I was ready to be sought out by those who did not ask, to be found by those who did not seek me. Hmm, my favorite(s)?
"Say...Have you ever realized how insignificant your existance is on this planet? I have. It's something I'll never forget. During elementary school...When I was in sixth grade...the whole family went to watch a baseball game...at the stadium. I wasn't particularly interested in baseball...but I was shocked once we got there. There were people everywhere I looked. The ones on the other side of the stadium looked like squirming grains of rice all packed together. I wondered if every last person in Japan and gathered in this place. And so...I asked my dad. Exactly how many people were in the stadium? His answer was that about a sold out game meant around fifty-thousand people. After the game, the path to the station was flooded with people. The sight stunned me. So many people around me...yet they only made up a fraction of the people in Japan. Once I got home, I got a calculator and did the math. We learned that the Japanese population was a hundred million and some in social studies. Divide fifty thousand into that...and you only get one two-thousandth. I was stunned again. Not only was I just one little person in that sea of people in that stadium...but that sea of people...was merely a drop in the ocean. I had thought myself to be...a special person up until that point. I enjoyed being with my family...and most of all...I thought that my class in my school...had the most interesting people in the world. But...that was when I realized it wasn't like that. The things that happened in what I believed to be the most enjoyable class in the world...could be found happening in any school in Japan. Everyone in Japan would find them to be ordinary occurrences. Once I realized this...I suddenly found that...my surroundings were beginning to lose their color. Brush my teeth and go to sleep at night. Wake up and eat breakfast in the morning. People do those everywhere. When I realized everyone did all these things on a daily basis...everything started to feel so boring. And if...there were so many people in the world...there had to be someone living an interesting life that wasn't ordinary. I was sure of it. Why wasn't that person me? That's all I could think about...until I graduated from elementary school. And in the process, I realized something. Nothing fun will happen if you sit around waiting. So I figured I would change myself in middle school. Let the world know that I wasn't content in sitting around and waiting. And I conducted myself accordingly. But in the end, nothing ever happened. Before I knew it, I was in highschool. I thought something would've changed." -Haruhi Suzumiya.(Yeah, it was long, but that was one of my favorite parts in the anime....)
Kyon: Don't you want to go back to our world? We can't stay in this place for the rest of our lives. Doesn't look like there's a place to eat if we get hungry. Haruhi: It's kind of strange...but I get the feeling it'll work itself out. I wonder why. I'm having fun right now. Kyon:What about the SOS Brigade? It's the club you made. You're just gonna ditch it? Haruhi: That doesn't matter anymore. After all, look. I'm having this really fun experience right now. There's no need to go look for anything mysterious anymore. Kyon: I want to go back. Haruhi: ...! Kyon: I found out something after being thrown into this situation. I may complain all the time...but I actually liked how my life was. Including that idiot Taniguchi and Kunikada...Koizumi, Nagato, and Asahina-san...You can even...include the vanished Asakura. Haruhi: What are you talking about... Kyon: I want to see them again. I feel like I have so many things I want to tell them. Haruhi: I'm sure we'll see them. This world won't be covered in darkness forever. The sun will rise tomorrow. I can tell. Kyon: That's not what I mean. I don't mean in this world. I want to see the old them...in the old world. Haruhi: *stops and lets go of Kyon's hand* I don't get it. Weren't you fed up with that boring world? Didn't you want something more interesting to happen!? Kyon: I did indeed. You know, Haruhi. I've been through some really...interesting experiences the past few days. You probably don't know anything...but you could say the world is revolving around you. You just didn't know...but the world was definitely moving in an interesting direction. Nagato said..."The potential for evolution." According to Asahina-san she was a "time warp". Koizumi treated her as "God". Then what about me? What does the person Haruhi Suzumiya...mean to me? Haruhi is Haruhi and nobody else. I'm not gonna use such tautology to dodge the question. But...I don't happen to have a decisive answer. Isn't that natural? If someone points to the classmate sitting behind you...and asks, "What is she to you?" How are you supposed to respond? No, sorry. Guess that's still dodging the question. Haruhi isn't just a classmate to me. Of course, she isn't the potential for evolution...or a time warp...much less God. Couldn't possibly be! Mikiru: Do you know what Snow White is? Haruhi: What is it... Kyon: Actually...Ponytails turn me on. Haruhi: What? Kyon: The ponytail you had back whenever...looked so good it was criminal. Haruhi: Are you retarded? *The big kiss happens :]*
I said, "Here I am, here I am," To a nation that did not call on my name.

"It's amazing how much you can kiss your own a**." Kyon's thoughts about Haruhi during the murder mystery revelation
"I'm sure that in Haruhi's mind she's hearing a standing ovation 100 times larger than this." Kyon's thoughts again from the same scene.

(not exact quotes) Yuki: ...! I forgot to make glasses... Kyon: You look better without them, I'm not really much of a glasses man anyway. Yuki: What's a glasses man? Kyon: Uh, nothing... Yuki: I see...
