[Someone wise said...
I'm mostly interested in Global-problems. Poverty, America related health/governmental/living issues, and Religious views. I also like the idea on how we're going to eventually solve the over-population of the world.
Moral issues also spark my interest, since now a days it seems as though 'the system' is lacking rational thought. Things are also happening within schools, and the younger generations. Kids lack the craving for knowledge less than they used to, and teachers aren't up for the challenge. They're completely bi-stepping the things that these kids need to know, about the past, and the future. Mindless television and what not has just gone overboard, especially the media in general.
Also, I'd like to ad, the Newspapers now today rarely have anything good to say in them. It's all negative most of the time, and I can't but help ask, does that strike anyone into reality? I mean, personally, I find it quite shocking about the multiple things that are happening everyday, in my normal life. Just today I considered something: Everytime I breath in, or am doing something completely average in my daily routine, someone far off is dying.
...You're a git.]

Personally, I'm very interested in religions of all sorts. Perhaps we should discuss various governments or issues that seem to be overlooked. Different thought processes are always encouraged.
Maybe I just want to learn things about the world. I want to see both sides of the story. Some days I'm sick of being an ignorant adolescent!

Yonder-chan naki_ryuu Famorge I would say one of the big issues of the world would be global warming, since it effects pretty much everyone on this planet. A solution could be found, just who knows how many years it will be until they will really start a full-armed solution to the problem. My sister thinks that global warming is tied to overpopulation. I hate to say that I agree on that, but I kind of do... Fossil fuels have to go, too...too bad there aren't very many other reliable resources for options. My sister (again) says that nuclear would work, except for the fact that we can't get rid of the waste and it takes forever and a half for it to not be radioactive again...and if anything goes wrong, bad, bad things will happen...but yeah. Global warming is definately a threat... Yes, I agree. There are those cars nowadays that run on hydrogen. It'd be nice if more people would decide to buy them instead of the gas-guzzlers... or at least hybrid cars that don't use as much gasoline. You just have to love that car exhaust, yes. stare The hybrid cars are good, I think, but as for hydrogen, it's not an efficient (sp?) source yet. (I think) they get hydrogen by splitting water molecules; the problem is, it takes more energy to split the water than can be produced by using the hydrogen you got from it. I'm not sure what other places usable hydrogen can be found, but if there's a better way to get it, then hydrogen would be a great answer....

sister danielson smurflet Subjects that interest me are stem cell research and the creation of the world. Oh! How did you get into it and what exactly about it that interests you? Do you find them to be major issues that need to be considered more seriously? And why do you think so? I got into stem cell research for a few reasons. One is my older sister has a PhD in molecular biology and does some projects with stem cells. Also, earlier in the year for an english persuasive essay, I did whether stem cell research is right or wrong. They are definently major issues because stem cells have the ability to cure any disease, such as cancer. However, president Bush refuses to use government money to support stem cell research because so many people are against it. They think it's immoral. As for the creation of the world, I don't really know how I got into that. I just started reading the bible one day, (I'm catholic) and I was like, "This whole creation story sounds like bs." So then I just decided to research evolution. And then from there, I kind of mixed parts of the two to form my own belief. I don't really think it's a "major issue", but I want to know what really happened. Thus, I think it could be a really good debate to get different people's views on everything.

I don't really understand why, but I've always been interested in the mind, and how it works. I even have a thread about it now in here. 3nodding

Ah, how I do love the magic of introductions.
MAJOR ISSUES: -Darfur. We could probably do something if the U.N. was more than a paper screen.
-Iraq. We stay. Instead of rooting out the insurgents, it might be better to help the people who live there and improve the country.
What I'm intrested in: -Science, woot! -Psychology -Politics (more along the ethical/philisophical lines) -some other stuff that I'll add when I think of it.

What do you think are some major issues in the world today? I would consider gas prices, global warming, Darfur, Iraq war, and so much more major issues that are going on in the world today.
why do you think they are? I think that they are major issues because it involves the lives of many people in the world who are innocent and have nothing to do with the problem.
How are some ways that we can possibly fix them? We could send money, clothes, medical aid, food, water, etc. but, of course we can't do that because if we send it in big quantities they will start to depend on us for everything they need.
What are subjects you are keen on discussing / what are topics you are interested in? The subjects that I'm interested in are Darfur, Global Warming, government, and gas prices.

Major Problems The environment and biodiversity conservation are very important in my opinion, everything in the world depends primarily on the things (apart from the sun which controls absolutely everything and if it changes we can do nothing about it, so there's no point worrying).
Solutions -I think we should start think about every new development and only allow it if it is sustainable. -I think bio-ethanol for cars, and solar power for electricity are the ways forward, as well as insulated passive solar energy for heating houses. -I think food should be as local as possible. -Most people couldn't live with this, but being vegetarian is 99% more energy efficient than eating meat, if children were brought up vegetarian or vegan, it might work long term. -We need to recycle all the rubbish we can, but reusing things is better. -We definitely need conserve as much ancient forest and coral reef as possible, it is a huge and important carbon sink. -I think that governments should be fined by the EU if they go over a certain pollution level, and this money should be used to fund environmental projects. -I'm sure there are other things that could be done as well.

What do you think are some major issues in the world today? The world? Hm. I’m British, and An islander. The most important issues to me are more Brit-centred but I suppose the problems with immigration are international. International problems? global warming. Globalisation. Immigration. Religion. Terrorisms. The Arab Israeli Conflict.
why do you think they are? Unskilled immigrants sponging off the British benefits system and health care and providing nothing back.
How are some ways that we can possibly fix them? Immigration? Convince the government to stop being such pussies.
What are subjects you are keen on discussing / what are topics you are interested in? Just about anything, I’m a very opinionated person.

Just something that might be interesting to discuss is the end of the world.
If I recall correctly, the Aztecs predicted that the sun will blow up in 12 years. My friend thinks they predicted it to be 2 years from now. However, the main point is it's soon. Do you agree with this? How do you think the world will end? When do you think it'll end? (Btw, the Aztecs have predicted a TON of things that has come true already). And it's not important, but does anyone know for sure exactly what year the Aztecs predicted the sun would blow up?
I really don't have a certain way that I think the world will end, but I think it's fun to talk about. But whatever happens, I don't want to be living when it happens!!

I really don't have a certain way that I think the world will end, but I think it's fun to talk about. But whatever happens, I don't want to be living when it happens!! I just wached a show in the History channel, that they were talking about that and how all of these past cultures have predicted the end of the world. In Rome, there was a lady that has predicted the Cold War, both World Wars, The Great Depression, and so many other things including the end of the world. She wrote that it would happen, December 12, 2012. But, it's not going to completely just end. The Earth's poles, as we know them, will be where the equater is now. It could cause quakes, tsunamis, and other devastating things happening all around the world.
