The tiny horse spirit, Hoshi, flew under a fallen log away from the warring brothers in terror. She had been foraging for food when they had begun fighting and she had nearly been caught in the middle. She drifted up to a hole in the log where she could watch the brothers safely.

Hoshi gasped at how the brother Ying was being held back by another opponent who didn't belong in this battle. She summoned her courage and beat her small feathery wing, whizzing up to the new attacker. She kicked at his face with her tiny hooves and nipped his exposed skin, attempting to make him end his assault.
