"I'll rest on one condition. One and only one," she said, narrowing her eyes as she stared at Night.

"Get me cookies. Soda and ice cream would be nice, as well." And she expected that the response would be amusing. Many things she did were for responses alone. Plus, she absolutely loved sweets.

Suddenly Hiei was in front of Kurama, eyes dark and anything but lenient at the moment. He reached out and took hold of Kurama's shirt to pull him down close—face to face. He could detect the flowery scent of the other from this close distance.

"Kurama," he snarled. "are you going to daydream like a inane ningen or are you going to help me?"

He tightened his grip.

"You expect me to do that how, exactly? Run after you, perhaps?" The fox did not take kindly to such treatment, no matter that it was Hiei, and his tone strongly reflected that. The constant nagging of hurrying was irritating, but this, this just finished it off.

He pulled himself from the other's grip, composing himself a bit before speaking again. "Go ahead if you must, nothing is keeping you here with me. Frankly, I might enjoy that more."

And he simply began walking again, in the direction that seemed best. From his previous life, he vaguely remembered hearing of a place near this. For a price—what, he wasn't sure—they could have a portal opened. Unfortunately, he knew nothing of the place, now. Or even whether or not they could leave the grounds.

Hiei was actually surprised at the fox's cold response. It seemed the Jaganshi wasn't the only one in a bad mood. But, all things considered, it might've made more sense that he would be in a better mood. They had the antidote, right? They were leaving, weren't they?

Abandoning his blank stare at the other as he walked away, Hiei spat something under his breath and sped past Kurama. One of the vials containing the antidote flew from his grasp as he tossed it behind him. If Kurama wanted him to leave, then fine. Take your filthy mother's medicine. I don't care.

With that, he sped far ahead of the fox, not waiting and not looking back. A thought crossed his mind about the psychic. Did she still have barriers up? He would soon find out.

Effortlessly, the fox caught the small vial. At once, he was interested in it. He couldn't quite place why, but it seemed to radiate the youki of their hostess, as well as being the same color as the candles.

And that same color began forming around the castle and the surrounding land, tinting the sky burdundy. Kurama could conclude that the Koorime had triggered a trap of some sort, or just signaled to the woman that a barrier was needed. Which might be even more of a drain on her, and that could benifit them.

He bit back the slight guilt he was starting to feel, not liking his own behavior one bit, but thinking an apology was out of the question. If nothing else, let this be a lesson to the little youkai, one that showed him that he could not always order the kitsune. And that was exactly what kept him from calling out to the boy.

((Sorry if I do anything out of your planning. XD I'm trying my best not to take too much control.))

The surrounding land was no longer easily visible to the Koorime. Trees were a blur, grass was nothing and the air pushing his hair back and brushing against his cheeks was merely an indication of how fast he was going. Which was pretty fast by now.

Though he suddenly felt a change in the energy, a small fluctuation as if something had just become active. He had just looked up to see the oddly-colored sky when he hit something hard. Flying back and hitting the ground, elbows slamming into the grass and a wave of short pain shooting into his arms, he hissed and quickly got back up. Thoughtful eyes stared into the space in front of him. He threw the katana, and it stopped in mid-air as if hitting an invisible wall.

A barrier.

Hiei yelled into the space in front of him, voice full of frustration and utter disdain.

Night brought soda, ice cream, and cookies to Kasai without question. Frankly, if she could ask for sweets, she was doing better, and the sugar would speed up her metabolism, and healing, for a while. Being intelegent by nature, she also brought water. "Anything else, oh royal sugary-ness?"

After making Kasai comfortabe, she walked out to meet Carlos. She saw the sky change, and smiled.

Barrier, she thought. A few seconds later she heard an angry roar, probably of frustration.

Carlos walked up. "¿Silbaste?" (You whistled?)

"Yes, you must not hurt or irritate them. But do bring them this," She handed him a pack. "They'll need this. I'm sure they are getting tired and grouchy..."

Carlos nodded and grabbed the pack, running off again.

Whay did she care? Wasn't she the one who was pissed at them? Carlos shook his head. That girl was bi-polar.

Only walking, when the fox finally got to the barrier, all he had to do was feel it with his hand to know he couldn't pass. Such a thing did not come as a shock, so he wasn't disappointed more than slightly.

The two main things that bothered him were things he hadn't gotten this whole time. Food he didn't have to worry about being poisoned, and basic hygiene.

He had recognized the scream earlier, but knew the cause, and that Hiei wasn't in danger. Had the red-head thought he was, chances were that he would have been there in a flash, probably having changed forms along the way.

Hiei was speeding a different way now, katana sheathed safely. He once again hit a barrier. Growling, he tried to search for a weak point, though failed. There were no weak points, and his Jagan was being of no help. If he returned to Kurama—no. He wasn't done being angry with the fox. The Koorime's stubborn behavior was well-known, after all.

Now balancing at the top of a tree, his eyes scanned the area harshly, slowly and angrily.

There was absolutely nothing of interest to do, so the fox decided to do some experimenting on the barrier, testing it. His rose did not go through it, but birds seemed to be able to. Other plants that swayed in the wind went through. And this bit of information lead him to believe that only creatures with youki were unable to pass. But how would that explain the rose?

He continued to examine best he could, using logic rather than force to find a weakness in the glowing cage. And this, currently, seemed impossible. So, still, they were prisoners of the psychotic demoness, or rather, their hostess.

Kurama lowered himself to sit under a tree, just to rest for a while, but definitely not sleep. His thoughts occasionally roamed to the hi-youkai, but those were the thoughts he suppressed, prefering that his mind not torment him and let him ponder about other things, like what he might say to his mother when he saw her again.

Hiei raised a hand to the barrier slowly, as if moving fast would make it react. Then, very quickly, a hand was brought to the cage sharply. The hand was withdrawn after a quick sparking sound, and it had slight marks under the fingers as if it had been burned. He could not find a way to pierce the wall.

He wasn't willing to try his dragon against it. Not now. Though the particular youki in his arm was pulsing and making him draw in air through clenched teeth. A small slice along his hand was enough to soothe the Koorime.

Carlos followed the scent of the fox, seeing as he was able to discern the scent of flowers easily, and trotted through the forest. It was slow going, because they were going in circles. But Carlos loved a hunt, even without blood, adn he felt a bit happy around Night, so he kept going.

Eventually, he met the fox, sitting beneath a tree.

"Hey," He called. He held out the pack Night had given him. "Night said to get this food to you. It's not poisoned, so you shouldn't worry about that." At the wierd look he was getting he added "Yeah I can speak Japanese. Get the food to your friend and eat." He dropped the pack and walked off. Let them eat, or let them die, he did his job and he needed a belly rub. He sniffed himself.

"Bath" he said. "That's what I need..."

Kurama had some appreciation for the consideration, but couldn't quite trust the food. Maybe he would try a very small portion, just checking to see if it had an odd taste, or sat well with his stomach. Only because he felt nearly dying, though, because even thinking of eating was against his better judgement.

The fox would have to, if he found the food to be safe, share with Hiei. That meant finding him, first off, and second, talking to him. A rift had been formed between them, it seemed, and so such a simple thing might make things worse... or better, if he planned it right.

He opened the bag, and nibbled on a few things. Whichever girl prepared it at least separated between them, so they each had a same share. And the Koorime wouldn't comment on the food being half-eaten.

Hiei watched the small bird with uncaring eyes, though there was a sense of curiosity hidden in their red depths. The small animal bled into the grass, flapping a desperate wing for the final time.

"You are very unlucky," the Koorime told the bird. And it was true. He had jumped into the air and slashed at a tree. The bird had tried to fly away at the wrong time. Most of its blood had already been drained from its feathered breast and Hiei turned it over with his boot.

The bird had done nothing wrong. Yet it had suffered. It was something Hiei found himself thinking about more than he should have.

Night scrubbed at course fur and made sure to get all the dirt from Carlos's paws. She hummed and poured the water over his wolfish head. She scrubbed his neck and , out of nowhere, there was a dull thump and a splash. She rubbed that spot again, and it happened again. She did it continuously, and was rewarded with a series of thumps, and water soaking her through as Carlos' leg went crazy...

She wasn't angry though. Carlos gave them the food, which she had filled with an un-tastable (is that a word?) substance. It was the equivalent a very potent happy pill, though only one serving had it. Revenge was good!

I hope they don't turn the food down.. she had a moment of worry, but it soon passed as she remembered that they hadn't eaten in, she couldn't remember! Ha!
