"Time...time stands still for both me and Eclipse. I don't think I would have lasted this long without him." She side glanced the angel, so many mysteries to these beings. "May I ask what happened?"

"I am now homeless."
"She was. . ." Azaireal stops talking, his angelic tone shifting into mortal variations, his pale skin glows, and his eyes become jewels. "It is hard on an angel to lose his 'home', we can not chose to grow, we can not chose to forget. We simply are. . ." Azaireal toses the locket onto the table, but just before it lands, a strey wind blows. Azaireal as the locket in his hand again, and he stairs at it, almost a statue. "I can not let it go..."
"You live outside of time, I only know it exists becasue I can interact with living creatures... Time, is my foe, time has taken her from me..."

Aura simply nodded. She found this angel's way of speaking truly fascinating. Almost as if he spoke in a dead language as she herself often reverted to. "Apparently angels are for more complex than books and tales lead us all to believe."
"I've been around for what now a little under thirty-five hundred years and you've been around over five thousand and we're just now seeing something that is different from standard worldly context really. We need to get out more Aurahkah."

Aura and Eclipse both exchanged glances and then shared a laugh. "I hate it when they do that...."
"It's an angel thing. Come on, we have a portal to find!"
"What no sleep?"
"I've gotten my second wind and you can do days without sleep."
"Point taken."

Khenu trudged coughing and cold from the lake. This learning to swim thing wasn't getting any easier. But his pride wanted him to keep at it. He collapsed on the bank in a pile of waterlogged Khenu.

Nailah stared at her hands and sighed. She had no idea how long she had been standing there. It felt like days, but she knew it was probably only minutes. The kitchen suddenly felt suffocating. Too hot. She shook her head and escaped to the hall but it dind't help. She felt overheated and uncomfortable. Finally she walked out to the courtyard hoping she would cool down. She saw a very wet Khenu and walked over to him. "Don't you know you are supposed to undress before getting in the water?" she asked him raising an eyebrow at his drenched state.

Khenu, was lying on his back, looked upside down at Nailah from his position. "Water's too cold." He flipped him self over and stood up, his jeans still dripping rivers practically.
Giving her a lopsided grin he ran a hand through his wet hair. "So Nailah we know what I'm doing out here but what are you doing out here?"

Nailah smiled and ruffled his hair. Grimacing she shook her hand and droplets sprayed everywhere. "Call me Niah and I just needed some fresh air." It felt weird actually allowing someone to call her by her once reserved nickname. But it was strangely nice. She would have to let everyone have the same privelege very soon. Nailah squinted up at the noon sun and said, "Come sit Khenu. The sun will dry you and we can talk. I'm curious, actually, do you know you have empathic senses?" She knew he had the powers but he often went into a sort of 'trance' when his powers were in use and it was as though he had no idea what was happening. She knew how frightening it could be to have something control you and you be powerless to stop it. She picked a spot in the grass and patted the grass beside her. "Come on. Sit down."

Khenu nodded and followed Niah and sat in the spot she indicated. He gave her an odd look as if she had asked a stupid question. "How couldn't I know? I can't move at first when it happens and then everything seems to be going in slow motion. Hard to miss. Is it hard to tell or something? I knew you were an empath."

Niah smiled at his answer. Just like a child. She nodded, "I was just making sure, Khenu. Sometimes things happen that we aren't aware of and it looked as though you zoned out when your powers became apparent." Nailah thought carefully before she spoke. "Some empaths have stronger reactions to the feelings. Me, for example, I react very strongly to even the smallest of feelings. And mine tend to bring pain. Yours, on the other hand, don't seem to be as strong. But then most aren't as strong as mine. I seem to be an extreme case." She paused and thought for a moment. "The reason I asked is, you need training to be able to deal with it. I don't want you to feel what I do and I know how to keep it from happening."

His eyes widened at her information. "Wait. You mean that as I get older and it gets stronger it's going to start hurting me when it happens?" He looked at his hand which was picking at blades of grass nervously.
Khenu groaned. "I thought it couldn't get any worse than what its caused already. Had to turn into a weird empath strange power kid didn't I?" His attention was now more on the grass than anything else. "I liked being normal..."

Niah shook her head. "No Khenu. Yours will never hurt you, I will make sure of that. I told you before, mine is an extreme case. Most do not feel things as deeply as I do. Even you will probably not feel things the way I do." She stared at the sky and then said, "As you get older you will become more in tune with the different emotions and become better at identifying which ones they are. Although it really isn't that hard. Humans have so many emotions but most are pretty obvious." She laughed at his expression and finally realized what he had said. "Normal? Khenu, look at me. You weren't born this way?"

Khenu looked at her reluctantly. "I...I..." He had said too much again. He hated it when he did that. Too much information got out like it just did now. He'd have to tell now.
Reaching a hand up he first touched his hair. "I didn't use to look the way I do now. My hair was a sandy blond and my eyes they were green not blue. At least I think they were that's what everyone said. I didn't look at mirrors to often. One day...somethign happened and now I look like this."
He sighed and put on his brave act. "I wasn't born an empath at all. Or with all these weird powers. I was just a normal kid with a boomerang."

Aura ran to catch up with Eclipse. "Don't leave me behind! I meant it! No jokes this time!"
Eclipse stopped and allowed Aurahkah to thread her fingers into his fur to keep pace with him and continued to walk through the swirling black oblivion of the shadow plane. "I told you, I won't let anything happen to you."
Azure eyes turned to glare a wolf eyes of the same color. "I don't even want to be here..."
"Well I think maybe this could help us find this thing."
"Let's just hurry."
