Zero_2005 In EMS, first thing we do for anyone we THINK is overheating is throw some ice under their arm pits and give them as much water as they can take. as for dehydration....you may not like water, but your body needs water all the same...just force yourself to grab a class of water ensted of that soda or whatever. just plain old water is the best. as for the headakes, take some pain killers.... IBproufen i don't recomend because of it's adverse effects with other possible chemicals/herbs/whatever you might have taken. i only use it if my knee is doing the whole pain and blacking out thing... just take some more basic pain killers. EMS? There's something more basic than IBproufen? I thought it was just straight med, like bayer aspirin.

EMS: Emegency Medical Services the thing you activate when you call 911
i'm an EMT razz (Emegency Medical Tech if you don't know that...) but i like being an EMT moreso than beinga doctor....EMT, we focus on only keeping the person alive, ensted of seeing how many drugs and how much time we can milk out of them to get more pay.
asprian and that other purpolar painkiller i can spell right now work also, without the risk of having adverse reactions...
but it works wonders....which is why i am careful about the pills i take... in fact, i think the last medicine i took was a few weeks ago when my knee decided to go evil.

If you have any willow trees near you, scrape away some of the bark, and make a tea of the inner bark. It tastes HORRIBLE, but works as both a pain reliever and an anti-inflamatory.

Ibuprofen/motrin is evil! twisted If I got a serious cut after taking ibuprofin for a few days I could bleed to death. Plus if I'm not careful how I take it I'll puke. *starts a campaign against ibuprofen*

Zero_2005 again, that is why i don't recomend it...and why i don't use it enless it's unbearible... I like ibproufen. I'm not sure why, but I know that it's the ultimate painkiller for my body. Aspirin and me, we don't mix well for some reason, but I know Advil and Motrin hate me with a fiery passion. I tend to use off-brand ib, and it works great in times when I just can't handle the pain anymore.
(And you can buy willow-bark at any store that sells herbs... I don't recommend getting your own, just because you can kill the tree if you do it wrong, and you can also get the wrong willow tree and poison yourself. Never collect your own herbs unless you -know- what you're picking and how to pick it.)
And Zero, I know what EMS and an EMT are, I was just surprised. I didn't know you were a professional! ^-^ (*has a deep and abiding respect for all EMT's, especially since her accident.)

I can't wait untill i move in with my friend alexis. Her family is way more healthy than Kat and hers. Alexis and them like drink tea and eat veggies and have juice in the house and stuff." whee

Yeah, drinking lots of water throughout the month and eating healthy food goes a long way towards easing feminine problems. Excersizing helps too. I don't know why. I always kind of thought of it as the hormones and stuff being what makes it suck so bad so if you drink water and excersize and stuff it flushes out the extra hormones instead of letting them gather up. Does that make sense?

Very few herbal medicines will, which is why they, in the long run, are better. There's not an excess of chemicals in your system. What willow bark will do (by the way, you make it into a tea) is take the edge off the pain and make it bearable. Use it for anything small you'd usually pop an aspirin for. If you're allergic to aspirin, DO NOT TAKE WILLOW! Nemone: Yeah, that makes sense- I think what it does is actually balance your body, so you don't over or under-produce hormones that you don't need.

Aspirin is made from willow bark- I used to know the chemical that is used, but I can't remember now. Anyway, they're the same basic component, only pill aspirin is much more concentrated. IBproufen, I believe, is also a plant derivative, but a lot further away. (Most medicine is some plant or mineral derivative).

Nemone I don't know about the cactus juice thing, I was reading a desert survival book (which is now with my husband in iraq) and a lot of kinds of cactus are pretty crappy for you and will actually cause diarrhea or dehydrate you more... I think that the inside of the pads of prickly pears and their fruit, barrel cactus (not saguaro), and the stalks (and only that part) of ... agave plants I believe they're called are a few of the only ones that are good for you if you need water in the desert. And I think that its in the sahara that they have these gourd things, I don't remember what they're called, and they have water in them you can drink. There's also some kind of tree in some of the deserts that you can get water from the roots, I don't remember what it was though. Aloe pulp is actually bad for you too, it can cause diarrhea. Once I get the book back I'll have to read that section again and give you guys the low-down on where to get water if you're lost in the desert. Hi, here in Canada you can purchase catus juice that is organic and food grade & apparently good for you. Aloe gives some people diarrhea for a few weeks when they first start taking it because it actually detoxifies the bowels, of course you need to be sure you are taking certified organic aloe juice or gel that is food grade , not the stuff you get at the drug store for sunburns. We use it all the time. we also apply it externally for soft skin. if your skin is really sensitive it can make it pink the first few times as it heals. It's a fantastic herb.

On the overheating thing. Best thing to do is try to stay cool and drink water like everyone else said. On headaches. Evert try Feverfew you can take a pinch of it and stick it between your teeth and front teeth and suck on it for a bit. It taste like asprin but does not do all the damaging effects that asprin does to your liver. I use it all the time for headaches and it wipes them out in less then 15 mins. You can also make a tea out of it and put local honey in it to help with the taste. I found out about this from a friend who is a native american and her family has been using it for as long as she can remember. You can order it online or get it at local lose herb shop. Feverfew
