"Well..." Haruhi paused for a moment, thinking. "I don't like sweet things very much, so I tend not to make them as often. I usually make things which my mother used to make. She left the recipes with my father, and so I make them. I like it when I can make something just right, so that my father is pleased with it."
She smiled.
"It feels like an achievement when I manage to get something right."

Haruhi looked pensive for a moment, gazing at the roses in the vase before her.
"Well, my father and I say prayers every day at the small shrine we have to her in our home," she answered truthfully. "Apart from that, my father sometimes isn't at home so much. He works nights occasionally, you see... Anyway, he doesn't really talk about her much... Just when he's comparing me to her, which happens increasingly these days."
She smiled to herself.
"I like that... I feel closer to her somehow..."
