His decision makes the death of a Hellsing head possible, but he himself does not kill the head.
Perhaps just a matter of semantics, but as we will write it, the aforementioned decision locks him down... I think actually doing the killing of a Hellsing head might just kill him.
Interesting theory.
And the possible excuse about Richard?
Well, legally, the headship might have been Integra's, but magic can be fickle, especially, from what I understand, Blood Magic, which is (arguably) what fuels the seals.
Neither of the possibilities (Richard, Integra) had done their initiation magic to key the sigls Alucard wears to themselves yet.
It was a grey area, Alucard made a choice to help Integra, and the rest is history.
Choices.

Seriously, though, if I MUST destroy my own childlike delusions...I bet you it's something really simple that we won't think of...Like garlic. xP
Burning his coffin would just piss him off. Burning him wouldn't work. Integra dying...maybe, but I think he would just be free. Most likely, he'll die when he damn well feels like it and when Integra wants him to...I hope. *throws security blanket over head and refuses to listen anymore*

Interesting thoughts there on why he didn't kill Richard. Personally, I think it could be from be bond, but I think it was more because he wanted Integra to kill the traitor. He knew it would help her become a "stronger" (in his view) and more mature leader.
I always wonder what he would have done if she hadn't killed Richard... Would he have the same respect for her? Probably not.

After all, there's no proof that the Hellsings have to be alive for him to survive. True, it may be the case, but there's still no real hard evidence.

ninja Well, from what my friend has told me, the reason he's stayed alive so long is because he sacrifices the souls of his familiars when hurt to a certain point. ninja

I remember Alucard mentioning the only thing that can truely kill a monster is a man. ....In my opinion, I believe Integra knows the key to what can truely destroy Alucard, probably for good. I have a feeling Alucard (and probably others) are not gonna make it. Though I wish it not to happen, but if it must... it must... I take it back on Alucard's part on 'not making it'. He's lived so long, and I highly doubt he'd "sacrafice" to save the others, but if he's gonna go down, he's taking someone with him. Which would either be The Major, Anderson, or Maxwell. Perhaps all of them. Who knows... I'm not even sure if I'm making sense anymore. ;.;

Let's see, an Undead that has been built of power for a millenium and is also channeled by God....I would say Impossible. But according to a few outside Vs. Thread debates, Characters like Spawn or Tetsuo(Akira) can get him, in most people's view. The OA is always inaacurate and Crappy, they mostly of course reduced Characters to the point where they are weak and appear to do nothing.
Evidence: The "Round table Conference" didn't do anything when Jan Valentine Came in, in the OA, but in the OVA they actually showed they weren't weak, by blowing Jan out the room.

If her shooting him with special bullets and locking down his powers wouldn't kill him (I think it would) then quite likely she does know a sure fire way that we haven't been told of. It would only make sense considering her confidence in controlling him and her honor bound duty to protect Crown, Country and Church even from Alucard himself.

I actually think if you threw him into the ocean that would kill him. Since, ya know, Rip tried it but failed.
The other one would be that Integra can kill him somehow. Only a human can kill a monster. Plus she's his master and all. Don't know if she could do it though. As in, I'm not sure she could bring herself to kill him.

I'll have to look over the scene between Alucard and Rip again, at some point. I don't recall her trying to throw him overboard off hand. As to if it would kill him...I'm not sure. I think a vampire thrown into an ocean would "drown" in the sense that they'd become inactive and unable to help themselves, but once washed ashore somewhere they could revive, albeit very very blood thirsty.
