Well, a large part of the Boogiepop series is the stress placed on the lives of Japanese high-school students, something that unfortunately causes a lot of teen suicide in the country.
A lot of it is the pressure placed on them by the Japanese school system, though the creators make a point to show family issues, friendships gone awry, romantic issues, etc. This is what really creates a sense of horror when monsters like Spooky E. or the Manticore target this easy prey, and a sense of sympathy when said monsters start controlling the minds of these children, forcing the students to sabotage their own lives.

True...very true. Boogiepop is known or should be known for showing the darker side of society and life in general.

Dark Mousy~Lady Goth Oro? Though parents have their quirks, they still try. Not all, in a world this big you can find plenty of horrible parents.

I agree... They are portrayed horribly... I've only seen ten episodes of BP but enough to have seen almost every portrayal of the parents.
