... Oh god, now the chaperone was gone and Aster had commenced the clumsy UBER-PHYSICALLY-TICKLY FLIRTING.
The palms against his back he'd been able to handle without really flinching-- but then of course she had to lean in and-- O SHI-- was that her nose she'd just brushed up his back?! It took nearly every ounce of self control within him not to bolt upright from the chill that run up his spine accordingly, tail twitching even more violently and tensing u--
"Oh, my, looks like I've interrupted some playful intimacy in our living quarters!"
FASDFJASFKDASJFAGKFGNLADDFSAF--!!!
He'd been doing well until his dearest father (wrapped in an afghan and looking rather disheveled) had to speak up from the hall, bolting upright so fast that poor Aster earned herself a good bashing in the snout with his own spine and puffing up so that even his ears were starting to frizz out.
"F-Father, what are you--!?"
"Oh, just getting some tea, dears, do forgive my dreadful little interl--"
"Langston-Kai Tsholofelo Vandrooghenbroeck the Twelfth, what are you doing, trying to sneak out of bed from under my nose?"
Aaand there was Mother Dearest going RIGHT AFTER him, not looking particularly thrilled despite her smile as she promptly YANKED HIM RIGHT BACK by the arm, heaving a woebegone sigh.
"Do forgive us, Aster, Yossarian... He's not supposed to be out of bed right now--"
"But darling--"
"I'll fetch you some tea if you like."
"... Yes, darling..."
Oh, women to the rescue.
And of course if things couldn't get any MORE CHAOTIC RIGHT THEN--
"Ah, certainly, Mister Kanda!" Without even batting a lash at the less than cheerful response from her scowly ex-client, Hanna popped right back inside to go do just that-- what she felt was necessary-- and bid a cheerful hello to the sight of one strained looking Moacyr shoving her husband back down the hall. "Mmm, seems like things are going well for you two as well, by the look of it!"
"Oh, Hanna, I--"
"Keep walking please, dear."
"Hmm, hmm..." Yes, going well indeed, and the little therapist skipped on past them to go rooting in the guest room for-- sure enough-- a nice dense looking afghan stripped off the bed, heading right back out to disturb the back-porch couple not even a full minute after she'd left them.
... By dumping said afghan right over both of their heads.
"There." Seemingly satisfied by the sight of them buried (and Shae trying to find her way OUT for a good five seconds) under the mess of fabric, she smiled innocently, "no need for the healing to catch a cold. Do call if you need anything else, hmm?"
"......." Perhaps Shae would have given the obligatory agreement if she'd managed to pop out of the HEAP before Hanna had vanished back inside, but alas, no, it was already too late... and once again they were completely alone and to themselves.
Just... with a giant... heap of blanket... instead... Hnn.

Well that was her punishment for being cuddly with her other half just when Dad tried to make an escape for it. Yep, a shoulderbone to her poor nose which took a good brunt of the jumpiness, her own tail puffing up in half-shock, half-pain as she automatically took her hands off of the mercenaries back and just clutched them over her own nose.
Hsssssssssssssss!
Certainly mother had come to put the reigns on father, albeit a touch late, but now she had to go.. ...
Retreat off into the kitchen to make sure if that feeling in her poor palms was what it was, she didn't get it anywhere but in the sink where it would be more easily cleaned up. ... ....
Okay, so the bloodiness from her poor bashed nose was more smeared up her nose and upper lip than on her hands, but still!
Kanda just got to look hilarious with the afghan half-covering his head with one of his ears poking out from under the edge of it while Shae floundered about in it. Well, now that the little lesson inside had been utterly and completely ruined by Langston they'd just.. ...
Sit out here under a thrown blanket.
"Nnngh.." was the only answer he gave to Hanna before she ran off again, looking to Shae around the edge of the blanket that was EATING HIS FACE with a very humorous frown (at least to those who could tell the difference).
"..... Are you any warmer with this?"

Okay, so he wasn't the only one who'd gotten a little frizzed from the shock of it all, bu-- wait, hold the phone, why had she just hissed like that? And why was she bolting off to the kitchen of all places with her hands over her face? Had h-- ... oh, god, HAD HE JUST BROKEN HER NOSE?!
"I might suggest you make a proper damage assessment, Mister Yossarian--" Hanna (back on her perch again) suggested-- though it wasn't more than a second before she earned herself a leer of I AM NOT AMUSED.
"And I would suggest you make no additional efforts to rub in my folly," he practically snapped at her, not even bothering to throw his shirt back on as he peeled his stomach off the couch and (STILL puffy-furred to a hilarious degree in more places than one) trailed after dearest Wikeykins to...
Well, sadly, to do just the 'proper damage assessment' that had been suggested to him.
"....." One look at it was enough to stir a secret pang of guilt, ears flattening back and grimacing at the sight of her poor bloodied FACE as he came up next to her. "... How significant is the pain?"
And of course he was already digging through a kitchen drawer to find some towel that could be sacrificed for mopping the blood up. SIGH. That whole massage lesson had just gone so well...
Hell, even Shae had cringed a bit at all the sounds of scolding and hissing through the back door, ears turning back as soon as she had sort-of-mostly found her way out of the blanket pile. Perhaps it really was best that she'd gotten out of there so soon and not come ba--
Hnn? Oh, question time, right.
"O-oh, it's--" She stopped the moment she actually saw his (pathetically humorous) half-covered condition, immediately trying to fix the whole uneven-blanket mess with a quick mumble of "my apologies" and a little rearranging of seats... by just up and discarding her own.
Yep, the quickest solution was standing up (oh god PLEASE DON'T TRIP OR FALL) and lightly shoving her previously-sat-in chair aside to clear the spot it had rested on for sitting instead. Granted, porch floors were probably a might chillier and all, but... it made their situation a little less (literally) strained.
... And now he was definitely taller than him again.
"I-it's fine, Sir..." There, now things were a bit better... she thought. "And... ah... you?"
Yeah, as if one silly blanket made a difference to the guy who was never cold in the first place, HA.

Well it more or less had gone well until she'd tried to be 'cute' in a moment of what she thought was 'all clear'.
Instead she'd gotten to loom over the sink while washing her hands of the little spots of blood she'd gotten on them, before working on feeling up the bridge of her nose, wincing lightly at first contact but eventually numbing herself out enough to be able to feel the bridge of her nose.
Well...
"I think it'll bleed for a while and then it'll just be sore for a little while." she offerred... very.. unhelpfully with the blood still smeared up her face. But she did a double-check of pressing her fingers ginglerly against the very front of her nose and yanking her hand away immediately.
"... As long as I don't press on it too bad it just looks worse than it feels.."
Well, at least she was trying to be positive about the accidental disaster (which she wasn't going to explain the cause-and-effect behind to Hanna EVER) while trying to decide if she should move herself to the bathroom to finish cleaning up her poor nose or....
Oh yes, because Kanda was a SUPAHMAHN. Or rather he'd gone out and butchered wolves in much worse, so his coat and the blanket were definitely enough to keep him plenty toasty.
And now Shae could share his body heater.
"I'm plenty warm." he confirmed, for the sake of being polite and not forcing her assumption to just remain such. Though that didn't prevent him from sneaking an arm around her shoulder now that there was a blanket to keep the motion away from prying eyes who may have been hissing or spying on them.
Since Hanna or Langston would have soooo loved to see.
Ah ha ha.
No.

Well then, that'd teach her to ever try and sneak some naughty affection in without thinking twice on who might interrupt!
... Seriously, though, poor Yossarian was guiltier about the whole damn mess than he could possibly let on to (and quite ready to go back and strangle a certain paternal figure in the parents' room), just continuing to grimace-frown as she did that little finger-check with less than positive results.
"Then don't touch it for now..."
God, of all the stupid things to do, why did he have to-- ah, there was that damnable dishtowel. His mother could stand to sacrifice one old rag with so many others, he figured, and so it was just a matter of running some (thankfully warm) water from the facet to lightly dampen it and...
"Hold still." Well, seemed he had some clumsy 'mothering' instincts in him somewhere, still frowning as he put one hand under her chin to hold it still and used the other to start (VERY) gently trying to get the blood off her skin...
At least it hadn't gotten smeared into her FUR or anything very much. That would've sucked horribly.
There was still a part of Shae that almost envied that remarkable heating-and-healing ability of his... but at least she got to share in it just a little sometimes-- like now-- so it wasn't really too dreadful.
No, not dreadful at all, actually. In fact, for the way things had been and the way they were now... she was just happy to have the company at all.
"That's good to hear." And expected, but it was just the obligatory response as usual. Remarkable, really, what an immediate difference the 'change' made, already feeling a very distinct warm buildup on one side and across either shoulder.
(Even Del seemed to notice it, burrowing deeper into the recesses of her coat with a twitchy flutter of excited clicks.)
"I really... do appreciate it, Sir-- T-This, I mean.. and..." She trailed off right then, seeming to catch herself before any unnecessary words could get out, cleared her throat a little and just... quietly sunk into her spot a little. "... Yes, thank you."
Best to leave it there, and she knew it.

And in a good display of how trained he'd gotten her, she didn't fuss with 'nono my fault I'll do it' and fidgetted as little as possible while he dabbed at her nose to clean it up. Then again it was hard to completely stop her fidgetting when her nose was so sore and more than happy to respond to pressure of most sorts.
So she just had to keep herself from scrunching her nose.
Which she did well enough, just breathing through her mouth in the meantime so she didn't have to scuffle about with the 'breathing while upper lip and nose are under assault' problem.
Huh... ....
This was the first time he'd physically hurt her (without it being to solve a dislocated shoulder) and she wasn't freaking about it. This was a positive sign, actually.
Considering she probably would have thrown herself under a couch or table or something a couple of months earlier.
Then again, Del liked anything that had Kanda involved.
He gave her a curious look while she fumbled over some words of gratitude before finally just settling on the old standby of 'thanks'. Which worked just fine and dandy for him, just shrugging and wrapping the blanket around both of them so it could catch all of that nice body heat.
"You're welcome."
He wasn't sure what it was she was thanking him for, so he figured he'd just allow it as an umbrella statement and run with it as it was. No need to just 'meh' it off.

Thank god she'd made such an effort to hold still, too, because any squirmy jumping probably would've just hurt her more while he dabbed, and that would've been the end of it for his poor guilty conscience (even if he didn't show it). At least it seemed he hadn't really broken anything on her face, but still...
(And thank god she hadn't lapse into a panic either about the whole 'OH GOD HUBBY HURT ME' thing either because, dammit, it wasn't like he'd done it intentionally or anything!)
It was just a very unfortunate accident that he would probably winding up BLAMING ENTIRELY ON DADDYKINS. AGH.
But uh... yes, he was almost pathetically gentle in his dabbing, first to clean the nice smudgy red bits out from under her nose, then off the tip of the pad, and even a tiny bit that had managed to smear up over the bridge of it, ick. There, now she was about as cleaned up as she could possibly get, which only left...
"... I apologize." Yes, the real confession there, not quite making eye-contact (perhaps from the guilt, again) as he threw his bloody rag into the sink. "It wasn't my intention to... damage you like this."
Well, OBVIOUSLY, but he still felt the need to get it said out loud.
Oh, truth be told, Shae had a lot of things to thank him for. Some were little things, some were not so little things, but... she just left it there and didn't elaborate. He was probably getting tired of hearing it anyway.
Though just having the opportunity to sit there gazing out aimlessly over the wilderness and feel like things were more or less 'normal' was more than she could've asked for or articulated, really. Even if she wasn't half as genuinely 'dependent' as Ma'am in the CAN'T DO THIS ALONE sense, it still...
Yeah, leaving it there.
"...Right, then." So she didn't even bother mumbling any more significant nothings, just sighed and let her mind wander off into the wilderness.
Life... was pretty good.

Well she was appreciative of her hubbikins being gentle with her, even purring weakly to make her attempts of 'SEEISOKAY'... as yes, she could just sense his guilt with all of his care to clean the blood up off of her face.
And even his lack of eyecontact.
FROOOWN.
"There's very little you ever really can intend to do to someone else when surprised." she offerred forgivingly complete with a smile. Nope, he hadn't intended to hurt her, nor had he just 'meh'd at her plight, which were perhaps the running reasons behind why she hadn't just burst into sobbing and hidden herself somewhere to bleed under the table with her tail curled under her.
"But I forgive you anyways."
... ..... ....
So uh.. when was he going to stop holding her chin up?

Well again, it wasn't like he'd MEANT to inflict any harm and... well, just the thought of injuring any creature who hadn't deserved it was against his moral code, let alone injuring his would-be spouse of all things!
Then again, Aster herself didn't seem to be harboring any ill feelings over it (in fact, he was vaguely surprised she didn't lapse into some panicked pain response and dive under a table), ears turning back slightly at the sound of her weak appeasement purr and grimacing a bit more deeply.
Why was it that she always insisted on trying to make him feel better when she'd been the one to suffer thanks to his folly?
"... So be it, then, I suppose." He wouldn't reject the forgiveness though (if only because it had been an accident... and he didn't feel like causing a debate), finally just resigned to write it off with a light and a-- ... oh, right, he was still holding her chin, huh. Well, since the therapist wasn't right there next to them at the moment, might as well...
So he kissed her. Yep, probably the closest (and most hilariously awkward) thing he could get to being 'romantic' after clubbing her face in, but oh well. At least he was careful not to crash into her nose a second time with his face or anything.
... And Hanna, all the while, would just keep her back turned and hum innocently like she hadn't noticed the flirtations going on in the other room.
Or the ADORABLE FLUFFY WARMSNUGGLING on the back porch, ahahaha.
For as twisted as her methods were, she'd really done quite a number on the little group, hadn't she?
Yes, she could leave them to their own devices by sundown and feel quite satisfied... because, dysfunctional though they might have been, there was definitely something special there.
They'd all be juuust fine.
... Somehow.
