::Tiki was preparing his aid, pushing a pocket of energy through Trent's wound, flattening out the stagnant energies and flushing away the pain. Suddenly, the was a surge of energy, which knocked him back onto his heals... and Trent stood.::

Tiki grinned wickedly.
"Candle, candle, glowing bright,
in the darkness of the night.
The laughing cur who saves his life
Must always follow through the night."

His eyes had a strange wildness to them, and he was speaking less than coherently... though somewhat frightening, it somehow seemed more natural for him. He took three steps towards the den hole, moving fluently from two legs to four and back. Without waiting to see if Trent followed him, he darted madly into the underbrush along a faint deer trail through the tall weeds.

Dancing through the foliage nimbly, he called out,
"The secrets lost must first be found,
The vices learned unlearned.
Brave Candle must recover his past,
The cur to shed his skin-turned."

"Damn his riddles. Oh well, I guess I have to follow him." *Trent threw his arms out to either side and as he did so his energy wings burst out from his shoulders. He pushed off from the ground, and with a thrust from his wings he took off after Tiki.*

He called ahead to Tiki
"Where are we headed?!"

Tiki moved more and more nimbly as the undergrowth grew thicker and thicker. Soon he was dodging through impossible tangles, following the deer trail which was now only barely perceptible. He called out, laughing in a gruff, barking manner,

"In the heart of darkn'ng wood,
the bloodtomb's sunken bromwell is;
A-lost to all but hear the song
in evr'y pulse and ev'ry breath."

"Okay then... I'll just follow you and take it for granted that were headed ina good direction!" *Trent followed him smoothly, not worrying about where the path was, just dodging branches and tree limbs.*

Tiki continued weaving and dancing through the brush, which grew thicker and thornier, until the moon was at the Zenith, and he burst into a clearing with a stony structure half-buried to one side. He suddenly seemed to lose all interest and began sniffing at a fox trail suspiciously.

*Trent slowed as he saw Tiki stop ahead of him. When he got within 15 feet of Tiki he gave a thrust of his wings foward so that he stopped in mid air and dropped to the ground. His wings receded back into his shoulders as he stood.* "Tiki... what is it?"

Tiki said nothing, turning to face away from the clearing. His silence hung heavily in the air.

He shrugged.

The wind whipped up again, pulling at the limbs and leaves of the surrounding foliage. They swayed back and fourth, pushed away from the open mouth of the tomb. Stale, ancient air blew over the pair.

When it stopped, Tiki vanished into the woods, a quick rustle of the nearest vegetation the only sign of his movement.

"Tiki!...." *Trent's eyes couldn't even follow Tiki's movement. He doubted he could catch him if he tried. His nose caught the stale air and the stale air caught his attention. He turned and saw the tomb for the first time.* "What is... Did this scare Tiki away?" *Trent doubted it, but Tiki was acting more and more animalistic, it could be an instinct to run from something like this. Trent decided it would be arrogant to try and figure out Tiki's quirks, so he whisked it from his mind.* "Mind as well check it out." *Trent walked towards the tomb, the stale air becoming thicker as he got closer. He reached the tomb and placed his hands on the door.*

Tiki paused in a nearby meadow, surrounded by swaying grass that reached high over his crouched body. He peered through the individual stalks at a lonely fawn, and snorted. It was lucky he was not hungry.

At least, not for food. The quiet of the forest surrounded him, and he could feel his own mind clearly for the first time in his life. He was a predator, at heart, and a social animal, but he never belonged in civilized society. He belonged scavenging along craigy woods and scrublands, laughing at the moon.

From his position, he could still HEAR the groan of stone as the door fell open at Trent's touch. And he contemplated it, without words. Nothing needed to be said.

*As the stone door fell away, all that greeted Trent was darkness. Three stone steps was all Trent could see before it fell to complete darkness. It felt wrong, the darkeness, not real. He should be able to see the fourth, fifth, sixth steps. He should be able to see farther in, it was broad daylight out. Trent closed his eyes, waited a few seconds, and opened them again. His eyes were pure white, he looked past the door again, still nothing.* "Somethings not right, and Tiki knew about it.... and he didn't tell me.... He better not be up to something." *Trent blinked and his eyes went back to normal. He took one step in. He stood one one of the three steps he could see before. Now, again, he could only see three steps in front of him.* "That's the fourth step..." *Trent turned and shock shot through his mind. He was looking at where he had come from, but he could not see past the stone entrance now, everything outside the tomb was now dark. Trent faced the steps again.* "All I have to lose is my life..." *Trent took another step. He could still see three steps infront, but only now to the first stpe behind him.* "Surrounded by barkness, artificial, complete darkness...:" *He walked foward.*

Tiki had always had the nose for subtleties, but he could smell things he never smelled before. It wasn't that the sense was stronger, it was merely telling him more things. Information flew through the air and up his nasal passages, directly into his brain. It was quite the experience.

He turned to head back towards the clearing. He knew that whatever test lay in the bloodcrypt, it was meant for Trent alone... but Tiki could smell his hesitation, his caution. Though wisely applied, it was eating away at the aura of confidence- nay, the aura of sheer -duty- that had been encircling the young man mere moments before.

He paused by the mouth of the crypt. It was a place he didn't belong. But, where does a hound not follow its packmates?

*It had been about ten minutes now and all that Trent could tell was that the stairs were spiraling down. To what, he knew not. He had been looking at the same thing for the entire time he had been walking, three steps in front, three steps behind, and complete darkness otherwise.* "At least I know ten minutes backwards will take me out..." *That was the only sense of security Trent had right now, but he didn't know for sure if anything behind him was really there anymore.* "I better not damn die in this place." ~Damn right!~ "Waugh!" *Trent almost fell down. Raedra had scared the crap outta him.* ~Hahaha... Did I scare you little one?~ "Holy crap yeah." *Trent laughed, he always knew she was there, but his mind wandered so much that he lost track sometimes.* "Thank you Raedra." ~For what?~ "For just being." ~Well then you're welcome. C'mon, lets get to the bottom of this damn tomb!~ "Yeah!" *Trent started taking the steps two... three... four at a time. Jumping towards the darkness, his fear had left him, he had no reason to fear, ever, and he didn't know why he ever had. He has a force with him that cannot be rivaled.*

Tiki, too, slunk down the endless spiral of steps, further and further into the tomb. It was not a place he belonged; it was a jumping point for civilization. Honoring the dead. He belonged in a distant glade, where bodies are consumed and memories are little more than ghosts in the wind.

He was in such an odd place, mentally, not quite one thing and not quite the other. He should have lost the gift of speech, and all of those beautiful words. And yet, they were stuck in his brain, contradicting his instincts. He was rattled, to say the least.

He had no light to guide him, and his feet made no noise against the stone. Yet, somehow, surrounded by darkness, everything seemed very real to him. He could smell the lingering scent of death, far below, of history and mold and deep-grown roots. It was almost like creeping into a den...

*Trent bound down the stairs talking to Raedra all the while. He was actually having a good time considering he was completely surrounded by an unnatural darkness. He was having such a good time he completely failed to realize that it was slowly getting warmer and warmer.* ~Can you sense that Trent?~ "Sense wha.... oh, wow, it's not deathly cold anymo- Wuagh!" *Trent had taken a leap one step farther than normal, he had jumped five steps ahead, and apaarently the steps ended at four ahead of where he jumped from.* ~Wings!~ "Yeah." *Trent let his fire wings loose just at the right moment. The steps ended about ten feet above the ground, or above the shallow water I sould say. He flapped his wings and lowered himself to water slowly.* ~Trent... look up...~ *Trent was looking down to make sure no evil fish were going to attack his feet, so he hadn't seen why it was so warm this deep under ground.* "Wha..." *His jaw dropped when he looked up.* "No way... I may not remeber my past... but I would remebr those anywhere." ~This can't be...~

It was a long time before Tiki prowled into the swollen cavern below. He could see beyond Trent's flames, into the darkness. A variety of coffins and sarcophogi lay dormant, but they meant nothing to him, not anymore. Though, it seemed to him now that preserving the dead was a strange practice. Wasteful.

Trent himself was gawping at something further up. Tiki could see it; it caught the light in strange ways, throwing it around the open space of the tomb.

He snatched at the water, pulling a blind fish from the waters. It disappeared quickly, into his mouth.
