We could, though (as a suggestion) come up with a list of guilds that may want to affiliate. I know that I'd be willing to affiliate Gaian Divination Center with this place.
They're not particularly similar, but I'd affiliate Making Memories. XD Of course, they have nothing to do with each other.

That's cool, I think it's a good idea. We could start a sticky for it and you guys can post anyone who you want to have be like "affiliates" and then I'll put them in sort of a master list in the first post. Unless you'd prefer to do it some other way.

"sister! i want to be crew!" clings to nemone.

"eh heh i'm just being a spaz, which is pretty much what my guild is for. whee Anywho, i'm working on my guild right now and i'd say the hardest thing is actually getting more members. gaia doesn't seem to have a heck of a lot of people who are interested in more educated things. Thus noted by the lack of interest in places like the writer's forum. So a recruiting thread someplace very visible may be helpful. hrmm and get a good banner too. those help, put them in your sig." 3nodding

"I've also noted something rather sad. there are very few users who stick with gaia for a long period of time. i've lost touch with more people on gaia then you've prob met sis....and it sucks cause they were cool. Ok what is my point...oh new members are important...yeah that was it." 3nodding

Then again, some of us stick around for a good long while. *grins*

While it's not technically LEGAL in the Gaia world, I'll tell you what I'm doing to get members in my guild....

I've got a thread in the Guilds Forum. You can't have recruitment threads there, only poor man's guilds, where people meet in one thread, but it's not GGN. I have it set up as though it were THE guild. I go chat daily, both as myself, and as Dame_fortuna, the guild mule/captain. That way, not only do I get more people interested and seeing the guild, but I also get a chance to screen members before allowing them in. With a divination themed guild, if I didn't screen, I might end up with flamers and troublemakers. This way I can see that everyone's going to keep coming back, at least for a while, and that people tend to mesh. If someone doesn't, they don't get invited. I have on the front page of my guild that peopel who are interseted should come by the thread to get to know everyone. Almost all of the guild members drop by the thread from time to time.

Perfectly legal, actually. ^-^ What you have there is the same as the Church of Mod, the Flowers of Japan, and most guilds have. You start as a simple thread, a guild for those curious and whatnot. Then you have a GGN guild that is for the dedicated members to discuss things that the public doesn't need to see. If you'd like, I am more than willing to head up a thread in a main forum.

The reason I said it wasn't technically legal is the fact that that thread was made AFTER I made the guild...specifically to recruit members. hehe.

Something else neat I'm trying to implement is an affiliation system so that if you're in the guild, you can "shop" at an affiliated store and get discounts. smile

I'll affiliate my charity, so that members of the guild get the same discount charity members do! (about 10%)

biggrin

I've not got the system up and running yet, but when I do, I'll get a banner for you. I'll also give you the code word (or however we do it) so that you, as an affiliated person, can get discounts too. Couldn't have it not working both ways, now could I? smile

That sounds like a good idea to me. It would probably be an easier way to find people than trying to recruit in the Chatterbox, that place is like spam central. The only things that stay on the first page are things like "looking for bf" or "get gold." I feel dirty every time I go in.

A thought. Should we have an off-site linklist for websites that are not-Gaian but still relate? I see links all the time for botanical.com and other sites. *checks with mod real quick* Yep, it's all good to link to sites off Gaia, even ones for mail-order, so long as they dont' sell anything for Gaia gold. XD ("Yes, I'd like to order an ounce of feverfew? Yes... yes... perfect. I'll trade you your sealies tomorrow.")
What do y'all think? A linklist?

YAY! heart Here you go!

Our new "public" guild!

I'm not going to add anyone else to the guild member list in the thread until I know that you don't mind being on the list. I wouldn't want someone listed in public if they didn't want to be.

YAY!

I'm more than happy to be listed as a member. smile

And I agree that a link list would be great!
