Arrella followed Vericalis from the palace. "That was......airy people make me uncomfortable. She doesnt seem as demented as she did before but that could easily just be the stone masking her psychy."
"People make you uncomfortable, dear." Vericalis said absent mindedly.
"The stone is so powerful. I have the Earth stone, as it is rightly mine from the Earth, but even with the combined power I dont know if it will be enough to get past her if she snaps again." Arrella was thinking outloud, every couple of steps she would tripp over her gown and cloak.
"Dmitri looks well." Vericalis said slowly.
"Yes he does. I hate to admit it but I miss him in a way. He and Zosia are...close." She looked at Vericals. He seemed anxious. "Vericalis?"
"Yes? Oh, that thing. That Dark you spoke of, I feel it too. All of it. I feel it and I feel a stirring inside of Claire. I hope there wont be anymore surprises tonight."
"Agreed."

"I said 'are you istening'?" Shouted the Mage loudly "Nacht!"
"Yes, sir." Replied the honored magician Ebrius Nacht, bringing his attention back from the window.
"We need a first attack on the Empire. They need to be cut off from every corner!"
"Indeed, sir. What does your ingenious mind plan, sir?"
"I want you to stop their army."
"How, sir?"
"By any means necessary."

Natch grinned before stalking out of the Mage's room. We shall defeat anyone in our path! We shall punish the Empire for their insult towards my master!

Slowly, carefully, he walked through the halls of Adfrafar planning his next move. If we stop the army from moving then they can only attack us via magic, which my most talented master can defeat. Calling to his fingers, the air twitched and changed current. Suddenly a powerful wind picked up, but this was only a fraction of what it was like in the Imperial City.

Rain banged on the glass windows that shielded the Empress from the wild wild weather raging outside.

The wind picked up and the rain started to drop so Vericalis teleported them the rest of the way back to head quarters. They arrived across the street from Head Quarters. As they entered, the well timed Help came in to take their coats.
"I dont suppose I have time to take off this dress?" Arrella asked tartly. Vericalis turned to look at her, cocked an eyebrow and walked towards the stairs. Ringing out her wet, moppy, curls she sighed, "Guess not. Oh well, its a good thing I thought to wear pants underneath it." Trudging up the stairs they wearily made their way towards Vericalis's chambers.

Dmitri got up the next morning and made his way down to Fenrad Street, the military area of the city, a broad boulevard lined with elms. The generals met him there, as he had asked, along with twenty or so magicians.

"I have asked you here today so that we may discuss the reformation of the army," said Dmitri, his voice sharp and loud. "Magicians and soldiers will be working together from now on. For every two hundred men in an army I want a mage. If a force exceeds one thousand men it will require a higher level mage to strengthen it, and one more for the next thousand and so on. We have a week and a half. Train the men and mages together. Research nexus', shields and war magic. It will be neccesary. I also want each man trained in a very easy fire incantation to work on a sword. That is all men. Good morning."

The constant wind battered at the windows of the room I was sitting in with the five Lords of the Realm.

"The Mind Mage has declared war on us! Oranis maybe teaching his petty tricks to the army, but that won't be enough!" Said Lord Athrul, banging his fist on the dark oak table.
"Maybe we don't have as many resources, but the men are well trained. Soon they'll have to go to war but we have the staff and the combined power of Myself, Dmitri and all the palace magicians. We can hold them off for quite a while." I replied, sour at what he'd said.

Meetings continued in this fashion until I watched the long columns of soldiers trudging the muddy roads out to Adrafar.

Claire opened Arella's door and placed the sword on her bed. Next she went to Vericalis' chamber and placed her sword on the desk. She had no use for it now. Finally she retired upstairs and went to sleep, dreaming of storm churned nights and wind tossed seas.

Phillipa and Ewart Green were once again training. It had become a regular slot in their days as the war approached. Both were formidable, one gifted with the ability to see every move an opponent would perform, one able to withstand such powerful attacks that she was, for all means, immortal. Both, however, were skilled warriors.

Phillipa swung her sword up and lazily parried her brother's glancing attacks. With ease she threw her sword into the air, drew several knives and threw them simultaneously at Ewart before catching her falling sword. Her brother flipped backwards and the knives disappeared underneath him. With lightning speed he ran forward and buried his sword in his sister's chest. She smiled, her long blond hair swaying slightly, as she grabbed him by the throat, threw him backwards and withdrew the sword from within her. The wound healed over instantaenously. Her brother rallied, drawing a tiny scroll inscribed with runes. He threw it towards Phillipa and spoke the incantation. Roaring fires enveloped his sister, but she strode out, completely unharmed.

"Ha, you should know better, Ewart," she said. "You'll have to use better magic than that to hurt me. Wasn't that your last level three fire scroll? Oh too bad." With this she tossed his sword back towards him and they continued fighting, neither one beating the other.

"We are at war! I refuse to let such trivialities undermine my ruling!" I shouted at the damned council. Who did they think they were telling me to do things like that? I'm in control here! I stormed out of the room, and into my private chamber.

The army left three days ago and Dmitri went with them, telling me he'd teleport back even though he hasn't yet. It's too quiet in here. I feel empty and lonely. When will he be back?

Countless meetings with heads of staff left me bored out of my mind! Time and time again being told the same thing, ordering the same orders, does nothing ever get done in this stupid place?! Must I do everything?! I ran through the countlessly long corridors in anger before I ran into something hard. It made a noise; I looked up and there was Dmitri towering over me with blood and gore spattered over him!

"Empress! We need your power near Adrafar! They are too strong to hold back!" He shouted, holding me by the arms.

"I'll get my staff..."

"No! There's no time! We'll have to teleport" He grabbed me as I tried to move away. We appeared somewhere and dissapeared so quickly I was dissorientated. Loud bangs and crashes startled me until I realised we were at the battle field. "Empress, we need you, call your strongest demon!"

Quick to recover, I summoned at first a weak demon then moved up through the ranks until I had complete power and control over the thousands of demons in the staff. I will show these fools what the Empire can do! I thought, as I sent them in a stream of fire into the walls of the great city of Adrafar!

Claire, Arella, Vericalis and Drax stepped out into the cold.

"Leave it to me, " said Claire. With a fluttering they were enveloped in air. In a fraction of a second they appeared on a hill observing the great battlefield of Adrafar. It was three days into the war that they had felt the time to come. Claire effortlessly rose into the air, a nimbus of white light surrounding her. The fighting momentarily stopped as she errupted in energy. The soldiers looked up as the figure sent a great burst of wind towards a column of the Mage's men.

"I think," said Vericalis. "It is about time we joined in."

The Mage was filled with rage as he felt the burst of energy against his walls.

"Notte, Phillipa, Ewart, Ebrius, Hestia and Ilian. It is time that you went out there. Show them the true power of Adrafar. I shall come aswell," said the Mage, summoning his scythe. His smooth face shone with fury as the palace removed itself from the ground and flew upwards, over the walls. The Mage led the way to the great balcony and with ease flew off of it. The others followed, Phillipa undamaged by a fall of fify metres and landing on her feet, Ewart carried by Ilian and Hestia supporting herself on beams of light. Ebrius stayed on the balcony, raising a staff and calling lightning down.

The Mage landed, his scythe slicing off the head of a Imperial Mage, the victims attacks bouncing off him, and the victims head bouncing more successfully. With a telepathic roar the Mage brought his scythe down into the ground and sent a hundred men, of Adrafar and the Empire flying outwards.

The shield around us protected me from the majority of the fire/arrows/shrapnel and various other oddaments they decided the throw at us. My vantage point just behind the mass onslaught on the field let me see what was happening below. The Empire had advanced first before being driven back, then advancing, then retreating in a constant cycle. No one seemed to be losing yet. Well, so I thought until I saw the minions of the Mage fall to the floor. Unfortunately they didn't break their legs...

Lightening rained down on the massive field, illuminating the death and gore, lighting up where the blood drained down into a red, steaming stream. The silver scyth plowed through skin and flesh, swords clashed and the general mayhem and disorder shocked me. However, there was no time to stop and stare. The thousands of demons ravaged the Mage's army, but I don't think we're winning.

The Mage raised a hand at a demon of fire that was approaching. With a groan like an earthquake the demon contracted, squashed into a tiny ball of energy. The Mage focused a telepathic attack at it and it shattered into tiny fragments of light. With a swish the scythe spun around, ripping through a man.

Ebrius Nacht once again focused his powers, summoning the rains. With a roar of thunder another bolt of lightning hit the Empress's shield. The rain began to patter down, becoming heavier and heavier, forming into great golf ball sized drops. With a cry he summoned the winds...But they wouldn't come. He tried again, but they just wouldn't answer. Then he saw the rush of light and the figure in the distance. A greater commander of his element was here.

The heavy rain soaked through my clothes, soddening me to the bone. Shivering, I was thankful for Claire's great air control power through not just the stone but her own magic too, as she stopped the wind from getting much worse then it already was.

Physical pain stabbed me as one of my favorite demons was pulverised by the Mage. Anger coursed through me and I sent an even more powerful attack at him. All I recieved was a cold stare that even the hundred or more metres could not stop me noticing. How dare he?

I ordered the soldiers to attack again, more fiercly. We drove them back fifty metres before they started to gain their terrible control again. Light from my staff blinded the Adrafar soldiers, allowing the Empire to strike again. The Mage just laughed.

Dmitri whirled through the air, his claws swiping through flesh and his detonations wreaking havoc on the mage's forces. With a twirl of his cloak he disappeared, appearing infront of a great warrior with no armour whatsoever...Just basic garments and armed with a long sword. Quickly Dmitri stabbed forwards, his claws burying themselves in Phillipa Green's flesh. In answer she lifted him up by the next and threw him away with great strength. The wound made by his claws had healed over instantaneously. One of his claws was lying on the floor, after detaching itself when she threw him. He drew a kinfe in his spare hand, leapt forward and swiped at her throat, cleanly slicing through. He expected her head to loll onto the floor, but as he looked up he realised that even as he was slicing through her neck the cut was already healing over. With a sigh Phillipa Green slashed forward, across his chest. The thin armour plating he was wearing under his robe was what saved him, and the cut was only shallow. In desperation Dmitri whirled around once again and disappeared.

Lifting the staff high, the gale blew hard around me almost sending me tumbling down the hill face. I steadied myself and called power too the staff. It swelled and rose in a giant golden wave before sweeping through the enemy lines, knocking back one hundred... two hundred... almost three before it died. I noticed, with pained agrivation on my part, that three of the Mage's minions were undeterred by the terrible power I welt. Even extreme use of the water stone seemed to go unnoticed... What? are they immortal or something?
