Rilian Jaithien Rilian Someone probably already said this, but you need to get out the house. Go to a park, go swimming or skating or whatever you like, join clubs, meet people. If you feel depressed, go do something with other people. yeah as a teen my high points where rocky horror picture show events. i met lots of interesting people there, mrgreen also finely honed my perverse sense of humor. Awesome. Were they with live actors, too, or just the movie? The one in Fort Worth has people acting it out on the floor in front of the screen. it was like that. we watched the movie and our friends acted it out. once i got to play Columbia but my boostia(sp) was too small. redface i gave two pot heads a really good show. sweatdrop

Just because your homeschooled does not mean you have to be in the house all day. Because I no longer have loads of homework to do after school I have the time to go see friends and do things. My social life had never been better. That is my opinion anyway lol biggrin

Spindra Raven_Heart Well, maybe it's because you guys aren't making an effort. You can't really expect new friends to just "show up" magically. wink Do you get together with your homeschool friends at all? Do you all attend the same church? Maybe you could start a regular group there. Are there Parks & Rec classes in your town/county? It's somewhere to start at least. Oh, and Yahoo groups can make it easy to start your own IRL homeschool group. Best of luck. I think... Wait, never mind, I don't. What? confused

Sports. Join a sports team, and you've got instant buddies.
I was in a huge public school, made tons of 'contacts', and now go to a smaller charter school. There's hardly a school in the district I don't know someone at.

I get really lonely. I only have one (teenage) friend from the anime club at the library; I only really get to go to the library (every week!) and most of the friends and acquaintances I make are adults due to there being few adults in the activities my library has that I can go to.

I went to public school and I can tell you it really isn't that different in the social department.
It's cliquish and many of the kids are jerks (at least in that setting).
My kids are homeschooled. My daughter is very shy and only has a couple of friends. She had a very bad experience when she was younger and just doesn't want to trust other people.
My son, on the other hand, has tons of friends. And when his school work is done, he's out with his friends doing all sorts of things. There's movies, libraries, skateboard parks, swimming, etc.
To be sure, as a homeschooler, you will meet less people, but forming friendships is the same regardless of how many people you meet or where you meet them. The real difference would be that in public school, there would be a lot more people for you to reject as potential friends smile
I agree with the sports option or joining a club -- you will meet people who share your passions.
If you're still young, perhaps you can bring your concerns and/or loneliness up to your parents -- perhaps they will have some other suggestions.
But whatever you do, don't just hang out in your house all day -- that alone can depress a person eek

Since I became Home Educated I've hardly ever left the house. Only to go to the Hospital or Ice-skating from time to time. But yes, it's really depressing. I also choose not to go outside because I feel really unsafe out there... Especially in the town I live in. confused
