Deet shook his head, "I went through about four books of Eggs and apart from some interesting recipies? I couldn't find jack squat on 'em. Even still, a purple egg isn't some thing that you come across every day, neh?" Deet chuckled, as Tishrei walked by his side, a dejected look on his face.

"So, Gin, where you come from?"

"Uh...South Barton," he said, trying to be particularly vague. Still untrusting. "I write." He nodded. Not published, not professionally, not even really known by anybody in particular. But a writer nonetheless!

"What do you do?" He started to walk down the road, pulling out his map again and glancing down at it. It was gonna be dark soon, nonetheless.

"Durem myself. I own a book store." Deet said, happy to know that his new traveling companion and himself both shared a similar interest.

"That doesn't make any money..." Tishrei said through gritted teeth. Tishrei, despite being a dog thing, did all of the finances for The Cat's Eye, and it was true: Any month that they actually made a decent ammount of money was so uncommon that Tishrei would actually break into song and dance.

"Shush you!" Deet hissed, noticing that the sun was slowly setting. "...Damn..."

"Ahh, good," he said, getting a little more comfortable. Poor, interest in books...he was a little taller and intimidating, but probably harmless.

Gin continued to walk down the path before he turned around. He didn't really stop--merely slowed. "Well, I'm gonna try to get there before night. You're welcome to come, if you want..."

"Yeah, of course. I hate sleeping outdoors." Deet said, adjusting his bag a little. The egg was getting heavy, that was for sure. And he was tired. Still, they were so close, and there was the whole issue of sleeping outside.

"You never seem to mind it when you're cat..." Tishrei said with a snarky smirk.

Gin's turned his head slightly towards his new companions. "A cat?" he asked politely. It would make sense--the ears, the tail...maybe he was one of those cursed Gains. It happened pretty often. A lot of them came into the store to rent videos.

"I'm sure we're pretty close. I hope they have some beds there." He didn't think it would be THIS far away...good think he cancelled his shift.

"Ye-ep...I'm a full-fledged Were Cat...Its probably THE most annoying thing EVER." Deet said, as if he was talking about some sort of rash on his foot instead of the fact that once a month he turned into a talking cat.

"If I'm correct, it should only be another half mile."

"WHAT?! Awww maaan. I'm tired of walking!"

"It wouldn't be a problem if you'd just buy a car..."

"Cars are evil, Tishrei!"

"WELL NOT THAT IT MATTERS 'CAUSE WE CAN'T AFFORD ONE!"
PostPosted: Thu May 24, 2007 11:49 pm

"Cool," he said again, failing horribly at trying to sound half-way interested. Werecat? Whatever. It was weird, yeah, but Gin was getting to the point where he was beyond caring. He just wanted to drop off the egg and go.

"Only a half mile?" Gin asked, his usually dour face breaking into an impish smile. "Come on, man, that's nothing. I don't have a car either, so I walk everywhere." He nodded and tried to keep up his already fading stamina. In actuality, Gin was in piss-poor shape but that didn't stop him from trying to be the stronger one.

He liked to overcompensate.

"Ugh...Fiiinneee..." Deet complained. He was kind of in shape, despite his 'teddy bear' build, thanks to his years of heavy lifting and chasing after shop-lifters, but being in shape didn't change the fact that he was lazy with a capital L.

It wasn't that long before the barrel-shaped man and the cat-man both found themselves at the X on the map, some odd placed called the Jivvins Center.

"...Well this is elegant, isn't it?" Tishrei said dryly, looking over the worn-down front and the faded paint. It looked like it could fall down at any moment.

"Well that was certaintly a fun trip. Might I suggest that now we turn around and head home? I'm sure we could find a lovely receipie for your giant eggs."

"Jivvins?" Gin asked. "...sounds delightful." He grimaced a little bit, placing his backpack a little heavily on the dirt before going up the old wooden steps. The sun was setting behind the trees--too late to head back. Maybe there were a few beds inside? That would be convenient, if there was anyone actually around.

"Sooo..." he said, pacing around the front door. "We're at the x. What do we do now?"

"Well, y'know, we might as well go inside..." Deet shrugged, Tishrei's head dropping as he turned around and started following his cat-man owner up the stairs. Deet adjusted his bag a little bit more, "'Ey, Gin, is your back-pack getting any heavier?" he asked. It was an odd question, but Deet's bag couldn't help but feel heavier.

He put his bag down on the stairs, opening it up. The purple egg started shaking, cracking.

"...Its...Hatching."

"Food?"

"No, Libro..."

"Well, last I checked it, it was normal," Gin said, taking a seat on the porch. In fact, it had been feeling a little heavier but he had chalked it up to the long day of hiking and over exerting himself. "Why?"

Then, the sound of cracking, distinct and thick, coming through the backback.

"Uh...hatching?" He looked towards the cat man. "What exactly is hatching, again?"

"The egg, stupid." Tishrei said, rolling its eyes as it watched egg hatch, Libro sitting on his head, its skull faced c**k to the side as it watched the egg hatched. It had barely been a couple of weeks since he was hatched himself!

"I think it might be...Y'know...That," Deet said, pointing up at the faded letters, "One of those things...A Jivvin."

Gin walked back over to his backpack, opening the main compartment and looking over his grey egg. There was a big crack forming on the surface and spreading. It wasn't from dropping it, was it?

"A Jivvin?" he asked as a paw, equally as grey as as the egg, poked its way through the shell. "Is that some kind of platypus?" He looked back at the building. "And where the hell is anyone?" Gin was NOT ready for a living creature. He had never even had a pet before.

"I have no idea...Um...We might want to get inside any way...We have the maps and the um, Jivvins, so we might as well make ourselves at HOME!" Deet said, shocked as his purple and brown egg burst open, revealing a purple and brown...Thing. It had large ears, long legs, a small horn, and looked far too large to come out of the egg.

"So...This is a Jivvin, neh? What are we gonna call it?" Tishrei asked. He wanted to get rid of the egg, that was true. However, now that it had hatched...He had to consider it part of the family. He was a bit of a softy underneath it all.
