Shintanai Go ahead and kill the damn thing if the women wants to. and think about all the stuff the alleged child won't have to go through in life, like arguing about this. Who is to say that the fetus you shove in the garbage couldn't grow up to bring peace to all nations? And yes life in America is so horrible I mean we have so much food and all he might have to worry about his weight. Such a horrific life we have

Such a horrific life we have Well, who's to say he might not grow up to brutally kill hundreds of people? Why is the fetus in question always destined for greatness? Why is the fetus always a peacebringer, some fabulous golden savior? Is it not far more likely he will simply grow up to be absolutely average and contribute nothing to society as a whole? I could argue that the cow that was slaughtered for your hamburger may one day have wandered into the road and caused a traffic accident which killed a would-be serial killer? How dare you eat that cow, it could have saved lives! The argument of potential is flawed.

I'm Pro-choice.
I feel the rights of the woman outweight the rights of the fetus. Or in other words the living take precendence over potential life.

I generally don't like yes or no answers but in the case of abortion, I don't think it should be allowed to some people and not to others.
Take the example of rape, which is commonly thought to be one of the only excuses for getting an abortion by people on the fence. So, what is rape? A ten year old that got pregnant because daddy got drunk at the wrong time deserves an abortion because she got raped. Fine.
Any any woman of any age that was raped at gunpoint in a back alley clearly should have the right to an abortion (if anyone should). Rape, right?
What about a 10 year old that fooled around a little too much with her 15 year old boyfriend? That's statutory rape, but she might have consented to it. Still, a baby could damage her body. Lets say she can have an abortion too.
But what about a 14 year old with a 19 year old boyfriend? Her body is almost done developing sexually, and she'd probably survive childbirth. But it's generally considered statutory rape anyway. Abortion?
Or say a 16 year old was date raped? She said no, so it is rape. But she was there of her own free will... Abortion?
Or a 25 year old that was slipped a roofie at a bar (or at a church picnic) and woke up next to god knows who. She can handle having a baby but she probably didn't want to have one with some stranger. And she was definitely taken advantage of. Abortion?
What about a woman that knows her husband will beat the s**t out of her if she says she doesn't want to have sex?
My point is that if you start saying some women deserve the right to abort and some don't, you get into a possibly even more complicated debate. I'm pro-choice, across the board (for 1st trimester). Women are not baby farms. Just because she has a few cells growing inside her doesn't mean she should have to keep them there.

Let me inaccurately quote a lovely saying.
"Sympathy for a bird killed. Yet no sympathy for a fish killed."
Humans can't remember anything from before they're a few months old. Before that, who knows what's going through their head, if anything. When the child is a fetus, I honestly don't believe it's evolved enough to have any conscious thought, and though this sounds a little barbaric, because of that, I don't think it's a great problem. Like when a man is (seemingly) brain dead, but still physically alive and pulling the plug on him. Except of course for the fact that the fetus will probably grow into a human being with time and live a prosperous life. But you get the gist of what I'm trying to say.
I'm pro-choice, and believe that because of what happens to the woman's body, and the fact that it's her body that creates the fetus, it's up to her what happens to it. They've got an age that you can't get an abortion at, and I think it's appropriate and nothing needs to be changed.

Is the fetus a complete being?From when we can call it a "human being"?What about the first stages of the embryos?Can we call an agglomerate of less than 10 cells a "man"?
And what about the illness of the baby?I would feel guilty if I had to condemn my ill child to a brief life of sufference.What if my son in the end would tell me "why you made me if you knew I would have been so sad and suffering?".
So,let the women decide what's best for them and for the baby too.It's cruel iny my opinion to force a woman to have a baby she can't love.It is cruel both for the mother and for the child.

I'm not going to answer this question logically. This is too emotional of an issue to answer logically.
You're 21, female. Good family, relationship, college, friends. High expectations, wants, ambitions. And then... whoops. What races through your head in this panic? You're life over everything else. What about the shame of being that one person who got knocked-up? Or college, school? All those ambitions? And what about the fact that your parents and siblings will be royally disappointed in you? Or the fact that you are a student and there is no way you and your sig-other could support the child at the given time?
Yeah, it might be ideal to keep the child. But humans are greedy. And honor & pride is much about the human condition as anything else.

I'm 16 years old, go to school, have a nice family, and a week ago, I slept at my boyfriends house.
The condom teared.....
I really tought I was pregnant, but it seems fals alarm...
I'm sooooo verry happy!!!
An dyou know why?
If I would get a baby, that would destroy my life, becouse I can't go to school any more, and I would only be able to get a job wich doesn't pay verry well...
it would destroy the life of my boyfriend, becouse he would have helped me, but that would have taken about all of his time :O
AND most of all, it would destroy the life of the baby :O
becouse my boyfriend and me just can't take care of a baby right now!
The baby will never have a life it deserves!
So if I was pregnant right now, becouse of that exedent happened last week... I would want to get an abortion...just for the sake of the baby!
you destroy his life when you abort it, but he would have more pain when you let it live....
but that would just be in my case.... I don't think abortus is always an option...
but when your raped, or an axident happened...and you can't take caro of it, I think abortion is the best thing to do....

I think that if a woman wants to have an abortion, let her. It will be the woman that goes through the nine months of pregnancy and actually has the baby.
And if the woman does not want the baby, why should you put the baby through growing up with parents that can't care for him/her, and do not even want the baby? The baby should have a chance to have a good life, and so should the parents. You never know what situation the parents are in. They might still be in school and have to drop out, they might not have enough money to support the child, or anything else.

The parent is considered the legal guardian of the child until they reach 18 and are considered adults (unless the parents die or something). The parents are supposed to act in the best intrest of the child until they are old enough to make thier own descisions. If the parents know that they would be poor parents, then having an abortion would be acting in the best intrest of the child. Perhaps they chose the abortion over giving the child up for adoption because they would like to spare the child from not knowing his/her parents or wondering what was wrong with them that would make the parents give them up. Every situation is different, though.
