Lady Bastet

PostPosted: Tue Sep 21, 2004 9:19 pm

Bastet thought a moment, "Only a handful loved you guys? Why do I find that hard to believe? Anyway, There seems to be quite a few I have not met yet." she sighed and stood up, "Well, I am going to go Clipsy," She grinned, "I can not find Kepi or Rasui, maybe I will have Aura shrink you later so you can find them." Then she walked off to her room.

"Your home now... if the owners felt they could entrust it to you two, then I dont see how it matters. I imagine that few are ever accepted by everyone. But value those who do stand by you. They do care about you and Aurah, they even come back to this life to make sure you are safe."

"Oh yes, ha ha, laugh at the winged wolf because he gets shrunk and can't do a thing about it." He snorted after her then went into thinking. He shared Aurahkah's powers right? He already knew he couldn't reverse that spell himself, yes he had tried that. But would the same spell work on the Egyptian? He would of smirked if he could have. He then looked to Saradin and spoke in a low tone, more of to himself really. "Only the handful loved us because the rest were jealous of us..." He laid his sore head on the floor and let his wings slack as he relaxed in front of the fire, closing his eyes. "Get some rest Saradin. Tomorrow I'll get Soulforge back to you."

Through the woods splashed by the sudden downpour two figures stagger towards the only shelter they can find, and old stone building in the middle of nowhere. The one leading ahead held an umbrella over her head, more focused on the case she carried dry than herself. And the second trudged slowly, soaked by the rain and his feet sinking into the layers of mud due to the weight he dragged along in the form of a huge case as large as himself.
The gates parted open slowly in front of Kira as she traced the stone path leading up to the large doors, followed by her companion. At the door, she spotted the engraving and touched it following the etchwork wings. Her umbrella was put away because she was under the overhang of the front doors and she turned to the taller young man. "Johnny, what do you think?"
"This place is steeped in spirits, magic, and ancient powers arcane and mystical."
"Most hidden mansions out in the woods are these days."
"Funny. But this place is strange. Despite all the danger I can feel around it the building itself feels safe. Like something is protecting this place."
"Then you probably hate it here."
"Very much so. It puts me even further out of place."
"Nothing we can do about that. I guess we go inside." Before a reply was issued, Kira shoved the doors open and head inside.
"No respect for this place at all." Following her lead, Johnavon clunked inside with their bagage.

The shadow that trecked the manor in an unending paranoia was drawn inexorably to the sound of life coming from the foyer. Saradin watched from the hallway, expecting to see himself standing there doing something. But that delusion went up in smoke the moment he looked onto them. Two newcomers had wandered in, probably seeking shelter from the weather. The tensity of his situation put him against revealing himself immediately, instead watching as they approached the map of the manor.

Kira walked into the building admiring the stonework all around her. Her attention focused down onto a paper map encased in glass marking off the hallways and rooms. "This place is pretty big." Standing in the center of the room, Johnavon listened quietly. "Johnny, did you hear..."
"Be quiet."
"Well excuse me."
"There's someone watching." His eyes shot open and he was looking at Saradin as if he could see him through the wall that he was hidden by. "Looks like they beat us here."
"Really? But those things follow us, not go ahead. Maybe it's something else."
"It feels a bit different yes, but its still close."

"Before this goes any further, I should introduce myself." Saradin stepped into view, vaguely agitated that Soulforge wasn't with him to use against anything that he faced, even if they werent dangerous. "I am a resident of this house. My name is Saradin." In a sweep of his arms, exposing the empty sword sheath by his side, he bowed moderately to them both. "I've been here for months, and I certainly have no clue who you are."

Kira was the only one in the room who still looked confused changing between this 'Saradin' and her Johnavon visibly asking what he thought of the situation. He on the other hand was still unsure of how to handle the man who tried to act receptive but still reeked of something unnatural. "What are you? You don't feel like a demon, or spirit, but theres something disturbing about you." His voice was flat his body tense and his eyes unflinching not able to trust so easily after his experience.

Not many unversed in knowledge of darker things could recognize that there was something amiss about him, in the past it had always been chalked up to his particuar past and powers, but now he freely spread the truth. "I am a shade. Pure elemental darkness spawned into the shape of a man who once lived." The hint of sorrow he held as he revealed himself stayed with him for a few more minutes of their conversation, old guilt still stinging in the back of his mind. He'd never be free of that. "But I've introduced myself, now who are you?"

"The shape of a man who once lived?" Johnavon needed to know what that meant and didnt care to introduce himself to a potential enemy. But Kira had other plans when she carelessly marched between the two and smiled at Saradin.
"We are just a couple of college kids. Or were rather since we started out on the road."
"Kira?"
She turned to him and reassured him with a smile. "You said yourself that this place felt safe. That hasn't changed has it?"
"No but-"
"Then theres nothing wrong is there?" She turned again and faced Saradin smile still stuck on her face. "I'm Kira Deidre, and this is my boyfriend Johnavon Luther."

"Pleased to meet you miss. But you have to tell me, how is it that you recognized what I am? There's more to you than what you say if he could so easily identify my nature." Indeed, they had to be hiding something, the way Johnavon was so suspicious of him. "And yes, one who once lived. The original died by my own hands. That being part of the most regrettable act in my existance, and yet I'd never lived at all had it not happened."

Kiras smile shattered with the arrival of Saradins story. "Youve killed- youre a murderer?" Though she was a bit aback by the news she was more shocked than frightened.
Like a beast broken from its restraints Johnovan leapt forward and placed himself between Kira and Saradin. His clothes rattled loudly as he jumped into the gap but the only visible sign of such was the small cross hanging off a chain on his neck. "I knew it. What do you want?"

Illustrating again that he had no weapons, Saradin raised his hands in a peaceful gesture. "I'm here to make sure that you understand the basics of the manor, if you're going to be staying here. You'll find that few of us here are without some dark history, which I suspect you can understand. I don't know why, but the manor draws in these people in these storms." The thunder outside roared as if in response to his mentioning it, flashing the room white with a burst of light.

Johnavon growled as his only retort to Saradin and held his defensive posture. But softened when Kira put her hand on his shoulder. "Johnny, calm down. He's being forward about everything and he's right we do understand."
Johnavon turned to meet Kira eye to eye and spoke with her privately. "Yes, but you dont plan to go and tell him just like that do you?"
"No we cant. I wouldnt do that to you."
"Thank you Kira."
"Now- Saradin. What do you mean about basics? We dont plan to stay long, we just wanted out of the rain."

"Neither did I at first. I came in to escape the rain for a couple hours. But its been months since I came to call this place home. Whatever you are traveling for, you will find acceptance here. So long as you can abide the oddities of us all." Now that friendly relations were established, Saradin began to pace down the central hall, beckoning them to follow him into the great hall. "The owner, Lady Aurahkah, has left this place open to us all freely. We are allowed to use any of the rooms in the building that arent occupied."
