I can't help but be bothered by one incident that happened to me about four years ago. I wasn't quite thirteen yet and I was at a family gathering. I don't remember how it started, but I mentioned to my mother that I didn't want children. Then, a woman whom I've never met, says, "You'll change your mind some day. I did."

What bothers me most about that situation is that she just jumped right into the conversation I was having with my mother and flat out told me that I was wrong. I respect the choice that people make to have children, which is why I never tell someone who has just mentioned their kids that they are going to change their mind. It's rude and insulting to tell someone with children or someone who is pregnant that they're going to change their mind, so why is it any different to say it to someone who doesn't want children?
Because at the time you wer 13 and anyone under the age of 35 without children is a ******** moron by society's standards.

That's very true, but I've seen statements from women who are in their thirties and forties that are still getting told that it's never too late to have children because of the advances in science, so it happens to people even older than that. confused

Stupid advances in fertility..... why don't we turn that energy towards something useful.... you know figuring out how to kill viruses or making anti-cancer medicences...... but what do we do? We say "Oh people need to have babies"

Where did my text go? Well fill in the blanks.

I don't see why we put so much effort into making babies? Why not put the effort in to keeping the population we have alive? I mean just because a couple was smart and decided to wait til they could support another life before they made one....? What is so unappealing about adoption again?

Women having children in their 40s have a high risk of having a child with birth defects. Zomg, they haven't fixed that yet. D: But gee golly, they can test the sprog to see if they're ******** up and from there the woman can chose to abort or not. Too bad I can't remember what disorder's at the highest risk... *sigh* Stupid crap memory...

Yah, that's sure some advance in science. lol

I haven't gone skaing in years. o.o I learned on an outdoor rink that was near my home. There were usually people playing hockey in the middle. But then when I moved to an indoor rink there were separate rinks for figure skating and hockey/just going in circles. I always had my own skates but they were second hand.

I'm in a bit of a dilemma here. I don't want to stretch the page out to ungainly proportions, so I'll just point you to my latest journal entry. Advise as to which to choose would be appreciated. neutral

well, this is odd, cool, bad, and somehow I kind of had a feeling it would come to this from the beggining. In fourth period today I found out a friend of mine on my bowling team (there's only 4 people on a team) is our graduating class's valdictorain. 7th period today I found out my best friend is saludictorian (and she was trying not to be valdictorian so she wouldn't have to give a speeach whee ). all my friends are the smartest people. I really know how to surround myself with the right crowd to make myself look as bad as possable, that I do. gonk It's cool they got this and all, really it is, but man do I look like an idiot next to them. sweatdrop Darn algebra!
Well, they're both giving speaches- which i'd like to hear- so now I can't skip out on graduation like I wanted to crying I really didn't want to go to graduation.
also, as half the English final exam in our school for seniors, it's mandatory that EVERYBODY writes a valdictory speach and present it. Now, I'd been looking forward to this, I thought I could sure do this well and have fun with it -- i've got plenty to say, like writing, and like public speaking too- BUT they killed my fun. It's mandatory that all the speaches be "positive". What injustice is this? What if you really didn't find highschool positive? There were so many things I wanted to talk about so hopefully they'd be fixed, but instead the idea of our school is "pretend everything is great even if it isn't" so nothing ever gets fixed because nobody will admit anything is wrong. stressed

I find it irritating when people automatically assume that I somehow harbor a hatred for children simply because I want none of my own. I have nothing against children. The fact of the matter is that I simply do not want any of my own, mainly due to the fact that I believe that I would not be a responsible parent, and because I just don't want the responsibility. It's my own decision to make. If you don't like it, I don't care. That's just how it is.

I get the same thing, though I actually do dislike children. But all the same, people act like that fact alone somehow makes me a horrible person. Nevermind that I always try to be nice to people, nevermind that I'm always there to help my friends when I can. "You don't like kids? OMG, you monster!"

Question: what is wrong with not likeing kids on top of not wanting your own?

I don't like children, but it doesn't bother me if people get on my case about it until they think I'm going to hurt kids. If I don't like being around children then why would I actively go out and search for them to kick them or something? stare I wish they'd realize that I don't like violence (unless it's fake, like in a movie or video game) and that I'd never harm another human no matter who that human is.

Oh, and I just remembered this one. I can't stand those commercials with the babies that have adult voiceovers. They've always bothered me for some reason.

That is weird... I never got it confused people just take choices you make the wrong way. I said I dislike children not abhor them.... I also hate when they are like "What about when you have kids of your own?" YES I have been asked this right after expressing my dislike of kids. I seriously believe that breeders give up part of their brain when they have kids.

OMG asdlfjkasdfhsgljsdfjsf!!! Yes. I hate those Pampers commercials with a passion. They make me leave the room.

What person in their right mind thinks they're cute?

Hmm, maybe when breeders breed they pass a portion of their intelligence off to their offspring so they have something to start with. Of course, that intelligence could be defective, and thus why kids are just as stupid as their parents. Unfortunately, the parents could also give away all their good bits and be left with the bad ones.

The people who think that kind of thing is cute are the same people who think babies are cute..... why else would they do it?
