Because once you're past the Winter Solstice, the days get longer, which is to say that the sun shine longer each day.
I rejoice in the Winter Solstice, too. I heave a big sigh of relief and start to feel hopeful about getting through winter.
I also get a little apprehensive on the Summer Solstice, which for me is a few days away.
Hang in there, AC!

I get extremely changed by the weather. If it's too hot, I'm grumpy. If it's too cold, I'm depressed and grumpy. You know what? I think I'm jsut cranky all the time.
I cope by playing the Love Hina RPG which I've recently downloaded. It's sad, but I've been spending all my free time at home playing it. Mainly because we get an arse-kicking if we play games in class time at school.

Thanks for your support. So you really have a rough time with winter too? Here we are celebrating the lengthening days and you have to face them shortening. Well, you have my support.

Yes, our days will start to get shorter, but we won't really notice anything for another month.
I'll be gazing at the sunset tonight, marveling at how far north it is. I watch sunrise also on Dec 21. That's when I imagine that I'm living ten thousand years ago. I know nothing about Earth's inclination to the Sun and how Earth orbits the Sun. I worry that Sun is leaving. Do I perform a sundance to entice Her back to me? Or should I go follow Her before I lose Her for good? What did I do the last time She started to leave? I must do it again.

I think I'm being more affected this winter because we've had so much rain. Where we live we have been going through a severe drought for years (as in our city's water storage is nearly depleted) and all of a sudden winter has hit us hard. If it wasn't for the support of my kids, my wonderful friend, diamonds and pearls and a few Gaian friends things would be a lot tougher...thanks guys...*blows every one kisses* blaugh

I don't like how the Winter Blues can affect my whole thought process in that I tend to be more judgemental and tend to make mountains out of mole hills.

I'm sleepier when it's cloudy or rainy, and the humidity makes me hyper. Cold slows me down. lol

I, too become very sleepy and lethargic in winter. When the weather becomes fairer, I become very energetic and feel invincible.

I must do it again. I, too, love to watch the sun set and rise but cos I'm busy organising 3 kids for school, I seldom get the chance. I felt compelled to do a ritual of some sort to bring back the sun, but alas, I don't know any. Think I shall have to find something for next year.

Leave an offering of brightly-colored hard candy for the fairies, too. smile
