The other stayed out of this part of conversation, deciding he had no part with it at the moment.

Kana just smiled and turned again, continuing on her path. She would travel with them, but she wouldn't wait for them. She resumed humming the song she had been humming earlier.

They both kept up with relative ease, although their previous easygoing pace had been nowhere near her intent speed. Neither one seemed to complain, although the merman was perspirating generously.
((Summoning forth some monsters soon to give them something to do...))

All of a sudden Kana stopped dead in the middle of the path she was on. She held up her hand for quiet. SHe had heard something. her pointed ears twitched slightly.

Xin-Kain had already stopped talking, but the merman was still jabbering about something or other. He put his hand on his mouth, to which there was only a couple of seconds of protest before he could lower it again and it stayed quiet.

"Do you hear that?" she whispered almost inaudibly. The sound that had made her stop could be heard again.

The merman shook his head, still having no idea what the other two were so concerned about. Apparently both of them had far better hearing than he did.

Kana looked around. Then she took a step in the opposite direction from where the sound was coming from, motioning for the two to follow her.

There was a brief noise, something like shink, when Xin-Kain drew out his claws. They were about seven and a half inches long, sharp, and hard. He bared his teeth at well, but made no other noise.
Aldrin drew one of the stone bottles, the one with the most in it, and held it in both hands. He rolled his eyes at the way the other acted, silently saying, "show-off".

"What are you two doing?" Kana asked quietly, giving them odd looks. She never fought unless she had to. That usually resulted in her sustaining a few more injuries than necessary, but she didn't care. Her pacifist self would not allow her to attack first.
