Arriving on the scene, Mannaz stared in disbelief, the battle seemed to have stopped, even after that violent flare of dark energy, but no one was dead. Everyone stood there, seeming to be talking about something that Mannaz didn't understand since he wasn't there for it. Quietly he slinked back beyond the treeline that was created from the clashing of energies. This is out of my hands now, I can't intervene with the dark affairs like this.

Pacing back and forth nervoulsy Beryl could find nothing more he could do. He was hungry, agitated, and had this uncanny urge to clean himself everywhere with his tongue. Something moving caught his eye, and his first instinct was to pounce on it, but he stopped himself from that. Instead he leapt against a tree and scaled it quickly, climbing into some of the lower branches and nestling himself there for now.

His eyes flare violently as he sees Alyss stop his attack leaving the girl unharmed. Damnit all to hell!!!...what the hell was she doing here...this was his battle. "Alyss!!!" He roars "what is the meaning of this intrusion!!!!"

Alyss ignored Alec's question looking instead to Azrail.
"You should know that it was you who intruded first, though I was going to let it slide I draw the line at killing her. My general was always a dissapointment," glancing at Max with more than a hint of malice, "though I am impressed with how you contained her she is of no use to me anymore."

Normaly when people outrun Alyss's use they end up dead however she was willing to let Max live as long as Azrail kept her under control.
"I need someone who will be loyal to me and I wish to make Alec that person, she was very loyal to Beryll it's simple enough to transfer that loyalty to me in her mind."

Alec froze. Her whole body had frozen from shock. Alyss intentions where unbelievable, there was no way she would wilingly change loyalties. She would rather serve her days in exile without her powers, than serve that child.
Shaking her head she tightened her grip on her weapon and started to take a few steps back from them both, speaking in short whispers.
"No..no..never...."
Her mind was racing, trying to grasp the situation. She knew Alyss would get what she wanted one way or another. But how would she get the loyalty without stripping her of her own element or powers. As far as she knew only her god, Beryll, could do that.

His eyes widen in delight at the thought of one so loyal to the island of earth being turned to their side. He then looks down upon his slave...Max...summoning the chain of her leash into his claws and pulling on it roughly. "This is your general Alyss!!!...ahahahahaha...what a histerical concept" he says darkly as he looks at his pathetic slave girl.

Alyss glowered at Max. "Yes, thats what I thought. Your welcome to keep your pet if you like, if you could help me with Alec's little realignment."
Jinx wandered over and sat at her feet crouching down Alyss scooped him up into her arms where he sat looking very pleased with himself.
"I'm afraid Alec you no longer have a choice."

Struggling and shaking, Mannaz stepped out of the treeline, and walked up to both Azrail and Alyss. His nerve was iron in resolve, but what he was about to do made even him afraid. Reaching inside of his coat, he pulled out his canteen of whiskey, and emptied the whole thing in one go, not even stopping his advance on the scene.

He was now within arm's reach of both the god and goddess of darkness, though his body was not shaking anymore. Through a voice that was nearly untouched by the alcohol that he had drank, he spoke. "Don't take Alec... take me instead. She may have brains and magic on her side, but my body is in much better condition, even for my age. Also, I have the power to use runes for many different things, scrying being one of them. I would be far more useful than the priestess of earth." It was a horrible thing to say, even though it was the truth. But he was a lowly warrior, easily replaced and hardly missed.

Alyss looked around surprized Mannaz had dared show his face. She stayed silent while he made his plee a grin becomming ever wider on her face eventualy bursting into laughter when he finished.
"You? You are nothing but a drunken fool."
Raising her hand and gesturing dissmissivly a wave of dark energy was released to push him back to the tree's he had come skulking out from.

He was sent hurtling back, but Mannaz rose back up. He may have been a drunken fool, but he was a determined one. Walking back into the open, he sighed lightly. Beryl was going to kill him for this if Alyss left him alive, but that didn't really matter to him.

"What you don't know is that I have been spying on Alec here for a little while now, and I had been relaying what I observed to Lord Beryl himself... I think that he managed to figure out what you were up to, even if I didn't realize it at first. If you take Alec to your island, Lord Beryl will have a window directly into everything you are doing. That can't be what you want... can it? Lord Beryl has a lot of bark, but I severely doubt that he would exile Alec."

Mannaz didn't think that the last part needed saying, that leaving Alec here would leave a window directly into Beryl's world if Alyss took Mannaz instead.

Alyss folded her arm resting her chin upon her hand as if thinking.
"Well now that's very interesting, I knew he had found out somehow but didn't know how. Very gratifying to see someone learn from my tricks."
Turning on Alec she grabbed the poor girl roughly by her arm dragging her to her side, whispering a warning under her breath as she did. "Don't do anything stupid or I may get the urge to kill him."
Staring hard at Mannaz a smile still flickered.
"It seem's I will just have to discover what manner of survalence she is under. I guess I could start by blinding her, no? Well I guess if thats not where it is will just need to try elsewhere. Her tounge perhaps? Or is it hiding in her flesh? You know skin can be stripped back so easily."

Alec flinched as her arm was grabbed by Alyss, but it wasn't the most painful thing in the world, she could deal with that. BUt what happened next she couldn't. As she was drawn closer to Alyss, she bit her lip in panic and worry. Damn it all...if Mannaz hadn't shown up she could have done something, but now that he was here his life was at risk. The last thing she wanted was to put anyone elses life at risk.
She moved her to say something, but it ended up in a small sigh scared sigh as she hung her head, simply absorbing all that was being said. So Beryll really hand't trusted her at all. He had Mannaz spy on her and now her situation had grown worse. It seemed death was no longer an option, neither was exile.
Her hands tightened as they hung at her side, fear was begining to take hold of her again. The sound of her flesh being peeled back, her eyes being blinded or even her tongue beign riped out all sent chills down her spine.
"Mannaz" She said quietly
"...please, no games. Just tell her. I don't need you rising your life for mine"
Her voice was shakey, and had no sense of hope in it at all.

Mannaz didn't move, and didn't flinch. Seeing Alec in danger like this bothered him, but his own reactions were slowing and he was growing sloppy. Perhaps having mentioning the spying to Alyss was not the wisest of choices.

Reaching into his coat, Mannaz pulled out all of his runestones. "I used one of these to spy on her... that and a magical mark placed upon her body so that I might use the rune to watch everything happening around her body. If you want the runes, then take them."

Holding out his hand, Mannaz held out the runes to Alyss. "Alec, I am not doing this for me, I think that you should know the truth, and hear it from my mouth before I die."

The faint smile turned into a wide grin as Mannaz gave in, his obvious concern was making this to easy. It was getting boring to say the least, she shoved Alec slightly towards Mannaz but kept a firm hold of her arm.
"You take them Alec and don't you dare drop any of them."
She didn't have a free hand right now between Jinx and keeping hold of Alec, sighing with frustration she pushed her cat onto her shoulders where he wraped around like a shawl. Having a free hand now she prepared the spell to leave but taking her time.
"Azrail, I'm going back home, feel free to hang around though."

Alec sighed as Alyss shoved her forward to take the runed from Mannaz. She had no idea what was going through her head now. Usualy there was some king of emotion, dread, fear, sorrow. But now she felt nothing but hopeles, she felt like she had been fighting a loosing battle, trying to protect thos she cared about when she only dragged them in one by one. Max had now become a slave to that vile creature, Beryll was trapped as a cat and Mannaz was at a loss. What had happened to this once very peaceful island? The island she grew up in, the island she treasured.

But now, the sky in her heart grew dark and cloudy. She had given up. There was no way she could on level with the gods. Not without breaking some forbidden seals and sacrficing her life. Now was not the time to start envoking the spirits of the higher powers, though it did seem like it. But Alec knew that if she picked the time wrongly then it would have been a waste...she wasn't a priestess for nothing.

Stretching out her hand, she gently took all the runed stones from Mannaz, her gaze fixed on the ground avoiding his eyes. As she gazed at the ground she noticed the sun beginning to fade. The ring on Berylls neck would be snapping neck, releasing him from the bind, although it would leave him very weak.
Quietly she whispered to Mannaz as she walked back to Alyss.
"Look after Beryll"

Mannaz nodded, motioning downward with his eyes as Alec took the stones. The drunken stupor was mostly an act, he was still sober enough to have thought about how to help Alec. Attached to one of the strings was a small scroll, folded up to look just like one of the stones.

Whispering quietly before turning and walking away, he said something which was kind of jumbled together, and difficult to understand. "Toucherwithit."

Walking away, Mannaz headed off towards the tower again, hoping that Beryl had made his way back.
