A set of twins jumped out of the trees, except no human twins have bright purple glowing eyes. These two promptly attacked Buffy, who fought back with her usual grace and skill. Once they were both decapitated, she said, "Huh. Weird."

From behind a different mausoleum, an older man in a charcoal gray suit watched, but frowned when Buffy successfully killed the demons. He held a book, which appeared to be "Tom Sawyer", but as he opened it, the author's name "Twain" shifted and grew until it became the size that the title had been before. Inside were strange words, which this man began to whisper.

Visible from Spike's vantage, a demon appeared, summoned by the man behind the mausoleum. All Buffy did, however, was tie her shoe, unable to see what was going on. The creature's roar interrupted her, and, alert, she stood in a fighting stance. The man flipped to another page and began reciting again, pointing two fingers at the demon behind the trees.

The last word of the spell was out of the man's lips before he could stop himself from saying it. As his fingers separated, so did two images of Spike, both exactly alike.

Buffy, hearing the noise nearby, hurtled through the trees to confront whatever monster was lurking. The recently summoned demon snarled at the two Spikes and the Slayer.

"Me? Who the bloody hell are you?" replied the exact same voice.

Seeing that the two Spikes were busy arguing, Buffy decided to take care of the demon herself. She fought, but her hair got caught in the creature's spines. Rolling her eyes that such a thing could happen, she fought to get loose. The demon, also rolling it's eyes, tried to kill her.

"Hey, hey, hey, easy there." said Buffy, separating them before the second Spike had a chance to retaliate from the first Spike's insult. With one hand on each unbeating chest, she stood between them. "Now, does someone want to explain to me what's going on before I stake both of you, and solve this whole problem?"

(Oh! I just had an idea!!!)

"Oh, please. Like I stole this look from anyone. Matter of fact, Billy Idol stole it from me. Now, Buffy, I don't have the foggiest idea what the hell is going on, but I know I'm the real Spike. This... doppelganger... is some sort of demony thing." he waved his hand in derision.

Sarcastically, Buffy responded, "You do know you're both demons? ...Whatever. We're all going back to the library and figuring this out." She knew Giles usually stayed there late, so hoped tonight was no different.

The man, seeing that his plan had backfired, slipped away into the night. It was not the first time Ethan Rayne's plans had failed, but this time, he suspected he'd get away with it. Just as long as that pathetic rock-and-roll vampire didn't see anything...

"C'mon, both of you." she said with annoyance. Seeing that they weren't going to follow, she folded her arms. "Fine. Just don't go anywhere." she doubted they would: they would keep fighting like two immature children until she could get Giles. She ran off towards the school.

"Some days I hate having a soul." said Spike quietly to himself, with exasperation. "Now that Buffy's gone, you can drop the act. Who are you, really?"
