Sunclaw looked over, hearing quiet meows from the other side of camp. The tom's eyes focused on Darkcrest. Although Sunclaw could not tell what was being said, he could guess. Darkcrest looked proud and determined.
He has given up so quickly on his leader. The ragged tom thought suddenly, although inside he knew Darkcrest would make a strong leader for Shadowclan, and that Sandstar...Sandstar wasn't coming back. Sunclaw pushed away a sudden pang of sorrow- Darkcrest was right, it was time to move on.

Raggedtooth nodded with a smile, "I'll watch over camp until you get back then." He meowed prodding his friend in the shoulder with a grin. "Just come back OK?" he purred flicking his tail back and forth, happy that his friend was ready to rise to his calling.

Darkcrest managed to smile a little, though nervous. He poked Raggedtooth's shoulder with his paw, smiling. "I'm trusting you to keep the camp in order!" The black tom shook his fur, giving his chest a few quick licks before jumping onto the place where his leader once called news, drawing in a short breath and calling, "All cats old enough to fight in a battle gather for a Clan meeting!" He made sure not to stutter, or not crack his voice, the familiar words his leader said echoing. Waiting for the cats of ShadowClan to gather, Darkcrest gathered himself, thinking of what to say. How would the other cats react to me suddenly taking Sandstar's place? Perhaps it would be better to look for him...maybe all hope wasn't lost...? Darkcrest sighed, looking at his paws. "What hope..."

Raggedtooth purred and quickly took a place in the front to listen to Darkcrest's first meeting of the clan. He's doing good! He can do this, i know he can. He thought with a nod.

Sunclaw looked up at Darkcrest with mixed emotions. There was no cat he trusted more, but what about Sandstar? Was he really not coming back?

After most of the cats had gathered, he took a deep breath, thinking things over a last time. "As most of you--er--all of you know, Sandstar has been..." he paused hesitantely, then continued, "...been taken by Twolegs. It has come to my attention that he's probably not going to come back, as most of you have suggested...but, before I get headstrong and decide to take place as leader, I'm going to set out to find him." His eyes were glazed over, and his whole body was shivering, perhaps that wasn't the right thing to say. "So, in short; before I go to Moonstone, I'm going to try to find our leader, Sanstar. If I fail to return....you all know what'll happen. That is all." With his final three words, the black tom leaped off of Highstone, licking his chapped lips. He felt as if he had completely messed up, like StarClan had thrown him to the edge as if to say, "Darkcrest, you're on your own."

(Hm...While Darkcrest is looking for Sandstar shouldn't there be someone in charge. Like make another deputy present to watch over things? rolleyes Hmm Raggedtooth sounds good lol)
Raggedtooth sighed his head turning towards the sky, Watch over him as i will watch over this camp. He silently prayed his eyes closing as the wind ruffled his fur.

Darkcrest gasped slightly, he had already messed up. He leapt back onto the rock, yowling, "Ah, pardon my clumsiness, but I have also one more thing to announce. While I'm out looking for our previous leader, I'm going to need someone to watch the camp. So, for the few days I'm away, Raggedtooth shall be looking over the Clan, and I would hope that nobody would give him too much trouble. Thank you. That is all." Leaping off again, he prodded Raggedtooth's shoulder, meowing, "Good luck, Raggedtooth," before bounding into the forest, wind ruffling his fur.

Raggedtooth spun around watching his friend leave camp. His chest was filled with warmth at Darkcrest's trust in him. He dipped his head and turned looked around at the gathered cats. He already knew what needed to be done. "Alright, first things first. Sunclaw..." He meowed turning around to look at the Tom. "Take out a patrol and check the surrounding borders. We need to make sure those two-legs are actually gone. Be careful." He meowed nodding his head towards the Tom. "I will wait for your word on the all clear before sending out any other patrols." He meowed looking towards the sky once more. Be careful Darkcrest!

Darkcrest stopped running, bringing his pace down to a slow walk, glancing around and sniffing the air. The trace of Twolegs was stale, but it wasn't comforting that you could still smell it. Still, the tom sniffed about, following it as best as he could. "Sandstar, Sandstar....where are you!?!"

Sunclaw nodded seriously- Something rare for the daredevil tom. Sunclaw looked around quickly. Most cats seemed to be busy, but a few seemed free for a patrol. Slipping through the crowd, Sunclaw padded over to Ivyleaf. "Can you come with me? Raggedtooth told me to get a patrol together..." Sunclaw felt momentarly stupid. Ivyleaf would know already, Raggedtooth announced it in front of everyone. The feeling passed quickly, however. Now was not the time to get caught up worrying.

(Aagh, I'm sorry, I forgot I was in ShadowClan.)
Ivyleaf nodded. "Of course. I feel bad sitting here doing nothing." She got up, ready to search around the borders. "I really hope the Twolegs are gone from Clan territory all together. I hope the other Clans haven't lost their leader and medicine cat as well..."

Darkcrest was still sniffing about, when the trail stopped, about a few good fox-lengths away from a lake, which he had conveiniently been led to. Perhaps they had crossed the lake....? But it didn't seem possible, because he didn't see any of their brown-and-white water-monsters. "Mysterious..." He padded closer to the shore, glancing about and seeing a huddle of Twolegs scrambling around, speaking jibberish. Quickly, and quite terrified, the deputy leapt into the bushes as the beasts passed him, not even noticing. "No care for the cats, eh?" Darkcrest sneered, huffing angrily. Calm down, Darkcrest. This is going to be an...er...angering....journey. But it's for the Clan, and your Leader. He padded through the brush of the bushes, glancing under every few seconds or so.

Shortkit brought his large eyes up to Lightningkit. "Its...ok." he managed to force out the sounds. Tears streamed his eyes evne more when he heard Darkcrest already taking over. What if they really couldn't find his father?
