The group of six had walked a short distance and arrived at the carnival, all in awe at the sights and sounds that the entertainment had to provide. Amaya quickly took Mandrin’s hand and tugged him forward, a large smile on her face. “The entertainers are going to perform soon! Let’s go Mandrin!” she chirped, moving her head to look at her protector. Mandrin’s body had changed since he molted, something that Amaya had witnessed first hand. She was terrified at his shrieks and panicked when he blacked out, wondering if he would ever wake up. But it all came to an end and Mandrin had come out alive and fully developed. To be honest, Amaya was more worried about Mandrin eating than his lack of clothes throughout the ordeal. His voice was a bit different and his harpy form looked more dangerous, but he was still her Mandrin who loved her. And he seemed to refuse to leave her alone, which was fine by her.

Nariko watched her younger sister with a smile, lightly chuckling at her energy. She peered over to the slightly flustering Tenshi and couldn’t help but smirk. Despite how stubborn the older girl was, Tenshi couldn’t hide the fact that she loved Raban dearly by how she lightly blushed holding his hand or how she’d sneak glances of him from the corner of her eye. It was cute; it looked like Tenshi was scared that Raban would vanish or leave her, something Nariko hoped he wouldn’t do.

The younger twin then turned her attention back to her companion before turning away from him with a blushing face. For the life of her, Nariko couldn’t figure out where she stood with Samual. He didn’t hate her, she knew that for sure, but did he like her? How much did he like her? As only a friend? But he was very affectionate towards her and kissed her. What did that mean then? She mentally cursed herself for not dating and understanding all of this. Maybe if her twin was here, she could ask her since Hoshi and Kaito were together and had no real doubts between them. “So, um, which ride you want to go on first?” she inquired, then mentally slapped herself. Nariko has known that she normally comes off a bit of a tomboy, something that sometimes bothers her since no guy really takes her seriously or likes her. Her current concern was whether or not Samual liked her as a girlfriend or liked her as a guy friend.

“So how is my harpy doing?” a soft voice called out, the owner of the gentle voice revealing herself to be Hoshi. In her hands was a small tray of food, making sure there were no cashews in it. She glided over to where he was, setting the tray down before sitting on the bed next to him. Her gentle hand reached out and touched his forehead, wanting to be sure he had no fever before going over some other actions that one took to make the patient was no longer suffering an allergic reaction. Hoshi was grateful, though, that Tenshi had allowed her to take care of Kaito instead of the older woman healing him that same day.

Hoshi slipped her hand into one of Kaito’s, leaning in and giving him a chaste kiss on the lips before pulling back with a small giggle. “Looks like you are perfectly fine,” she confirmed before leaning against his shoulder. “You really shouldn’t be so stubborn when it comes to being sick; you’ll make matters worse if you don’t deal with it early,” she lightly reprimanded, grey orbs now locking onto the black lockbox in Kaito’s hand. “So, am I ever going to find out the mysteries of your box?” she teased.

▹►The Sarnai Brothers◄◃

Why can't we all
Just be friends?
I don't hate you
So why do you hate me?

This world is so loud
So dark...
So painful...
Why can't I just make it all go away?

The brothers actually going to this place of show were happily excited. The youngest, led by Amaya, held her had gleefully. He squeezed it on jumped in behind her, easily catching up with his longer strides. He and his body worked in perfect motion now, movemennts so fluid. He was still getting used to this thing here, his harpy fully alive. He knew one thing for sure, though. His voice had changed. It sounded identicle to Samual's. The only difference in their spoken words was not the voice, but the words said. Only Mandrin was saying his affection aloud, even if it was as innocent as telling his little daisy that she was pretty. Sure, Kaito might have said a few things, but in the state of bedrest he had been in, only Hoshi heard him. Mandrin giddily gallopped behind Amaya, soon being infront of her and leading the way. He didn't expect any of the other to hurry up to catch them as they entered the grounds, since Mandrin was pretty sure the youngest two were the only ones going for the entertainers. He might have been in feathers from the excitement, if he didn't have a better handle on his harpy. This was also the first time being out in public since.... It's been a while, to say the least. Being cooped up on personal grounds, houses and cages get stuffy, so this change in setting was nice, delightful even. He looked at all the people with a face only compaired to that of a young dog. So many bright colors, delightful sounds, happy people.... He smiled at the girl attatched to his hand. "Where to first?~"

Samual glanced over at Nariko when he knew she was looking away. At this moment in time, he didn't know what to do. He couldn't tell what Nariko was thinking half the time and her aurora was of no help. He had to tone down his aurora seeing, anyways. They were nearing the grounds and he knew far too well how quickly his ability could send him into a migrane. What gave him a quicker pain was trying to figure out what went inside this girl's head. He knew he liked her. He tried to show her that he did from time to time, but it was no use. No matter how close he wanted to get to her, he'd eventually blush and step down. She just wouldn't get how he felt! He looked down, realizing he had been staring at her with his artificially blue eyes. At the moment, his eyes were in a rish indigo, so it made no sence to walk into public with such an unusual color. Mandrin, though, was free. His usually slit eyes were normally rounded for the time being, so the soft gold was safe. enshi didn't cover her caramel eyes, so he didn't either. Samual didn't mind the saphire contacts much, having worn them all the time before meing captured. Which brought up that this was the first time being in public without having to worry about some stranger coming by and saying, 'Yes, I want this one. How much?' Samual glanced up at his twin, who hurriedoff with Amaya. They were cute. Samual had to smile at this, then he looked over at Nariko, catching her question. "Hm... I guess which even ones are making people scream..." He chuckled. By now, Nariko knew what he ment. He had told her one day that his specific siren was a Fear Eater, which ment he got a type of energy, a high, off other's distress. It was something he used to get a lot off of at home. Nothing good came from it now. He looked around, listening into the many voices and conversations around the carnival. It would seem the higher speed rides were the opposite way his twin was going.

Raban slipped his hand into Tenshi's carefully, knowing it would cause her to blush. It usually did. He had to smile had her, his pearl white teeth wide in happiness. He was going to spend this sunny day with Tenshi, his Tenshi. Okay, maybe he never said that she was his Tenshi yet... But someday. He wanted to so badly to make her his, but that was an unthinkable motion for the moment. He could tell his body craved her's on so many levels, as quite a few of his dreams tell him, but no. He hadn't done anything to her. Yet. He gave her a light squeeze and went along at a leizured pace. He had no rush to go anywhere. "So, Tenshi, anything in particular you wanted to do?" He wholeheartedly asked with a smile. He didn't care what they went to do, really. He didn't care that people going by would glance over the two, the silverette with charming eyes and the raven hair with blazing iceblue orbs. Let them look. They really were a stunning couple, kind of like what you'd see in one of those teen magazines. The day was young and he let the eyes sweep over them, since he was only looking at Tenshi.

Kaito lifted his head at the voice, eyes brightening by her words alone. His paled lips parted into a grin, ever so humble. His personal nurse, which he only dared call her in his head, had returned, and for that he was grateful. He was glad that Tenshi, for whatever reason, had not healed him the moment he fell ill. He didn't understand it one bit, but it was nice. The free excuse to spend so much time alone with Hoshi. While it was delighting, it scared him. His little siren in the back of his head was restless and wanted her body, in ways Kaito wasn't comfortable with. He doubted she noticed, though. He tried to avoid going to that place in his mind, but her perfect lips, whenever they touched his, set blaze to his mind. He wanted it.

Enough with the incompetence of a horny siren. Kaito smiled at his companion, welcoming her gentle touch. He might habe even leaned into her soft hand, crystaline blue eyes watching her's. He had full on saw her face move to his, but the blush burnt him anyways. Always, he'd blush. No matter how many times these surprise kisses and loves came... His cheeks became a warming pink, a charming blush. It absolutely ruined the idea that he could ever hurt a fly, let alone plow down crowds of fully grown men. This was a special Kaito, reserved for Hoshi. His savage sized hand entwined around her's, flexing his fingers between her's. "Ah, but I'd rather not be such a nuisance." He commented, then found her eyes on the box he held close. No turning back now, Kaito. He grinned wistfully. "I've wanted to show it to you for quite some time now, though..." He chuckled under his breath. "I might need that key for a moment..." Without asking, his other hand, the one that had her treasured stone grey bracelet, moved to her neck. He gently trailed a finger around the back of her neck, partly teasing her and partly picking out the key. He deftly untied it with the single hand, slipping the silver key away. He brought it to his box, pausing for a moment at it's opening. Inside were two simple things. One, he was afraid to show, for masculinity reasons. The other, for the reason that it was an item he had to carry to the grave. He leaned onto Hoshi slightly and opened it anyways. As he slid the lid open, it became obvious this was a music box. A simple melody played for him. He was silent for a moment, watching the small item of the music box spin. As with every lockbox, there was a mirror on the inside of the lid. The mirror appeared to show nothing. Just ever-moving fog. Infront of this mirror, a little white wing. Perhaps that of an angel. It spun slowly. Kaito sighed and closed his eyes. "When I was much, much younger, my uncle had given this to me. I had been a very sickly boy. Hurt by everything and always in bedrest. Such a frail thing..." He opened his eyes and looked back into the box. There was still the song playing. He loved this box for two reasons. One, it was a gift from his uncle, who had always treated him like everyone else. "My uncle never made exceptions for me. If I wanted something, he'd make me do it myself." That's where he had gained some independance, his will to move and speak for himself.

Also inside this box, a jewel necklace hid. Kaito scooped it up in his fingers. The stoned piece of history glinted ever so softly in the light as it twirled. The three pairs of wings judded out, the middle, biggest, resembling his own. There were a few sea-blue charms, the exact color of his eyes. The end of the key-like piece was like a blade, and it was. It wasn't dangerous to touch, though. In the circle of this jeweled item were two symbols. One, a snowflake. Obviously his season. The other, just above the first, a small berry. A sign of simple life. When Kaito's hand came close to the item, the three stones hummed, a small illuminant glow coming from the inside. Then, the song stopped. The wing quit movement as well.

Just once in my life
I think it'd be nice
To just loose myself
Loose the monster inside me
And be free

I was once asked why I care about my brothers
More then I do myself
The answer is simple, you see
When I'm gone, they must not depend on me
They need to heal their own wounds
Fight their own wars
And speak their own words

Amaya’s joy could be easily read as Mandrin’s. she was practically glowing with elation. It was her birthday, she finally got to go outside in public, and she was with Mandrin. It seemed that he was fine now, which was better than any gift she could receive. His voice was not the one she was used to, but she could tell who was talking to her in a heartbeat. There was no way Samual could make her heart flutter or make her smile brightly like her golden harpy. Besides, she doubted the indigo eyed twin would place his attentions on her when he had a certain blue eyed girl to keep him busy. She smiled back at Mandrin, giving his hand a squeeze before wrapping her other arm around his. The crowd was beginning to thicken and the people were not too polite on the smaller girl. Besides, it gave her a reason to be closer to her twin. “Hm…how about the acrobats? They are under the big tent,” she chirped, hugging his arm to her chest. “If I’m doing something you don’t like, tell me, okay?” she said with some concern. While the two of them were more publicly affectionate than the rest of their kin, she was still silly in the sense she thought Mandrin would not want or like her attentions.

Nariko let out a small laugh at his answer, her own azure eyes sweeping over the grounds and let her sensitive ears catch the sounds that would indicate where the rides were. Without thinking, she laced her fingers with his and tugged him forward. She led him to a roller coaster, her grin wide as she heard the screams and nervous talk of those in line. Once in line Nariko let her hand go limp, her fingers barely holding on to Samual’s and giving him the choice of what to do. This guy frustrated her like no other. He acted like he liked her, and then turned around as if nothing happened. She let her eyes wander a bit, looking at the mostly siren brother by her. When she was with him, she was calm; at peace. She wasn’t angry while around him; as if his lazy aura mingled with her own and told her to take it easy. She moved her eyes forward. “It sucks you have to wear those stupid contacts. I like your indigo eyes, even when they change color. It almost makes me feel like I’ll be able to understand you,” she said, tapering into a chuckle. Her cheeks lightly burned pink, avoiding looking at Samual in hopes to save her dignity.

Tenshi, of course, blushed but gently but squeezed Raban’s hand back. She walked by his side, amber eyes bright with curiosity and happiness. “Nothing comes to mind; I’m just excited to come to the carnival. This is the first one I’ve ever been to. I normally sent the girls if there was a festival in town but I was always forced to stay inside. Though, it feels strange having all my girls out of my sight. I feel like I have to gather them all and make sure we stay together. But I trust your brothers with my girls, just as I trust you to take care of me,” she confessed, looking at Raban out of the corner of her eyes. Her cheeks were stained pink, but she did not move away or take her words back. She was trying to be more honest with herself, but mostly with Raban.

She looked around once more, noticing that people were staring at her and Raban. Her cheeks burned in embarrassment and she looked away, feeling incredibly self-conscious. She moved closer to Raban, not wanting to be more in the public eye than she has to. She was going a bit out of her comfort zone with her outfit: she wore a pair of jean shorts that hugged her hips and showed off her toned legs. She wore some simple shoes that she simply had to slip on. Her top hugged her torso, having just enough of a v-neck to let everyone know that she had ample breasts. But what really made Tenshi be out of her comfort zone was the fact her chest was not bound. Her sisters wore similar outfits, though their shorts hid more skin or was less provocative. Gathering up her courage, she gently took Raban’s hand and let it rest on the curve of her waist. Her cheeks burned but she settled her hand on his hip before looking up at him. “Is this alright?” she asked softly.

If she wanted to be honest with herself, Hoshi had to say that Kaito was adorable. It is not his physical features that made her come to that conclusion; his physique and face only spoke great volumes of how much of a man he truly was. No, it was his actions that made her adore him; when they were alone anyways. His eyes brightened whenever she was near and his smile was not too far behind. It was almost as if just being in the same room with him made Kaito the happiest. It was almost like he was a completely different person when he was with her. She doubted any of his brothers would believe her if she claimed that the once cold and serious Kaito blushed at a simple kiss on the cheek, let her do as she pleased with his limbs to the point he was a doll for her, and that he could get drunk from the happiness he felt when he held her. It especially wouldn’t be believable since he was very close to mauling and chopping up a guy that was flirting with her. Or perhaps that would make it more believable.

Hoshi’s cheeks flushed as she felt Kaito’s searching fingers, but remained eye contact with him. Just as she could move him to become red with words and a simple touch, Kaito had the same affect on her. The only difference was that Hoshi took the opportunity more than him. Her eyes brightened as she heard the soft notes play through the air, closing her eyes and enjoying the sound. She felt as if she had heard this song before. She opened her eyes once more and looked at the box, taking in every detail her curious eyes could get. She had a thirst for knowledge and understanding, but more so for the man she was infatuated with. “How funny that you were so sickly before and now you are healthy and strong, unless you wage battle against a cashew,” she said wisely at first before teasing him. She leaned up and gently kissed his jaw before continuing, “and now you have to deal with me who is weak. Are you okay with that?” Though she meant it jokingly, she was partly serious. She felt so weak and fragile sometimes that she truly hated it and wondered if Kaito ever got sick of tending to her.

She looked at the necklace, taking in every detail she could without touching it. “And what is the significance of the necklace? You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to,” she said softly, snuggling closer to him. She was curious, of course, of why it hummed and became brighter when his hand came close. It was obvious it held great power or at least was connected to him in an unearthly way.

Why can't we all
Just be friends?
I don't hate you
So why do you hate me?

This world is so loud
So dark...
So painful...
Why can't I just make it all go away?

Mandrin chuckled and strode on, a spring in his step. They were coming on toward the tents and bright tarps, a sight to see. Too soon were their people scattered through the crowds with their painted faces and outragous getups. They smiled so brightly, lips touching ear to ear. But while the children around them giggled, they lacked to notice that these smiles didn't reach their eyes. Oh, how Mandrin knew that feeling. Being a jester for your friends, to make them better... All the while hurting inside. Was that done and overwith now? He hoped so. Though, he smiled at times he'd rather not. Like when he felt terrible for hurting Amaya while molting. But now, he smiled with the sun on his back. He felt warm all over. Even warmer where Amaya touched his hand. People on stilts twirled around, seeming to touch the sky. For once more, he felt like he fit in. He was a bird freak on the inside and he knew it, but here.... Would he fit in? He thought he could.... But was too afraid to try. Anyways, he tagged with Amaya, following her to the acrobats. Along the way, she asked if he would tell her if she did anything he didn't appreciate. Well, what could that be? He liked her enough that he let her into his purple cove, that he shared any secrets about his past, and even a few things he knew about his family. She couldn't do anything to him that he wouldn't be fine with. He allowed her to come closer, to hug his arm. He didn't mind that at all. When they got closer to the acrobats, Mandrin found himself feeling at home. That moved through the air with such ease... As if they had wings. They had apperently already started the show of their fleats, so Mandrin tucked his head down and pulled Amaya forward, looking for a place to sit in the front, in the best view of the preformers. There really weren't any places available for two people, so he took a place with enough room to fit one. He sat, then pulled her onto his lap. From there, they could see everything. But Mandrin felt... weird. Something wasn't right. He didn't know what it was, but his eyes trained on the acrobats. One of them was almost familiar. The one that had the best airtime. He had a dull colour of hair, but that was about all Mandrin could tell about him.

Samual smiled in inticipation while taking a nice breath of the racked nerves of the visitors in line for one of the roller coaster. Petty human fears. They did not know what true terror was like.... The icey grip it had, or the fight or flight instinct it gave you. That was fear. This was just a little thing. But still, his pupils dilated to the energy. It wasn't noticable on the outside of his contacts, but if someone with better eyesight looked him directly in the eye, they could see the dark line of his pupil, which dominated any and all other colour in his iris. He sighed contently with it. He glanced down at his hand, which was lightly held in Nariko's. He didn't know what it ment, really. Maybe she had only grabbed his hand out of instinct to lead him to the ride, but didn't want to take it back to make him feel awkwardly rejected. Should he take it back? He didn't really want to let it go... Infact, he wanted to hold her tighter. But she intimidated him. A lot, to be honest. He was afraid of being hurt, not physically, but other ways.... And well... She had the power to do this to him. The encounters with Scott taught him so. When she spoke up, he looked over at her, taking her hand a little tighter than he had before. He was still scared. Did she feel it? Probably not. His feeling of laze around him didn't give very much of his angst up. "Yeah, I know. I hate having to wear the frickin things. Lucky Mandrin gets to go without them..." Then he blushed slightly, only a few shades darker than his usual pale. She liked his eyes? He smiled at her with a shy turn in the lips. His hand found a bit more strength, but he was nervous. "Um... Thanks... I'm probably going to take them off soon after the sun starts going down... Since it'll be darker..." Okay, he felt stupid for saying the last part. Of course it got darker without the sun. He looked down. It was a moment of silence between hem, and then he heard something. A small singer far off. Nobody else seemed to hear a thing. He glanced over his shoulder, in the direction of the song. There was nothing there. Just... some trees. His eyebrows pulled together. That was weird. He thought nothing off it, until he heard it again. This time, it wasn't singing. It was a shrill shriek. He winced. Again, everyone around him was smiling and carrying on their days. "Hey, Nariko..." He looked at her. His voice dropped some, like he wasn't trying to let anybody else hear but her. "Do you hear that?"

Raban was more than pleased with her first words, agreeing with some to all of them. e had to admit, this was a wonderful change. "Same for my brothers. We haven't been in public eye for so long that they've all grown sheltered and afraid of such open places. It's nice to see that the girls can take them out and make them happy. Just like the way I'm happy here with you," he informed her. For as much as she was putting up an effort to be more out there for him, he was doing the same to speak his mind. Something he failed with so much before her. But no, she would be different. She was his voice, even if they were yet to make that bond clear. He hoped they would some day. But for the moment, with his hand at least holding her's, he was content. His urges were able to be kept at bay with simple medication, which he avoided telling Tenshi about.

He couldn't help but chuckle at the rose colour that bloomed over her cheeks when she realized the eyes on her. She really was cute, not only in personality, but in the way she acted. He felt like she doubted herself so often, like she wasn't so sure that she was as beautiful as she really was. He loved her anyways. Loved... What an odd term. He was so afraid of it, but felt it's effects completely. He faultered in his steps for a moment, letting her repostion herself. He ratherliked where she put his hand, but out of risk of sounding like a pervert, he didn't say anything directly. He wanted to choose his words carefully, in hopes that she would dress like that more often. He had to admit, he really liked it. He himself wore just casual clothes, jeans, sneakers and a tee. Did that matter much? Not really. He had his hand on Tenshi and he was happy. He squeezed her ever so gently. "Perfect." He met her caramel eyes, with the blush around them. "Really the only thing that could make this better is if it was after sunset... Places like these are beautiful with the string lights around." That and he want to take her on the ferris whell. Yeah, it was sappy in the back of his mind, but he wanted to take her to it and kiss her at the top. He had been thinking about that lightly since he heard they were going to a carnival.

Kaito was rather pleased with himself when he caught the blush on Hoshi's face, since he found it difficult at times to put himself to that. No, he knew he could, he just wasn't always sure how. Still, he was glad she didn't outright laugh at him. That such a terrible monster, a man who slays great numbers of men, breaks down trees, rips apart creatures with deft.... Kept a musicbox with a necklace inside as a secret. How punny. She seemed almost... Intrested in it, though. He had watched her curious eyes with his own. She was so pretty when she was relaxed. Not that she was usually tense, but she was... Well, it's hard to describe. She wasn't as open around everyone like she was around him. He liked that. It made him feel like he was special, in a sence that wasn't his physical attire.

When the music stopped, a few notes still played in the corners of his mind. That was why he adored this music box. On any other day, a metalic instrument such as that should have hurt his ears. This one was different, somehow. He didn't know how or why, but he always figured it had something to do with his uncle. He was always doing werd things like that. From time to time, he would drop in and check on the family, push Kaito a bit further out of his abilities, in terms of strength. And then... Just leave. Kaito had been very attatched to this one member of his family, who always knew just what he was thinking. It was terrible when he died. But that was how Kaito had come into possession of the stone. That man had carried it, and when he passed, it turned null. It glowed again for the white feathered boy. It chose him, a gangly little thing, of all people. It was then he decided to become something more. He wouldn't let his uncle go down in vain.

He had to find humor in the small joke she made, with him against a simple nut. He had one of those hearty laughs that, no matter how quiet it was, came from the very bottom of his heart. It was as kind as can be. He blushed once again when kissed, inwardly cursing himself for being so easily turned pink. But then again, if he didn't blush, how would he be able to show Hoshi he was sincere? "I don't mind the cashews... As long as I get to have you as a nurse." He replied nonchalantly. He blushed only slightly darker, having not ment to say that. "I'm okay with your strength, since it makes it easier to protect you..." It made him feel almost selfish inside, for wanting her to be weak. But it was true, he just didn't want her to realize some day that she doesn't need him. That would be... Painful, to say the least.

He liked the questions asked about the smaller object, or just the way she asked it. Hoshi was one for learning, he knew that much. That was a nice thing to her. The hand that had been holding her's let go, then drew back, wrapping around her waist instead. He squeezed her against him for a small moment, grinning. "I'm not even supposed to let you know I have it, let alone tell you what it does." He chuckled. "But I'm going to anyways." He twirled it between his fingers, watching the stones inside with content. "Sirens have one elder. She is officially the first, and has ultimate control over the children she had made. We are three billion years of evolution, though. From time to time again, we need her to take power. Say a species wages war on sirens. She rises to take us through victory." He paused, pinching the neck of the key. "She is in a deep hibernation at all times, to prevent death. To wake her, all four stones are needed. There are only four. Wihout them all, she sleeps..." That brought up a few thoughts for him. Like how it's been nearly a year since his family was broken apart. There could have been a war since then. Something terrible could have happened. Could. He looked down, not knowing if his siren family was alright.

Just once in my life
I think it'd be nice
To just loose myself
Loose the monster inside me
And be free

I was once asked why I care about my brothers
More then I do myself
The answer is simple, you see
When I'm gone, they must not depend on me
They need to heal their own wounds
Fight their own wars
And speak their own words

Amaya looked upon the people that put themselves in the middle to be entertainers; to be laughed at. She sensed that some were sat at this, as if it caused them pain. It was because of these few that her own smile did not reach her eyes. She held Mandrin’s arm tighter and gently pressed her head against his arm. She hoped Mandrin didn’t hurt anymore. He seemed like he was happier now, though sometimes weirded out how things looked through his eyes. She hoped things are still beautiful through his eyes instead of ugly. At entering the tent, she became giddy to see people being so high up and not be afraid. She admired these performers with courage greater than her own and enjoyed watching them do great feat that made them look weightless.

The little girl wondered if she and Mandrin would be able to find seats since it was quite crowded, but Mandrin solved that problem for her. Her cheeks stained a light pink, more than comfortable being with Mandrin like this but it was different being out in public and doing this than being at home. Internally shrugging it off, Amaya was in a state of awe as she witnessed the people glide through the air with ease. When the acrobats took a small amount of time to get ready for the next act, Amaya turned her head slightly and kissed Mandrin on the cheek. “You are my happiness, Mandrin,” she said softly before facing forward with a red face. Mandrin made her happy, he made her really happy. And she was ever thankful that he loved her like she loved him. Her little hand took one of his and laced their fingers together, feeling her heart beat hard and fast against her chest like it did when Mandrin first kissed her. She was young and innocent; matters such as if he was a good lover or if he got jealous weren’t things that interested her in a relationship. What mattered to her if the person she was with made her happy, and she hoped she made that person happy as well.

The fiery twin smiled and held on tighter to Samual’s hand when his grip became more firm. Though she had no reason to feel so, she sensed that he was scared. But what reason did he have to feel that way? “Maybe next time we go out, you don’t have to wear them. Not that you don’t look good with blue eyes, I guess I’m…more fond of purple now,” she admitted, looking off to the side with a blush. Though she smiled at his words, looking over at him and lightly bumping her hip with his. “It gets darker as time goes on? Thanks for enlightening me,” she lightly teased, but she meant well. She gently squeezed his hand, hoping he wasn’t offended.

She was horrible at flirting and teasing; she was blunt and straight forward. She couldn’t read people well or how to give subtle hints of how she felt. Though she thought her kiss when she was with Samual in his room was enough proof of her feelings, Samual seemed hesitant to move forward. Was he still holding on to the thought of his girlfriend in Russia? Though the thought hurt, it was a possibility. That was the only thing she could think of. She could not rush him, only hope he’d choose her.

The young woman snapped her head up as she felt she heard something. She was tempted to let her dog ears out to listen better but her sensitive hearing, already dulled, was beginning to hurt from the sounds of the carnival and people. But she flinched when she heard the shriek, letting out a small whine. At Sam’s question, she nodded, her free hand rubbing her slightly ringing ear. “Do you want to check it out?”

The pink color only became deeper at Raban’s words but a smile joined her shy blush. A light laugh followed; the sound calm and warming. When was the last time she laughed? When was the last time she felt so relaxed and at peace with another? Raban seemed to pull out the true Tenshi, one much younger than she felt and much more alive and willing to venture into life. “That sounds lovely. Let’s hope the kids don’t find us too soon so we can enjoy the evening,” she said lightly, resting her head on Raban’s shoulder. “So tell me, love, what did you do when you came to these kinds of places? Did you seek a thrill on the rides or outsmart the games in the booths? Or were you to busy sleeping the day away until the night?” she lightly teased.

But Tenshi knew that Raban was nocturnal, which confused her sometimes. Why was he awake now in broad daylight and all those other times? Didn’t it bother him to sleep at night with her? Well, he didn’t seem to mind too much. That was really the only time they got alone and she let him hold her tightly. She got so flustered with affections, which she was sure Raban had caught on.

Amber eyes looked upon her companion, gathering some of her courage since she felt that no one was watching her. Her free hand gently took his chin and lifted herself to gently kiss his lips. “Thank you for loving me, Raban,” she murmured against his lips before pulling away and blushing deeply.

Hoshi felt her heart melt when Kaito laughed, her smile becoming softer. She loved his laugh. As odd as it sounded, she felt as if his laugh reach her center and made her internally trembled. As if his size alone wasn’t enough to tell that he held power, even something as light as his laughter showed he was strong. But it made her happy to see that this strong man became a shy boy whenever she kissed him. She adored this man.

But the tables had turned when he said he was fine as long as she was his nurse. Her cheeks burned and hid her face within his neck, squeezing his hand to reassure him that his comment did not offend her or that she didn’t like it. She pulled her head back when he let go of her hand, frowning slightly until she felt his arm around her small waist and holding her against him for a bit. Her cheeks burned once more, but rested against his shoulder and listened intently. It was amazing, the history behind his blood and the necklace his hand. She thought briefly if she or any of her sisters would come to aid the man that brought them into this world.

All of them would let the man suffer. They’d even get chairs and cheer for the people causing him harm if they could.

She remained silent for a bit, looking at the item that Kaito held and letting her mind organize this new information. First things first, she’d have to reassure Kaito. She sensed something amiss when he said he was fine with her strength, as if she would become stronger and no longer be with him. Her hand reached up and gently led his to look at her, patient grey eyes peering into his breathtaking blue. “You are my strength, Kaito. Even if I were to become physically stronger, I will always want and need you with me, if you still want me. You give me courage and comfort, a sense of peace.” Her fingers gently stroked his jaw and cheek, trying to give him a reassuring smile. “Besides, I don’t think I’ll ever be stronger than you,” she said lightly, gently kissing him before moving on.

“I can tell you are worried for your family. If you want, Tenshi and I can find out if something has happened. Tenshi has great connections on getting almost any type of information on any supernatural species and I’m good with the follow up investigation or making sure the information is true,” she smiled, hoping to reassure him. For now, she wanted to get his mind off the worries of his clan and any bad feelings David may have instilled within him. She wanted her snow harpy to enjoy the day with her and relax. “So when do you want to go out? I feel bad keeping you cooped up in this house for so long.”

It was just for a moment. It was only a few seconds. The girls were by the Sarnais the entire time during their day at the carnival. It was after sunset and the lights were turning on, giving the grounds a different kind of glow. But all the couples were in different parts of the grounds, enjoying the others company. But it was at this point that the girls saw or heard something. The thing they heard or saw was difficult to describe, but was more difficult was the urge to discover it. It was as if something was pulling them to this particular object.

They broke away from their respective brother, merging into the crowd and losing them. What they didn’t realize was that this urge was unnatural. And they would realize that too late. They walked into a dark part of the grounds, too far from the main crowd to be seen or heard. Unheard screams left them and were quickly gagged and bound, thrown into an unmarked van.

It was only a few minutes after the girls went missing did the brothers get approached by four unwanted males. Holding solemn faces, Tyler, Scott, David, and Nicholas approached the brothers very warily. They quickly told the brothers that something had happened to the sisters, but they don’t know where and what is going on. However, they have had contact with the person who took the girls.

David then spoke up by saying that they needed to go back to the house so that he can connect the transmitter to a computer or a television. Tyler then hurriedly added that the man that contacted them seemed like a very impatient person. Though, Scott made matters worse by adding that the guy looked rather violent from the shape of his arms and how he, without hesitation, bashed one of his own men’s head against the door of a van he later got into.

The four boys felt the way back to the Tama household was too long and perhaps the last walk they would ever have. It took over 40 minutes to get there, the fault being the human boys that needed to constantly stop and rest.

When they finally got to the house, David quickly got to work on connecting the transmitter to the nearest TV; feeling his life in danger by the tallest brother, who was also the strongest. He was almost sure he was glaring at him and itching to grab something sharp and hack him. Kaito was like that when he was trying to gain Hoshi’s attentions, how in the world would he be now since Hoshi was missing and possibly hurt? The rest of the boys felt the same way of the sense of danger, especially since they all left on a bad note with the brothers and girls.

Nicholas tried to be as composed as possible, while letting the rest of the boys hide behind him. He wasn’t too thrilled on being a meat shield, and so near the manifester.

David kept fumbling, his hands shaking with fear and worry. He was terrified what the brothers may do to them but he was also worried for the girls. They never meant any harm to them, just wanted to protect them and have them help the boys back home. After finally connecting it, he once more began to fumble in trying to get the right reception. It was all static and painful to the ears, occasionally showing a tree line or a corridor or how many men lined the area.

▹►The Sarnai Brothers◄◃

Why can't we all
Just be friends?
I don't hate you
So why do you hate me?

This world is so loud
So dark...
So painful...
Why can't I just make it all go away?

Really, the day had been nice for most everyone. It was bright and sunny in the morning, something Mandrin loved. Samual and Raban thought it was nice to feel the sun after being cooped up for so long, as well. Seeing the faces of public was odd, but still enjoyable. Raban found it easiest to mend with the masses than his brothers. Though, they got to it as well. Kaito and Hoshi came in a bit lat later in the day, and didn't do all to much. He was fine just being around her. Actuslly, he seemed to cling to her. He, a large and strong looking man, was intimidated by all the people. He was found suffocated time to time. He was sure Hoshi noticed the fear traces in his movements, but she was great for calming his nerves and was patient with him. He was a reclose that only saw this many people when he had to fight for his life. He told her that in a hushed comment at one time or other. Samual had some intresting fun as well. The voice in the far-off trees turned out to be none other than another siren, who was more than excited to see him. She stole his contacts right out of his eyes to be sure it was him. She exclaimed loudly that the Sarnai's lived, that they were fine. Bashed and dizzy, but alive. She gushed over him, as well. Until it became awkward. She was hostile to Nariko, not liking the scent of Samual on her. That was something she felt belonged to her and her only. At one point in time, she took it too far. She used the siren in her blood to sing Samual into a fogged trance, making his mind blank and easy to bend. She was going to take him and run, until the dog demon began to sing her song. It single handedly stole Samual's mind and mystified his heart. The lavender eyes shaded a slight pink, as did his cheeks. It was almost innocent looking. He went to Nariko, ignoring the siren. She could see what was happening and left, grumbling about 'voices' under her breath. She fled the area, running as fast as her legs could carry her. She wasn't seen again. Mandrin was Mandrin, gushing over how cute Amaya was at any moment possible. Here and there, when playful, he'd twirl her around and catch her in his arms, kissing her cheeks. They were the two lovestruck puppies in the carnival, catching the eyes of many. Too many. Mandrin was distracted by a guy talking to him when Amaya wandered off. Raban was unlike himself that day. His eyes were on Tenshi and her only. When a female with plentiful breasts bounced by him, trying her hardest to get his attention, he wouldn't even spare her a parting glance. He was touching, holding, or wrapped around Tenshi the whole time. They had a lot of fun and he found himself humming when neither were talking. His world was glowing with radient happiness he had neverbefore felt. It was beautiful. All of it. Tenshi was.

By some time or other, they all split up. The girls went off somewhere to which the brothers did not know. They knew the instant they were gone, though. Kaito was the first go into turmoil, being left without his calming charm. He darted around crowds quickly, searching for his girl. He began to call her name, only to no answer. She would answer him. She wouldn't leave him alone. He was scared. As for the rest of the brothers, they began to search franticly as well. After time passed, which had only been a short segmant of time, though it felt like eternity of hell, they bumped into each other. Talking quickly in their home language, they quickly found that their respective girls were missing in action. Their blood turned cold, even the winter tundra harpy. With hair on end, two out of the four were on the brink of shifting in public, though they did not. Not yet, at least.

It was when the other men came up, did the harpies of the grounf drop their calm. They grabbed the males and hurrily dragged them into the private trees. Here, they all got to see what the new Mandrin looked like, and the furious older snow harpy could do. The golden feathered man hissed at Tyler, wings spread. He wasn't cooped in a house now. He had the forest a his back. His black, razor claws dug into the ground. He was terrifying, and not even mad yet. He just had enough of this boy and was ready to tear him up. Kaito was no better. His frigid blue eyes were as sharp as his claws. If only looks could kill. If they could, David would have been dead ten times over. Telling the Sarnai's that something had happened to the girls changed their stances. The normally warm gold eyes became a vibrant orange. The blue eyes of a large man became a bloody orange, far more frightening than they were before. If David were to make too quick a movement, his arms would be torn off. Then his legs, and so on. Good thing he didn't move oo fast. Raban was cold as he could be, but was still trying to communicate. Samual? He was nowhere to be found. He could be heard, though. He was growling on and off, and the presence of his stare was clean. He was glaring daggers at Scott. He was more than likely in a tree, trying not to maul him. It was actually pretty hard to resist the pleasure he'd get from it.

The walk home was terrible. Worse for the human boys. Mandrin could stand just walking, so he took to the sky. He circled the land bound males like a vulture, his winged shadow spinning around one certain male. Poor Tyler was not getting out of this easy. But neither were the other three. When Scott got to close to the trees, a savage growling would come out blindly. There wasn't even a real pinpoint to where it came from. Just Samual saying he didn't like being close to the man. Raban actually explained that, as he did the other behaviors of the boys. "You see, when a siren's mate is in danger, he or she brutally murders the one to blame. It's a lot worse than the way a harpy does it. Fun to watch, really. They play on your greatest fears while screaming you deaf, then shred you slowly to bits under the water. If there is not water, they start fires and burn you, while shredding you in a certain way that allows you to live the longest. They make sure that you die in the end, though." Samual accompanied that with another grusome hiss. Like an agreement. "Oh, and Scott? He's a Fear Eater. Right now, he can tell that you're terrified, weither you deny it or not. Actually, he may be getting high of it." A sick little cackle came from the trees. "That means yes." Raban was enjoying this, actually. He went on with his unearthly words, pushing the border further and further. To why Mandrin wasn't walking, but circling. "Mandrin? He's pissed. As a dune harpy, he naturally needs to kill to live. Even if he is normally kind. They circle their desired prey like a vulture. He is a bird of prey, after all. But when their mates are to be harmed, and this goes for all harpies," he paused, glancing at a furious Kaito, "they violently shred the antagonist. Grabbing them in their talons, taking to the sky, then dive downwards, crushing the victim against whatever. Usually against rocks. Or fire. Oh, they love lighting fires and burning people.... Or they just eat them alive. Kaito, would you eat someone alive? No, you wouldn't... You're a vegetarian." He looked at Kaito, who was glaring directly at David. "I can make exceptions," he stated in a murderous tone. The sick part was that he wasn't joking. Not one bit. Mandrin swooped sharply down, towards Tyler, but caught up into the sky again. At one of the rest stops, Kaito went on a rant. It was useless to the other males, but his brothers understood him. He was cursing and cussing, and from time to time, the brothers would glance at David during the conversation. It ended with Raban having to tell him, in Englishfor the others to understand, "Now, now, snowflake... Ripping out his intestines and strangling him with them won't do you any good. And... Watch your language, eh? Mom didn't raise you to use such a vocabulary." Kaito growled at him and took off, ahead on the trail.

They all came to the house alive. Which was a surprising, since Raban liked echoing what his brothers were saying in English, to torment the others.

While the video was being set up, all of the brother were unsettling. Mandrin was still pacing, hard orange eyes on Tyler, and everyone who moved too quickly. Even his own brothers. Samual was now in sight, but he was a lot different. His skin had a grey touch to it and his eyes, a blazing red. Like freshly cut blood. His lip curled at Scott, flashing him sharpened teeth. He attempted to sit down and be civil, but he was unable. Instead, he watched David fumble around with Kaito. Kaito was not near the man, but his presence of suffocating. It was obvious to the human boy that the harpy was not breaking his glare on him. He was, in a sense, screwed. Why? because Kaito wasn't ever going to let him get out of this. He was waiting for him to realize that he wasn't leaving the house in one piece. Or alive. Raban was eerily calm, though his grey orange eyes said other things. He kept tabs on his brother, making sure none of them ripped up anyone. At one time, Samual did take the plunge at Scott, but Raban manifested an anvil over his head. It was a small one, but enough to force him to the ground. "Not yet, Ches. If you attack him now, you'll get blood on the floor. Take it outside." He told him. "It's a real ******** to get out of carpets," Kaito added, meaning that he knew. It was directed at David as well. When the video began to play, Mandrin snapped vocally. His hands went over his ears quickly and Russian spewed from his mouth. All brothers looked at him with shock as he screamed angrily. "What!?" He responded, eyes turning to a red tint. Samual spoke with monotone back to him. "Never in my life have I heard you use such a vocabulary. You make Kaito sound clean." Mandrin responded with f'ipping him the bird and a clear "******** you." Yes, he was upset a little.

They didn't understant the video at all, watching the weird clips and fuzz. It was random and meaningless! Kaito turned on David, grabbing him by the collar of his shirt and raising him into the air like he was nothing more than a jumble of grapes. "Explain this!" he demanded, fist drawn to strike. Raban didn't stop him like he should have.

Just once in my life
I think it'd be nice
To just loose myself
Loose the monster inside me
And be free

I was once asked why I care about my brothers
More then I do myself
The answer is simple, you see
When I'm gone, they must not depend on me
They need to heal their own wounds
Fight their own wars
And speak their own words

If David wasn’t so terrified, he might have screamed in fear. But that also applied to the rest of the men. They were beyond terrified and were complete aware of how dangerous these men could be. But what terrified Nicholas the most was how calm Raban was behaving; this could only mean that Raban was planning something much worse for them than his brothers were planning. With this in mind, Nicholas was on the verge of pissing himself, and would soon be joined by the rest of the humans if Samual tried to lunge again, Kaito really landed the punch, and Mandrin had another outburst that was not like him.

After a few moments, the TV screen came to life with a clear picture. A man with dark hair and soulless eyes appeared, a fake grin of greeting on his lips. “Hello Sarnai brothers; pleasure to meet you. I am Ryuu. Forgive me for not bringing a camera so I could see you; I’m a bit under budget since I lost my prized dancer,” he said, a supposed apologetic look on his features but his lips twitched as if trying to hold back a smile. “I want to make you boys a deal. These girls may be sugar coating but you know the truth: that you four are slaves. These girls don’t love you; they say they love you so you will stay to protect them. But what will happen when they are safe? They’ll sell you back to the market. You have seen how cold Tenshi can be; she won’t hesitate to throw trash away.

“But I can guarantee that that won’t happen. I can give you boys your freedom and even give you your family back. Think about it: being back in Russia in your large house with your mother and father back, living the life you used to live before being captured as slaves. All I need is the three vials in a trunk Tenshi has hidden in her study. One that is clear with silver, a dark red, and another red one but has more silver in it. Once you bring those to me, your beloved parents will be back. I can even bring your girlfriend back, Samual. And you boys will never even hear about the Tamas ever again,”
Ryuu finished with a smile.

A muffled scream broke the silence of the room Ryuu was in, causing the man to frown. “The four gentlemen with you have the map to where I am; a little ways into the forest.” Ryuu turned to leave the room, making David take the cue to cut the connection. But instead of the call canceling, the idiot had connected to another fee; another camera in Ryuu’s hideout.

We see a blank room, the tile floors promising that it would be cold. In a corner, a huddled up, was a little girl. She whimpered out in fear as she lay on her side, trembling. She was blindfolded, though her tears still managed to escape the cloth. Her ankles were bound and so were her wrists in heavy rope. Her little hands were held up in front of her chest; her lips occasionally letting out a sob. Bruises were on her exposed skin, shaped like hand marks. The door flung open, slamming against the wall with a bang. The bundle flinches and curled up tighter, but her trembling only increased.

Three men entered, chuckling darkly. One approached the small girl, his heavy footsteps echoing against the tile. The girl stiffened and scrambled, trying to scoot away from the offending man even in her bound state. Sadly, the man easily was upon her. His hand quickly grabbed her thick hair and yanked up, causing the poor creature to cry out in pain and kneel. “I like this one; maybe I’ll keep her for myself,” he said with a wicked grin, tugging on the girl’s hair to make her cry out for his own sick pleasure.

“Man…Mandrin…” the tiny being finally chocked out, revealing herself to be Amaya. The man frowned, tossing Amaya against the wall with enough force to temporarily knock her out. The man then pulled out a cruel knife from his pocket and twirled it between his fingers. “I think I’ll carve a pretty picture on your flawless skin before I hand you over to Ryuu. He did say to punish all of you for running away,” he chuckled, drawing closer to the defenseless and weak Amaya.

Tyler lunged forward and pulled the control out of David’s hands in hopes to change the camera. It did; revealing another room though the scene was much different. In the center of the room was a floating orb of water. There were frozen sections on the orb, and a body inside it. Suddenly, the water fell, along with the body, with a loud splash. The body was that of a woman and her thick black hair surrounded and hid her features. Her arms and legs that were exposed were heavily bruised and were a sickly blue. Her breaths came out in short and rapid pants; her breath forming a small cloud from how cold she was.

A few men marched into the room, three of them going forward and picking up the half conscious woman, only to throw her into a chair. They tied her wrists to the arms of the chair and each ankle to each front leg of the chair. One of the pulled her head back by her hair, confirming that the blue eyed beauty was indeed Nariko. Her lips were an unhealthy blue and her body was trembling horribly in hopes to create heat.

“Which one do you think this one is?” the leader of the group called out, grabbing Nariko’s chin to turn her head side to side. But Nariko being Nariko, spat in the man’s face. “Go…f#ck…your…self…” she managed between chattering teeth. While the rest of the group laughed, the man scowled before backhanding her. “So you’re Nariko. Looks like we need to break you first,” he growled, a smirk forming on his lips. His hand slipped down and rested on her knee, slowly inching up her thigh. Nariko’s eyes widened with shock and fear, thrashing as much as she could restrained. “Don’t worry; I won’t be the only one having fun,” he chuckled, the dark sound joined by the other men in the room. Nariko screamed in protest, thrashing more in hopes to remove the hands that wandered closer and closer to her torso and thighs. Tears streamed down her face as she screamed for the men to stop.

“Why are you screaming? You think that freak of yours is gonna come to save you? As if. Ryuu already promised to bring his girlfriend back. But humor us; why do you want him to come here so badly?” he jeered, removing his hand for a moment. “I…love…him…” she said softly, shutting her eyes tightly. The men in the room laughed hard; not believing that such a spirited woman would cry for a man. “Well then…I’ll let you cry out his name instead of mine.” The men then surrounded the chair but the screen had once more changed.

It was Scott who changed the scene, not wanting to believe that this was what happened to his friend.

Another room. Another girl. This girl had black hair as well which could only mean that this was the eldest younger sister. Her ankles were bound just like her wrists that were tied behind her back. Her grey orbs gave the three men a cold glare; baring her fangs at them as her eyes lightly glowed. A few bruises were on her skin, but what truly caught one’s eye was how raw and red her neck looked. A man lunged at the woman, reaching for her shoulders to pin her down. Instead, he was met with large dark blue wings that knocked him across the room. But the other two men had expected this. They rushed forward and grabbed a hold of her wings and pulled them back, using the whip one of them held to tie her wings. Hoshi fought back as best as she could but the odds were against her when the third man joined them. She was then thrown to the ground, one of the men stepping on her shoulder. He dug his heel into her right shoulder but she did not cry out; only shutting her eyes tightly and clenching her teeth tightly.

The next few movements came quickly. A foot lifting and slamming down. The sound of bone and muscle breaking and tearing. A cry of pure pain mixed with a roar. A broken and dislocated shoulder. Hoshi’s hair was then grabbed and she was cruelly thrown against a wall. Another cry of pain and tears threatened to fall. “He’ll come for me…Kaito…will come…and save me,” she said between gritted teeth. The men only glared; one muttering ‘we’ll see about that’ before he pulled out a whip. “Until he gets here, we’ll keep you company. I think we agreed for some physical punishment before you alleviate us,” another said with a grin, his eyes hungrily roaming over Hoshi’s body. His hand lifted with the opposing weapon and was coming down before the scene changed.

David took the control again, fear and panic filling him. He was sure Kaito was going to kill him, even though Kaito didn’t know it was partially his fault Hoshi was where she was now.

This last scene was from the same room Ryuu was in earlier. Only this time, the door that was behind Ryuu was open and revealed the dark walls and dim lighting in the room. But that was not the focal point. All attention was drawn to the source of the muffled scream from earlier, to the center of where a group of men gathered.

Silver hair that once shone brightly and held a silky texture was now a deep crimson and mattered. The once smooth and flawless skin had become different shades of blue, purple, and red; with cuts and gashes that still seeped with blood. The sounds that escaped her parted lips were nothing but shallow breaths, whimpers, and soft cries of pain.

Her clothes were in tatters; possibly even worse than when they were first attacked. Her top barely hung on her left shoulder and the skirt she wore was torn all over. Rips ran up to her hip and left nearly nothing for the imagination. As if her battered state wasn’t enough, how Ryuu had decided to keep her still was horrible.

Strong steel chains connected from the ceiling and floor to the thick and cold shackles on her. Her wrists were held high above her head, her hands looking pale from the blood loss or how tightly the shackles were. Blood coated the edges of the shackles; showing how the woman had struggled against them and even her wrists were raw. But the most disturbing shackles were the ones on her legs. They wrapped around her upper thighs, her skin there raw as well. These binds forced her legs to be apart, attempting to close them would cause her skin to tear.

“You are so thoughtful, Ryuu; holding Tenshi up like this,” he voice chuckled, stepping into screen. He grabbed the back of her head, pulling her hair back to face him. “You even got her in perfect position to pleasure me. Can I have her now?” he grinned. ”Now, now Isao; patience is a virtue. My darling daughter must be punished first. While I know bedding her would be enough punishment for you, I need to remind her what happens when she runs away,” Ryuu said with a twist of his lips. He brought out a cruel dagger, one that had an aura of only agony. From the way Tenshi thrashed and cried, it could only mean it was the dagger that unmercifully tore her wings out. The harsh metal dug into her back, going over the original scars and making them bleed once more. “Odd; it almost looks like your scars were healing. But Tenshi, how could someone so broken like you find any healing? No one could ever love you, only lust for you.”

He pulled the dagger away, leaving Tenshi trembling, sobbing, and incredibly lightheaded. She had already lost so much blood that any normal person would have died. “You truly are quite cruel, Ryuu; seeing how far you can push her before death,” Isao commented, lifting Tenshi’s chin to look at her. He looked as if he was tempted to kiss Tenshi, but only to make her feel lower than she already did. “She won’t be here for long; I don’t want to deal with his b***h anymore than I have to.”

Isao let out a tragic sigh. “But I wanted to come take Tenshi whenever I wanted. I suppose I might have to just deal with having her first,” he said forlornly. He grabbed Tenshi’s chin and forced his lips upon hers, but quickly pulled back as blood coated his lips. Tenshi had bit him. In return, Isao slapped Tenshi soundly on the cheek, leaving scratch marks that lightly bled.

“Now, now, you’ll play with her later. We need to let her breathe for a bit before I finish her punishment. But if the boys take too long, I suppose you can have her a few times,” Ryuu said with a grin. Isao shared the same grin and let his fingers run over her cheek, allowing her tears to mix with her blood. “Don’t forget to thank the four boys that led us to the girls, the humans. We’ll need to repay them after we finish the deal with the Sarnais,” Isao added as an afterthought. Ryuu chuckled. “Indeed. But this should be payment enough; punishing the women who pushed them away and choosing some feathered slaves.”

Tenshi’s eyes widened; not wanting to believe him. “Nicholas? David? Scott and Tyler? They told you where we were?” she gasped, the pain she was going through made it difficult to speak. Ryuu’s twisted smile became even more sinister as he lowered himself to be at eye-level with Tenshi, getting incredibly close. “Yes they did. Your ‘friends’ told me even how to get to your house and where you four might be today. You were always terribly at trusting the right people, Tenshi. And now, your slaves are coming to hand over your purified blood and tears so that we can bring back their beloved parents and perhaps even one dead girlfriend.”

Fear was evident in Tenshi’s eyes, but she was too weak to fight against the chains. “But the only way to bring back the dead is to— ”

“To sacrifice? I plan to. I think killing your sisters will be the last blow that I shall deliver. Human sacrifices are not enough to bring back the dead anymore and normal demon blood isn’t enough. But I think a few Halflings with some angelic blood and tears will be enough to bring back a pair of parents and a girlfriend, even if they are supernatural. And if not, I’ll just throw you with them. Look on the bright side Tenshi, you might get to be with your sisters after all,” Ryuu laughed, standing up and beginning to leave the room. “Let her heal for about five minutes or so then give her a lashing. She should be weak enough by then for Isao to play with her. Remember, don’t touch her,” Ryuu called over his shoulder.

The men in the room got sinister smirks, all of them looking at their weapons and trying to figure out the best place to hit her. But mainly, the best way to harm her while revealing more of her skin. Isao went and sat in a nearby chair, lounging as he waited for Tenshi’s torture to commence once more. Tenshi only softly wept, her weak body wracking with each sob. “Raban…help…” she weakly whispered. Her body suddenly went limp, her chest seemed to not even more and anyone who had sensitive healing could barely hear her weak heartbeat. “Let’s hope she doesn’t die after Isao is done with her so we can have a go at her,” one of the men jeered, the others laughing and agreeing with him.

It was Nicholas who tore the transmitter off the television. He smashed it down on the floor, his body wracking with fear. This wasn’t good. This was bad. This was really bad. This was horrible and terrible. This wasn’t what they wanted. The guys just wanted the girls away from the Sarnais so that they could talk to them privately. They didn’t want the girls in any harm. But with how things were looking, they weren’t going to be around for long…at least until the brothers got the information on how to get to Ryuu…

▹►The Sarnai Brothers◄◃

Why can't we all
Just be friends?
I don't hate you
So why do you hate me?

This world is so loud
So dark...
So painful...
Why can't I just make it all go away?

Impatience struck all four brothers as the wires were hastily connected, the radiant orange-red eyes of the Sanrais not dropping glare for a moment. If these jokers haven't have even shown up, would they even be in this problem? Highky unlikely, as they all thought. Though, they were soon to lear much, much more. If wasn't bad enough that Raban was feeling himself wear thin as it was, his mood was not getting any better while feeling the pressure from the company around him. He wanted badly to leave the room and calm down, but given the circumsrtances, he wouldn't dare. On the other siren, though, something seemed to be off. He was losing his focus and it was obvious. His eyes, dilated roundly, were moving at leizure and his body teetered slightly. He was, in a sense, high. His brothers picked up on it and Mandrin needed to get his attention before the video started, so he lashed out on his twin by striking his foot. Sure, he smashed a few bones, but a least the fear eater was back to reality.

Just in time, too. The clip started. All four men curled their lip up in disgust at the immediae sight of this new man. Without him even needing to say anything, the brothers were against him. They weren't great judges of characters, but this guy... He struck all the wrong chords. Samual hissed at him like some rabid animal would. After his first statements, and the mentioning of a prized dancer, Raban was all but lost. His fists were balled so tightly that the whites of the bones were prominant and a vain in his neck and collar bone shone, strumming quickly with an increased heartbeat. He was coming closer and closer to his breaking point, and he knew it. All the younger brothers shifted away from him, completely aware of how his wrath could rain. Even Kaito, by far the strongest, steeped a few times to the side, eyeing him cautiously. It was odd, though. Raban was without a single feather. That didn't make him any less dangerous, however.

None of them liked how this man already knew their shared name. All of their blood went cold at the thought of what he said about being sold back to the market. In their current states, their hearts were only loyal to their mates. But did they really have mates? No. Those were just women who they had fallen head over heels for. Was there a reason why none of them were mates? Because they were going to sell them back as son as possible? The dulled minds took that by shock and actually concidered it. It wasn't uncommon for them. Samual was just used for his body, just a simple pain and pleasure slave. He'd be used up, bashed around, and thrown back into a cage. Perhaps Nariko was just toying with him. Getting his useless hopes up so that he'll protect her from whatever may be. It worked well, didn't it? He felt sick. Kaito's eyes were wide with this shock. All he trusted in Hoshi? All the things he'd told her, that he couldn't even tell his own kin? She dug hrself into his frozen heart very well, didn't she? The harpy in his head was going into a complete meltdown, screaming, 'Why did I trust her? She was using me! I should have never let her in... I shouldn't ever do this again...' He could feel his blood, gone cold, flaring up again with a raging wrath. Time to live up to his name. But no. The siren knew hat couldn't be true. He loved her like he could no other. He'd open himself to her in every way, heart, mind, soul, and body. The siren in him knew she was his other half and that she would never use him. For he moment, they fought each other with so many genuine facts. Mandrin was on the verge of breaking down, thinking about the ways he'd been used. All those were for the benefit of others. All the time he was used for his body or for racing. But that was a new level... Innocent Amaya... Using his desire for love against him... No. She wouldn't. He knew that for sure. She was the one who was at his side while he molted. While his skin peeled and bones smashed to bits. Not even his own brothers could bare being with that pain for long. Amaya had been crying there with him. She loved him. She was not using him for protection. All sides of him knew it. Raban, above all his brothers, had the most faith in his silverette woman. His heart skipped a beat when he held her hand in the carnival. He thought of her with the highest of respect. He'd fight her friends for her. He'd play a game of savage brutality against his own brothers, just to stay with her. And, glaring at the screen, at a man who seemed to think that he could sway the raven hair brothers... He could throw out his hidden ace. He was sure that she would never betray him because... He loved her.

He was going to get her. He was going to save her.

When the hell began, Mandrin's jaw dropped. His eyes were wide, the flame orange irises growing dull while he watched the horrible fate that small girl was facing. No... Not a small girl. Any girl could be a small girl. This was a special little female. This was the one who brought him golden light. She was someone who made him want to fly, no matter what binds could hold him. Amaya was the one being hurt, and with her pain, his heart shattered. A small word fell from his lips and his body felt limp. The voiceless word was just a form, no sound at all. He was trying to say 'no', as if that would help anything. The men on the screen wouldn't hear him. It was likely that they didn't even know he was there, that he was hurting because of their actions. Great pain filled his eyes and his body ached. Whenever she was hit, a stabbing ice pain shredded in him, caused by what? Nothing. Nothing was hurting him, but those men.

He watched as they tormented her, shaking his head with fevor. He was sharing her emotions, face lined with the same terror. To add to the feeling, his eyes began to line with something. Tears? No. No, tears weren't supposed to fall from a harpy. Because they couldn't technically cry. The creatures themselves couldn't... But he was. Not only was it begining to well, but a shrill swell was starting in his throat. This wasn't the cry of a harpy. A siren was screaming in him, causing him whatever pain that small girl, his voice, was going through. Soon enough, when she was unconcious and that man had said those terrible words, he was on the floor. Nobody helped him up. His hands were on his head, covering his ears. He was crying out in pain, begging in a different language for releace from the crushing force. He probably looked insane, since nothing would be found wrong with his physical being. Just himself. He didn't even notice Tyler moving when he did, far more concerned that his Amaya, his splash of golden light, was out there, being hurt by evil men. And that there was a force inside this harpy body that was screeching, but made no noice.

Next for pain, Samual. He knew right away that it was Nariko in that case. No hesitation was needed before she fell to the ground, but he questioned why that idiot Tyler hooked up that feed to the current screen. Did he know what he was doing? Samual watched him with numb, silver edged eyes. They were mainly scarlet, but something was crawling up inside of him. He was accepting that he was used. Why would she even care about him? Use his sex desire to lead him on, whisper a song like a siren to his ears, then dissapear. The first two were to build them together in this one sided love. Of course she didn't love him back. Because he was supposed to defend her from the third, the vanishing act.

He did a horrible job at that, now didn't he? That would be why she was now being strapped to that chair by crude men. Were they men? They acted like primitive asses. He paused in his lamen thoughts to listen to the conversation, the lines thrown at each other. He absolutely ignored his brother, his twin, who was crying out in Russian. He listened to them speak of breaking her, watching her body thrash around. It was painful to the eye, and he only blamed himself. He was supposed to stop that from happening, wheither she loved him or not. Even if there wasn't a relationship between them, she was supposed to be safe. But watching this... He knew she was not. His eyes began to harden, a small flame growing inside him as he witnessed his love screaming with tears. No, even if she didn't care for him, he was going to love her. He could do this, if anything! He loved her, and dammit, he was going to fight for her until she loved him back! His fists clenched and his teeth came together in an audible snap. She would love him. He was going to stop this from happening and save the girl who was crying that she loved that freak of a boy. And there was no way he was going to let them have her.

Kaito did not care what was happening around him. He did not care that his youngest brother, whom he often protected valiently, was in severe pain. No, oh no. He was watching the screen with fixiated eyes, darting across every detail he could. Since it was only a silly screen, he could not tell much more than sight, but he could feel the cold, stale air in each of the cells. The way sounds slightly bounced off the walls, the harsh pressure of the place. He might have well been standing right there. But he was not. If he was, he would have done something when he saw the third girl. Her long dark hair, once beautifully combed and neat, just framing her feminine face and stunning eyes, was now messy with the obvious way she had put up some sort of struggle. Her expression, always calm and collected, with the few exceptions of being rile up by teasing, was tormented and vicious. She wasn't the girl he knew, but at the same time, she was the girl he had always known.

He watched with a horror etched face as she was brought to the ground, and a shoe smashing up in her shoulder. A stabbing pain went through his as well, but he only cringed. He was used to pain, and though this was much different than any he'd actually felt before, he wouldn't, couldn't, drag his eyes from the screen. While he watched, his minds were at war. The feather wearing man said that thiswas the girl that was using him, though his words were half-hearted. He was watching her pain with disbeleif, not able to handle watching her like that. The siren crooned to him silenty, bringing up memories of true happiness. When they sat together, when they kissed, or even held hands. How could she use you? He also brought up memories of other women who have tried to start these kinds of things with him, only to be rejected abruptly. You wouldn't have loved her if she could hurt you. He was right. No part in Kaito could deny this. Now, to add to the pain the spread through his entire being, his heart dropped. How did he doubt her unconditional love? She, in this time of need, being smashed around, knew he was going to come for her. She trusted that he was going to be there for her, and what was he doing? Battling himself about weither or not she really wanted him. Drowining in guilt that soon lit into rage, both halves of him were coming to their senses. That girl on the screen was in his arms not hours ago. She got away, but he was going to get her. He was her slave, her guardian, and lover.

Raban found it painful to watch as the girls he had concidered o be his family were ortured in their own, completely unique ways. It was true, he loved them like he did his own brothers. In the short time they've been under the same roof, they've come to grow on him. Listening to them cry out in pain hurt him as well, but not in the way of his brothers. He cringed when the time was right and glared at the men, the boys, who switched the screens. They weren't helping themselves, though. All brothers were becoming more and more aware of them, but not given the correct fuel to crack, yet.

When Tenshi came to center screem, Raban became hollow inside. His eyes widened and his throat felt swollen, making it hard to swallow, but that was fine. His breath was caught in a gasp, anyways. Red swelled in his eyes, taking coverage over the whites. That's never happened to im, but it was surely not a good thing. He watched with dismay as the woman he loved, lusted, and guarded for was so hurt. Her flawless skin was broken in so many places, bleeding, and discoloured. Raban felt so bad that he had let this happen, he might as well have taken a knife and done it all himself. His knees felt a little weak at this point, examining how she was in healoth. She looked so hurt, in an agony known once before... The chains attatching to her sickened him. He knew what it was like to wear them, but not to that extent. Kaito had held ones similar to those before, though. Except the ones around the thighs. Those were the ones that made him want to puke. He really did feel uneasy watching this all take place.

Raban felt his skin on his arms rip to feathers when the spoke of bededing her. They were going to take away the one thing she held close. What sick father woulf just give away their first daughter's virginity to man with money? Just what the hell?! With this nausia, anger rose. He was getting more and more enraged by the way they just spoke so freely, about Tenshi, about what they were going to do to her, about everything... He didn't even know what to think of it all. It messed his mind up more than he ever could on his own.

Until the names were called. As they were, all heads snapped in their direction. That was the final signature on their death sentance. But as the video continued, they kept a steady glare on them. Even Mandrin, caught with swollen, puffy eyes and a tear stained face. His glare held such ddep layers of pain and betrayal. A few words fell from his lips in the silence between the screen's scrip. "They thought you were their friends. What kind of friends are you?" His tone was that of a child, or was it a man? An innocence, for sure, but also hurt of an adult watching traitors. Because that is what those men were. No friends of this family.

The film moved on with the sacrifice talk that they all understood in an odd sense. Though they knew next to nothing about those kinds of things, it was practically clear with what the man with soulless eyes said. After that, eyes went back to the men in the room. Soon the wire was smashed and the screen was blank. The brothers had seen it all in suck details, though. The eyes on the males weren't as expected. No, not at all.

Kaito looked directly into David, seemingly passed his eyes and actually into him. "You, a man who would dare come into this house and touch Hoshi in ways only a lover should, must have cared about her somewhere inside you. Why would you damn some you care for to that? What you just saw?" His words held no poison, no bitter. Just serious calm. He had hurt her, and for that, Kaito asked him that. "I expect an explaination before I kill you, David." There was no violence in his voice, his tone, or in his face. It was just a fact. He was going to kill David.

Samual was the same as the older harpy, only he was closer to the verge of screaming. There was so much pain in his eyes that the red was flashed with silver specks that glistened. The agony inside him wasn't just his, but eeryone's in the room. He could feel the emotions everyone felt, the raw hatred, the sadness, the fear, and the pain. He looked directly at Scott. "Weren't you supposed to be her buddy? That you roughhoused with? Did the times you both spent playing, before and after we came, not occur to you as you carelessly threw her to that? Why do you hate her so much?" The point of that was not to envoke emotion in Scott, but to really asked him this. As Samual was speaking, Mandrin struggled to his feet.

The golden wings of the harpy boy drooped and he shook gently. He was trying to get a hold on himself through this pain. "You're one hell of a friend, Tyler. Get upset with a little girl as innocent as Amaya, or even me, and you send her to that? I hope you're proud of yourself. Or are you too worried about the fact that you aren't going to live to meet tomarrow? You would be." Mandrin spoke harsh words, but was still in the same daze as his brothers.

Raban didn't ask any questions. He stood infront of his brothers, back to them and front to the others. His face was serious and his tone was dissapointed, but calming, like he was trying to prevent any spike in energy in the room. He was, since if any of the men on either side had a rush of anger, all Sarnai's would. His words were gruff and quick. "The map. Give it now. Don't make any sudden movements and perhaps you'll live longer than you think... They haven't snapped out of it yet, hurry up..." By 'snapped out of it' he ment that the brothers were in a momentary daze, but did tha include Raban? Was he so beside himself with rage that he was level? This was without a doubt, the calm before the storm, so the best be moving quick. Well, as quick as they could.

Just once in my life
I think it'd be nice
To just loose myself
Loose the monster inside me
And be free

I was once asked why I care about my brothers
More then I do myself
The answer is simple, you see
When I'm gone, they must not depend on me
They need to heal their own wounds
Fight their own wars
And speak their own words

The four men have never seen anything more heartbreaking and terrifying than watching the supernaturals in the room react to the video. Mandrin, who had looked so dangerous before, look almost pathetic. The men didn’t understand why he reacted like that to the video, but Tenshi’s words suddenly rung in their heads. She had told them that legends have told that creatures who were not of human birth have abilities; abilities such as sharing the pain of their partner. Even Nicholas had to admit that such an ability could be a gift if you needed to know if your partner was alright. But all these men were swallowed in fear at the boys who they thought were harmless. But they also saw their inner struggles when the man on the screen accused Tenshi of selling the boys. But the traitors had thought these men to be idiots if they truly considered that the four kind and compassionate women would ever turn them away after all their time spent together.

Raban’s anger was undoubted from how his bones and veins could be seen; even his own kin backed away from him. Poor Mandrin seemed like he was being torn apart from the inside from how he shook his head, trembled, and cried. The way Samual’s eyes changed color to show he was giving up almost made Scott want to hazard a punch to knock some sense into him. But he quickly refrained as he heard Samual’s jaw snap shut and his eyes took the gleam of that of a predator; determined and unwavering. Even the cold Kaito displayed the horror he felt at seeing the girl he adorned be battered around like a rag doll. But the sympathy David held turned to fear once more to see the rage that burned his eyes. It reminded him so much of a dog who was going to tear anything in its path to get to his owner or his toy that brought him peace. But Raban once more stole the show with his eyes turning red and his arms becoming engulfed in sunless black feathers. He was in shock…but also in fury. Either way, the four humans did not want to be in the way of these four.

But any hope of getting away was destroyed when it was revealed who exactly led the foul man to the innocent women. They shifted around nervously, all trying to find a way to escape with their life, but held no doubt they would come out heavily injured. It was the glare that became too much for Nicholas that had urged him to do away with the transmitter. But the words that followed were to haunt their minds.

Tyler felt immense guilt at the young boy whose words were filled with betrayal. It was almost like talking to the innocent Amaya that held such faith in him. However, he didn’t want to admit that Mandrin was right; that he was more afraid for his life than guilty for what he has done. “They said they weren’t going to hurt her. I wouldn’t ever want anything to happen to my Amaya. I just wanted her away from you so I could talk to her; convince her to be with me.” Perhaps it was the need to be honest or the fear speaking for him, it didn’t occur to Tyler that these words perhaps did more harm than good to him. He didn’t understand that harpies were possessive creatures, or at least didn’t understand the magnitude of how possessive they were. And he certainly didn’t know that the brother know as Greed had claimed Amaya as his.

The man with the glasses was incredibly unnerved at the way Kaito looked into him; frozen in place and had to think to breathe. His calm words sent him nearly asphyxiating; knowing that this was the calm before the storm. This man was not known for being calm; he was Wrath. But David’s breath was caught in his throat as Kaito told him he wanted an explanation before he killed him. Like it was a fact. The words came gushing out of David, his mind not processing exactly what he was saying until he was done. “I-I didn’t know this would happen. I-I thought Ryuu was just a story they made up to hide their real past. I would have never touched her if I knew she was a monster.” A long time ago, Hoshi had confided in Kaito why she thought she was a monster in her other form. She had shifted and her close friend had seen her other form. He had called her a monster, not knowing it was the grey eyed girl, and was going to attack before she made her escape. She had also told Kaito she had never really made friends except that one boy and his words had stung and scarred her deeper than she thought it would for she had thought he would have accepted all of her; but she left with her sisters without an explanation. That friend that had hurt her nearly as deeply as the man who had sentenced her being buried alive was David.

Scott could see clearly the war of colors going through Samual’s eyes. Though he did not really on his mind, he had figured out that the colors meant the different emotions Samual was feeling; and it seemed Samual was feeling more than his own feelings. It was almost as if he was drawing from the feeling in the room. But his harsh words evoked Scott’s short temper. “I don’t hate her! She should have been with me and not someone like you! Everything was better before you and your freaks called brothers came and ruined it for us!” It was obvious from how he spoke that he didn’t know; didn’t know that Nariko was also a ‘freak’. With every word he spoke, his voice became louder, filled more with his red burning anger. His hands even glowed red as if to cause pain like he had done to Nariko by accident. But before Scott could indulge in his anger, Nicholas moved in front of Scott and interrupted his tirade.

The eldest man carefully reached into his pocket and drew the map. His eyes were hard and looked straight into the hard blue and bloody red eyes of Raban. “He said his lair is near the clearing you first fought his men; just go forward more. Go and get her; I want nothing to do with that thing.” He spoke as if he was talking about trash or a stray dog, not of the girl he got jealous over or harmed. He stuck his hand out and offered the map to Raban, his stance erect and head high as if he thought he was coming out of all of this unscratched.

The four men thought that the shifted beings in front of them were not capable of killing. But out of fear, Tyler and David used their powers in hopes to protect themselves or at least buy themselves some time. Tyler took a deep breath and made the area around them change slightly; more light was in the room. Suddenly, little Amaya came bounding down the steps; giggling as she normally did. She stood in front Mandrin, blinking those innocent brown eyes of her. She smiled at him, as if silently asking him to play with her. “Samual,” a familiar voice called out, coming from the kitchen. “Can you help me with something?” the voice crooned, trying to coax Samual to follow. That call was then followed by a gentle and soft voice. “Kaito…” It sounded as if it came from upstairs. And low and behold, Hoshi stood there at the top of the stairs as if waiting for white harpy to come to her. Tenshi then stepped from behind Raban, placing a gentle hand on his shoulder. “It’s alright, Raban. I’m here…” she cooed.

But something was wrong. Their images would dim at random or look faded. Their voices were almost robotic and would go off in pitch. The humans were trying to trick the boys. And as their play continued, the boys themselves were trying to inch their way out the door.

~~~
Everything was dark thanks to the blindfold, and that is what greeted Amaya when she awoke. She tried to calm herself, not wanting to draw attention to herself, but failed. She began to tremble once more and her breathing soon became sobs. The men in the room began to chuckle and steadily made their way o her. She curled up tighter, feeling the ability t breath leaving her as fear gripped her once more. She felt her hair pulled again, forcing her to her knees once more. She was shaking like a leaf, and was sobbing pathetically. But she began to hyperventilate as she heard the sound of a zipper being pulled down. It was an eerily familiar sound in the silence; the sound similar to when the men of the House dragged her into a room and was getting ready to take her. But Tenshi was there every time to stop the monsters from hurting her. This time, Tenshi was caught by the monsters too.
The headband was ripped off, blinding her momentarily. Her chocolate eyes were wide with fear and filled with tears. The once happy and optimistic girl was replaced by a terror struck woman who knew what would happen next. She looked like one of the new arrivals of the pleasure house that was looking up at her first customer. Her eyes, her emotional gateways to her soul. Looked into the eyes of the ruthless and selfish man with the sadistic grin. “I’m going t be the last thing you are ever going to see,” he chuckled, his other hand holding the knife. Amaya’s eyes widened and began to struggle, ignoring the pain. She managed to have a fleeting moment of freedom, at the expense of her hair. The man brought down the knife and cut through some of her dark and soft hair. The cut strands fluttered and fell to the ground, making the tresses uneven. Bu it was only a momentary victory.
Hair was once more grabbed. The knife was held high. But this time, it made the contact it was originally aiming for. It cut across her face, over her eyes. She let out an ear piercing scream that the man almost seem to be relishing in the sound, her hands moving to cover the injured area. ‘I don’t want to be here…I wanna go home…Mandrin, where are you?’
She imagined that she wasn’t there. She wasn’t on the cold floor. She was back in the purple grove Mandrin showed her. The sun shone brightly and warmed her skin. She wasn’t trembling, she was being held by her harpy. She didn’t hear the heavy footfalls or how the men mockingly called her ‘the wiling flower’. She probably did curled up on the ground so broken, bloody, and scared. She, instead, remembered the sound of Mandrin’s rapid heartbeat. His happy giggle. His bright eyes and tender smile that captivated her. The way he would coo ‘I love you’ or ‘my ‘lil Amaya.’ She remembered how Mandrin came to her in the nick of time.
Her chopped hair was grabbed once more and she was hauled up a large hand pulling down her hands from her face. Tears and blood mingled and fell down her cheeks; a red line coming across her eyes to reveal where she was harmed. She could feel another coming closer, the one who undid the zipper of his pants. With the last of her energy, she opened her mouth and let out one word come out in a shrill scream; one that was more desperate and terrified than when she was dropped by the other evil men. “MANDRIN!”
The situation looked pretty grim for Nariko. But Nariko being Nariko didn’t go down easily. With all of her thrashing, she had managed to warm herself up. Which led to one of her arms becoming free and burning the face of the guy who spoke of breaking her. That didn’t settle well with him. After screaming in rage and grasping his face in agony, he ordered Nariko to be freed. She tried making running away, bating the guys who tried to hold her back and burning any that touched her. But they once more doused her in freezing water and held her down.
Her teeth chattered from the cold, but she tried to keep her jaw tightly shut in hopes to stop her teeth from chattering and quell her trembling. Any other would assume it was because of the cold, but it was in fact out of fear. Fear of what was to happen to her and if she was going to come out alive. Insults were thrown and Nariko was met with a foot in her stomach. She wheezed another offense and earned a blow to the cheek. Soon enough, the men didn’t need a reason to hit her.
Everything hurt. Punches turned to kicks. And kicks turned into weapons. Blood spilled onto the floor like an offering, but Nariko refused to let out a sound. But after a while, it became too much even for her. She let out a whimper and curled up onto her side. Her dog ears and tail appeared, indicating the rush of demonic blood coming to try and heal the wounds, but all in vain. The blows continued to fall, blood continued to shed, and now her bones began to give away. The pain was becoming too much and she let her body go limp.
She closed her eyes, too damaged to summon the energy to keep them open. Behind her eye lids, she imagined being with Samual. His mischievous lavender eyes lighting up with a scheme. His smile with his freckles decorating his cheeks. Despite his body being colder than hers, she was comfortable when he held her or teased her. Her inner demon practically purrs when she caught his scent. She tried to ignore the blows that fell upon her and tried to focus on how she felt when she slept in Samual’s arms.
She vaguely wondered how Samual felt about her. She hoped she got it through to that dense siren that she cared for him, but wondered if he felt the same for her. A sharp and piercing pain broke her thoughts; the pain coming from her back. Nariko was almost sure something broke as the painful scream escaped her lips. She was no stranger to pain but this was something out of her realm. How could Tenshi tolerate such pain and still move? Smile? Protect them?
Nariko felt herself being moved onto her back, causing the dog demon to hiss in pain. The light in the room hurt her eyes and the floor did nothing to help with her back. Instead of her senses dulling, they were painfully aware of how heavy the air was with her blood. She’d rather be brutally killed than raped multiple times. She wasn’t sure if she could face Samual if she lets these monsters do what they want with her body.
Despite her best efforts, the whip came down on Hoshi’s skin multiple times. The fact her hands were still bound and was weighed down by a serious injury did not help matters. She moved her wings to take most of the blows. The skin of her wings were tough so the lashing weren’t so bad, but it still hurt. She didn’t bother figuring out how long it had been since the lashing began or how many blows fell; more concerned about staying awake despite her slowly going into shock. If she fell asleep, she might not wake up. Bu her will was beginning to weaken and her captors noticed.
They went over and grabbed her, making Hoshi hiss in pain. They tied her up, causing the stormy eyed girl to cry out in pain and cause tears to sting her eyes from how they manhandled her injured shoulder. She suddenly felt herself be hauled up and forced to stand in a chair. She moved to fall off but stilled as she felt something move tighter around her neck. They tied a noose around her neck. And from how one of them had a foot on the chair, she doubted she would be on it for long. “Any last words, freak?”
Hoshi took in a shaking breath, the pain clouding and fogging her mind. “He is my Kaito…and I am his Hoshi,” she murmured in the quiet room, her voice echoing as she felt her vision become blurry. If she was going to die here, she might as well remember him in her last moments. One of the men chuckled, “do you think he’d still want you if another man had you?” Before letting her answer, he kicked the chair from underneath her. It was not enough force to snap her neck, only to strangle her.
Her breath came out in wheezes and her vision began to fill with dots. Her body thrashed despite the pain that course through her being, almost to her very core. She could feel a hand on her thigh and it slowly made its way up. They weren’t going to kill her; just too weak to fight back. Tears cascaded down her cheeks and she shut her eyes tightly. ‘Kaito…’
Tenshi let out a grunt and it took all of her energy to attempt to open her eyes. Sound was very muffled to her sluggish mind. Even her senses were numbed. She couldn’t feel anything and felt like her bod weighed a ton; even her fingers were impossible to lift. With another tired groan, she opened her eyes but only managed to make them half lidded. She was still hung by the chains from the clanking sounds produced very time she moved. She was still very injured since her body had practically shut down the nerves. She was alone from what she could tell and breathing was becoming a chore. She had never felt so horrible in all of her life.
She didn’t even notice the uncouth men entering the room once more; eyes hungry for the scene that ley before them. The Halfling was much more preoccupied with the man sitting on his haunches in front of her body. His purple hair cascaded down his back and his vulgar orange eyes swept over her body. He reached out to touch her but a hand smacked his; it was Ryuu. They talked, argued, over something but Tenshi’s muddled mind couldn’t really understand. She almost felt as if she was leaving her body. She smiled wistfully, thinking how nice it would be to no longer hurt and leave all of these dark memories once and for all. She was sure the younger boys would come rescue her girls. But what about Raban?
She let her eyes drift shut and let her thoughts wander t him. He was a good man, a very god man. He was stubborn to. When Nicholas had given up reaching to her when she lost her memories, Raban remained faithful and stuck it out with her until the end. Although he tried to hide the medication he took, she knew of it and its purposes. It was to quell the lust that coursed through him, particularly the lust he had for her. She figured it out when Nicholas suddenly attacked her that night and Raban had stepped in and saved her. He knew of her boundaries, of her insecurities, and of her fears. And he did everything he could to make sure she was comfortable and helped her overcome her negatives. He was patient for her and had eyes only for her. He teased her, which pleased her despite the blush that always follows after. He even went against his nocturnal nature so he could spend more time with her during the hours she was awake.
Amber eyes slightly opened, only being slits. Her bright irises stood out against her bloody and pale complexion. She was still a bit insecure of whether or not Raban truly wanted her. She was an abomination against nature; a mistake that should have been killed but can’t because of her ability to live. Maybe this time she won’t. Raban deserved to have some beautiful, smart, and be able to make him happy. But a part of Tenshi still wanted to be selfish and keep that blue eyed siren to herself. She felt her head become incredibly light and she was fairly sure she wasn’t breathing for a few moments. She was deterring on the boundary of life and death. She faintly remembered her mother telling her that when someone with unique powers was close to death and after death could communicate with anyone on the planet. If Tenshi could, she’d like to have a few last words with Raban. ‘I’m so broken…can I still be fixed? Would you still…want such a broken toy? Would you keep me…if I promised you my heart?’
The world was spinning to Tenshi and she looked around to see she was being moved. She barely registered the new pain as she was placed on her back on the ground with her wrists still above her head and attacked to the floor. The men shifted her legs so they were sprawled outwards but still parted. She saw Isao in her vision, hovering over her. She slowly closed her eyes, but a few stray tears made a clean path down her damaged cheeks. ‘My only regret…is that I didn’t…let him love me first…’ She spoke of giving her body to Raban. She had planned to do so after Amaya’s birthday when they were alone together. She loved him, no doubt in her heart or mind, and wanted to share her life with him. She was just waiting for the right time.
That could be said for the other girls as well. Amaya is too young to commit to something so serious, especially with how her species goes about it. Nariko and Samual had yet to confess to each other their feelings. Hoshi and Kaito would not bed each other until marriage. And Tenshi, though she’d prefer to wait until marriage, wanted to overcome her insecurities so that she held no doubts of what would happen after her night of passion with the man she called her mate in her heart.
The Sarnai Brothers
Even if we're monsters, even if we're freaks,
We're a family. A family that protects each other.
If only there was someone who could tell the grave danger in the room who knew the brothers. The four boys who didn't belong in the household may have been scared, maybe on the verge of mortification, but they did not know the brothers personally. They may know the surface of the brother, or just their face, but they did not know that they've never acted in such a group hatred before. Rarely ever did Raban find his iris a blood rust. He was always the one calming the rest. Now? He didn't bother. He knew it would be a useless attempt to jump in the line of this fire, but that wasn't what stopped him. It was a bitter voice in his mind. It asked 'why should he?' It was much louder than he'd ever heard it before. When Raban held a knife to a man's throat who had just hit his brother, the voice was there, hissing out demands to kill. Raban didn't listen to it before, but now, oh now, there wasn't a single thought in his mind that could shy to it. While the boys spoke, making fatal errors, his lips crept upwards into a sickening grin. It would seem he lost sanity himself, eyes clouding over to one solid red, then specked with shining white around the iris. He found himself holding back laughter after each boy made their response. Pathetic. They were only making their own holes. And the only women in the world who could possibly save them? Well, they could not be present for the time being. Too bad.
There was a cruel little purr that tinted the air, the space between Samual and the boys. While Raban looked like a madman, Samual was no different. He'd always been that vindictive kind who'd gladly stab your back or plot against you, but this was novel. He was reaping the revenge for Nariko. He could taste the air, the fear, confusion, aggression, and what would be their spilled blood. Speaking of spilled blood... Kaito was starting to eye the boy in front of him like how a harpy should. A feral, rabid harpy. He looked at David as food. Ya know, having been sick earlier that day, he didn't get enough breakfast. He really was pretty hungry. They'd mentioned earlier, on the walk in, what happens when a harpy felt they were in danger. As the old saying goes... the only thing a harpy has to fear is being eaten by another harpy. That was until they created bows. Then they had to worry about being shot, then eaten.
Mandrin wiped his face with the back of his hand to rid the shed tears of pain and shoved all of those angry thoughts away from his center mind, so he could hear what was being said. He wanted that b*****d to know he had the gold harpies undivided attention and everything he said was going to be heard. Every word was going to be processed, cut up, flipped around, and set back down again. The start of his explanation didn't seem so bad, almost like he truly didn't want her harmed. He should have just stopped there. As he went on, every portion of Mandrin's face etched with one word. Mistake. He was falling into a pit that he will not get out of! But the top of the cake... calling Amaya his. Mandrin lifted his upper lip and his white teeth glinted. When he snarled, his nose scrunched up and his eyes became slits. Just merciless red orbs held no kindness. No glee. No charitable benevolence. Those were traits of Mandrin. Mandrin was gone. The man with his wing extended backwards and razor talons in the floorboards, digging in, was a creature man set out to kill in olden days. The monster Mandrin had only released once before. It was only a matter of time before the floor became his neck. And also, to make this even worse? Mandrin's stomach let a small moan of hunger. Such an appetite was working inside him.
Kaito met the eyes of the one in front of him, then let his eyes wander. If he were to strike, hah, when he strikes, where will it be? Where will the best meat come from? Where will it be the juiciest, or the most tender, but not fat? Hmm... Will he eat him raw, or cook him? Bleed him out or boil the blood off him? Kaito snapped his eyes back up when he said monster. Kaito knew the story behind that word. He knew where it hurt Hoshi, but now he knew where it came from. He chuckled through clenched teeth. "You think she's a monster?" Kaito snickered. He sounded about as vicious as Mandrin looked, except he was the one with a sharp grin. "You have no idea. I'll show you what a monster looks like." He sneered out. He took a step closer to the scrawny male, but there was a hand suddenly on his arm. Raban's. What was he doing? Kaito bared his teeth, but Raban did not move. The boys were not done.
Samual couldn't help himself. Watching and listening to Scott... He lost it. Laughter erupted from his lips, as if he had heard the best joke on the face of the Earth. The red that shone on his hands, the anger in his voice, his choice of words... "You're so pathetic! What's the use of even killing you now? Hah! You little ********, you're blood is so low!" Samual was the only one he found this funny. Nobody else laughed. It was just him. He stood straight and sighed, his head cocked to the side. He had a calming smile. Face of Sloth. "Oh, kid. You have to be kidding. We're the freaks? That's sad. You're sad." He shook his head gently, like he was scolding a child for throwing a stuffed animal.
Raban accepted the map, but he didn't take it at first. He knew that when he did, all hell was going to break loose. Hell and a half. He looked at the map, then back up to Nick. Perhaps he was the only one not looking at the man in front of him like he was going to chew him up and spit him out. Or was he? Nope. He was thinking far worse things. If Nick thought he was getting out of this with just death, he was wrong. Raban was going to make him suffer physically and emotionally. He was a lover, not a fighter, but revenge goes to neither of those categories. Oh, he loved revenge. His final words would not be his last. Surely there will be other things he'll say before he dies. Raban looked over his strong stance and chuckled. "It's nice to see a man who accepts his death with pride. Quite a change."
Then there was the tomfoolery. Raban had taken the map from the man already, and the brothers were tensed to lunge. If the voices were a second later, there would not be any men to save, but they saved themselves as they had expected. For a few moments? Yes. Mandrin's eyes were wide and peaceful seeing Amaya. His heart fluttered and his wings relaxed. Despite his ragged looks, he was again that sad puppy. The scarlet red eyes were almost delighted to have Amaya there with him, but it didn't last long. The same happened for the rest of the brothers. They tore through the lies faster than the youngest, since the fake Amaya wasn't speaking. They knew the voices were unreal as soon as the first word was spoken. Mandrin reacted first when he finally saw through the lie. He turned sharply on his heel and with a blur of motion, drove his fist into Tyler's gut. The other hand went for his throat, which he squeezed until he knew it was killing him. He jumped for the nearest way out, breaking glass and extending wing. He rose up into the air and let go of Tyler's throat. This was going to be his last moments. Mandrin used his clawed feet to grapple on to Tyler's shoulder's, then stopped flapping. He stretched his legs downwards and they fell. Tyler would hit the ground first. And he did. The ground always came fast. Every time Mandrin lifted the boy into the air, he released him and got a new grab. New places to dig in his claws. While Mandrin did this again and again, Kaito had rammed David against the wall. With his whole hand around the boy's skull, he continued to smash his cranium against the hard surface. All the while he was gnashing out awful words. "Is this some kind of joke to you? Well? Are you laughing yet?!" It might be hard to laugh when you're making cracks in the wall with someone's head. Silly Kaito. He then grabbed his throat, his whole hand wrapped around it, and lifted him into the air. He threw the man with as much force as he could across the room, and before he could slide to the floor after crashing against the opposite wall, something happened. There were daggers in the harpy's hands. Raban certainly did not make them. That man was busy on his own. They weren't there before, either. So? Kaito was starting his manifesting at a good time. He hurled those knives at the man, driving them through points of flesh and pinning him up to the wall. There was blood dripping down like an exotic modern painting. They just kept coming. David was held up by his palms, elbows, shoulder blades, and thighs. Those weren't nearly enough to keep his weight above ground and with tearing that would sicken most, he fell to the floor. No main arteries were broken with Kaito's aim. The man snickered and sauntered over to David, gripping him by his hair and picking him up. "I'm not going to kill you yet. No, not yet. You're going to wait here. If you're lucky, you'll bleed out and die, and if not... Well..." He laughed. "You'll get to meet a real monster." Samual had taken none more of this s**t. He saw Nariko's lie and felt about ready to puke. When he turned on Scott, there was a sickening metallic grind, and there it was. The offspring of Samual's rage. A scythe was carelessly swung in his hands, and for a second or two, Samual admired it. The glint of light on it's double edge, the strings that dangled from the butt of it... It was his pride and joy. He smirked. Raban's voice rose above the carnage of what was happening already. "Guess you lucked out, Scott." Samual was impatient. He spun the scythe between his fingers, then jumped at him. He brought his arms down hard, aiming for the throat. He ripped a jagged chunk right out of it. He lifted the scythe high and moved before Scott could do anything more. He sunk the blade deep into his neck, held it there a moment, then ripped it the rest of the way. No waiting.
It was Nick who was really screwed, and he probably knew it. Raban held the map in one had, hen let himself shift completely. A harpy black as night itself, feathers of ink. "Oh Nick. You know, I pity a lot of people. I show mercy. I don't kill. Hell, Mandrin has killed more often than I have. But you know what? I won't regret a single thing that I'm going to do to you. You are going to know suffering. I won't let you die until you do." His sickeningly sweet smile turned with the snake-like tone of voice. So sly, cunning, and smooth. Without touching the man, Raban backed up, then snapped his fingers. A cage with iron bars appeared around the human. It was thin and tall. He was going to be standing. The bottom of the cage was not rods. From his knees down, it was like a bucket container. With another snap, it hat was full. It was filled to the brim with rodents. Rats, snakes, mice... Things that didn't like to be stressed out or in small places. Raban giggled. "Don't move to much, they bite!~" He whistled to his brothers, who then finished their business, and followed. Tyler was now nothing but a lump of flesh and shattered bones. David was pinned to the wall standing, his hands healed and stabbed again. His calves were pinned as well. What kept him from running? He could if he wanted to. Kaito made sure to tell him that if he did... He would find him, and what he had coming was going to be so, so much worse. Scott was not dead, but without a throat? He didn't have long. Raban whistled a long, single tone
With blood on their hands, claws, and nails, they fled.
Mandrin left his kin behind him, tuning into natural instincts. Anything and everything in his way was going to be taken down until he got to Amaya. Except for the trees. Mandrin didn't touch the trees in a harmful manor, knowing they were like an extension to Amaya. While his feet pounded the ground with his feet, legs rushing as fast as he could. None of his family stopped him, trying to mate his pace, failing quick. They kept up with him, but as soon as he was knelt on all fours, he was gone. Just a memory of a wisp. Both hands and feet tore up the ground while he dashed, wings tucked close to his body to reduce drag. He leaped low branches like hurdles, the same with any stray animals. His face set in a runner's glare, only seeing in front of him. He couldn't see far at the speed he was going, but he could react fast enough to know when to leap. Did he have the map or directions? No. Not at all. But he knew his brothers would have made a beeline to the girls, so when they started to run, he took that direction and ran.
The other three brothers kept an even speed with each other. None was much faster than the others, all following the tracks set by their youngest. Kaito leaped into the trees, darting forward by the air. He made it up to the sky, but didn't lift. He was treetop running. His wings opened to keep him up, his arms and legs pushing him forward like Mandrin had. His sight was impaired with speed and his raven black hair in his eyes, but his sense of scent tracked his younger. Down below, the siren and a black harpy galloped side by side. The siren kept in the shadow of the trees while still running straight. He made not a noise. Not one footfall on top of fallen leaves, not a broken twig. He was as silent as the night. At the same time, his energy screamed louder than he ever could. It could just be felt around him, gagging off any other emotion. It was a poison, almost. Raban was in a position almost like Mandrin, he just wasn't nearly as fast. His claws grabbed at tree roots to push himself further. He was attempting to play the silence like his brothers, but he cracked a stick here and there, made some noise. The lair was just in sight when he heard the voice in his ears. It rang as a whisper, just a thought. He had thought there was no space in his mind left for anything but his rage, but it wasn't a bubble of his. It was his female's voice. The mate that wasn't his mate. He almost tripped at the sound, but caught himself and galloped again. His younger two brothers were now slightly ahead of him, not going to wait one second. She was broken. Could she be fixed? Yes! She was a broken toy. Would he still keep her? With or without her heart, he'd stay with her! If she told him to leave, he'd stay! Even if she gave that heart to someone else, he wouldn't leave. If he would have, he wouldn't be pushing himself this hard!
Mandrin was already in the building, setting off alarms, when his brothers got there. In his hands, there was his trusty bow. A quiver on his back, full of arrows sharp as they'd ever been. It was obvious that when they entered the bashed down wall that the youngest had been there. Men in similar suits were scattered on the floor, arrows stuck in the middle of their foreheads. Easy deaths for a few lucky men. A few were shredded, limbs strewn over the ground. Those were the ones who had tried to harm Mandrin, who touched him. They were the ones who didn't have their heads even on their shoulders and marks of teeth over their skin. The other brothers didn't take much time examining these corpses.
They split up, racing down different halls, going where their hearts told them. Mandrin zoomed down his, going too fast to be noticed. His bow was strapped to his back, hooked around the quiver. He didn't know where he was going, but he just knew that the golden harpy and shy siren inside him were dashing in the same direction. The direction that suddenly called his name. He couldn't stop it, despite common sense telling him to not... He screamed her name back. The name of the only person who could have that voice. He screamed it again and again, his voice echoing off the halls. He didn't know where he was going still, but he suddenly turned a sharp angle and bashed into a door. It scrambled his head and made his sight dizzy, but he rammed into it again. And again, and again. On the fourth shove, whatever it was made out of fell to the floor. It crashed loudly and there were words called by the men inside. He didn't know what they said, not listening for their voices. He snarled savagely and lunged at them. He didn't take time to torture them or anything of that like. Not like had had done before with the boy. Without as much as innocent hesitation, he leaped onto their backs, and one by one, tore their heads from their shoulders. All of the death was but the sound of ripping, squishy solids falling to the floor, and surprised gasps and groans. Heads rolled. He moved so fast that first man, who held bloody knife, was still blinking up and Mandrin, who stopped a moment to meet his eyes. They were cold in no more than three seconds. Clouded over in a much deserved death.
When he cleared the room, he didn't bother closing the door. Nobody had come for them yet. And if they did, what would stop him from stringing another arrow? He started to coo Amaya's name, seeing her there on the floor. He saw the blood, the tears, he smelt the pain, the fear... He collapsed to his knees beside her. He crooned her name again, reaching out and touching her cheek. His hands were covered in blood. It was something he was just now noticing. Without looking at the rest of him, he knew his body was drenched in scarlet blood. He really was some monster, wasn't he? No time for that. He cupped Amaya's jawbone and left a bloody hand print on her broken face. "Shh... Shh... It's going to be alright now, Amaya. I'm here now. I'm here and nobody will hurt you..." He murmured to her. It was at this time he wished he was a healer, but he was not. Even if he could somehow manifest, he could not heal. And then he thought of the last time he said he'd protect her, while in the tree. Her wings were battered and he was going to run away with his brothers. He wanted to stay. "This time I mean it." He assured her. He carefully wrapped his arm around the girl and brought her close to him, scooting her onto his lap. He wanted her to feel him, his feathers, so she knew it was him. Mandrin himself didn't know what was wrong with her or that she hid her face because because of injury, but he felt that holding her was some type of thing to do. Would hearing his one and only heart beating calm her?
Samual busted down through halls, narrowly avoiding passing guards. He wondered how he did that, really. His hands smelt of Scott's blood, as did his drying scythe. Whenever he came close to another person, though, he ducked into a shadow, or behind a corner. They were hectic all around, roused by the slaughtering in the main room. He held his breath, watching the guards run by him. Nobody noticed the bloody boy? The one without an once of mercy as he gripped his weapon and crimson eyes that shone. Damn. No wonder why they were being siege by only four boys without a plan. He slinked forward again, hugging the wall and red eyes focused.
He didn't hear anything, but he knew it was the door he wanted when he came to it. He leaned close into it, pressing to it's cold surface. He could hear faint sounds from inside. Someone was being beaten in there. There was a hiss. It was a familiar sound. He heard it in the forest with Nariko, when Scott grabbed her with the intent to cause pain. She was in there without a doubt. He couldn't stay quiet anymore. He was barely hanging on to keeping the last tiny shred of silence he could manage, but without a warning sound, he began to scream. Samual was wordless and the sound came from absolutely everywhere. It was ear piercing in pitch and bellowed through the halls, giving away his location. His siren wail cut through the screaming as he started screeching demands. His blood pounded in his ears, cutting his own voice out from his hearing. He knew what he was saying, 'break down the door'. He said it in both his languages. One was louder.
As he expected, men soon came for him. They were far larger than himself and could easily size up to Raban. But they did not harm the scrawny screaming boy. They struggled to stand on their feet, as he still wailed. He did not need to control another mind, and he usually didn't. Mind control was best suited to Raban, who could sing a woman to swoon, or have anyone complete his wishes. But Samual could not sing his demands. He was screeching them. His voice subsided to a demonic grumble as he stepped aside and the men, stuck in a painful trance, began ramming themselves against the door. Samual screamed at them when they were slow, just damaging their eardrums. What did he have to care? As the door was broken down, Samual raised his scythe into the air, and wit a sickening crack, brought it across all of their necks. The curved blade sliced cleanly and left the heads sitting in the men's shoulders for a few moments before tumbling to the ground. Then the bodies fell.
Samual walked over them, swinging the scythe and glaring at the men. It spun between his fingers easily, but stopped in his grip as he took an attacking stance. He snarled at them, taking in ragged breaths of the thick air. It had the sting of blood perfumed through it. The vile metallic scent was enough to drive his sense of smell up the wall, but it being Nariko's made it that much worse. He hissed at the men and before one could touch her again or even dream of coming after him, he lunged for them, teeth, nails, and scythe. As he ripped and tore at the creatures who called themselves men, nothing could be heard over the sound of screaming. No, the screaming was not from the soon to be corpses. It shrieked and wailed. It swelled as he killed, growing louder and savage. Then there were nails across chalkboards, ghostly moans, a carnivore's beastly growl. Sounds of terror one might expect to find in a horror movie, only worse. He stared down the two men, the fear eater throwing a sickening cackle through his mouth. He was enjoying this, almost.
Then there was silence. Samual stood there with the bladed weapon hanging loosely in his hand. He just stared at the last man left and in the silence, you could hear a pin drop. He didn't blink, he didn't twitch. He could have been a doll almost. The wide glassy eyes, pale porcelain face, and still frame. He stood there until the other man decided to move. Was he going to run? Attack? Call for help? Those would have been nice. But no. The atmosphere in the room rose above frightening, higher than what he had pressured in the Tama's household. He snickered and jumped on the man, ramming him until they hit the wall. With a sweep of the scythe, Samual sliced his stomach, then proceeded to gut him alive. Blood pooled at their feet, dark and fresh. Samual didn't kill him. He backed away and kicked him to the ground. The guard would die on his own, laying there in his own bodily fluid and organs. He could wish for death, but nothing was going to come to him. No one was going to come for him.
Samual hadn't thought of what impact this might have had on Nariko and he immediately turned to face her. He wouldn't expect her to be any better than she was when he entered, but he didn't even check her before. He quickly shuffled to her side, dropping the scythe on the ground. He probably looked terrible. Blood smeared over his mouth and dripped off his chin, stains covering his clothes. His hands left smudges wherever he touched. As he collapsed o his knees beside her, the aurora of the air calmed. Only moments before, a fiery hell of terror, now it was as if it was void of any emotion. Samual looped his arms around her, one supporting the space between her shoulder blades, the other under her legs. He lifted her onto his lap and held her close to his chest. She felt so cold. A kind of cold that worried him more than anything about her.
He squeezed her against his chest and staggered to his feet. He didn't want to stay there. He had to get her somewhere warm. Outside. He looked around the room, just corpses. He took a moment to glare at the one who still lay on the floor, blinking up at them. He waltzed right out of the room, carrying his beaten and broken Nariko with him. As he stepped over the bodies again and entered the hallway, he was surprised to see the carnage all around. There was a mess that he surely did not make. When did that get there? There were claws and stab wounds. Men were in halves and ripped from the torso. Samual didn't take a second minute to look at it all, not wanting to face whoever that was. He hugged Nariko into him, trying to hide her face. "It's alright, Nariko. I've got you, just... stay focused. Don't fall asleep," Samual murmured. He feared she would fall victim to sleep, but never wake again. What would he do then? He shook his head, backing up into the room again. He didn't want to risk it out there. He carried her to the corner of the room, opposite the now dead man. He pressed his back against the wall and slid down to the floor, hugging Nariko against him. He just wanted to go home now. Nariko was cold and he was trying to warm her with himself, but a blanket and a nice bed would be fine with him as well. But he had Nariko in his arms and that's all that mattered.
He crashed through the halls, breathing violent and ragged. He didn't stop to even think about the men and monsters who he passed, who he killed before he even left his scent on them. A dark cloud rose in the whites of his eyes and threatened to take over it all, but his irises changed as well. They were not the same violent red his brothers had. They shed a ghastly glow as white as his feathers. His claws marred the floor, cutting it up not harder than if it was just butter. He had a dagger in one hand and the other was empty. He crashed down the hallways without anything subtle. No grace. No sly sneaking like a normal Kaito would have. In this day, he was not Kaito. He was a creature with a face flushed red in rage. He snarled with wrath at every person who dared enter his path. Sirens went off as he light up halls with their crimson blood, but he simply did not care.
He pushed down doors without knowing who was inside. There could have been anyone in the doors, but he was looking for one person. He tumbled down halls and personally killed everything with a heartbeat. Blood flew into the air as he shredded men limb from limb, not taking any damage himself. And even if anyone got him, he was healing instantly. He was on his ultimate rage mode and there was nothing that was going to stop him. Actually, if he thought about it, he was pretty sure he cut through a few walls. Not even walls of metal, or whatever they were, had stopped a rampaging savage harpy.
Dashing down halls, he was sure he went the wrong way when he followed the scent of his younger brothers. As he cleared those ways, unknowingly keeping his brothers safe from ambushing by guards, he thought he could hear Hoshi's distant voice. 'He is my Kaito... and I am his Hoshi.' He stumbled for a moment, face cleared of emotion. Then, with a snap of his jaw, he roared. Another dagger found it's way into his hand as he ran again. He slit throats, but took no time with the bodies. He did so until he came to her door. He did not check for a lock or a lack of, he just rammed right into the slab in his way. It gave away on the second shoulder. As it clattered to the ground, daggers were thrown with precise accuracy, hitting every target. The first being Hoshi's rope, the rest being the neck of the man touching her thigh. The blades sliced cleanly through both. As Hoshi fell, Kaito lunged forward to catch her, simultaneously ripping the remaining noose from her neck. He set her down on the floor and stood in front of her, back turned to the girl he was out to save. He snarled at the remaining men, face twisted with the rage of the monster. He was not handsome in any way, shape, or form. He was a monstrosity. Creature of myth.
His wings opened fully, stretching from tip to tip. It was a sign of challenge as he flapped them. He bared his teeth at the others in a primal fashion, but before he could be accepted or denied, he pounced on the nearest male. He grabbed the others head on his open foot, crushing it between his strong talons. There wasn't enough height in the room to kill an enemy the traditional way, but Kaito made due. He let none of these men die easily, breaking their bones his his claws as he picked them up and threw them against them walls. He was like a white hurricane of feathers. He just came from nowhere and destroyed everything. Everything except his dear Hoshi.
One guard tried to escape, but Kaito had caught that in his preferential vision, then turned on his heel to rip at his throat, but not with a dagger. He took to his predatory instincts and ripped the throat away with his teeth. He did not mercy these men and he was going to kill them in whichever way he pleased.
But as the last body fell and his soft feathers soaked the blood, he froze again. Wile he was treating the guards to their end, he left Hoshi. What had happened to her while he was gone? His face paled again, though his eyes refused the change. He, for the moment, was stuck in the mindset of an animal. His eyes reflected the light as his pupil grew wide, looking over the frail gargoyle before him. Only he didn't see her as a gargoyle, he saw his mate and his love. He cautiously stepped closer to her and crouched down. He could see the condition she was in, but he couldn't heal this all at one sitting. He'd more than likely lose all his energy and just pass out. That would be bad.
He carefully slipped his hands around her and lifted the fragile girl onto his lap. He needed to start healing her, the major things. He touched around her neck, letting his mending seep into the redness that was where the rope was choking her. His gaze was soft as he looked her over for the most painful wounds and breaks, turning her around like she was a damaged rag doll. He stopped to look at her wings, with the many gashes and lashings. He grumbled and ran is fingers over the surface of her wings, but there was far too much to heal. All he could do for the moment was keep her off the ground and away from getting her wounds away from infection. It would just save time in the future. Kaito sighed, mismatched eyes partially relieved that he had her in his grasp, but also concerned for her health. He'd tell her this, but he was finding difficulty accessing his voice. He settled on the floor, taking her into his blood covered arms and just holding her. He felt the fight drain out of him as he held his Hoshi, knowing she was his and anyone who tried to come between them was going to have a fate similar to those who tried previously.
The hardest trial was yet ahead. The eldest brother knew what he had coming for him before he even entered the building. He had seen the film. He saw his broken Tenshi. He had heard her voice as he ran. He knew what to expect as he ran down the halls, but the lack of knowledge of what was happening without his viewing eyes was what kept him from caring about the bodies that fall behind him. His long, thin bird's claws pushed the floor and he barely had enough eyesight in front of him to see where turns in the hallways were. When one came up too fast, he merely jumped onto it and used the force to push off in his desired direction.
Some time during this organized chaos, a manifested katana turned up in his palm. It would be the best choice of weapon in this surrounding, as it was quicker than a sickle, more accurate than a barbed nightmare, and easier to use than a crossbow. He swung the silver blade as he passed man after man, but a reoccurring thought he often had there... Why were the guards so easy? They truly were like those in the action movies. Well, this was a bad time to reflect on that. He needed to focus on the task at hand, finding and protecting Tenshi. He could feel himself coming closer and closer to her, but... Her presence was weakening. A frozen chill crawled up his spine. She was losing a war inside herself and if he wasn't fast enough... He wouldn't be there to save her in time.
The door he stopped for was the one that held his love, he knew. He hid behind a corned stealthily, hearing the beat of a man's heart. He stood still, guarding the door, as his job dictated. He had an alarm in his palm, and while peeking around the corner, Raban could guess it was in waiting for him. If he stepped out, the switch was thrown. If he tried to throw something, the switch was gone. He couldn't step around the corner. What was he to do... His heart beat loudly, thumping so hard he was surprised he was only one who heard it. Back against the wall, he looked straight forward and knew what to do. It had been some time since he'd tried doing anything like this, and he wasn't sure he could. Whenever he tried anything with the hint of his power, he was scolded and punished by fire. But this was important and he couldn't just let a few bad memories stop him. He took a deep breathe and began to take the man's mind in a singsong voice of handful of sirens. He spoke without words, in a tongue he didn't understand himself. Many different pitches and impossible to ignore. His wailing was not painful as his brother's had been, but tempting to follow. There were a few hitches in his song, where he recalled the pain he received for this, but it was followed by a burst of more strength, knowing the cause of his action. If there was to be a tired sailor at sea, hearing this song in the distance would be a pleasure. Here, there wasn't much for distance and the man, worked up for a fight, was easily taken. He dropped the alarm and, as planned, came to meet Raban, not knowing what he was doing.
The trap worked and there was one more corpse. Raban searched that corpse for a key, expecting that cell to have been locked. His face twisted around in frustration when he didn't have one on him, making Raban choose a new method of entrance. If the door wouldn't open on it's own, he was going to just use this man as a battering ram. Raban tried the door, but what do you know, it opened on it's own. He made no attempt to sneak in, nor did he care that the minor guards were instantly trying to get him. With a simple demand of his monotone voice, "Drop." They fell to their hands and knees. Raban was cruel with his next set of orders, but by the siren's wish, they followed. "Weapons at attention." All men on the floor drew their weaponry. They all had something, whether it was gun, knife,or dagger. They all held their item tightly, waiting more order. Raban's lips curled up into a crazed man's smirk. "Perish." In a bout of group suicide, they all placed their artillery to where it needed to be, blades to throats and guns to heads, and finished themselves. Raban could not be accountable for the murder, for he could not be justified to it. He was simply a man who watched it happen.
He stretched out his wings and glared at the two men he did not kill. The one whom he'd heard Tenshi speak of, he one and only father of the year, and the other, who he'd seen on the video not long before. The one who was too close to her. He glared the man down and drew his katana. He moved carefully over the bodies as he came closer, not breaking eye contact.
An urban myth says something about the stare of a raven. When one looks into the pitch black beads of their pupils, they can see more than they ever could. They see distances further than anything. But you are now in the staring contest and you must wait for the raven to look away, not a moment before. If you are the first, the bird takes half of your soul.
Raban snarled at Isao, turning the blade in this grip. He sauntered towards the man, showing him teeth and locking his eyes in place. Then, without hint of warning, Raban lunged and shoved the blade deep into the other man's thigh. Then again. Raban can be terribly envious of another man time and time again, but he'd never hurt them. Until this. Raban was going to deprive the male of the one thing he men to please before he gets to die. However, Raban made quick work of him. He glared at him and held the katana in position. "You just aren't worth the time." And with that head of purple hair rolled on the floor. Raban wielded a very sharp blade. He stuck the weapon in the chest on the body, as if it were a mount, and fled to Tenshi. The father had escaped, that Raban was sure of, but he wouldn't be able to get far. They would find him, wherever he went. Raban began breaking apart chains and the like while getting Tenshi freed. Okay, so maybe he wasn't really breaking them. He manifested a skeleton key to assist him. Either way, He removed Tenshi from her binds and brought her into his embrace. He didn't feel that she was all there as he started to leave. "C'mon, Tenshi, don't give up yet. I'm here now. Raban fought through too many guards to just let you go. Please, Tenshi, say something..." He said in a soothing coo. He was on his feet and carrying her through the halls already. What time were they going to waste? None. He had to get her back home and get her to start healing before anything more could happen. And besides, that was too easy. There had to be more guards somewhere... Oh never mind. Raban paused for a moment to see an even worse trail of murder than his own. Triple the men he killed lay in the hall. On the floor, against walls, shredded in halves, quarters, even less. The only logical reasoning for this was that Kaito had taken his wrath here while trying to find Hoshi. Raban was going to make sure to be careful around him until Hoshi woke up. Raban shuddered, eyes darting around the hall as he quickly stepped around bodies. If that was Kaito, he could only imagine Mandrin.
The fear and danger in the living room was thick enough to be cut with a knife. Or as the four traitors felt, it was thick enough to choke even a normal human. The human boys thought themselves to be acquainted with fear. Its icy grip, its adrenaline, and the knowledge that there is a chance you may not survive. But this crippling fear was altogether different and new. This fear had an indefinite message: they were going to die. And there was nothing they can do about it. And if the inhuman boys got their way, their deaths would be slow; to show them the pain they brought upon the mangled girls and the betrayed half-breed boys. And as any human faced with rear, they fought. Or at least tried.
It was difficult keeping a steady glare on the harpy figure with blood eyes, bathed in onyx feathers. Especially when said eldest brother held a smile that was the embodiment of insanity. And the only boy in the room not in plumage looked just as senseless as the eldest. The other two feathered brothers were nothing to scoff at either. They both looked hungry; hungry for revenge and the flesh of the moronic men.
Despite the fact that the young man before Tyler was a deadly creature, he felt a little bad. Seeing him on the floor, screaming in pain as if sharing the agony the little girl they both sough. He was not afraid or ashamed to show how he felt about the young woman; not that he needed to worry. As a predator, he had nothing to fear. And his older brothers would no doubt jump to protect him.
A bit of hope swelled in the boy with the green hair as the golden harpy had a look of understanding at his explanation; that all he sought was Amaya’s happiness. He was about to thank every god in the sky until the kind brother snarled. Tyler was taken back and quickly ran through what he said to cause the harpy to be so pissed. Raban’s words ran through his head of how possessive harpies and sirens were. ‘s**t…’
Any sign of Mandrin disappeared along with any of Tyler’s hope. His white teeth look much sharper and his already freaky eyes looked terrifying. Tyler never realizes how much he would desperately want to see golden eyes on the younger brother until the heavy glare of bloody eyes was set on him. He could hear the wood beneath his claws break and give away and see the muscles and strength his new wings held. He truly looked like a monster. But what truly confirmed and heightened Tyler’s fear was the sound Mandrin’s stomach made; the sound of hunger.
David, above anything, wanted Kaito to be a vegetarian right now. He did not hunt so he did not know how it felt to be a predator; but he was well aware now how it feels to be the prey. He wasn’t sure if what he felt rising in his throat was bile or fear. Most likely both. He instantly regretted saying the word monster when Kait’s eyes snapped back to him. He was very mistaken. If Hoshi was a monster, Kaito was a living nightmare. Smiling and speaking in a way that showed he was rancorous and planned to do horrible things to him. David nearly fainted in relief when Raban stopped the bulldozer of a man from making him history. Maybe he still had a chance to get out of this alive!
Scott took a step back, confused and angry at the mocking laugh. What’s the use of killing him? Samual had to be joking. That scrawny, pale boy hadn’t even shifted and he thought he could take Scott on? And that look on his annoying face, that smile, made Scott want to grab that little b*****d and beat him repeatedly until no one could recognize him. Scott let out a small growl and tensed his body, as if readying to pounce. Samual may have won last time but Scott was ready this time.
Nicolas was the only one that was calm, wanting to set an example of how to behave but none paid attention; except Raban. Nick felt like he had to prove himself to the other man in hopes to survive. He hoped giving up his hold on Tenshi would abate the man that held the power to manifest at will. However, his eyes widened at Raban’s words and took a step back. No! He was not going to die here!
When the doppelgangers appeared, all the boys took a step back and turned. They were going to run for it. They witnessed the peace that came over the mixed breed creatures when seeing their girl. This was their chance.
But it was short lived.
Tyler gasped for air, not expecting Mandrin to see through the mirage so quickly. He was taken aback by the strength the youngest held who was usually so passive and gentle. Emerald eyes bulged out and nails feeble scratched at Mandrin’s hand. He wheezed, trying to breathe. His eyes pleading for the boy to have mercy on him that would never come. The green haired male had only enough time to cover his head as shards of glass rained down upon him. Tyler took a greedy deep breath of air when his throat was no longer being constricted. But his relief was cut short. He let out a howl of pain, his arms useless to him as razor sharp talons sunk into his shoulders, tearing muscles and tendons as they went up. Tyler screamed. Begging, pleading to be let go; to be let down. Groveling for his life. He was let down, but not in the way he wanted. With every unmerciful contact with the ground, Tyler got quieter. Every time the two rose up into the air, the young man moved less. Soon enough, you couldn’t even tell if the pile of flesh in Mandrin’s grasp was human or some wild animal that was brutally attacked.
While Tyler was becoming a chew toy, David was becoming close friends with the wall. He managed a small gasp as a large palm and long fingers griped his hair and head. It felt like the only way to escape this trap was to lose his head. Though, Kaito seemed too inclined to help him there. There was no time to put his hands up in hopes to soften the blows against the wall his head made or even grasp at Kaito’s hand to release him. David was barely conscious enough to hear the harsh words he so rightfully deserved. The man with the light colored eyes and hair was helpless against the monster of a man. All he could do was cry out in pain and splutter out apologies as the blood trickled from his head.
Pain. That was all he could register. From the head smashing, to the throat constricting, and to the cold and sharp knives cutting into him. All he was compliant to do was scream. He knew that he would die either from old age or working in the gang; but he never thought that his death would be so painful. If Hoshi was here, she would make Kaito stop. She would get him healed and everything would be alright. The same could go for the rest of the boys. Alas, because of their betrayal, they no longer had the right to seek help from their only saivors.
David whimpered as he was pulled by his hair, his glasses broken and some of the glass finding home in his skin. True terror shone in his eyes. He had been at death’s door a few times but never had his end looked so gruesome. Never before had he wished for being stabbed deeper and closer to his torso so that his life sustaining blood may leave quicker. “M…mer…cy…” he whispered, but he knew the answer already when he peered into the red eyes that were once blue: this word does not exist in the painful world Kaito would put him through.
Scotts’ once determine and aggressive stance faded to shock. Where had that weapon come from? The red head had dealt with knives, guns, and other weapons of the like that would be commonly found in a gang fight. A scythe, however, was out of his realm. Scott felt his heart drop as Raban’s words rang in the air. He took a step back to turn away, not wanting to face the sharp blade and its insane wielder.
A broken gasp escaped him as he felt the cold metal sink into his skin. A scream escaped Scott’s throat before it was violently stopped. Hands frantically moved to the lost body part in hopes to stop the blood gushing out. Any words that might have been said were lost in the gurgling of the blood.
Nick’s mouth opened and closed in horror as Raban completely shifted. He had to get out of here. He heard what was going on around him and knew that the boys with him had no hope to survive. The shifted siren’s sent chills down Nick’s spine and wished Raban would have mercy on him. What a foolish hope. Just as Nicholas tried to step away, the echoing snap of Raban’s fingers sealed the man’s fate. He shouted at Raban, pulling at the bars of his prison. But the shouts became screams of horror and struggle as the basin filled with irate creatures. He attempted to kick the beasts out of the cage but it only made it worse.
The once happy home that was filled with laughter and happiness was occupied with screams and terror. It was no longer the peaceful Tama Household; it was a home of pain and suffering. The two youngest died slowly and painfully, and there was no doubt the remaining would follow in similar steps.
Ryuu had left the room that held Tenshi, deciding to take his fill of her when Isao was done. He sat at his desk, relishing the fact he had his precious daughter back. What would he do first? Would he punish her some more once she healed? Perhaps he should skip the pain and sate his own lust. That would break her more than any sharp metal could. His lips curled into a cruel grin. While he’s at it, he’ll let the little ones watch if he didn’t use them to bring the dead back. He could only hope the Sarnais would be satisfied with their freedom alone. A smirk replaced his grin; confidence building in him. The Sarnais will be more than willing to turn the girls in.
He reached into one of the drawers, pulling out four folders. He opened each one, revealing a picture of each boy and extensive lettering. It was their slave profiles. Ryuu happened to have a good friend that gave him these copies. He grinned. The golden harpy would play with the youngest but that is it. It would be like saying good bye to a friend for Mandrin. The boy preferred the fruits men had; he’d be surprised if he let the fairy even hug him. The violet eyed sloth would not like the short tempered and loud dog. The blizzard would most likely ignore or kill the silent gargoyle. As for lust…Ryuu laughed. The broken toy would be terrified of him. She would rather be far from him but dare not leave him with her innocent sisters. Ryuu thought it odd the silver haired maiden would choose these four men when they did not match her family. Even if each were paired with someone other than what he listed, it would be even worse. Perhaps she chose them because they were a broken family; like hers was. Ryuu grinned darkly. What a sentimental fool. Raban wouldn’t want such a naïve and blindly optimistic child.
The demon was sure victory was in his grasp until he heard the alarms go off. He cursed under his breath. He told those idiots that the four men should be treated as guests. He turned on the TV screen and was taken aback by the carnage in the main hallway. This is wrong. This was not the work of a slave looking for its master. This was a beast out for blood; an animal destroying everything in its path in order to get to what was his. He had miscalculated. The boys saw the girls as their mates.
He grumbled under his breath and made his way over to where he left Isao. The coyote is either about to start or just finishing his fun. He opened the door and had just finished telling Isao they had to go when the door revealed onto them the katana wielding beast whose red eyes matched what he thirsted for: the blood of those who harmed what was his. Instead of staying, Ryuu crept away. Why should he care what happens to the stupid younger demon? He already got his money and it wouldn’t be too hard to find his dancer again since she is injured and cannot travel far.
He returned to his desk, his eyes opening a fraction of an inch to see that his door had been driven down. He quickly grabbed the dagger that held a bloody history and tucked it in his pocket. He knew how to fight; a weapon was just a precaution. He walked out of his office, not sparing a glance at the last minute guards he had hired. Many were just greedy humans. Promised money, immortality, or demonic powers if they did his bidding and survived. Though, he was slightly curious how these four managed to kill his more experienced demon guards. Could the guards take him, Ryuu, on? Of course not. But they were sufficient enough to keep the girls locked up. Perhaps the fear each girl possessed hindered them from escaping. No matter. He will fix this. Even if a few wings and necks had to be broken. He sincerely hoped the boys put up a better fight than the women who gave birth to his three youngest daughters. It is so painfully boring when there’s no struggle in a fight.
Ryuu picked up a sword from a fallen guard; not realizing that he wall of his lab had been torn open. The hole revealing a table of mixed potions of blood and a bottle of water with a silver tint.
The men in the room stopped, caught off guard by the sudden scream. One pulled his pants back up while the others reached for their weapons. But the screaming didn’t stop; overlapping what he was saying and unnerving the men inside. The small girl immediately recognized the voice and screamed his name back. He was here. He was coming to make the monster go away. One of the men backhanded her to silence the small girl just as they heard the first slam against the door. Orders were barked out but to hear the force of the weakest of brothers against the entry panicked the man and couldn’t assemble themselves fast enough. By the time their weapons had locked on the mass of angry feathers, their unresponsive eyes were looking at him from the ground.
When the door clattered to the ground, the damaged fairy had curled up into herself. Her bound hands pressed against her eyes to lessen the bleeding and in hopes to ease the stinging and pulsating pain. She trembled at the snarl that belonged to an animal and screamed when she heard the disturbing sounds of flesh and bone being torn away. Her stomach churned and she could feel the bile rising up to the back of her throat. It burned. The smell of the crimson blood spilled made her head spin and the lack of knowledge of what went on in her surroundings made her skin crawl. She could sense that the new being was her feathered Mandrin, but he was different. He was angry; livid. He was angrier than the time Tyler had hurt her in her room. She hoped he wouldn’t stay angry…he felt so scary…
When silence fell, Amaya’s voice was held. She trembled n her little ball, managing to choke out a few whimpers. But when the gentle coo of her name filled the air, she quickly snapped her neck up. There was no point in opening her eyes; all that would meet her was darkness. Tears still managed to escape her closed eyes, though. She could sense someone near her and the very person fall by her. Her named was called again, joined with a gentle touch at her cheek that was tender and careful. She knew that voice anywhere. Her Mandrin was back.
She ignored the scent of blood, more relieved that Mandrin was himself again. Her hands gently took hold of his wrist, as if her frail touch would keep him there. She leaned into his palm, tears falling freely from the relief that settled into her chest. She immersed herself into his voice and words and believed it whole heartedly. Her sunshine had no reason to lead her astray.
She felt his arms move around her and welcomed her new spot on his lap. Her face was hidden in his neck, letting her harpy remove her ropes and hold her. Her searching hand gently fingered his golden plumage; recognizing the feel and texture compared to before he molted. She remembered how she’d lay against him; being lulled to sleep by his heartbeat and kept warm by his soft feathers. She could almost see his gilded quills, but that was only her memories. When reality hit her, tears fell once more. She held him tightly, softly crying into his shoulder.
“Mandrin…I can’t see…he cut…he cut my eyes…are the monsters gone? Are we safe now?” she whimpered, clinging to him like a lifeline. In her world, she was in obscurity. She didn’t know what to do and was hopelessly lost. There was no up or down, left or right; just gloom. She was so beside herself that she couldn’t even draw upon the earth to serve as her eyes. But she knew one thing: Mandrin was there. Mandrin would be her eyes and make sure the wicked that haunted her would stay away. He was her golden sun; shining brightly and warmly, casting away the shadows and making her world glow. He was her happiness. “I wanna go home…I want to go back to the purple cove. I want to be happy with my Mandrin. Can things go back to how they used to be?”
~~~

Time had slowed down. The normally sharp dog demon senses were dulled and the alert mind was sluggish. How much blood had she lost? A fair amount, she concluded, from the blood pooling underneath her once warm and lightly tanned body. Now, it was as pale as the siren she had fallen for and the colors that decorated her skin were the color of his eyes, the color of Hoshi’s gargoyle skin, and some of the edges of her bruises were the lush green grass Amaya grew. At least she didn’t hurt anymore. She was delirious. She knew what was happening was bad, without a doubt, but things will be better when Samual comes. She just had to hold on for a little longer. He wouldn’t abandon her like this. She thought she heard something outside of her prison but all she could really hear was her ragged breathing and her slowing heartbeat in her ears.

There was a loud noise. Something fell. The heavy clashes against her body stopped. Nariko rolled her head to the side, glazed blue eyes falling upon the figure standing at the doorway. The light form the hallway was bright and shrouded him in a shadow; all but his eyes. His eyes were a bright red that she did not recognize. She recognized the weapon Death was known to wield and the siren that used it as well, but the heavy feeling of hatred that filled the aura was unknown to her. It nearly suffocated her and she was farthest away possible from him. His stance was that of a man prepared to create great feats of brutality instead of a relaxed and lazy posture she identified Samual for. It was certainly Samual’s scent, but it was so heavily concentrated with anger and wrath. When he gifted the group with his presence, it was clear it was Samual. But why was he so angry? Did someone in this room hurt Mandrin? She couldn’t phantom that her violet-eyed siren would be so lived as to have his eyes scarlet because of her.

Blue eyes hid behind eyelids for just a moment; just long enough for Samual to go through three of the vile men that harmed her. Nariko let out a small, almost inaudible, whine when the angered siren began screaming his horrifying song. In her vulnerable state, Nariko was worried Samual would turn and take his scythe on her. His limbs that hardly moved quickly attacked themselves to the extremities of others and his mouth that only took in the fruits of the earth was dyed with the ruby liquid of life. She knew he was a fear eater and thus just a tad warped, but she had never seen him basking in true fear.

Nariko held her breath when only two men were left. One was quickly done from the siren’s screeching and the other was writing under the force of the terror that engulfed the room. Samual almost looked like his emotions were sucked out of him. She didn’t think it was possible for him to look more terrifying before but she stood corrected. The swiftness of how he reacted when the last man moved was horrifying and what he did to him was something that the dog demon would never expect Samual to do. What had pushed Samual so much to hit such a point?

When the fear eater had finished with his last prey, his eyes landed on her. The bloody scythe was abandoned and her broken state brought him to his knees. His lack of emotion was unsettling but the young woman could do nothing about it. Though, she did find it funny in her delirium that she brought a killer to his knees, not by harming him, but because she was harmed. When brought into his bloody arms, she snuggled into his neck as he drew her into his lap. He was a bloody mess, she realized, after being pulled so close to him. She shivered once more, trying to warm up but failing.

She felt him begin to move and her blue orbs caught sight of the scenery change. She felt him suddenly stop and was about to turn her head to see what had made him hesitate in his tracks but he held her from moving. She didn’t bother to struggle and just let her fuzzy brain absorb the sound of his beating heart. When he settled down once more, her bruised hand carefully fell upon his cheek. “You know, blood isn’t a good look for you. You’re too pale; go get a tan first and then go on an enraged killing spree,” she joked weakly, her hand falling back onto her lap. ”I’m surprised you aren’t a harpy right now. You were warmer then.” Her eyes drifted close, her breathing ragged and parts of her body still tinged blue.

“You didn’t have to come. Ryuu said he was going to bring your girlfriend. The one everyone said you loved. I won’t be angry. I just want you to be happy again; even if it isn’t with me. I know you miss her; I saw her when Raban manifested your dream. I’m almost positive you thought I was her when I tried comforting you. I never thought feelings could hurt you so much. And you go off and give me hope by kissing me. I’m so painfully confused on where I stand with you,” the tired fighter said softly before revealing her blue eyes to him. Her eyes looked so sad and the smile on her lips was bittersweet.

“I want to spend more time with you. I want to get into trouble and have a good time with you. I want to hear you sing and play. I want to get to know you. I want to race and chase each other in the forest again. I want you to tease me again. I want to hold you and sleep with you again. I want to keep hearing your heart and smell your scent. I want to still stay with you,” she said weakly, her voice cracking at points. Her lips trembled as she tried to keep smiling but it simply looked like she was closer to crying. “I love you Samual,” she whimpered. She shut her eyes tightly, grasping his hand as she shook. “All I want…what I truly desire…is for you to be happy. Even if it isn’t with me. I just wished I could have healed you like you did with me.” She opened her eyes once more and gave Samual a broken smile. “I’ll support you no matter what. I’ll sacrifice and do whatever I can to make you happy.” She closed her eyes once more and leaned into the siren. “You are no longer my slave. You can go.”

Short gasps and strangled breaths echoed inside the chilly room; the men inside it waiting in anticipation. The vision of the grey eyed, bruised beauty was blurry she had never experienced and was beginning to fill with dark dots. But in the midst of her struggling, she heard a noise. She had heard that sound before. It was neither a yell nor a cry. It was a roar. A roar filled with anger and a promise to come to her. Kaito was coming.

Just as she finished her thought, she found herself falling. Before any more harm came to her already broken being, a strong embrace surrounded her and the rope around her slender and bruising neck had been disposed of. There was no warning to the rush of action save for the sound of a slam that was followed by the fall of metal. The room spun and the gargoyle felt lightheaded. She barely registered that she was set gingerly on the floor. All she knew was that the warm arms were gone and the cold floor was on her back.

She rolled her head to the side, dull stormy eyes looking up at the horrifying creature with his back towards her. His hands were adorned with the crimson paint that flowed through all that held a heartbeat. The paint had cascaded from down his arms and even his wicked clawed feet were colored with the bitter color. The contours of his face were something to fear; nightmarish. The way his pure colored plumage sharply contrasted the bloody red and how the blood dripped off his wings was terrifying. But what did this broken woman think? In her hazy mind, she worried if any of that blood was his.

The tired woman recognized the way he moved his wings, a part of her almost pitying the guards. Harpies never went easy on a challenger.

The men, on the other hand, were caught off guard. They had not heard the blaring warning for their section go off. That may have to do with the fact Kaito had slit the throat of all before they could reach the alarm. Only one had a weapon, his whip, and was going to try and attack, but he couldn’t manage to land a hit when his head became caged by Kaito’s talon clad foot. Another tried to attack with his bare hands but was acquainted with the wall. It was now their screams that bounced off the walls and resounded down the hall. But their cries were not alone. This night was surely a night of blood and pain. Bones broke like glass under the force Kaito excluded. If Kaito’s action didn’t kill them, the internal bleeding he caused would finish the job for him.

Grey eyes widened in surprise as white teeth appeared and the sharp canines store away at the gentle skin of the offender’s throat. Blood gushed everywhere; drenching the murderous harpy. Hoshi had known that Kaito was dangerous and could possibly brutal, but never had she phantom that he could be so savage. Had he lost himself completely? Would he forget who he was? Who she was?

She watched him breathe deeply as he lay to waste to the last of the men before he stood still. He turned his head towards her and Hoshi felt a sense of relief. He once more had his pale complexion and his eyes wide like a lost child or a sad puppy. His glowing white irises revealed that he was not himself but he did not view the damaged woman as a threat. She attempted to keep her breathing steady, not wanting to alarm the blood drenched harpy that she was in a much worse condition than originally viewed.

The gargoyle lightly whimpered as she was brought into Kaito’s lap, her skin raw and sensitive to all; especially her shoulder. She closed her eyes, feeling the tension slowly leave her as Kaito tended to her injuries. She felt that she could breathe with more ease and was able to move her wings a little more. She slightly opened her eyes at his grumbling, gazing into soft stare as he tended to her and moved her ever so delicately. He easily made quick work of the ropes binding her wrists and ankles, now taking rest by holding her in his arms. He did not feel defeated or weak per say; more of a weary accomplishment. Her breath hitched as she tried moving her right arm; biting back tears.

A bruised left hand came up and cupped Kaito’s jaw, her thumb gently brushing his cheek. Her eyes held that gentleness she had for Kaito, not perturbed of his odd colored eyes surrounded by black. “You came…I knew you would,” she murmured weakly, closing her eyes and releasing a gentle sigh. She moved her head to rest on his shoulder, faintly nuzzling his neck. “You know, I’m not going to kiss you until you clean your mouth. I don’t want our first kiss after being reunited taste like blood,” she lightly teased, allowing her eyes to become half-lidded. Her shoulder was killing her. But she didn’t want to bother Kaito. She carefully lifted her hand and lightly patted the top of his head. “Good boy, Kaito. I’m safe and we’re together now. Come now love; calm down. I want to hear your voice,” she cooed, wanting her mate to come back to his senses.

She went to sit up but let out a cry of pain. Her left hand quickly grasped her right shoulder as she bit her lip and tears welled in her eyes. “My shoulder…one of them broke it,” she rasped between clenched teeth. She hid her face into his neck, feeling guilty to know she would worry him with her pain. “I’ll be fine…let’s just go home…I don’t care if you don’t heal me as long as you keep holding me,” she choked out.

The alarms could be heard from a distance. There might also be the sound of gun shots and falling bodies. There were footsteps of the remaining guards but they were moving away. She could still feel the evil presence. He was still alive. When would this nightmare end? Would she ever be able to get out of her home without her guard up and fear every shadow? Could she possibly have a normal life?

“Kaito…” she softly cried, her body beginning to shake. The brave face she kept while hurt fell away to reveal her true self. Scared. Terrified. She was in an immense amount of pain. She ignored how the air was becoming stale with the scent of blood. She focused on the musky scent that could only belong to Kaito. She ignored the alarms and diverted her attention to the sound of Kaito’s hummingbird heartbeat. She didn’t have the strength to be brave anymore. “I’m sorry…that I’m not strong enough,” she softly cried. She didn’t know what to do anymore. She didn’t know what to think. She couldn’t even think about her sisters in her drained state. “YA lyublyu tebya,” she sniffed. That was all she knew for certain: that she loved Kaito and was safe now with him.

The weary mind registered that there were others in the room but could not identify if they were friend or foe. Purple streams entered her vision and she slightly turned her head to look at it better. Long ago, she thought that these tresses were beautiful. She assumed the person would understand how it hurt to be different, to not be accepted. But when the lavender locks moved, she was met with harsh orange eyes. They were the eyes of the cruel and soulless demon she feared almost as much as the man who tore her wings. She feebly tugged at her chains but all they did was weakly clank. She bowed her head, wishing the coyote demon away.

Exhausted caramel orbs drifted shut and allowed her mind to wander. She wanted blue eyes here. She wanted a particular siren and harpy mixed man with medium length dark hair that covered his eyes when wet. She wanted the man whose life would be cut too short for her liking. She wanted the being that loved to tease her and bring a red hue to her face. The man that had the twinkling lustful eyes but would never dream of pushing her out of her boundaries. He even took mediation to quiet his needy siren. Had he taken any today? She couldn’t recall. Oh dear, he might be more upset now. He seemed much more relaxed and aloof when medicated. He didn’t kill Nicholas when he tried to force himself on her and he was very medicated at the time. Would he unleash his fury if he knew she was captured? Maybe not. Perhaps if he knew what they did to her he would be more angered. But how could he know? Ryuu made sure to keep them hidden.

Oh how her heart felt heavy. Doubt and fear had a tight grip upon her that made it hard to breathe. It was either that or the heavy lacerations ever so graciously given to her by her father and Isao. Dreary eyes opened once more to come face to face with the man that claimed to take her the first time. The orbs hid once more, deciding to think of Raban instead. Is he worried about her? He said he loved her, well, indirectly. He was not the type to love just one person so this experience would be not only new to her but to him as well. She is so insecure of what they have. But the one thing she was sure of was that she adored him and there was nothing she wouldn’t do for him. Even if it meant she could no longer stay by him.

A pale hand reached out and lifted the dying woman’s chin, forcing her to look up. She slowly revealed her amber eyes to see a smirking Isao. His lips moved but she could not hear him; her mind too far away to focus. He was most likely talking about how he would bed her. Make her cry and leave her like trash. Raban wouldn’t do that. He would be very gentle with her. He’d caress her and quell any insecurity she had. He’d kiss her with tender passion and hold her if he hurt her. He would make her his priority and keep her close throughout the night even after he has had his fill of her. Or at least, that is what she had fantasized about. Was she wrong? Perhaps. But she’d rather have Raban than any other man in this life or the next.

She could sense movement going around her but let her head drop when Isao let her go. The evil aura that entered cued the arrival of the cruelest of demons: her father. She shut her eyes and willed the man away as she prayed for a miracle. If she could not be saved, at least spare her girls and let the brothers save them. If her girls were safe, she would let go of this world. She didn’t need to protect them anymore; the Sarnais were more than capable of doing that. She was only one woman; they would protect each other like a pack. They don’t need her. She was a burden. They could do better. Her sisters needed someone better. Raban deserved someone better. She could already feel herself slipping; wishing to see black feather and blue eyes once more.

In a moment of clarity, she heard movement all around her. She was then met with a voice she knew, but it was not the familiar relaxed tone or worried attitude she was used to. It was like he was a completely different person. Where was his loving singing voice?

With whatever was left of her strength, Tenshi rolled her head to the side and fluttered her eyes open. What met her shocked gaze was carnage. Men laid dead and blood had become the carpet. Her stare flickered up to look at the man she loved and at the other man whom she feared. She watched Raban with a transfixed gaze slowly approach the cruel man. If only the myth of the raven worked; except Isao didn’t have a soul. But the coyote was quickly dealt with. All Isao had been was his family name and strength; not even a challenge for the shifted siren. Though Tenshi briefly wondered where Isao would go to. Hell seemed too good for him.

“Raban…you came…I’m so happy…” Tenshi wasn’t sure if Raban understood the jumble of words she managed but she hoped it reassured him she was awake, for now. As the shackles were removed, she felt like dead weight. She knew she didn’t weigh much but she didn’t think she could ever feel like 10 tons. She could relate to a puppet; unable to move and completely at the will of the person holding her.

The woman heaved a sigh of relief when her tired ears picked up the words of Raban’s coo. It was the voice of her Raban. It was the voice that spoke to her kindly and would do her no harm. She pressed her face against his neck, ignoring the blood that marred him. As long as it wasn’t his blood, she was fine. Despite her unstable state, Tenshi would feel immensely guilty if she came to learn that the nature of her Raban’s injuries occurred in his attempt to save her.

“Raban…it’s okay…it’s okay,” she murmured. “It’s not your fault…you did your best…” She spoke weakly; as if she was saying goodbye. “I free you…you are no longer…my slave. You don’t have to…try so hard. You’re done…more for me…than any others…combined. With you…I was finally…happy…safe…warm…thank you. I wished…I could have…done something…for you…” she whispered faintly, one bloody hand reaching up to touch his cheek. “I…love…you…”

Tenshi knew the odds. She was bleeding like a river. Her healing was too slow. She probably had an infection in some of her wounds. She’d be surprised if she made it to the exit. Her hand became limp and she began to feel cold. She was losing too much blood. Her eyesight was dimming; the edges were becoming black and the surroundings were blurry. But the center was clear. She could clearly see her Raban; his black hair and the strain his face expressed. His eyes were red though. That made her sad. “I want…to hear…you sing…I want…to see…you…blue eyes,” she mumbled, but it sounded more of a slur.

She should be happy. She wasn’t going to hurt anymore. She’ll be far away to a place where Ryuu wouldn’t hurt her anymore. If she went to heaven, she’ll be with her mother again. But…she wouldn’t be with Raban. But he deserved better. He was strong, brave, loyal. Handsome, soothing, and kind. He was wonderful; it wouldn’t be hard for him to find a worthy female. He had already done so much for her; she shouldn’t be so selfish and keep him with her. He would be happy without her, right?

~~~
Ryuu stood in a languid manner as he waited for the rest of his men to come out of the hideout. One hand was placed carefully over where his dagger and sword laid on his hip. He didn’t care much for the men littering the floor; he just cared for the girls. Namely Tenshi. She had made a fool of him for the last time. His midnight black eyes moved over to one of his men as they handed him a microphone. With a grin, he took a hold of the device and began to speak. “Boys. I don’t appreciate you four breaking into my place and making a mess. And you killed my guards. We were going to welcome you with spirits. But it seems you’re more interested in the girls. Oh well,” he lamented, his tone relaxed and uncaring. But his lips twitched into a smirk as he continued. “Too bad they might not make it. Amaya was cut with a rusty blade. Not only may she be blind, she could die from Tetanus. Nariko may have some broken bones and heavy internal bleeding. I don’t think her demon blood can heal that. Hoshi might be fine; if she doesn’t get an infection and doesn’t need her right arm. And poor little Tenshi,” he cooed at the end, his tone sickeningly sweet and fake, “She doesn’t look too good, does she Raban? Even with her dirty blood, she won’t make it even to the forest. I think Wrath tore the wall that hid my lab. Some of her tears are there. I’d recommend giving it to Tenshi; the other girls have at least another three hours before things really turn bad. How about you all come out and we can talk? I don’t bite that hard,” he cooed.
~~~

Tenshi trembled, not wanting to hear that voice. The voice that made her fear the dark. That haunted her nightmares that she only recently managed to lessen when she slept in Raban’s arms. This voice echoed throughout the hideout, causing all the girls to quake in the arms of their beloved, silently pleading for their protectors to get them away from the place that had created such dark memories.

Ryuu was so horribly cruel. He did not care for any of these people; just himself. He sought to sate his own pleasures and satisfaction. And he greatly enjoyed playing with his daughters he viewed more as toys. Especially Tenshi. She had such will when she was first brought; so much fire. It was fun physically and emotionally tormenting her; touching her in ways that made her break into tears, toying with her psyche that drove her to the edge of insanity.

She was his favorite toy. And just when he thought he would shatter her, he brought three new girls. He didn’t think it would matter that the new additions were Tenshi’s half-sisters, but it did to Tenshi. And that stubborn woman came to life again. She fought even harder to protect the children and even defied him. This infuriated yet intrigued Ryuu. But no matter; he’d break her like he almost did the last time. However, this time when he damaged her, the woman seemed resigned. Her spirit was not broken this time he harmed her; she seemed to come to terms with her situation. She cried and bled like she always did; but her eyes were calm. It was not the calm of an individual accepting death; it was a calm someone had when they have attained what their heart desired and bore the hardship that fell upon them. This angered Ryuu in a way he couldn’t explain. Oh well. He wouldn’t want to dwell on it for long.

The man tilted his head to the side and grinned as he saw his men create a circle around him and the entrance of the base. He really did hope the boys were willing to play with him. The Sarnais didn’t have a choice. There was only one way out of this lair and he was waiting patiently for them. Oh how he loved games; especially if he had toys like his dagger to play with. The dagger that tore away at Tenshi’s once beautiful and pure white wings. The scars on her back were proof.
