Guys, can you please use this thread to talk about concerts and not insult other peoples' taste in music? That's what the hate sticky is for.

Also, if you can say suck a d**k, I'd like to be able to use racial slurs as well. It is more likely that there are gay/homosexual people in here as Black People.

MCR isn't that bad.
Especially compared to certain other bands I won't name.

I haven't really been to any "concerts" but I've been to a lot of "shows".
The biggest would have to be The Faint/Bright Eyes.
Kid606 Enon/Thunderbirds are Now! The Locust ... and others, but god knows I can't remember them all.
Some up coming ones...
Maybe Matt and Kim... And Tegan and Sara for sure!

I've never really gotten the difference between "shows" or "gigs" or "concerts." I just use show and concert as the same thing but I've heard people claim they're different before.

I don't really get it either. I guess a "concert" is when there are seats, and they're generally bigger. "Shows" are smaller and more intimate and generally just have general admission. A "gig" is generally when YOU'RE the one performing. That's what I understand, but I could be totally off.
It's like ta-may-toe/tah-mah-toe to me. They're all concerts to me.
But if you use that definition, I've mostly been to shows too...only two concerts. (Excluding random symphonic bands/orchestras and stuff like that.)

You pretty much got it right. "Concerts" are generally big stadium events (ie- Ozzfest, Warped Tour, any really big band) that have over a couple thousand people attending, though they don't necessarily have seating. "Shows" are generally held in clubs and have under uh... I guess 2,000 people or whatever a large club holds. And gigs are your shows. At least that's how I define them. sweatdrop I usually call them shows, unless I'm talking about Ozzfest or something, but concerts & shows mean the same thing to me- you're going to see some bands/musicians play in some venue with other people.

Yeah, festivals are concerts too.
But generally I think of concerts as in an arena or stadium, whereas a show is in a club or hall or lodge or something of that sort.
I just call them all concerts 'cause I don't really care to differentiate. xp
Edit: And since I hung out with the theatre crowd enough to get myself to be a thespian by the end of senior year, when I hear the word "show" I think of a play. So it gets too confusing. It makes more sense to me to say "I'm going to a concert" than "I'm going to a show." Then they might think you're going to a movie or something. o_O; -shrug-

Yeah, I usually say concert because I think show can be a little vague, but I think I understand the difference. I'll probably just keep saying concert, though. xP
