Hideo turned away from the sight calling to Adrias, "We should get moving while the sun is still low." He continued on foot. With each step his sandals made little to no disturbance to the dirt, that is hard hard and dry the dirt was. Little desert bugs crawled along the ground fleeing the sunlight. Hideo carried his sword over his shoulder unsheathed, because he did not own one.

"Sure thing boss." She got up and followed Hideo obediantly. She didn't know why she had started calling him Boss, the name just stuck. "How long do you think before we reach the station?" She caught up to him and glanced up at his face, he always seemed to be deep in though. Adrias didn't know if this was true or if that's just how his face always looked.

Hideo continued walking at his own pace, not trying to lose Adrias, but since he began looking for his brother he had always kept up his pace. Hideo blinked (for the first time in about 15 minutes) at Adrias' question, snapping him back into the present. "We are at Tri-Peak Mountain so I'd say at this pace about two or three hours walk." Hideo answer much more down-to-Filgaia but his facial expression remained stagnant. Hideo reached into the fold in his shirt and revealed a large leathered animal stomach which was what was commonly used as a canteen and tossed it to Adrias, "Drink up. I can't have to worry about you dehydrating in the out here."

Adrias caught the canteen and unscrewed the cap. She took a swig and closed it again, tossing it back to Hideo. "Three hours uh? You don't have to worry about me." She kept up his pace effortlessly, Adrias had always been good when it came to walking long distances. She was pretty good at running too.

By now they had been walking through the seemingly endless desert, the sun was now high enough to tire anyone walking such long distances.A low roar suddenly emitted itself from Hideo's stomach. "We'll have breakfast once we get on the train." Hideo mentioned to Adrias, but was truly reassuring himself.

"Uh? Oh right." Adrias had forgot about breakfeast. She often did that when she was occupied with other things at the moment. "So have you traveled this far before?" The lack of conversation was a little uncomfortable, but she could understand if Hideo didn't feel like speaking.

"Yes, quite a few times, but always with a caravan." Hideo was growing, a bit anxious to arrive at the station, but because of the desert, not the company. As they walked the ground began emitting a strange pattern of tremors. The tremors began as a low rumble but quickly gathered force, becoming a violent vibration! "Something is coming! Quick!" Hideo yelled as he began running on his toes.

"What is it?" Adrias quickened her pace, running after Hideo. It didn't take her long to reach the same sprint he was running at. "What's coming." She could feel the vibrations too and excitement filled her. Whatever it was, it was big.

As the two ran closer to the station a small object appeared in the horizon by a minor mountain, it was the station! It seemed like the station was not getting much closer though.

Merely a couple yards behind the two sprout what appeared to be a small rock, cutting the ground as it chased the two. The small rock began sprouting out from the ground into what appeared to be a dorsal fin of a rock-shark. It was a creature that swam underground chasing vibrations. It was the most common creature to attack caravans. Its skin was a tan/brown color and was hard as rock. It had no eyes, but a large mouth. From tip of its tail to the tip of its nose it was 12 feet long. The rock-shark's fin quickly disappeared back into the ground, but reappeared when the entire shark jumped out of the ground and into the air, preparing to dive onto Adrias. Hideo, still running, grabbed Adrias by the wrist and pulled her away stumbling to the ground. The shark dove back into the ground throwing massive amounts of dirt in the air behind him.

As the shark jumped out in front of Adrias she bacame paralized with fear and shock. She felt a huge tug and was pulled out of the way just time. Adrias scrambled back to her feet and looked at Hideo. "What is that thing!" Her voice was almost hysterical, she had never seen anything like it. But now fear gripped at her, the shark had dissappeared back into the earth and there was no telling where it was going to come up next.

The deep desert. Where few travelled, and none, save one man, would linger. It was said to be dangerous in the hottest areas of the planet, where a man would be cooked alive by the heat of the sand, if he were not under good cover. However, those dangers were one of the few things that kept the drifter of the quiet places thinking that he was in fact still human. His name was John, and he was crouched, looking at a coulumn of a few bricks that stuck up from the surface of the sand. There was a town, buried beneath his feet, and knowing the especially violent weather that the equatorial reigons sometimes endured, if may well have been buried in a single afternoon. He wondered who had lived in this place, which brave souls had found it within them to endure in this god forsaken wilderness.

But such questions had no answers, and probably never would. So John Cain stood up, his long white coat whispering along the sand, and set off once more, heading north in the shuffling, irregular gait that from below, sounded like shifting sand rather than footsteps. There were many things beneath the sea of sand that held no fear for John, but there were quite a few, that he never wanted to have to meet a second time. He also guessed that there were still more that he had yet to encounter, and it was the expectation of such things that kept him alert and moving with speed across the dunes. The nearest town was over one hundred miles away and behind him, the town he was headed to, was nearly two hundred miles north-northwest from his position. He would reach it before noon the next day.

Hideo shuffled to his feet, picking Adrias up as well. With a shift of his feet and a pivot of his body Hideo turned, almost launching Adrias on a running start. "Don't stop!" Hideo commanded Adrias while he began to run in the opposite direction. This would confuse the shark, or at least delay it while it chooses who to attack. Again the shark's dorsal fin was exposed swimming through the ground.

Her eyes widened as she was launched forward, she landed and kept running as Hideo ordered, looking back to see him going in the opposite direction. What is he doing? She didn't have time to figure it out as the sharks dorsal fin had come back up. "s**t!" Adrias drew her weapon, still keeping up her pace.

Sumizome trudged up a sand dune and saw the ocean. Sighing gently, she continued to walk towards the water. She drew her sais just incase of an attack and she licked her parched lips. As she drew clower to the blue mass, she thought she heard some people talking, but she paid no heed to the voices and continued on her way.

He slid as he turned and stopped, his sandals leaving long tracks in the dirt. He saw that the fin was headed in his direction. Hideo lifted his sword into the air facing downwards and jammed it into the ground. He proceeded to turn and continue his flee. The dull sound of clinking metal rang and before long the shark jumped out of the ground, but now was missing his left fin and was bleeding excessively from the wound. The sharks mouth was biting at the air rabidly. What happened next may have been luck, Hideo's speed, or the missing fin threw the shark off balance, but when the shark came down it would have bitten Hideo in half. But instead his nose hit Hideo in the back. This caused two events to occur, Hideo was launched forward onto the ground, and the shark landed on the ground on his stomach, unable to burrow into the ground. Hideo lay there on his stomach moaning from the immense pain the shark had caused him.
