"Are you saying he's a thief? He's not priest material so I'm guessing the former. Fine. He's a thief. So that would explain what he is hiding. Now the question is, can he be trusted?" SHe pondered what Aura had said and then said, "What do you mean not quite human. Eternal like us?"

"Yes. It's something that's hard to see in others if you haven't been one yourself. And one for years at that. As for trust...I'm sure it'd be different if he knew I was a well versed thief myself. Honor among thieves you know. Trust him, knowing that he has no knowledge that I'm one as well? Sure. I can't go back on my word to him about judgment now can I?"

"No. Going back on your word would be...tragic. I just have to wonder. He seems like he's troubled. Maybe he's afraid we will throw him out if we find out about his 'shady' past. Or...maybe he just plans to leave and not give us the chance to toss him out." Nailah thought about the attack that had struck her so hard earlier. The fear had coursed into her. Taking hold and threatened to never let go. Brought pain like she rarely felt anymore. Power. Fear. They all combined to hit her in a strange tangle of events that made her feel both hurt and upset. Nailah shook her head and got the glowing happiness of Aura being nostalgic. "Honor among thieves. As if it really exists... can you prove it, Aurahkah?"

Mika froze as she heard footsteps close enough to definately be on the same floor. After a few more minutes she heard them enter a room and the close the door behind them. Figuring they'd decided to go to bed, Mika silently opened the door and crept out, peering around the hall. She decided some exploring was in order if she wanted to find anything. Walking right down the middle of the hall, she observed the surrounding structurework, very reminescent of halls she had seen before, though on a grander scale. She could see dust coating a good deal of the doorknobs as she walked down, giving her the impression that this building housed very few residents indeed. She stopped at the end of the hall, counting very few rooms in which there was residence.

Sigh, she thought. Maybe I won't get as much here as I thought...

"Egypt. Something or other b.c., I forget. Not that it really matters anyway. Girl about the age of 21 summers, traveled along through scorching desert with five others. All in a cheerful mood, seeing as they just made a very successful heist of a caravan but a few miles back. When night fell...things were divided up, everyone who did their part got equal shares. Of course there was also that one lazy one that did nothing and expected his share of gold, and ended up with none due to decision of the rest of us. Long story remotely short...the next morning we found ourselves in front of Pharaoh's guard. No charges. Of course, no one was in the middle the desert for nothing with quite a bit of gold. Questions were asked...to our lazy little gold less friend. While offered a fortune beyond his dreams, if he should tell. He denied all knowledge, made up a plausible lie...don't remember it now but it was spectacular. And we got away scott free. Point is...there is honor among thieves, maybe even a code if you will."

Nailah listened wiht a smile on her face and memories rushing to the surface. She missed Egypt. It always reminded her of Nadai. "So did the lazy thief still remain goldless or did you give him something for his trouble? He did after all save you from a certain and horrific death."

Aura retained the nostalgic look in her eyes. "He remained with nothing. He did nothing in the raid, thus he gained nothing. Thieves honor is just that. A expected pact between all of us. Whether it be telling lies to save our necks or to hold secrets. It earns you no gold, only the right to live and maybe a little respect."

Mika walked over to a door at the very end of the hall, making sure it was caked in dust. Let's start with finding out what these rooms come equipped with... she thought, slipping on the fingers of her left gauntlet and pulling a tool from it's bottom.

Grasping the bottom of the knob, she slipped the pick into the lock and gave it a quick jerk, hearing the following click. She pressed her hand up on the bottom of the doorknob and turned, careful not to let her glove slip on the cool metal. As the door gave way, she stepped inside and closed the door behind her, not worried about any dust on the inside knob.

So let's see... she thought, exchanging her tool with the marble. What do we have here?

((Sorry, temp. leave of absense. I got an important call from a friend..at 1 freakin' AM >.<; I'll try to be back ASAP))

"I should have known. Egyptian rule. "You do no work, you get no reward.' Simple but concrete. And widely practiced. It was done in the temples as well. But that is a story for a different time. Have any other stories, Aura?" Nailah asked tapping her fingers idly.
PostPosted: Fri Nov 05, 2004 11:23 pm

"I have many stories Niah...but all require an attention span not clouded at all by a strong Egyptian wine." She gave Nailah a wink and stood, laughing slightly. "Perhaps another time? Take a rain check?" She smiled at the girl again. "Till you get your total wits about you, I think I'm going to go rest...so much shadow walking lately...anyway..till later then my dear." With one of her curt Aura hostess like nods, Aura turned and left the kitchen.

((falling asleep at the keyboard, that marks an exit))

Nailah watched Aura go and couldnt' help but laugh. Ah that wonderful Egyptian wine. She felt kind of bad for giving it to Darius but you only lived once. And it was only one glass. SHe yawned despite herself, and suddenly it dawned on her that she was alone in the kitchen. She felt very weary as the events of just that morning took they're toll on her. She trudged slowly from the room and wandered through the halls until she reached her room. Calmly she walked to the window and watched as the sun made it's final descent. Isn't that funny. The day starts with teh sun and ends with the sun. ANd I witnessed both. Turning from the window she changed and fell into bed where she relaxed her overtaxed mind into a restful regnerizing sleep.

((early...everyone's gone. sleepy. night.))

Khenu was up early again. He walked around the manor in a lazy fashion. His empath senses were quite calm and relaxed and in fact he was quite bored.

Detouring out to the courtyard Khenu pulled his boomerang from his belt unguarded it and began his ritualistic style practice with it. Often having to fetch it from a random tree or bush it would get caught up in.

Darius the Dark One

PostPosted: Sat Nov 06, 2004 6:39 pm

Darius sat in the darkness of his room fighting with the voice again. He'd been careful to let no light project the shadow of his true being, as that's what had freaked him out most last time.

"You'll kill them."

I wont. I steal and leave unlike you.

"You're becoming more demon-like with every minute, and yet you fear your own shadow."

You're the only shadow I fear.

And after all I've done for you? After I took you in, and taught you many things.

I wish to learn nothing more from you.

When their blood stains you, you will come home.

Darius lashed out silently at the air in front of his face as if that'd somehow help. Picking up the key in front of his door, he scratched his right horn stub, still hidden beneath raven hair, and went downstairs to stand as Aurahkah had been standing the night before. As he turned to investigate the direction she had come from, he walked a little while and stumbled across some vaults, one in which his key fit. The vault was of course empty, but beside it stood numerous other vaults, in which his key did not fit, but which must belong to other people in the mansion. With a grin on his face, he moved to the kitchen and got himself a sandwich. Can't steal properly on an empty stomach. I need fuel for my powers to work, I need to test them out more as well...

As he was thinking to himself, he looked outside and noticed Khenu throwing around a boomarang. "Childsplay....But I don't have to play nice." He made himself invisible and went outside to watch him. He always catches it a certain way, must be a reason. As it was thrown, it was thrown towards him and he caught it quickly and skillfully as he was hiding behind a tree.

As Blaine walked out towards the courtyard, he stopped at the door as he saw the man with the boomerang. He smirked to himself as he watched.

There are so many skilled warriors in this building... it's a great change from the usual human inns I have to cope with.

He had only recently arrived here, so he didn't exactly know many people. Blaine wasn't the social type, but... if he was gonna stay here, he might as well get to know people.

Might as well start talking to someone NOW...

He took a step outside, when he noticed the boomerang didn't come back. He glanced in the direction where it had disappeared, and narrowed his eyes. There as no such thing as true invisibility, it was just a state of mind. If you look hard enough you can...

Ah, there he is.

Seeing Darius in the tree, Blaine threw his kodachi at him. It peirced the tree, just missing the man's face. But he wasn't aiming to kill, it was a warning shot.

"Stop hiding, coward, and come out."

Walking into the clearing, Blaine finally made his appearance obvious.

Khenu groaned as his precious object didn't fling itself back to him this time. Most likely got stuck in a tree or bush or something else. With a sigh he trudged off into the bushes searching through sticks and leaves for a hint of an electrified ruby set in white, blue, and green painted metal.

His search was not going well and he kicked the dirt in frustration. But he continued on his search venturing slightly deeper into the bushes around the base of trees and such.

A glint of white in sun caught his eye and he turned around abruptly only to see his boomerang but it was floating in mid air without any motion or being stuck or caught in something. Khenu visibly tensed in surprise and at the tense blue electricity sprung to life around his forearms.

His attention was then caught by a weapon that was flung through the bushes and a man's voice calling out. The little boy froze this time and held hsi breath for a moment.
