Ah, Maka-Maka has been licensed by Media Blasters! This means it'll be more accessible in the future. I'm not sure whether I'm surprised or not, since it's such a good series, but it's also ero/adult material.

Either way, everyone who enjoyed this series or thinks that they will, look out for it! I'm sure they can't screw up the translations on this one, either (they can't, right?). The scanslators did a great job of setting a standard, though.

Anyway, it'll be uncensored, released by Media Blaster's adult label Kitty Media, 18+ rating and shrinkwrapped, according to this source, a company representative. Apparently they're hoping to keep the price to $20, and are releasing in full color with all of the extras. Sounds great so far!

I'm already looking for a place to hide it so my sister doesn't flip through it by accident. ;D
I'll probably have to special-order it, but it sounds like it's going to be a nice release.

Make a false book cover for it that titles it "The History of Wax" and leave it on an obscure and uninteresting corner of your bookshelf. XD

You really might have to special-order it though, haha. Since it's adult and yuri is still hard to find at many bookstores. But, I'm sure it'll be available around. :3 And I think this one will probably be worth buying!

A double dust jacket would be strange, but no one would touch it with that cover. XD

I'll almost certainly have to order it; I've only seen a couple of yuri/adult titles on the shelf where I live. I could probably get it by asking a salesperson, though.
It'll definitely be worth buying; I really liked this series when I read it through scanlations. 3nodding

Oh yeah, that's another way to get it. Borders does it, I think--if it's offered by Borders at all (online, etc.), then you can often ask the store to order a copy for you. I think that usually saves on shipping, too.

Hmm, I can't remember, but are the covers of Maka-Maka that incriminating? I think they're generally pretty tame on the outside, content warnings aside, but then, they're pretty attractive and would be full-color too, so I guess that would invite attention. So yeah, probably something to hide or cover for sure. XD

It does, which is why I'd probably go that route.

The girls are clothed on the front, but they're naked if you remove the dust jacket.

I saw that, little bit of news on Anime News Network a few days ago. I am really excited. I like this title too, luckily I don't have to hide it other than in my bedroom wink Thanks to you Kageling, otherwise I would have never known about this manga. *huggles*

=D I'm glad I was able to introduce you to something you like! And that if some of us are ordering, we're supporting some companies releasing yuri materials (encourage them to license and make more!). *hugs back* <3

I might have to hide it if I get it (I might, I'll see the reviews about the release when it's out~ Actually, if you guys get it first, do post here about how the release is, please? *puppy eyes*). Even in my room, a lot of people come and go freely and they often look on my bookshelf. I'm not sure I'd be that bothered, but there are just some people you don't want finding ero materials on your shelves. XD

Zephyrkitty- Awesome! And oh, really? I didn't really pay attention, but now that you mention it, I guess you're right. If you cover it like libraries/students cover their books that's less easy to remove, though, it'll probably discourage people from removing the dust jacket--except you.

From what I've heard, the two girls aren't really lovers, and they never really get to be like that, more like best friends with benefits. Just wondering, is all...

This depends on how you view the relationship. The girls are not exclusive, nor do they identify as homosexual (or straight, or anything else either, for that matter--they seem just fluid, really). They are best friends. However, when you examine their relationship in the manga, it is clear that they are also lovers, and care about each other very, very deeply; their relationship is both emotional and sexual. And, despite dating men on the side, those relationships seem to be much more transient compared to the very strong, constant relationship that Jun and Nene have with each other.

It's never really stated explicitly how they themselves define their relationship, but when you read it, you'll probably form your own ideas. For me, I think that even if they aren't exclusive, they really do have a very special relationship, and it's a totally valid yuri love relation.

I really liked Maka-Maka. It's not just about the sex, it was how at first they weren't really loves but then sort-of ended up being them. I want to buy it so bad but that's not the kind of manga i want to leave laying around for my family/friends to just pick up and read sweatdrop I'll buy it in a few years XD

Haha I should start up a thread on how to effectively hide your pr0n/etc. from family, friends, and so on. XD

Maybe you should. I am unfortunately a victim of...no, maybe I should not be discussing such things.

Wait, they are SHRINK WRAPPING the manga!?!? This isn't good....this is not good....

Uh, of course they are. It's very, very adult. =O Besides, most of the manga I buy comes shrink-wrapped. Not because it's adult, but because Chinese manga is always sold that way, haha. It protects the books, too.

Chinese manga? What the...huh???? O....k....? I am confused...you seem real fluent in English, so I dunno why...or....huh?

I dunno, I heard differently. I heard it actually can damage the books. A lot of collectors say they'd prefer no shrink-wraps. The fact that it's an adult manga is one thing, but....I dunno.

Come to think of it, the Negima manga was rated 16+ for sexual innuendo and mild nudity, and was released shrink-wrapped for the first....13 volumes? While Rurouni Kenshin is rated T+, an equivalent rating, for extrem violence, and was never shrink-wrapped. So apparently, decapitations and panels full of blood is ok to be released as it is, but sexual references and mild nudity is not. Wow....

But I am getting way off track. I just heard that shrink-wrapping can actually damage the books.

Buying the manga in Chinese means that I can get it about half off, and I can improve my Chinese. And yes, I am fluent in English, I was born in the states.

It can damage the books, but provided that it's done correctly, it helps to protect the books in transit and so on. Otherwise, you can get the page edges and cover damaged very easily, since it's paper.

The States are more prude about sexuality than violence, you notice; but regardless, this manga would really be shrink-wrapped because it's so explicit.
