I have never really had trouble with needles, but I know people who do. My friend and I are going out to get piercings soon, and I am basically going to go with her so she can cling to me and go "Ooooohhhhh" while it's happening. I think people really make needles more of a big deal than they need to, which leads to them getting nervous and freaking out too much when the needle is going in. I think it would help to think that you've already lived several years, which is many, many seconds. The needle will go in and come out in thirty seconds or less unless they are taking a huge amount of blood, which is really only a minute fraction of the total time in which you will live.

Also, taking a deep breath right before the needle goes in and not watching will help, as will having something in your hands to squeeze.
