I remember watching a behind-the-scenes thing where they were filming the "car blows up" part of the movie... I don't remember anything else related to that, though. And it did irritate me that they never explained how they got out of Antarctica. I also saw this movie in the theatres and bought the soundtrack... twice.
And the almost-kiss was epic. Almost as epic as the Rolling Stone cover where they were in bed together! OHSHI- I probably still have that issue somewhere too.
Red, did you ever hear the joke about Krycek being in the movie?

All of this reminds me that back in the day, I had an XF theme on my computer. So that meant I'd hear random XF quotes when my computer did something. Well one time I was watching an episode of the show in my parents' living room, and Scully was doing her "Mulder, this autopsy revealed something that's against science but I can't believe it!" thing, and right after she finishes I hear my computer chirping from my bedroom in Scully's voice "I've seen stranger things, believe me." I almost died from the ensuing laughter.

OH MY GOD I BOUGHT THE CD TWICE TOO! I LOST ONE AND OBVIOUSLY COULD NOT LIVE WITHOUT IT AND WENT AND GOT ANOTHER. heart rofl
And holycrap - that Rolling Stone cover. That. Cover. Made my week/life when it came out (and still kind of does). I have the outtakes from it saved on my computer. ninja
Bwahahaha! I miss full themes! I didn't get my own computer until I graduated highschool, but I did rotate my side of the family computer between X-Files and Sailor Moon centric. And BEFORE we got a fancy computer were we all had our own users it was one desktop to share and the first XF photo I ever saved (way back in like, Jesus, 1995?) it created a folder for it titled "sm_pic file" and I have used that name for my main folder of fandom-whatever since then on four different computers. It is a tradition now! It is the first thing I do when I get a computer/have a account on a computer. xd

What Krycheck joke? I have read a few, but I dunno about the movie...

Krycek had a cameo in the movie; it wasn't even a "blink and you miss" one either. There's a scene where Mulder is walking out of a bar (I think it was a bar, anyway) into an alley and Krycek is right there, running from one side to the other.

Awwww, poor Mulder desperately trying to piece his files back together and try to reopen his life's work only to get verbally b***h slapped by a FBI panel. emo (LOL - "Not to mention some very questionable travel expenses.")
And awww, poor Gibson all cut up and sicky... Where the ******** are this kid's parents?!
MASSIVE. SCULLY. DITCH. Less sneaky then other ditches, but more emotional and kind of mean. Scully had to work super hard to prove herself worthy of Mulder's trust (the woman still has to correct his language from "me" to "we"!) and then tralalala here comes Diana Fowley and she says some stuff and Mulder is all "Yeah, OK I believe you" - I am irritated on Scully's behalf. And what happens? WHAT HAPPENS? Fowley throws Mulder under the tracks and hides information and dahdahdaaaah Scully rides in on a s**t-ton of science helping Mulder's quest. Wise up Mulder, ya jerk.
AND AWWWWW SHIIIIIIIT. Kersh won't put up with yo crazy-a** Mulder. I love to dislike Kersh. I thought he was a great "villian" to foil Skinner's cool G-Man-Hip-to-the-basment-ness. Yes, that made no sense. Go away.

There is a awesome fan vid called "Pavement" by the vidder Astarte that focuses on Scully's frustration with Mulder's lack of trust and the entire situation with Fowley.

Story time! OK, so the fake news report at the start of this opening got me bad. After The Simpsons I flipped through channels waiting for this episode - when I come around I was like "What is this car chase crap?" and am all pissed my XF time is on hold. I flip around again and then back and BAM Mrs. Crump's head explodes. I freaked the hell out - then DING the opening starts and then I just laughed hysterically. So obviously a fake newscast now but whatever - I was a impatient teenager. s**t looked real. xd
I really like this Vince Gilligan script, and concept, a lot but this isn't Rob Bowman's best directing. Everything is kind of... generic? I don't even know entirely what I mean - but it feels lacking. I think a lot of that is the new crew figuring their style out, and the fact that Bill Roe likes to cast a more color scheme on the show than a lot of the Vancouver cinamatographers (probably because he has the sunlight to do it).
OF COURSE this is the first time Vince Gilligan works with Bryan Cranston - the two later unite with Breaking Bad. Which is awesomeness.

Agreed! I actually really like the idea, and I liked the dynamic between Mulder and Crump, it just falls flat due to primarily taking place in a car with two angles.

Triangle:
This episode is two things.
1.) A experiment. This was partially created as a challenge for the crew and the actors involved, it is a experiment on their abilities to crank out visually interesting camera work and entertaining performances in as few cuts as possible.
2.) CHRIS CARTERS' FANFICTION FOR HIS OWN SHOW. I am totally being serious right now, that is my actual belief. I truly, really, believe CC sat down one day and wrote a fan fiction, and because he is who he is - it is this episode. It has fanfiction commonalities WRITTEN ALL INTO IT but you can easily overlook them 'cause this is a ACTUAL EPISODE. It is, if any of this crackpot theory is true, BRILLIANT!
Fannish quirks found in this episode include but are not limited to: Outside material loosely retrofitted into the background of the piece (for "Triangle" that is a ton of Wizard of Oz homages - in fic the device is often times a song) ultimately tying it together; detailed call backs to characterizations; "big idea" X-File that is really just a ploy for Mulder in jeopardy; cute ending topped with warm fuzzies.
I loves it.

DAY 2: LEAST FAVORITE SEASON I don't really have a least favorite season, but the 3rd season has a lot of meh episodes for me so that is how I decided. It was either the 3rd season or the 9th and for the sake of being contrary I picked the 3rd.
