He complied readily, smacking her lightly on the behind as he passed for her comment and then picked up the spoon and stirred before tasting. He thought about it then began to add a pinch of salt, a pinch of pepper and a dash of basil and tasted again. There we go. "Now, I declare that this soup is perfect."
Larissa nodded and became her normal self. "You're probably right. I'm far more adept at whips from using my vines for so many years. I have more agility, more control and far more variety for their use. And that will eliminate the banging shin problem. But I don't want them attached all the time the way Janus' is. Think we can come up with something along those lines?" she asked laying the sword down before the elf.

Janus was playing with Heather and Katrina in teh basement, letting the girl practice her fire by pitting it against Katrina's ice for sculpting and control playing. though he was also teaching her to form fire into images and figures as well. things were going fairly well, though as time wore on, he was begining to wonder where Larissa had gone for the day. she'd made it sound like she was going to go shopping, but since they didn't really need much in teh way of food and drink..what was she out buying?

She saw him add a few things and didn't feel offended in the least. After all, he had his particular tastes and she always allowed him to tweak the food a little. "That's good. Do you want it like that or do you want me to make things spicy for you?" After all...when she said spicy it was the set your mouth on fire spice.
Walking to the back she quick did a bit of construction of various weapons and came back to Larissa, setting down a pair of daggers that were hooked to a length of chains each, which were then looped around forearm guards at the wrist. Temporarily thrown together obviously. "How about this? Of course I would make everything detachable, weapons changeable and such but this is a quickie try."
Karina was happy to help and hey she liked the attention in general. After all Janus, Larissa, and Heather had become like family to her. It was funny...neither of them really mixed...fire, ice, and plant. It was amusing to think about sometimes. But she looked to Heather as the little girl was plucking the petals off of a flower she had gotten from somewhere. "Why are you mad at mommy Heather?" Turning a look to Janus as well on the little girl's voiced statement to her father's question as they were all taking a little break.

He thought about it for a moment and then grinned. "I haven't had hot and spicy in a long time. Yeah, let's make it count." Then he winked lasciviciously. "and then maybe it'll heat you up enough to translate to the bedroom?"
Larissa let Isle work and when she returned, she slipped on the guards and stepped back, keeping only a small length of chain available, then swung it in a wide arc over her head before lashing it down and embedding it into that counter of Isle's. "That's perfect. You were exactly right, Isle. Swords aren't for me but something like this is. I can control these and have some sort of form." She was excited now.
Heather dropped the now petaless flower on the basement floor and stomped it with her foot then crossing her arms and sitting back down. "She took me away from Daddy." Shoving out her lower lip. "She took me away and wouldn't bring me back. And she hurted my arm." Glaring at the remnants of the flower, it burst into flame.

Janus looked at his daughter.
"That is nothing to be angry with her about. she had a very, very hard time before then. she took you to her glen, and wanted to spend some time with just you, and didn't want to come home right away. and I doubt she really hurt your arm."
Janus took a seat.
"You're mother loves you very much. and so do I. but that doesn't mean you have to spend all your time with me. it hurts your mothers feelings to not be able to spend anytime with you alone. to do girl things together. like sewing, talking about dresses, getting pretty and things like that. stuff us guys don't really do."

Ecara rolled her eyes, brushing her hands on the apron she wore around her waist at the moment and moved over to a cabinet, pulling out a jar of something mysterious that she always threw into food when he wanted spicy. Thus hip checking him away from in front of the pot she put a liberal amount in and then stirred it, giving a giggle. "If you're a good boy, just maybe it will."
"Ah yes, that's much better." Inspected the blade that was embedding in her counter top...hm, was going to have to patch that now wasn't she? "I'll make you up a nicer version...detail it to look floral and plant like and such just for you. I can even tint the metal a color if you wish. I'll also make sure you have a variety of equips for the chains and work on a retraction type effect to work for you as well to keep them out of the way when not in use." Oh the creativity she could engineer. "Any preferences?"
Hey, the girl could look at it a certain way, after all Larissa had taken Heather, Karina had been left behind to deal with things at home. And when Kalindra visited it was never a happy time in the house. A look to Janus as he attempted to explain things and then she reached over, poking Heather in the shoulder lightly to get her attention. "Boys aren't good at understanding stuff sometimes, we gotta get away from them sometimes." Trying to help in some way.

He chuckled, "Ooh stipulations. Can I just mention that I've already been a good boy and done everything asked of me today?"
Larissa nodded and listened getting more and more excited by the minute. "Detailing sounds wonderful. Spare no expense and nice green or yellow would work well I think. Or maybe white like a tiger lily. Hmm. Well, you know, I'm not horribly picky. I do love my plants though and exotic colors become me. Although there is not a part of me that's white. Maybe that would be a good color? And they have to have some sort of safety lock on them. Can't have them slipping out when I'm holding Heather and accidentally cutting her or her finding them and playing with them. Can we manage all that?"
Heather shook her head. "She barely talked to me. Mostly she just sat there, Daddy and wouldn't even look at me. I kept telling her we needed to go home that you would worry about us and that's when she grabbed me and told me we weren't going home. Ever." the child reached out and snagged one of her father's chains tugging on it lightly. "I don't like that Mommy at all. She called Daddy bad stuff..."

Janus picked heather up and sat her on his lap.
"Oh? what kind of bad stuff? And your mother had a very, very hard day. many...unpleasent things happened. things that never should happen to people like your mother."

"While whining." She twitched her ears happily in his misery of the moment at her proclamation. "You could make a night of it all to make it up to me though. Haven't had a romantic evening in a while and you are very good at it." Was it pathetic that she was asking for such an evening? Probably. Back to spicing up food.
"I'm a master smith, I can pull it off. Though I'll prbably tint your chains green adn then every weapon attachment I'll tint to a flower colors and do flower detailing while keeping functional use. Oh the fun I'm going to have with this. And as I finish things, you can train here for a bit each week...or whatever schedule you had planned."
Karina didn't say anything, after all she knew no more than Heather about what had happened when the adults had gone off to face the bad man who was causing so much stress in the house.

"You know men, Cara, we often act more like children than adults. We just...can't help it." His mother and hers were famous for uttering such things. Now Aunt Bastet topped htem all with her adoption comments but he learned to shrug those off. "I can do that. I can do that very well." Thus he dropped a kiss on her cheek and scampered off to set the stage.
"Oh this is wonderful, Isleandra. I knew I could count on you to know exactly what would be right." She plopped down at the seat behind the counter and blushed at the sight of the blade. "You can add the charge to fix that in there too. Janus has more than enough gold nad he should pay for it!"
Heather immediately snuggled into her father. SHe loved Daddy's lap and when he wrapped his arms and his chains around her she felt like she was getting doubly hugged. Though her eyes went wide adn she shook her head. "I can't say those things! I'll get into trouble..." She was curious though. "What happened to her Daddy? And how come she can use a bad day excuse adn I can't? I still have to go to bed or my room or can't play outside..." Back to the pouting.

"I'll make you a deal. you tell me what mommy said, adn you won't get in trouble..and I'll try to tell you what happened. just don't be upset with her when you hear it, alright?"

She watched him scamper off...yup that was pathetic to be asking for a romantic evening. She almost fely guilty for blatantly asking for it too. Ecara gave a sigh, gave the pot another stir, put its lid on and returned to her bread.
Isle gave a chuckle. "Of course I'll just throw that in. I've been needing a now counter top for a while." In fact a look around. "Or rather a new everything...things are so shabby these days." Shaking her head lightly she grasped the blade and with a good firm jerk she pulled it out. "At least this will be a fun project for me."

Larissa nodded approvingly. "Good. I feel like spending Janus' money today so feel free to make it as lavish as you wish. Wishing to expand? Why not, Janus can pay for that too."
Heather searched his face to make sure he was telling her the truth and not trying to trick her and then she looked down at her hands. "Well...seh said a lot of words. Insufferable and irritating. and Insensitive. Lots of 'i's.' and then she got this faraway look in her eyes and she would say jerk and mmm again and..." she paused for a moment and then whispered, "mmhmm maniac..." She shifted uncomfortably, "and then she looked at me and said that that mmmmm mmmm mmm wasn't ever goign to get his hands on me. adn that she would poison him if he ever came near me that mmm mmm mmmmmm."

"She was reffering not to me in particular, but to Teon...the bad person we were fighting. Teon threatened to take you away form us and do whatever demented things his little mind coudl come up with to you."
A pause there.
"You're mom got very angry, and tried to strangle him with her hands and vines. he stabbed her with some kind of drug, that made mommy forget who she was. made her a pet to him. Daddy and the others had to fight mommy, adn she killed two people. then teon killed her to make daddy really mad."
A sigh.
"So daddy did very very horrible things to Teon. and we had Aiden use her phoenix power to bring everyone back to life. But she wasn't alright with things, and it hurt and scared mommy real bad. but she's better now, I promise."

Isle gave a chukle and a dismissive wave of her hand. "My my you can be a trouble maker can't you? But no problem, I'll spoil you since you're going to spoil my creative genius. It's a good deal I think. Besides, Janus does have a lot of gold that goes unused. But I think I'll just resurface everything in here...that would make me happy."
