Night was slowly turning into day. The glittering stars faded into ivory clouds still dark with sleep. Nagisa had accidently left the window open and I was freezing. Good thing the pillow was still there uner me or I would have shivered myself off the side of the bed. Footsteps softly sounded in the chill twilight air. A golden tail swished beside my window. A large finger bent down to close the glass. "Nagisa is so hopeless," Kallos's voice sighed. I spent a lot of energy to preform a single bounce to let him know I was listening. His gold eyes sparkled. "I check up on him at night. Worry," was all the explaination I got from him before he continued his way around the house to check on Nagisa. I couldn't wait to see just what the new day would bring. Each morning held a surprize. I stared at the stars awaiting the day to break. I hardly noticed Kallos leave as the first ray of the newborn sun shot across the sky lighting the dim clouds and splashing the sky with neon colors.

As the day went on, the clouds grew dark. A sound ripped threw the air after each flash of light. I was frightened. Nagisa ran into the room. He flopped down beside me. "It's ok," he wispered to me. "Look Zak, you're first rainstorm. I was afraid that you would be scared," he laughed. Again the flash tore the steel grey cloud. Again the roaring sound followed it. I was scared, but with Nagisa there, I soon calmed. "Zak," he said to me, "a rainbow always follows a storm." Then he fell into a silence as the rain came splashing to the sodden earth.

Nagisa was right. A rainbow did magically appear after the storm. Nagisa was cooking, so I was alone. The colors of the rainbow took what breath I had away. There were no words to describe this. I could only stare. "You know," Nagisa's voice said from behind me, "I found you under a rainbow. That's why I say you are my treasure." His cool hand rubbed my surface. "I can't wait to see you." He left to the sound of the teapot boiling. My magic surged. Was this the day?

The orb's surface shattered like the shell of an egg. All my magic, all my being, pulled together to give me a body of my own. I reached out with my new hand. I took my first breath of sharp, cold air. I opened my eyes for the first time. My voice was harsh and hoarse, but still I called out a single word. "Hello?" Nagi rushed into the room almost tripping over himself. He stared at me with wide red eyes. The orb that had been my prison forever reformed to the original state it had been in all that time I was inside. It still help most of my magic. My green locks fell in my face. "Zak?" Nagi gasped. I nodded and tightly embraced him, the one who watched me all this time.

The mirror was a strange thing to me. Nagisa had said that the person staring back at me was me. I didn't know weither to believe him or not. I sat before the strange glass staring at the person who was suppossed to be me. I touched my jade colored hair. It was braided in a net-like fashion and it hung down like a cape across my back. It was comfortable. I blinked my acid green eyes and smiled. "Immelmann," I sighed. It was my own little term of affection. That and the name Nagisa sometimes calles Kallos and me. Tovarish. I liked the sound of those words. A strange smell reached my fresh senses. What was it? I went blankly down the hall and found something on the window. White smoke rose from it and the smoke smell good. Something within me growled. I clutched my stomach. "Looks like you're hungry," Nagisa laughed from behind me. He placed a comforting hand on my shoulder, "Sorry if I worried you. I went to check up on Kallos. You know how he worries." I pointed to the thing on the window. "What is that?" I asked him in my sweet, songlike voice. It wasn't raspy anymore. "A pie," he laughed, "do you want to share it?" I nodded. "Sit down. It's almost ready. Zak...you look beautiful." I sat.

The pie tasted amazing. The sticky blueberry juice stained my lips and fingers. Nagisa was left to clean up my mess. He told me to go out and play. The sun was so warm. Sweat beaded on my brow. I was still getting used to the outside world. It was so strange at times. I lay on the roof just staring at the vast expanse before me. Sky. That's what it was called, yes? The bright light in the sky burned my acid greens eyes so harshly that tear soon filled them. A ivory cloud drifted to cover the sun. I had no idea what time it was. I fell asleep on the roof, the taste of the blueberry pie stuck in my mouth.

A cold shadow fell over me as a bird flew past. I opened my blurry sleep-filled eyes to stare. "Did you know that one day," Nagisa suddenly said causing me to jump, "you will look like that to me. I will always be so small." His eyes were bright with tears. I touched his shoulder gently and he leaned into my chest. "Can I stay here for a while?" he asked me. I numbly nodded. He tangled his small hands into my lime green braids. "Thank you Zak. I'm really glad we are together. You....you may just be my best friend. I'm glad you...are so nice to me," he breathed. He closed his eyes and his breathing deepened. He fell alseep. I saw Kallos off in the distance. His golden hair and bronze skin glowed in the sun. He saw us and waved before heading towards the house. His booming footsteps trembled in the air. He knelt beside the house. "I see you're taking care of him. That is good," he wispered quietly. His gold eyes seemed to smile. "Why are you so big?" I asked him. His expression was almost as if he were laughing. "I am not big. You two are just small. One day you, Zak, will be just as big as me. Nagisa sees this and you soon will too. I'll let him rest. Say a greeting for me. I'll be back later," Kallos stated before almost drifting past the house. He seemed to disappear into the haze of the coming twilight. A cold wind blew and Nagisa started to snore.
