Wind_Of_Faith GemEncrustedEarth Wind_Of_Faith "Should women be allowed in the military, even though relationships may start and cause distractions?" Considering that I'm an American, isn't America the land of the free? Why would you purposely deny the right to females to join the military? It would be similar to denying men the right to be nurses. Relationships will start when they start and it's pretty hard to stop them. I never said I didn't want women to be in the military, the question was simply brought up in the debate and I wanted something other than the usual "Women should be able to be the military for they have the same right about... blah blah..." I simply wanted something to actually prove that men wont start being "distracted" by others (that including men) I am not against women, so please don't point at me Yes, this is supposely the land of the free, but what kind of land of the free kicks out its own people? Not much "land of the free" there? Anyway, thats off topic... The point of the question is that people actually get distracted from whatever they are doing because of relationships, and that has been a case for soldiers in the army I am not against women going there, just pointing out what some guy said to prove that women aren't suppose to go to war But had anyone pointed the bad side of all this? Now that women work they cannot attend their children, which can be bad for they don't know what the kids are doing, weither it is bad or good. There are more, but I just leave it as that... For me, the question shouldn't be 'will men be distracted by women?' but "If men are distracted by women - why must the women take the blame - why must it be their fault?" Unless they're going out of their way to try and 'distract' men, they shouldn't get the blame, or the 'punishment' of not being allowed on the frontline. If the men are distracted it's their problem and their fault, not the woman's.
As for women working meaning they "can't attend their children". I'd just point out that children to in fact, have two biological parents - one of each gender. Men working means they cant attend to their child either. The idea that men should work and women stay at home is a social factor, not a biological one.

Sweeties, consider this: Women give birth to new life, women have been known to outwit men, women have been known to use their barin more than muscle and therefore overwhelm men of brute force during battle, women are more flexible and agile by nature, and hear this: women can multi ask at a greater level than men (esearch has shown this). Now answer me this, who is the greater sex, male or female? domokun

There are very few instances of women overwhelming men in battle - can you give many examples? Brute force is needed every now and then, hard labour is needed to get certain things done. Men are better at that.

Men can't do as many things, but they're good at what they can do. If women were so great, why do they get walked all over by men? Is that what their hearts truly desire? Enlighten me. Women are better/kinder people (on average), men are stronger, more successful people (on average). We've got our pros and cons, but it basically comes down to a matter of opinion (Like I said before). I prefer women though, but that might have something to do with the fact that I also desire them, unlike men.

Personally I don't think either sex is better. Certain people may gain my respect more then others but this is down to that individual, their knowledge, actions etc... gender doesn't come into it for me. I wouldn't say that the majority of women are just average at what they do while the majority of men are good at what they do. I think it really depends on the individual and the task at hand. I know women who are great at their jobs and men who are useless at theirs. As has been said each gender will have their strengths and weaknesses. On average women may not be as good at certain jobs as men are, but then on average men may not be as good at other jobs as women are. As for women getting walked all over by men, while it may be true in some cases it isn't always. Most of the women that live near me would never let themselves be walked over. Of course, there are always some naturally submissive people, though that goes both ways. A lot of men let themselves be walked all over by women.

I can't prove what I say, but in my eyes, Men are extremely stubborn because of pride, and they use that to motivate themselves if nothing else will. Obviously, Women have pride too, but Men have way more testosterone and strive to be better than everyone else. But this subject is just cr-p. It's like deciding who you love more, your Mother or your Father. For the majority of us, we love them both, so that should be enough and we shouldn't need to decide on one or the other. But I truly believe the only reason I prefer females is because of Mother Nature doing her part to keep existence going, and as much as we might like to deny it, you can't turn your back on what you REALLY are. All you can do is find different ways to satisfy the same primal instincts.

Also, it was said that women need men to get pregnant...with all the advances in DNA decoding and cloning, we might be able to engineer diverse genes and simulate sperm in a way so that the male race can be eradicated because now we no longer need them to become impregnated...mua ha ha humanity can live on without your gender. No more oppression by the users of brute force. Just kidding, but that would be pretty cool.

I suppose that is true, I've certainly seen men competing against each other over the stupidest things. razz But I think many women also have the same desires to be the best, they just display this in different, often less obvious ways. As for the subject, I kind of agree with you there. I don't think there will ever be a definite answer. Certain people may favor a specific gender, but it's just personal preference really.

I'm one of those people who is into equal worth if not equal in all abilities. Me, I'm very intelligent and all that, but I'm not observant. It all balances out. It's true that men are typically stronger naturally, but any woman can become as strong or stronger than most men (but I think that female bodybuilders utterly destroy their feminine beauty; I want to vomit everytime I see one).
My Dad once told me one of the key differences between men and women. Men rely a great deal on logic, while women are generally more emotional and intuitional. This has to do with women typically being the nurturing parent while men were the one's who kicked the kid out the door when he was old enough. Men are rational, women are emotional. It balances out, and if we only had one, our world would have been f***ed a long time ago.
*Note surprised nce again, this is only generally. Some women are far more rational, while many men are more emotional. This is just the sytem default of human behavior.
**I won't be coming back to this topic, it's too far along. But if you find my idea interesting, let me know and we can start a new topic smile

I'm a female who wants to pursue a career in science - and sometimes I get strange looks for that, but why go after me and not say, someone who is what they call "Metrosexual"? I like to study and experiment, those guys obsess over hair and the like. It all balances out in the end too. I'd like to point out the statistical average: In the USA, women live approximately 7 years longer than men. This here's a good article. Why Women Live Longer than MenBut you know what? This debate's gone on since the dawn of time. Seriously. I bet the first female organisim and the first male organisim fought over it (or Adam and Eve, whichever way you prefer). At least it's funny.

Personally, I think men and women are equal. Both are capable of completing the same task. They just take a different course and action of doing it. Women TEND to be more sensible, not all the time though. Men tend to just order people around in a way. But either or, the job gets done.

I strongly disagree with this theory. With my opinion, I have conducted reasons of course. Firstly, although men are built more muscular and can perform heavy jobs with less difficulty, women can endure more pain. This is a proven fact; so, which is better when put into comparsion? A men with great strenght, or a women with great endurance? Perspectives of different people can decide this. Furthermore, the widely known fact: women live longer. So, although they may not live that much longer, the time period they have can be a huge advantage against the males. For instance, in a few years, an elderly female can perhaps educate youngsters about the morals of life. This can impact their life positively. So, in conclusion, women are just as superior as men, if not better. Yet, that is solely my opinion in this issue. My opinion has no relationship to be being a female, although it did assist in my knowledge about the gender.

Disregarding all previous posts because I'm too lazy to read them, I believe women and men are equal but in different ways.
Men are generally stronger and more capable, I read somewhere about men being able to build muscle easier.
Women I believe are generally smarter. This being said, they also understand other people better, meaning they make good parents.
Many girls at my school, and some guys, say their gender is better in opposite of my beliefs. The guys say they are smarter (With worse grades, and outnumbered in my advanced classes.) whereas the girls say they're stronger. There are also a couple of girls who say girls are better overall and are Feminazis or whatever.
Hope I helped!

It's not that one gender is better (at anything) than the other. They both tend to accomplish similar tasks with about the same rate of efficiency. It's just that women do things differently than men do.
Women don't have the muscular bulk that men do, so in order to do something like rearrange the living room we call friends over to help, whereas men can just do the entire job on their own.
Or in the case of "why don't men ever ask for directions?" The answer is rather simple. It's because it doesn't help them. Where women navigate by landmarks ("Shauna's house is only two blocks down from the Home Depot.") men have a sort of internal compass. They know where they're going and where they are and simply go from point a to point b. If they lose track of their compass, they get lost. Asking for directions doesn't help because they already know where they're going, they need to know where they ARE so they can reorient themselves and get back on track to their destination.
Difference doesn't necessarily imply better/worse at something. The results are generally the same, the methodology is the only thing that really differs.
