Gernou winced at the sudden impact of the man's feet and glared at him as he hit the wall. He watched the man carefully with hate as he moved to the chair. When the man held out the tessen Genrou smiled. Had he forgotten how fast the bandit was? What a fool, Genrou would have the tessen from the man before he could even blink!

Genrou stood up. "Don't worry I will," he retorted with a cocky grin. "You shouldn't underestimate me." He knew the shogun was physically strong, that much was evident but Genrou was too and he was a skilled fighter so even if he was forced into combat he'd still have a good chance. 'A fight is unlikely,' he thought to himself, 'I'll be too fast for him to start one.' His grin widened. 'And then I'll toast him and we'll see who's the best.' He darted forward, his hands stretched out for the tessen. His fingertips were touching it in a second if even.

Nakago had underestimated Tasuki's speed...but only slightlly. The fact that the bandit's hand made contact with the tessen was a testament to that, but it did not matter. The character on Nakago's forhead flashed to life in an instant, and with that, a surge of power emminated, projecting itsself against Tasuki's body..enough force to send him against the wall, but not to break through it. At this point, he expected to wake everyone in the inn...and might as well have some fun in doing it. The Character on his forhead faded from the bright blue glow that it was before he turned around to face him waving the Tessen back and forth in a "tsk tsk" fashion.

"I think it is you...who should not have underestimated me."

He smirked and let the whip uncurl from his fingers leaving only the hilt in his hand. He continued to use his life force to hold Tasuki against the wall, and lifted him ever so slightly, so that they would be at eye level.

He took slow methodical steps over towards the wall...all the while, the whip sliding along behind, and the tessen being flaunted.

"You want this back...I will let you have it then..."

As soon as he finished his sentence he slapped it across Tasukis face.

gonk Ooops...I was reading too fast...and bunched that whole thing into speech when it was not supposed to... sweatdrop *Heads outside for his 30 lashings*

"I'm Yuki Miaka, Mr. F... uh, Chichiri-san." The girl sat back down, cocking her head and watching him intently. "But if you're just a wanderer, how come you've been looking for me? I haven't done anything that would make a stranger come searching for me... or at least I haven't done anything that I know of."

Unless this is one of those places where it's a crime to wear short skirts or something, she added silently, glancing down at her school uniform and the thigh-length skirt. She sweatdropped a little. I really hope this isn't one of those places...

The families more or less watched and continued as they were while introductions went on...however a key word... Wich is actually SAID this time... sweatdrop ..."Priestess"...Everyone stopped and listened VERY attentively.

The one nearest to Chichri spoke up finally....

"Did you...ahem...Did you just say...Priestess?"

stare No lashings for you. You'd probably enjoy those too much...so we'll make you watch Richard Simmons videos for 5 hours instead.

Chichiri laughed. "Not at all Miaka-san! I suppose I should explain myself. I'm the Suzaku celestial warrior Chichiri na no da," he rolled up his pant leg to expose the weakly flickering symbol on his knee. He then turned to the people within the dwelling. Surely they all had heard of the prophecies, it was common knowledge. Four kingdoms, four beast gods, and four priestesses to save the country from peril.

"She is girl of legend. Suzaku has chosen her to be his priestess no da!" he assured the host. The monk then smiled chibily at Miaka if he explained everything, though, unbeknownst to him, he had probably confused her all the more.

Miaka could think of nothing to do but stare blankly at the fox-faced man, trying to comprehend everything he'd just said.

Did he just call me "The girl of legend?" What's that supposed to mean? And then he said I was a priestess... but I'm no priestess! I'm a normal school girl! I don't even have very good grades! What in the world would make him think I was someone special like that? He doesn't even know me, for heaven's sake! This has got to be some kind of trick! I need to get home as soon as I can, before something bad happens. But he seems really nice... he can't be a *bad* guy. Maybe he's just confused. Oh, but now I'M confused too! I don't even really know where I AM, so how am I supposed to be a priestess, or something legendary? This must be some kind of mistake - it HAS to be!

All of this ran through her head, but all she could think of to say amid all of these questions was a very puzzled, "Um, what?"

Opa: Miaka is probably projecting these thoughts VERY loudly. I wouldn't be surprised if Chichiri could "hear" them, or at least pick up on their general meaning.

The rest of the members of the household began quiet discussion among themselves concerning this new turn of events. Every one in the land of Konan had heard at least SOMETHING about the Suzaku no Miko, and how she would appear and save the land. Their excitement was only curbed by the fact that if she was here...it meant the country would need saving...and that could only mean things were going to take a turn for the worst.

Awe and womder played across their faces as this knowledge soaked in. That would explain her strange clothing, strange manner...this Tok-y-o place she was asking about. The kids could be heard chattering about it in the other room, at this rate...soon the whole town woud know.

"Well..you are all welcome to stay here for the night. It is the least we can do for the Suzaku no Miko."

He gave a respectful bow first to Chichiri, and then Miaka.

Genrou couldn't help but cry out in both surprise and pain as he flung against the wall once more. He was stunned but only momentarily but when he was finally able to focus he found he couldn't move. 'Damn him!' he thought with an angry scowl as he struggled vainly.
The bandit kept his eyes solely on the tessen as the shogun approached and his scowl deepened as the blonde began to taunt him. 'I'll get you yet,' he thought furiously, 'you stupid blonde ba*t**d!'
The metal stung his face so sharply he wondered if it had cut into his skin and made it bleed. Though he'd partially seen this coming the sheer force stunned him and he winced slightly though he'd rather not let the shogun know it had hurt.
"That all you got huh?" Genrou snapped. "Pathetic that you have to pin me to a wall with you chi, can't even fight me one on one!"

Nakago continued to smirk at the outburst. He could see the spot where the tesen had struck reddened and trickling a small amount of blood. He ignored the goading, and chuckled.

"You have a firey spirit..."

He then tossed the tessen onto the bed, tauntingly in plain sight.

"...you will make a more enjoyable plaything than I had expected."

He took his now free hand and ran it slowly up the small trckle of blood, slowly, one could almost say tenderly, but then suddenly pressing hard, painfully hard, when he reached the actual wond, and then, eyes locked into his, slowly brought the bloodstained finger to his mouth. One way or another, this would surely get the bandits attention, so he would not see the flick of his wrist and movement of his other arm, as the whip began to move. If he timed it right...right as the bandit reacted to this gesture, the whip would strike his side. Not a flull fledged blow, as he had no wind up...but still a painful strike none the less.

He he I'm so immature I laughed at plaything, weirdly it was the first word I spotted, my poor mind is being corrupted!

Genrou's expression became furious when his tessen was tossed to the bed out of his reach as if it were a mere toy. He scowled at the phrase 'plaything' and considered several retorts when the man began to run his hand up the blood.

'In the name of Suzaku he's a bloody pervert!' he thought with slight alarm as he struggled harder to get free of the chi.

The bandit could not help but cry out in pain when the hand dug into the wound brutally and painfully. "You ba*t**d!" he shouted. "You bloody ba*t**d!" He tried to kick the man hoping that he could finally break free of his chi.

Nakago continued on, saying nothing, that confident smirk still across his face. He ignored the angry outbursts and the small strain against his chi. Soon enough, he would not even have to keep him held against the wall...his whip would make sure of that.

He turned around and took a few steps away to give more room to use the whip. His smirk faded, and inside, his mind went back to his past...and that fueled a combination of sadness and anger which he could focus on this patheting man he now held on his power...in similar fashon as rest of the world under the power of a god...One could almost call it theraputic....almost.

In a quick motion, he turned completely around and lashed out with the whip. Three...Four...Five strikes to his front and sides befor the first pause, at which time he released the hold on him with his chi for only a moment in order to swap walls and turn the bandit around for the next strikes.

Nakago had made sure not to kill him...that would have spoiled all of his fun. Blood stained the floor however, in the places that Tasuki had been held to the wall and beaten. It had almost been a stress relief...to take out some agression on him...but even that was not enough to dissuade from the courses of action that were already underway, and could not be changed. He had beaten him with the whip a few more times, and then, having caused enough damage to be confident enough, he had almost completely released the hold over the bandit with his Chi, and had made it a little more personal...getting right up in his face again, and crossing his cheeks with the butt of the whip, taunting him about the worth of the simple fan compared to what it was costing him. when he had finished, he had mearly returned to the bed, tucking the tessen safely in his belt agaain, and pulling the covers over him. The savage beating had roused enough of the rest of the inn...and once they realized what was going on...two of the assassins had waiteduntil the beatings had stopped, and then entered as quietly and discreetly as possible to exume the bandit grom where he was left, as a discarded toy, to be plucked up and played with another time. They knew that since Nakago had not killed him.....nor had he ordered them to do so..that they needed to make sure he lived, and they would tend to his serious wounds and prepare him to head out when they did early in the morning...and they would leave...very early...for they had already been delayed...and the Shogun was not one to be put of fhis choice of schedule, without good reason.

Just before the sun rose, the familiar sound of soldiers boots could be heard in the upstairs room. The rest of the convoy quickly roused and made preparations to leave, there was another small village...a farming village, that they would reach early today...Nakago had some elite assassins posted there for a particular operation, but they had to get there first. He donned his armor and gave the dry blood spots a glance before making his way out into the main room, soldiers mulling about Assassins at the ready, horses being brough from the stables, and the Carraige being brought around to the front. They were efficient enough for who and what they were, but Nakago was unsettled...something bit at him, and he could not put his finger on it...so even his normal meloncholy bore a hint of a scowl on this morning.

He had beaten, oh Hell he had. The whip had come at him in the blink of an eye, the beatings were so fast and sudden that each one had come as a shock to his body. If it hadn't been for that damn chi! Now he was free of it but he couldn't move. He'd finally been released on the chi to drop on the floor covered in blood. 'Damn, damn, damn,' he'd cursed over and over in his head as he'd struggled to stay conscious.

He'd tried to get up but he'd been unable to, been unable to move much really. The door opening had been a dim noise to him but he'd sensed the people nonetheless and when they'd bent down he knew he'd be removed. Removed for what?

A silver glimmer. The tessen, he needed his tessen! Gernou had been unable to even sit let alone stand and try to steal back his tessen. Hell he'd hurt, he still did. The men had lifted him and he'd barely been able to stay conscious. He'd spat blood onto the floor and vowed revenge before he was removed.

He'd get his tessen back yet, he was bandit, if he couldn't steal he wasn't worthy to be one. 'I'm beat but next time I'll win,' he'd vowed with a grin on his face despite his pain. Rest would be good now though, rest would be very good.

Yui instinctly squinted her eyes tighter as the morning light shone from the window and directly into her face. A small yawn escaped her lips as she than did her routine stretch with a half asleep expression planted upon her face. It surely hadn't dawned on Yui that she wasn't in her room until the moment she flipped her two legs aside to slide out of bed only to find herself already on the floor. It was than that her eyes blankly glanced around the cozy room where she could hear distinctly chattering of the wife bidding farewell to the farmer. Slowly, she soon began to recall everything that had happen so far and well she was feeling rather much better than last night. It seemed she would have to take it easy for a couple of days to fully recover though. Maybe a day or two would do. When it came to bed rest, Yui wasn't much good at it. She always felt the urge to do something useful.

The farmer had been up since way before anyone else, packing up his things for hopefully a good day. He did his usual routine of making sure everything was securely packed and there was not a thing he was missing before he left to bid his wife farewell before turning around to search for Kouji who was suppose to get a ride with him into Kutou. The young lad was nowhere to be seen so there was a possibility that he had left or something else came up. Still, the farmer walked up to his wagon and decided to wait at least five more minutes before taking off. He couldn't afford to wait any longer than that, not if he wanted to get to Kutou at his usual scheduled time.

It had been a very long night it seemed like, especially since Amiboshi had to remain awake and on watch. He could of easily switched with his twin brother, but when he saw how peaceful Suboshi was asleep, he could not bring himself to wake his brother. So he decided just to fight off the sleep, his eyes in a daze as he watched the small fire in front of him, wondering when that strange woman would ever come back.

Eventually the fire had died and the first rays of lights were finally painting the sky. Amiboshi remained sitting by the fire, his eyes shut to rest just for a moment. But he was still very much awake as he waited for his brother to get up so they continued on their small journey.

Kouji winced at the sun's rays and shook himself awake. 'Never thought I'd see the sun,' he thought to himself, 'feels like that night lasted forever.' The bandit stood up and stretched before looking around him. 'Genrou is going to kill me,' he decided, a smile spreading across his face. That was right, his lift! "Damnit," he cursed. He headed round to where the cart was but it was gone. "Great," he grumbled, "I'm in for one long walk and I don't even know the way!"
