Tap, tap, tap.
The steps resumed the measured rhythmical walking, the soft tapping sound calmcoldcollected and most certainly not betraying anything that Tea might possibly have let slip in that short unguarded moment but he had been surprised too because heitthem they were too similar and.. and the cafeteria wasn't that far off. He could already hear the clicking of cutlery, the soft murmuring of people the smell of food faintly wafting and it wasn't far.
The tanned male nodded, once, eyes flickeringflashing again behind the locks of dark hair the curls somehow tumbling down into his eyes and it was too similar. "--someone." Already, Tea could feel the sort of blankness calmness stealing over himself like a blanket, a cover, a shell, somethinganythingeverything because they were they were too much similar too much sameness and.. and no wonder Tea hated thoughthehated him from the first glance onwards because they were the same so much!
He tried to shrug, and instead ended up with some kind of twitch-of-muscle thing that was hardly visible and left Tea with a feeling that he was making the whole business an even more of a big deal than it should be. Because he didn't care about Yamagawa and he didn't care about Zix either so it should just stop at that, should really stop at just that, the mild irritationdislikeannoyance and no more, but it wouldn't go away that sicknastycreepy feeling and.. and it was annoying..!
"I don't know." And it was true; the realization that they were similarsame was.. was bad because being similar with Yamagawa couldn't ever be a good thing, but.. but at the same time, it wasn't it had to be must not be bad ever because.. because something in the way that Zix asked that question 'is-it-a-bad-thing' just maybekindofsomehow told Tea that.. that saying yes wouldn’t be a good thing at all. He didn't know why, but it just.. it just wouldn't.
"It's okay. It's just the way you---" A quick glance over at the necromancer followed, and the tanned male shrugged slightly, this time coming more as a shrug than.. than some sort of weird somethingelse. "Nevermind."

He what? The way he what? What was Tea going to say? Zix wanted to know, because then Zix could maybe try and stop doing it, because there was just that sort of feeling that it was a bad thing even though Tea hadn't said it and Zix didn't want to remind Tea of someone bad. And...and if he knew he would stop, only he didn't because Tea wasn't telling him anything, hadn't really ever told him anything. Because it was Zix doing mostall of the talking and...
Instead, he just sighed, nodding slightly and following Tea. If Tea wouldn't tell him, then he could only assume that it was a slightly good thing, because if it was a bad thing what reason would Tea have to hold back from saying it? Because Tea didn't verily like Zix, so if it was a bad thing then there would be no reason for Tea to hold back from saying it.
Which meant...that it was a maybe possibly good thing...
The necromancer swallowed and dropped the subject, the distinct sounds of the cafeteria becoming clearer with every step. He didn't have a problem, but with Tea's aversion to him, would it really be okay? Sure, he kind of wanted to eat with Tea, but...but he didn't know if Tea wanted to eat with Zix, and Zix was happy enugh to leave and come back in a little while and eat if Tea wanted it.
Frowning, he shot a slightly worriedwary glance at the other, not stopping but giving the impression that he would if Tea wanted it. After all, even if noone visited or talked to him, most of the doctors knew who he was. And Tea just seemed...really image-conscious, and it probably wouldn't do anything positive to be seen eating lunchdinnermealthing with Zix, and...and he was willing to go...
If Tea wanted him to.

It was no good thinking about it. Tea shouldn't even be thinking about anything remotely related to the redhead, let alone think that the necromancer was like him, but..
But it was so hard to think about anything else when Zix was that close. To most people, it wouldn't be considered so close physically because all that Zix was doing was just following Tea down a corridor, but.. but Tea still felt the other's presence so close like prickling of needles and.. and it was altogether a curiousannoyingnew sort of sensation and it was too close.
If Tea had been alone, then yes, he might be able to think just quietly to himself shutting himself in his room and maybe, just maybe, come to terms with it in his own twisted way, but he couldn't because Zix was here, here with that incessant chatting and the somethinggrinthing and.. and just the general 'too-same'ness and it was so very entirely disconcertingdistracting to have someone around who was too similar..!
He could easily tell Zix to go away. Or make up some kind of excuse that would just maybe take Tea out of Zix's way for a few days. He could very easily do that; after all, he was an assistant, and an assistant personthing always always had some kind of jobs to do --however odd-- around the labs. It would be so very easy to just waylay Zix and just avoid the necromancer from this moment onwards. He could..
But he didn't.
Tea silentlyirritably brushed away the other's glance directed at him --because it didn't matter-- much like he would an irritatingannoying fly --which would have been kindofmaybe funny but wasn't-- instead turning round the corner and glancing inside the glass doors at the bustling cafeteria beyond. There were.. there were a lot more people here than what it usually was. His lips pursed slightly. Too many people.

"What do we do now..?"
Half-closed greenjade eyes flickered slightly at the soft question, lips pausing where they were resting lightly over the pads of the green haired male's fingers, the other armhand still wrapped tightly reassuringlyreassuring around Kiba's other hand and.. and it was alright. It would be okay. Eventually, because they were still waveringstaggering slightly and he could feel the unstableness still washing out from inside him inside them but.. but the shiverthing that Kiba gave before was.. was somehowmaybe definitely on a maybe-good side, and.. and so.. so it would be better. It was better already.
"Now..?" Yamagawa repeated slowly, lips murmuringbrushing softly against the smoothpaleslender fingers pretty fingers and somehow liking the feel of them against his lips. Another soft pressing of lips was laid yet again on the palm of the green snake's hand, and Yamagawa merely closed his eyes and hummed low in his throat, feeling like.. feeling content.
It was enough, it was right, it felt right, to just.. just sit here with Kiba holding Kiba kissing Kiba and nothing was wrong nothing would ever go wrong, and.. and it was just good and.. and Yamagawa really really liked it..
"Right now," Kiba's hand was warm, somehow. Nice sort of warmth, nice and fuzzy and.. and just nice and the warmth made the redhead absently press his cheek against the hand, half-nuzzling it. "Right now.. we'll just sit here for a while."
Because it felt good, even though they were covered with streakssmears of blood --their blood each other's blood-- and other god-knows-what on the floor --though Kiba kept his office pretty somewhat clean, you never knew-- and.. and even though there was that still familiar too familiar too vivid tang of fearpanic still weaving its way around inside Yamagawa, it was fading already dying already into a sort of faint sort of memorything, and.. and everything would be fine.
Of course, that had sortofsomehow swiftly flipped over into a brief tinge of guiltworry when he had caught the glimpse of pinkglitter wings slipping out in between the crack of the door, because he had promised he had promised to not leave Chou-chan alone but he had and now he was gone and.. and maybe he should go after Chou-chan because he was pink and innocent and.. and just too too not knowing anything about this place what it could do to him for his own good and.. and it was just too dangerous..!

Slowly, Kiba nodded against Yamagawa’s neck, relaxing some of the tenser muscles in his body. It…Yamagawa had said they would just sit, and that was okay, Yamagawa said it so it would be fine, and Kiba didn’t mind just sitting here and being here with Yamagawa because Yamagawa felt safe. And…and it felt good, being so close to Yamagawa and he liked it and didn’t…didn’t want it to stop, now right now, not when every movement Yamagawa made that was even slightly away made that fearpanick flare up, and Kiba didn’t like the fearpanick. That wasn’t a good feeling not at all.
Absently, he shifted slightly, pressing his lips against the side of Yamagawa’s neck and nibblingsucking lightly at the skin there. Because…because he could hear the low hummy thing and he could feel it feel the vibrations in Yamagawa’s throat and he could feel the reassuring pulse of the other’s blood running through his jugular and it was good and calming and reassuring and he liked listening to it. And there was just that snakey part of him that wanted to just get closeclosecloser to the vibrationsrumblinghumming because it was good.
He almost wanted to ask if it was really okay to just stay here, because they both had jobs --well, they kind of had a job; somehow there always seemed to e a lot of free time here-- and they had responsibilities to take care of. H, and there was Zanis and Chou, they certainly couldn’t forget about those two, because Zanis was…creepy possessive and Chou was…was Chou. And…well, he was Chou. He shouldn’t be allowed to just…wander or something. He didn’t know.
Speaking of…
Kiba pulled back --incredibly reluctantly-- from Yamagawa’s yummydelicious neck and spared a glance towards the window, where there was a huge lack of glitter-making pinkness beneath it. Which meant that Chou-chan was no longer in the room, which also constituted as a problem because really, Chou-chan should not be wandering around alone in a place like Metamorphoses. He needed someone around who was basically decent --of which the term did not apply to many-- or else the faerie would be snatched up and destroyed and just…it would be bad.
And bad just wasn’t good. So…
Sighing softly, he looked up at Yamagawa, eyesface carefullyflatly blank. “Do you need to go find him?” he questioned cautiously, part of him wanting to find Chou-chan to save him from the general badness of this place, another part of him cryingscreamingterrified that Yamagawa will leave and never come back. And he didn’t know what to do…

Everything would be fine.
Which was saying a lot, since Zanis was not the optomistic sort. The rain is falling? Oh, crops are gonna drown out. A little headache? Brain's hemmoraging, gonna die anyway. But now...now he wasn't feeling quite so pessimistic as usual. If anything, he was feeling a bit positive, almost as though he were...maybe...happy. That idea was stupid, of course, because Zanis didn't feel happy. Zanis felt glee and enjoyed watching people writhe in pain on his table, but he didn't feel hapy. Because happy was too foreign and Zanis wanted nothing to do with foreign feelings. He wanted nothing to do with anything he didn't understand, which included positive feelings, most other people, and electronics.
But the idea was there.
That he might be feeling happy.
And that was a little puzzling, but he didn’t worry too much about it, because if Butter was leaning in it meant that he wasn’t going away, and if Butter wasn’t leaving then everything would be fine, it would all be fine because…well, because Butter wasn’t going. So if he might be feeling a little happy at that thought, then so be it.
Plus, this just felt good. Kissing Butter touching butter being close to Butter…it felt god. Zanis had never liked feeling good –it always felt wrong smehow—but this…this felt okay. It didn’t have that same offness that it usually did when he felt something like this, which was a little strange, but he didn’t try to question it. So long as Butter stayed than whatever feelings he felt were fine.
He hesitated only for a second when the flickerflash of pain slipped through utter’s eyes, before gently twining his fingers around the zombie’s. He honestly didn’t understand it, but he didn’t want to hurt Butter. Even if it went against everything he normally did, Zanis didn’t want to hurt him.

Butter had never felt quite like this before.
Well, technically saying, he had not felt, full stop, other than the burningsearing sort of pain that he had to go through every few days or ever so often someone forgot to cool down the equipments or the temperature in the room or just forgot to wear gloves and.. and it had hurt, and that was a feeling. Of a sort. And.. and that had been the only thing that Butter could feel, the only feeling, the.. the only meaning to his existence apart from being slicedcutupopenedstitchedbleeding by curious fumbling handsknivesscissorsneedles.
But.. but now, there was a sortofmaybe different kind of pain, and.. and it was good, and.. and that was strangedifferent oh so very new. The zombie's half-closed eyes flickered, the goldenyellow eyes so very close the heat so very close, the warmthburning radiating out from Zanis into Butter where their bodies touchedfitted together and it was it was painful but sort of exhilaratingtingly shocking sort of hurting as well as the burningpainfulhotness, and.. and the mix, the goodbadfeeling all jumbled up together nicelystrangely nice, and.. and it was good.
And strange.
Butter had never liked pain before.
That thought sent a briefsmallfaint spark of puzzlementconfusionwhy --why Zanis?-- to his brain, but at the same time it wasn't so important, at least, not as much as this feeling this newness this goodbadmaybe feeling this.. this nothurting sort of burning because that was important not this and.. and besides, it didn't really matter, right? It didn't really matter if Butter was dead and Zanis was alive and he shouldn't really even be feeling anything but he was and.. and it was okay, it was fine and so nothing really mattered..
The handfingers deadpalecoldstiff tightened around Zanis' own, the skin already tinged redpinkraw and it hurt but.. but it didn't really matter, because with pain came that sparklytingly something which Butter wanted, which Butter wanted so much needed so much because that would mean that.. that he wasn't a nothing, right? And.. and Zanis didn't think he was useless, didn't think he was nothing, and.. and so this painpleasuretinglysomething also meant that he was.. was a something, and.. and so it was fine..

Fine. If Tea didn't want to talk about whatever was bothering him --and there was something bothering him-- then Zix wasn't going to pry. There was no use trying to get information out of a person who was unwilling to volunteer anything. And hey, if he ever got into Tea's confidences --highly unlikely, but he could dream-- then Tea might tell him then. But right now, a team of wild horses probably wouldn't get that informaiton out of the assisstant.
Meaning that Zix had no chance of getting the idea out in the open.
And if the fight was hopeless, Zix wasn't going to keep going at it.
Instead, he just followed, standing up on his toes and peering through the glass doors over Tea's head. There were a lot of people, all in one space, most of them eating. There was something utterly attractive about that picture. Most likely because it was such a rare sight for Zix to come upon. Really, a bunch of people with jobs eating food in one place that wasn't festering with vermin and homeless people? Almost like a dream come true!
He glanced back over at Tea. "Last chance to ditch me," he offered, swaying slightly on his feet. He wanted to go in but not if Tea didn't want him to go in with him. Because...because somehow what Tea wanted was terribly important, and what Zix wanted wasn't quite so much, and he could always just sit out here for a little bit and wait and then go in for food if Tea wanted him to. Because honestly, he wasn't going to jsut wander off and lose the cafeteria too, because he wasn't quite sure if he could find it again without help or a map or something.
And...it was a cafeteria...with food...so it'd just be stupid to lose it.

A thought came to Elis when he quite happily let the butterflyprettypersonglitterness examine his hand like some kind of curious specimen, turning it this way and that and covering it with more glitter than he could possibly have imagined there would be.
The Chouperson was pretty when he smiled.
Of course, Elis had thought plenty of things were pretty but they were things, not a living, breathing person. If he had ever said that someone was pretty, the reptilian usually meant that their rings were pretty, or their necklaces, or their earrings, or their tie-clips or.. or just something, not them. But not Chouperson. They were shiny and pink and pretty, but even without the shinypinkglitteryness, they were really very very pretty too.
Especially around the eyes.
"Pink is a good colour." Elis paused slightly, dark jade eyes sweeping over the other's glitteringshinypretty form. Somehow, somehow, something made the reptilian think that Chouperson might be a he, after all. Even though hesheitthem looked pretty and.. and pretty, there was.. there was something not so very girl-like about it. Maybe it was just him being strange and assuming things, but he just knew. "You are pink."
Swing, swing, swing went the hands. He should really be thinking about getting back to his room, except that he had to carry this ginormous humongous bigbigbig mound of glitter --he wished he had a trolley-- and.. and Elis was pretty sure it wasn't too far off.. just.. four right turns, right? Or was it left?
"Ano.. I was going to take them to my rooooom.." The reptilian hummed, quite unperturbed by the notion that he was, just might as well be, lost. Eh, somebody would come by sooner or later, right? Elis hoped that it would be sooner, because he was getting kindofmaybe chilly without his coatjacketthing and.. and he didn't like getting cold because his bloodbodything cooled down too fast and he needed some kind of warmthingwhatever.. and.. and his room was warmer.. "Bu~t, I don't know wheeeere I am.."

"Hai!" Chou was very pink. Pink was a very good color. It was a happy color and...and it smelled good! Pink smelled like bubblegum and strawberries and shampoo and good things that were good and so it was a very good color.
"But green is good too! And Elis is green." Because green was grass and sour apple and tea and those were good things too so green was a good color too.
The swinging hands paused momentarily at Elis' next words, before resuming up again.
"Hmmm..." Chou pursed his lips, apparently thinking this new bit of information. If Elisperson didn't know where they were, that meant they were lost. But how could they be lost when they were right by each other? By definition, if you were with someone else, then you clearly weren't lost, because there was someone there with you. So how could Elisperson be lost? Because Elisperson had Chou here with him. So Elisperson couldn't be lost.
He pulled his gaze from the shinyprettyswinghandness, grinning up at Elis. "Ne, we're not lost. Cause Chou is with Elis and Elis is with Chou. So we're not lost." Another bright grin before he looked back down at the sparlesparkle shinyness of their connected hands.
Elisperson wanted Chou's glitter, right?
And...and Chou had lots of glitter...
So...
"Nenene, Elis! Do you want my glitter?" The faerie looked up, all bright and sparkly and eager. "Cause cause cause, if you dooooo...then I could let you have my glitter! And...andandand you wouldn't need to take the mountain pileness because...becaise I have glitter!" And it was all the same glitter because Elisperson was nice and good and green so there was no reason for Chou's glitter to be anything but happyrainbowsparkle glitterness, and it'd be easier if Chou jsut gave Elis his glitter than trying to pick up and take away the mountain pile because it was so big so wouldn't it just be easier? Because Chou really did have lots of glitter, and it was just so hard to turn off that he didn't even bother trying, and sure he didn't know where it all came from but it did come. So if Elis wanted it, then there was no reason why Chou couldn't go to Elis' room and give lots of glitter. And...and it'd be easier sooooo...

He was in the mood to snap at people and bite their heads off. Really. This hadn't really actually happened before at all, not since when the said second-cousin boythingwhatever came by to be babysitted --and consequently killed-- and it wasn't a pleasant experience for both of them. Really, it wasn't.
And Zix and the said second-cousin --Tea had never bothered to learn their names; they seemed to sprout out of nowhere like mushrooms every time he went back for a visit. Something like.. L-something..-- were.. were almost exactly the same. The same kind of annoying bouncyaurathing. And.. and also with the other someone else that he hated and.. and it was annoying and they were too similar and being similar was baaad if it.. if it was that person and..
"Last chance to ditch me,"
"Seriously, will you just stop that?" Tea swiveled around, dark eyes glaringfixed irritatedly over the necromancer's form --why was he right behind me why-- a hand paused on the glass door about to push, and growled it out through gritted teeth. He could feel some startled sort of staring through the door at them, but he didn't care. Let them stare. His reputation was ruined enough for the day as it was anyway. Right now, Tea didn't give a damn about anything. Because Zix was.. was annoying and he was continuously offering for Tea to ditch him and Tea wanted to but he couldn't because.. because he just didn't..!
That was one thing, just one thing different about Zix from Yamagawa. Zix just had to be polite and not rude and.. and just polite to not come into his room --not that Tea wanted him to-- and he just had to keep on asking Tea if he wanted to go and it was even more annoying than Yamagawa, if possible, because.. because he had always done things without asking Tea always coming into his room without knocks always touching always too close always so always annoying and too close and..!
Tea hurriedlyfrantically checked himself, suddenly noticing the short sort of silence and the flickerflickersomething in his eyes that he hated, instead letting out a soft, sort of maybe exasperated irritated sigh. "You sound like you want me to leave you alone." Darkdarkannoyed glare. "Do you?"

Ooh, there was that annoyedangerflashspark in Tea's eyes, and it was rather pretty, in a way. Just...just the angerspark sliding through the dark orbs. It was pretty, was all. Did he really need to give a reason for it?
Humming slightly, he backed up a step, almost wary of how close in proximity they sddenly were. Really, why must Tea whirl around like that? He hadn't seemed quite so close when he was facing the doors, and Zix had rather liked standing so near to the other. Tea smelled nice. A sort of unnameable smell, but it was good nonetheless. And now he had to whirl around all sudden like and make Zix back away from the nice smell which was kind of annoying in a way, because Zix just knew that Tea probably wouldn't appreciate Zix smelling him.
No matter how good Zix said he smelled.
He gave another smile, this one seeming to flicker slightly at the edges with nothappybrightness. "I learned a long time ago that what I want doesn't really matter." He shrugged like it was no big deal, rocking back and balancing on his heels. "Right now, what Tea wants is most important."
So Tea just had to decide whether or not he wanted Zix to tag along. Because really, Zix would be more than happy to go or stay, whatever it was Tea wanted. But the assisstant had to decide and then he would know what to do. Because Tea kept being confusing and not deciding so he had to choose.
And really, you'd think it'd be quite an easy choice. Tea didn't like him, so he should just say 'Zix, go away,' and Zix would. So it was a bit of a question as to why exactly Tea hand't yet told him that. And thhen there was that connection to the someone who annoyed Tea --because his face flickerflashed annoyed when he had told about that someone-- and if Zix reminded Tea of that annoying someone then that should be just even more reason to tell Zix to go away, right?
But he hadn't.
Which was curious.

Doesn't really matter...?
Tea's eyes flickered again, but this time with a not-quite-angry sort of look in them, as the assistant caught the slightly weirdstrangesomething edge in the othe'rs voicewords and also the.. the weirdstrange smile that was a smile should be a smile because Zix' lips curved up like a smile how it should be how it should look but it wasn't somehow wasn't it was different and.. and not so happysomething, not so maybe so much of a brightannoying aurathing that Tea was somehow someway getting used to seeing on the necromancer and.. and more like..
Flickerflickerflashsomethingtoo much alike.
"That's stupid and annoying." The tanned male muttered, still sounding annoyed but.. but with most of the venomspitehissingthing gone from his voice. He didn't quite know why, but.. but it just was. Tea didn't know, but.. but it was, and.. and somehow, that fact made him all the more irritated at himself. They were still kindofsomewhat lingering too, which was.. drawing some sort of unwanted sort of staring from the others.
Not that Tea cared.
"The only thing I learnt around here," The assistant said stiffly as he turned again and pushed the door open, drawing his gaze away from the necromancer. Somehow, looking --glaring!-- at Zix was.. somehow awkward. Ish. Somehow. "is to just do whatever you want. Nobody gives a ******** do you want me to leave you alone or not?

Zix just gave another notquiteright smile, tilting his head to one side in thought. "Saa...not really. There's always someone who cares." And even if there weren't, it wasn't like Zix was going to just go out and take what he wanted. For one, it wouldn't be in any way good. And besides, it would just leave a funny taste in his mouth.
No, much better to just not want anything at all. Then there wouldn't be any disappointments when it all came crashing down around his head.
Humming slightly under his breath --not really heard as Tea pushed the door open and the cafeteria noises started up-- he leaned forward, locking his hands behind his back, acting rather oblivious to the stares of coworkers and notcoworkers from inside the room. "Ne, you still haven't said if you want me to go or not...?"
Really, was it so hard to choose? Just yes or no, one quick syllable, and Zix would never ever bother Tea again. Before or after lunchbrunchdinnerthing, depending on the answer, but would Tea just choose already? Because as much fun as this was, he wasn't really quite sure he liked not knowing whether Tea wanted him around or not. And if Tea didn't want him, Zix wanted to just go so he wouldn't have to be an annoying chip on Tea's shoulder anymore.
And besides, there was always that coldlonelydark morgue he had so much fun in. Really, how could he pass that up? All those dead guys made great conversationalists, you know.
Goddammit, would Tea just choose something...?!

This time, there was a slightly searchingpondering look in the way Tea glanced back at the necromancer, though the half-sort of maybe curiosity stopped at the eyes, not going any further than that. There.. there was something off about the smile, definitely. Tea just wasn't quite sure what it was. Or why he wanted to know more. Silently cursing under his breath --whywhywhywhywhy?-- the tanned male merely gave a twitch of lips, hesitatingpaused on the threshold of the cafeteria. "Someone of no importance."
Why was he trying even to convince Zix that nobody cared? Well, that wasn't quite the point, maybe, but.. but Tea didn't didn't like that smile, that.. that strangeweirdoffwrong smile on the necromancer's face and he wasn't sure why but he wanted the offwrongsmile to go away. There was something about it that just made the assistant be on edge, something.
It needed to go away.
"Don't go." Was his short clipped answer, as he pushed the door further more and stepped in to the deafening noisy crowd. It always came as a surprise for Tea as to how many people worked around here. He deliberately did not look back towards Zix, instead focusing more on the big menu board hanging above them. "It would be forever etched onto my conscience if you went and got lost and starved to death." You couldn't hear the sarcasm drippingoozing out of the words, of course.
But then, nor was the almost-maybe grudging compliance.
