She waved her hand and the door slightly opened. She had her head in her hands and her knees pulled against her.

((lol. yea. mwahaha....))
"There's only one guest key missing other than ours and Cyric's, and the lock should be easy enough to pick." "I'll mix a sleeping potion, he's probably in the room now." "He is. And guess what, he's an angel! How humiliating this'll be for him if we pull this off!" "We will pull it off. Always do." "Except for the one time..." "That was Saro's fault, and that was actually intentional." "Good point. Anyway, what'll we do?..."
They were outside his door now, and Rose squeezed a spray bottle at the door, the sound silent. The vapor, a sleeping potion, seeped under the door and into the room. Kari then picked the lock, and Emmett opened the door and went in first.

He stood. "CRETENS!" he said in a voice amplified by holy power, pointing directly at each of them in turn. "CRIMINALS, LIARS, MURDERERS, AND FOOLS TO BOOT. YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT BEINGS OF THE UPPER PLANE ARE NOT TOUCHED BY YOUR POISONS. THIS IS MY HOME." Suddenly there was a blinding flash of holy light, and their powers of transformation, and all magic in fact, was shut off. Their bodies were weakened, and they became uncoordinated, unskilled. The effect was temporary, and would wear off after awhile if they left his room. He, on the other hand, became far more powerful at the declaration of this as his 'home'. If they dared take another step in, they would be in for a beating. ((This is his 'home' spell. It only works in a place he calls home, so it'll go away when he gives Saro the key back. The effect and the light is confined to his room and a few feet radius outside in the hallway. The weakening effect is similarly applied to anyone and everyone with a black heart and intent of harm to him; those who are good, no matter what their intentions, are strengthened like Ikaran is. Also, casting this spell and using his voice like that drains him. A LOT.))

Marin heard this below her, but didn't move.

He came in and shut the door behind him. "I'm sorry, okay? I'm used to listening to Saro, I've been doing it for the last eighteen years." he sat down beside her, hesitantly. "It wasn't pity, and I've been searching her memory for anything about you. I, want to know you." he tried to explain.

"You can just ask." She said, still cradling her head.

They stumbled from the room, going back to Emmett's room, they thought.
Saro hid a smile, knowing she should find this upsetting. She went up to the angel's room, composing herself before she rapped the doorframe with her knuckles. "Are you okay?" she asked calmly.
"Yes, but it's kind of hard when you weren't able to talk to me without giggling." he pointed out.

"Obviously I'm not giggling now." She said. She was thinking Why was Emmett looking at me?

He opened the door for her, the magic (which was no longer visible but still effective) would have the exact opposite of the effect on intruders because she was marked as both 'guest' and 'true owner'. "I'm...a little drained, to be honest." he said. "It's been a little while since I had to use a Home spell, but I think it's worth it."

"Honestly, It was worth it. I doubt they'll try anything like that again." she said with a smile.
"I'm not telling you that. You'll be more scared than we could handle." he said bluntly, having read her mind directly.

He smiled slightly, walking backwards till he half-fell to sitting on his bed. "At least for a little while. Some peace is nice...I think I know who he is now." The ending sentence was a completely different conversation, the original one having finished.

"Tell me, I have a right to know. That creep scares me...am I his next target?" Marin asked, meaning I'll-cancel-the-date-again. We can't even have it here...

"The one you're having avoid me. He's technically, or would be, the High Acolyte. What you'd call a Prince, I think."

"He was acting strangly earlier..." she said as an excuse, though she knew it wasn't very good.
"He's not just a killer. He's.... worse...." he trailed off, not going to say it. "And that's partially for Saro's peace of mind. She knows you'll be safe with me, and doesn't exactly want us here tonight with the traders unless we're working." he added with a laugh.
