"Oh come now..." The man followed beside her, walking backwards his back shoulders leaning back slightly so that he was looking straight at her even though he was slightly behind her. "You sure do suck the fun out of a joke... Alright then..." He flipped a coin in the air and caught it as he continued wlaking backwards facing her. "How about I give you a slightly more reasonable proposition?

"What this time?" she asked, slightly suspicious of what he was going to ask her to do this time. She stopped, her arms folded loosely over her chest, and looked down at him. "What do you think you're going to get me to do this time?"

He picked up one of the stones off of the ground, and flipped it about in his hands. "Nothing hard." Holding the stone in one hand the golden coin in the other. "Collect as many stones as possible, give them to me, ofcourse. For each pound of stones you give me, you will recieve equal in weight of gold. Not too hard for you, now is it Princess?"

"My name is Nicola," she answered. "Not Little Girl, and certainly not Princess." Nikki paused to look at him, shifting her weight from one foot to the other as she studied him. "What do you want with all those stones?" she demanded, sure that he was simply playing tricks with her again.

The little man bowed before her, his hand tucked under his waist as he did so. "I am Blink." He played with the stone in his hand, rolling it in between his fingers. "Oh, nothing special. Just using what I can, you know? You never know when a few rocks might come in handy, and they're just lying about, I figured I might as well!" He let the rock drop to the ground, pulling out the golden coin again and commenced his little game of throwing it up into the air adn catching it again. "So what do you say, Nicola?"

"I say you're trying to make a fool out of me," she answered, a frown pulling down the edges of her usually smiling lips. "And I don't appreciate it. My family is depending on me, and I don't need people like you wasting my time with trivial pranks." Nikki tilted her head back to the sands. "If you want the stones, why not pick them up yourself?"

Blink fell down, laying on hsi back with his hands folded behind his head like a pillow. "I'm lazy..." He sat up, yawning with his arms stretching in the air. "Besides." He offered the single gold coin to the girl. "This way I also get to help out a poor little girl that is in need, right? Come on. You help load these stones up, and I give you equal in gold. Seems like a pretty good deal to me, don't you say?" He stood up, dusting the sand off of him. "But I'll understand if you don't want to. If you think you'll find a job elsewhere, I'll happily jsut leave you be and be elsewhere."

She shifted from one foot to the other. She needed the gold, and hadn't had any luck finding a new job, but... "What garuntee do I have that you won't simply laugh at me and leave without payment?"

Blink snapped his fingers, wagging his one finger at Nicola madly. "Your a very difficult girl, you know that?" His voice was on the egde of irritation. "Here I am trying to help you, and you just keep throwing question after question." He scoffed. "Very well." With a snap of his finger, there was a great flash, and now a huge scale made entirely of gold stood before them. "On that side," He pointed to the left. "you will put stones. Every time the scale tips, I'll put gold onto the other side," He pointed to the scale on the right. "Until the scale is balanced. When alls said and done, I'll tke the stones, and you'll take the gold. Your not to touch the stones, and I'm not to touch the gold, is that good enough for you yet, Princess?"

"Don't call me Princess!" Nikki snapped, extending her hand. "Shake on it. A handshake is binding, you'll be under contract to pay me." She was taking no chances that she could possibly make a fool of herself, and do the work for nothing. The fact that he was offering the payment proved he was nice in some respect, but she had no doubt he'd skip out without giving her the money if he had a chance.

"I was hoping you'd say that." Almost eagerly the little man snatched up her hand in his own, his grip firm on her hand as he shook her hand a little harder than necessary. Though he did this so she wouldn't bother noticing the tiny little electric tingle she would from his hand. And then he let go. "Now, get moving!"

She pulled back her hand quickly, studying the man warily as she rubbed the thumb of her over hand over her palm, wondering what the odd feeling she'd gotten from him was. "Sure," Nikki answered softly, backing away from him quickly. She was several steps away before she turned and started gathering the stones, still keeping an eye on the odd little man. He is strange. What have I gotten myself into this time? She carefully dumped the first load on the scale, waiting for him to pay up.

The stones landed, clanging aganst the golden frame of the scale, and it slowly began tipping to one side. With a flick of his thumb, a golden coin came flying into the air and landed into the scale with a sharp ding. And the scale righted itself once more. "Oooo, enough for one night's food."

Nikki cast the man a glance. He obviously didn't know much about stretching funds, if he thought that was all she could buy with that coin. She didn't bother to comment on that, though, and simply went back to work, still feeling rather foolish, but unwilling to pass up the opportunity to earn the money for her family. After a few moments, she began to hum.

Logan's cloak whipped past his body as he ran away from the ocean side. He had heard someone call out, possibly to him. He continued to run ignoring the person, for their own good. It was much better if he remained alone and not get close to anyone. Several hours had passed when he finally stopped. Panting he turned around to check how much distance he had covered. Surprised at the distance he let a smile dance across his face. Logan reached for the edges of his hood and pulled it down across his shoulders. His dark brown hair was sopping wet with sweat. Beads of sweat dripped from his eyebrows and rolled down his cheeks. His lips tasted salty and his clothes were slightly wet. It had been awhile since he had ran so far, so quickly.

Logan quickly gathered in his surroundings and noticed a large boulder with several smaller ones around it in no particular order. He made his way to one of the small ones and quickly climbed on top and sat to rest. Thinking for several minutes he decided to make camp for tonight and jumped off the rock. At a moderate pace he gathered some brush and large sticks that could be made into a fire. After having gathered enough he turned his back away from the large boulder, using it as a shield from the wind. He placed the wood and brush he had gathered about fifteen feet away from the boulder. He sat down on the soft earth and grass and huddled the brush into a pile and set the wood beside him. Concentrating on the brush for several seconds Logan snapped his fingers and it erupted into flames. He then began to place the smaller sticks onto the brush so he could slowly build onto the fire.

After completely this task he stood up and removed his cloak, he would be using this for a bed tonight. He placed it back away from the fire, but close enough to feel it's heat. Logan then laid down, with his eyes open watching the flames dance and lick the sky. He had many thoughts run through his mind at that moment, none of which were pleasent. And yet after thinking of all the bad things his mind returned to ocean. He could still picture the waves crashing onto the shore and the smell of the saltwater. He turned onto his back and placed his hands behind his head and looked up at the stars. It was a new moon tonight and he was thankful for that. He continued to gaze at he stars until his eyelids became heavy and he soon lost the battle of fighting sleep.
