1) baptizing into christ death is baptizing in the name of "jesus" you dont get baptized in the father, son, holyghost. you get baptized in the name of the father,son,holyghost = jesus

2) repentance is turning away from that sin it's not just saying sorry. if you're still doing that sin even if you said sorry you never truly repented unless you turned yourself away from that sin

3) speaking in tounges is neccesary. god gives people the gift to INTERPRET TOUNGES but speaking in tounges is the evidence that you have the holyghost.

this is what people are what people are getting confused with.

On the contrary, I believe that you are somewhat confused.

Jesus = God = Holy Ghost. That's why they're a trinity... if you get baptized into any of the one, you're in turn, baptized into the other two, theoretically speaking. If you're baptized into all of them, it's pretty much the same thing.

Secondly:
repent: to feel sorry, self-reproachful, or contrite for past conduct; regret or be conscience-stricken about a past action, attitude, etc.
Repenting is seeking forgiveness for your sins. Repentance is NOT giving up all sin. We are human, we are NOT perfect, we can NOT completely abolish sin from our lives. We are born into, live in, and die in sin. Show me a single human ever mentioned EVER, other than Jesus, that did not sin.

Thirdly, see Se Ga Takai's post... where on earth is this said?

1) jesus=god=holyghost is true but it was told to us to baptize in the name of jesus not holyghost not god so if your baptized in titles it's not the same as baptizing in jesus name.
Who was Christ Baptised in teh name of, again? and Where does ti say that we are to be Baptised in the Name of Christ alone, never the Holy Ghost or God?
Quote:
also we were not meant to die in our sin then what was the purpose of god coming down and being persecuted just to die in our sins.
I'm sorry, but you're going to need to clean this up...I have no idea what you're trying to say.

so ... why does Jesus command the apostles to make disciples of all nations and "baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit"?
same with jesus were baptizing in the name of these 3 titles which is jesus.

what?

only one of those names applies to Jesus.
Jesus is not the Father nor the Holy Spirit, however all three of them are the same God.

hmmm my take on all this is as follows.

asking Jesus into your heart and repenting from your sin will save you.
I believe at that moment you are baptized into the body of Christ through the spirit. And that the act of being submerged in water in the name of the Father,Son and Holy Spirit is in fact a deceleration of sorts... to tell everyone of your salvation, also it is a step of obedience, but it is not what saves you.

it was said earlier in the thread that if you go back to the thing you repented from, you never fully repented. Generally I'd agree, but because when I first came to Christ I totally threw off all that hindered me, I truly repented...but in time I got off track and fell back into the same sin. I'm not justifying sin, I'm not saying getting off track was the right thing... but I'm imperfect and prone to fall...I honestly believe that I did repent, with all my heart, When I look back I just come to the conclusion that I needed to get back on track, and repent again. Sometimes it takes believers a few tries to get it right...

oh and also I might just add this in here... I think that the most important thing in the Christian faith is a relationship with Christ...He says time and time again how ardently He wants to know us personally. heart

Where in anywhere does it even mention that speaking in Tongues is required? I can think of a few dozen scriptures that actually say the opposite. confused

you have to show me those scriptures b/c every time someone got it they always spoke in tounges and acts 2:38 tells you this
you made teh statement, you back it up. And;

Acts 2:38-39
38 And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

39 “For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.”
mentions nothing of Tongues.

no no i meant show me scriptures that prove against speaking in tounges
and read on it says with the evidence of speaking in tounges but also read acts2:3

christ was baptized in his name to set an example to the people.
in the bible in john it says to be baptized inthe name of jesus.
what i meant was if we were to die in our sins. there would be no reason for religion, god having to die on the cross to free us from sin that was his purpose for him dying on the cross to free us from sin. so if we were to automatically die in our sin's we would all just go to hell the end and we might as well just do whatever the heck we want

now what you did you created a relationship but thats not whats going to save you and let you see the kingdom of heaven. you took a step of faith but you didn't complete it so you dont have the holyghost when you just belive in your heart and ask god to be your personal savior and that wont get you to heaven. finish it and you'll get there.

Romans 10:9
That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your
heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

So, according to scripture, belief and confession is all that is required for salvation.

about speaking in tongues: In 1 Cornithians 12 it is listed among spiritual gifts.

7Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 8To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 9to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues,[a] and to still another the interpretation of tongues. 11All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines.

if it is a gift given to some (as Scripture here claims!), there is no way that it could be a requirement for salvation.

Acts 2:3-11 shows perfectly that it isn't gibberish(or the 'language of God') that they spoke in, but a simple, common tonue that they could all understand. Hey, I can speak a bit of Japanese and Spanish! I must be God's Elect!

I'll find the verses later. Planning Wedding - extremely busy.

Est = is
Non Est = is not
Pater = Father
Filius = Son
Spiritus Sanctus = Holy Spirit
Deus = Father

the members of the Trinity are distinct Persons, but all of them are One God.

also, check this out.

and Jesus is just the name He assumed on Earth. He probably has no real name, or His name would be the Son or the Word (John 1:1).

the Trinity is a mystery, not something to be completely grasped.
