@ hypnocrown: I think the locked threads don't need their own
forum. Can't they just go in the archives as well? xP

@ fushou: Most guilds I've seen do have banners that were
"officially" made for the guild, but they also accept banners
that users would like to contribute, as their way of helping out.
I don't see why regular user-made banners can't be put in
a thread with more "official" guild banners. Keeping them
apart, in my opinion, is just another pile of elitist bullshit.

Who cares who made the banner, as long as someone likes it
enough to use it?

@Ariadyne: I don't think I've said anywhere we shouldn't accept any forum member made banners. I see no problem with members making their own banners, I've done guild banners for myself and figure will continue doing if I don't like the banners that are provided. I just don't find it right to create a sub-forum for banners when there's a fan art sub-forum.

If a guild banner thread is made, then I suggest that the thread should be stickied and locked or left for only mods to post under. If the thread is left unlocked or open for any member to post, the thread will stretch into a long thread mixed with banner posts and positive/negative comments on certain banners and so on, which I find pretty much unnecessary.

I figure the process of getting a banner posted in the Guild Banner sticky would be the following:

Member creates banner and PMs to Mod
Mod posts banner and gives credit to the specific member
If the member desires feedback on the banner, then the banner can be posted on the fan art sub-forum.

Leaving the guild banner suggestions aside, I'll move on to the fan art sub-forum. I don't agree with members who want to post a piece of art having to post it in the fan art sticky. We now have a sub-forum dedicated to fan art, members shouldn't be forced to post in a fan art sticky, it defeats the purpose of having a fan art sub-forum.

I am aware that you didn't say user-made banners shouldn't
be accepted. I was refering to your comment that they
should be kept seperate from officially-made banners, by
being posted in the fanworks subforum instead. Which, like
I said, is elitism.

PMing banners to a mod is a good way to keep the sticky
clutter-free, but that may turn out to be more hassle than
it's worth. I think a better idea would include keeping the
thread open, but the first few post or two is where a mod
would put the banners. Submitting would still take place
in that thread then, so that everything for banners is kept in
one place, and people wouldn't have to go through pages
and pages of feedback, because all the banners are in the
first post or two. [Post one: official, Post two: submitted?]

Alternatively, the thread IS locked, but there is another
thread, similar to this one, for ALL user-made submissions
[not just banners, but well...anything a user wishes to
contribute] that the mods can go through and then add
what they find to their respective places.

I do agree with your fanart suggestion. I figured that the
sticky would be moved to the archives when they made
the forum. ):

That'd be good. Either a thread or sub-forum for banners. Oh and, I have a suggestion also. How about a sub-forum for closed/locked threads? I see there are quite a few of them so... Maybe there should also be a sub-forum for not so active but not entirely forgotten threads. neutral

That's what archives is for, all locked threads or old unused but memorable threads go there and people are more than welcome to make their own guild banners, as for organization of this. I am not so sure about, I'll see what's the best way everyone can get their own banners yet not make so many threads rofl

I see... Thanx for letting me know! Oh and Jin, have you seen pages 3, 4, 5 and so on, of the main forum? I've been trying to move the inactive threads to the archives lately. 3nodding

I'll be posting this information to Jin personally, but it's an idea created by one of the members of my guild (mine's recently been completely refurbished).

The idea is a "Guild Ring", which is basically the same as a web ring. Anyone wanting to be involved in it can join, but they need to be willing to be active. You should join at least a few of the guilds participating in the guild ring, and be as regular a poster as you can be.

The purpose of it is to draw attention to everyone's guilds, but not to lure anyone away from the ones they're already in. Gaia doesn't have a feature that works well to publicise guilds, so I reckon this could be a good idea.

The idea has been carried out now. This is good so both our guilds get a bit more publicity and attract more members 3nodding

Maybe going out and seeking more users in the Anime or Videogame forums? I'm not sure if that would be, like, a raid or something...

I rather not, here's why, first off yes it'd be a raid in a way, as well as its against the rules to advertise guilds in regular forums, some people really don't like advertising of guilds in the general forums and will bother the hell out of you if you do (example 4chan), and DON'T try advertising at the chatterbox, then we then get jerks from there ಠ_ಠ and we don't want that, we are fine right now we're getting like at least 1-3 people a week mrgreen Best way to advertise is just have a link in the sig, its not in the way, and we all win rofl Besides we've been doing good lately right? xd

Yeah, and I think I'd get lost with too many members...

we could always deal with more but right now its nice, we're not dying out and we're all having a few controlled conversations (no backtracking to previous pages to keep up with the topic/conversation at the moment) 3nodding

Some posting in Off Topic forum might help get things rolling. Like a guild about anything in specific, needs a good off-topic thread/subforum to just talk about anything 3nodding
