Imagine The X-Files if it took place in Tokyo, Scully was both rich and "the believer", while Mulder was the exasperated sidekick looking for the logical explanation. Toss in the standard supernatural cases, battle maids, work rivals, and a few other spoilerish things, and BAM! this is your show.

Red Scully Hell MoneyThis is a solid episode I just have never really dug for whatever reason, but this time around I rather enjoyed it. Michael Yama, James Hong, and Lucy Liu are great supporting cast (although Yama is Japanese...) and the plot is interesting both in the final product and how it was made. Three unfinished scripts where mashed together in a attempt to reuse the expensive Hong Kong set created for Piper Maru. Gotta make use of your budget! It is fun, it is funny, it is true to the series while it makes fun of the series, and for all it's goofiness it has much to say about subjectivity, perception, recollection, and the power of words. Absolutely one of my favorite episodes of anything ever; with a insane amount of in-jokes and science fiction references, crack, and Lord Kinbote I don't know how it couldn't be. On that note, Morgan's script for Millennium titled "Jose Chung's Doomsday Defense" is on par if not superior to the one he crafted for TXF, although also more ******** up, and is another one of my absolute favorite episodes of anything ever. Detective Manners is named after XF producer/director/writer Kim Manners who was known for having a massive potty mouth. whee

Great Tattooist Oni That's hilarious. Parts of Vancouver and the outlying suburbs look just like all the sets in the episode. Hell, there's a season two episode of Fringe that uses the parts of Vancouver that look like Shanghai or something. xd

Kaddish
This episode is pretty meh when following "Memento Mori", but I don't think it is bad. Actually I find the premise interesting and the execution of the episode very good; it is rather pretty in that gloomy sort of way.

MEH. Don't hate, don't love the episode. Not a fan of the MOTW or the opening sequence (90sTVCGICROWDSWUTLOL), but I do love Skinner so bonus points are given. Too bad those same points are taken away by the super awesome bad supporting cast. Especially the general shot in the face in his car.
Tempus Fugit and Max
The return/non-return of Max! These two episodes are a combination of "THIS IS AWESOME" and then "LOL, WUT?" for me. I feel as far as mytharc two parters go these are a little off. Everything just moves a wee bit odd, details feel ignored as far as plot further meant goes, and I dunno. They always leave me feeling kind of befuddled for whatever reason. Not Spotniz and Carters best writing in my opinion, although the last half of "Max" I am a fan of.

Synchrony
Holy s**t I hate this episode. Uuuuuuuuuuuunnnnngggg.
Small Potatoes
There are many things wrong with this episode. But I choose to ignore them like everyone else for the lulz. Vince Gilligan's script is not as cracky as Darin Morgan's (who plays Eddie Van Blundht in this episode) would have been, but it is still peppered with teh crazy.

Zero Sum
The before title teaser in this episode is very whatevers, until you get to Skinner. Then I remember perking up and from there on the episode doesn't let up. I always enjoy Skinner-centeric/Skinner heavy episodes because I love the character, and in particular his struggle with the syndicate and CSM (and Krycheck). I always joke and say Skinner tries to help out the X-Files as much as he does because he luvs Scully; but the reality is that in the times he cannot resist the demands of shadowy men he places all his eggs in the basement office basket. Keeping Scully alive keeps Mulder on track, making deals keeps direct conflict away from the duo (most of the time), and so on. The tragedy of Skinner is that he wants to help so badly, he wants justice just as much as Mulder, but he was compromised by the first time we saw him on screen. And he never really gets to throw off his shackles, although he does have his moments. Skin-man! crying

Elegy
This is a severely underrated episode in my opinion. I think a part of it is that it comes before "Demons" which is a much stronger Mulder-centric episode than this more subtle Scully-centeric one. I like the simplicity of the Harbingers of death, the quietness. I could easily see smoke, close ups, more pronounced BUMBUMBUUUUM when they appear but I enjoy that that isn't what happens. The stillness reflects better upon the tied in notion that only those who are dying can see them - or at least I think it does.
I have to give props to John Shiban's script, partially because I really do enjoy it and partially because I always give the guy s**t in these here viewing notes and I want to make clear that I don't dislike him. Hell, if I worked on this show I'd probably be pumping out scripts similar to the ones he does. Killer cats just sound so good on paper! Shiban's style of never leaning too dark and never leaning too light and leaving interpretation up to the viewer is also probably how I'd navigate the XF landscape as well.

Demons
This episode I enjoy and then at the same time it makes me go "Whaaaaaaaat?" - primarily because ketamine lasts like only 30 minutes tops. So Mulder loosing 2 days never really gets explained to me, but like with most things I accept the story because it is a interesting one. How entirely accurate the flashbacks are is up to YOU.

Gethsemane
I'm a fan of "Gethsemane" and the "Redux" two parter, but I don't recall them being HUGELY popular mytharc episodes (although for Shippers it is like LOLWHOAAA). I like how Mulder is calm about seeing the alien body and how still and silent he is throughout the autopsy. Season One Mulder would have literally hyperventilated and then passed out.
This is a episode whose title I feel expresses the overall theme of the episode (which indeed carries over into the next two) more directly then others. Scully's Gethsemane is obviously easier to pinpoint as she deals with her morality; While Mulder's Gethsemane is facing the doubt in his ideals and beliefs as seeded in "Herrenvolk". This binary opposition of the characters always gets me in these episodes. Mulder's willingness to believe in little more then his own hope, completely absent of faith – mean while Scully believes and relies on absolute science, adjacent to faith. Belief in science; belief in hope; they're the same thing for these two, and they both want the same thing. And I think that is a common misconception about TXF. Of course it is "one is a believer the other a skeptic", but Scully isn't trying to prove Mulder wrong all the time – she is trying to prove him right. Mulder knows what he sees but he isn't always convinced. And the "skeptic" and "believer" labels are pulled, stuck, ripped, and reassigned on a whim.
What is so interesting is that all the mythology, all the crazy up to this point was such a fluid process the writers and CC didn't know they'd end up with such malleable (although seemingly set it stone) characters.

Unusual Suspects
Weirdest. Crossover. Ever. But enjoyable! This little origin story always makes me happy – and when I first saw it I never thought it'd have a sequel. Now I can't unsee it. Which is totally OK by me!
And if I ever want to conduct random tests on a unsuspecting public, I'll be damned if inhalers isn't how I'll do it. BWAHA, even now every once in a while I look over at my inhalers and think "Maybe that is why I'm so damn paranoid..." xd

Detour
I've always just really liked this episode. It is a combination of being light with it's script and then being actually pretty creepy. I enjoy the casualness of it due to the Agents technically being off duty throughout the entire thing, and I like seeing Mulder and Scully interact in comparison with Kinsley and Stonecypher. HEH, plus the midnight forest talk and Scully-Karaoke is like the best thing ever. The ending is fun too; is it in the dark corner?! The closet?! No! Of course it is under the bed!
