Best game of all time for me would have to be Star Ocean 2nd Story. I loved that it had so much to do in the game. Played it still haven't beaten it the last time I attempted I just couldn't beat the last boss. I've tried playing through on both sides of the story and right now have it so between both I have all characters also I play them story bit at a time. Its really cool that way.

While Ocarina of Time is an awesome game, I'd have to say my favourite of all time is Baldur's Gate 2 and it's expansion for the PC.

While it uses AD&D 2nd Edition Rules, the story scope is rather massive. It literally kept me sucked into the game for months to finish it.

It's easy to keep track of what you need to do next, and there are literally hundreds of side quests to explore. Most of them have multiple ways to finish these little quests that do have an impact on the game and how other NPC's treat you. There are even specific quests for specific classes.

The combat is real time strategy, but you can pause it and give commands, as you control 6 characters.

So, while everyone goes with consoles, mine is on the PC. You can probably find it in a bargain bin as the game is about 7 years old now for about 15 bucks. If you're a huge RPG fan that loves AD&D, I recommend it.

Some really outstanding games:

Metroid Prime: Amazing graphics (especially for cube) and awesome gameplay.

Super Paper Mario: Innovation to the limits, half 2D, half 3D platformer. (Note: 2D+3D is not 2.5D, that's something else)

Super Mario Bros: For starting something we all love. (Don't deny it)

Super Mario World: For Perfecting the thing that was started that we all love.

Mario 64: For starting something new with the thing we all love.
I have an analogy here, which I hope becomes completed as planned. SMB is to SMW as SM64 is to (Hopefully Galaxy)

New Super Mario Brothers: For bringing back what we really needed in the GC's Mario time of despair. And for making an awesome Mario multi-player that has used up a whole lot of time I could have spent sitting in a corner doing nothing.

As you can tell, I'm a Mario fan. But wait! There's one more!

Red Steel: For giving me a better reason to really really want Metroid Prime 3 Corruption.

Just kidding, there's even more.

Link to the Past: For making us like the Dark Ages. And explosives. And make us believe in fairies.

Ocarina of Time: For doing the above in a whole new way.

Zelda is good, had to put something in there.

And last, but not least, TimeSplitters 2: A truly awesome game, both single player/Co-op, and multi-player, without taking it all to seriously. Is it possible to explain how fun it is to be the gingerbread man, while hunting down dinosaurs, monkeys, and zombies with a rocket launcher?

Elder Scrolls Oblivion
Klonoa Door to Phantomile
All Final Fantasy

And last but not least.... OKAMI. I love that game to death.

Ocarina of Time will always have a special place in my heart for being the first truly amazing game I played. Also really the only game I beat 100% and then kept playing because it was that amazing.

More recently, though, I can't stop playing Oblivion. Still. It's really an amazing game. And Okami is worth a play-through, even if it is an easy game. You get to play as Amaterasu, it's gotta be worth it.

The Metal Gear series.

Metal Gear
Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake
Metal Gear Solid
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons Of Liberty
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
Metal Gear Solid Portable

The game where you take on a terrorist organization and the threat of nuclear embargo using the awesome power of a cardboard box.

Cant comment on number 4 yet... havent played it. I will soon though.

ZORK 3! OLD SCHOOL! lol, okay so thats a text based Apple game, I really don't claim any game as outstanding, sure some are innovative for their time but few are TRULY remarkable nowadays. even the games that get great reviews from gamespot, IGN, EGM, etc... are mostly hype and pretty graphics....

I'd liked Final Fantasy, not 10, 12 or even the rerelase of FF, no, the original NES one. I still remember sitting on my bed trying to get out of the ice caves with all my party Ko'd except a MP-less white mage. That was fun... then later doing the whitemage challenge (defeat entire game with all white mages, don't upgrade to white wizard)

Even FFtactics (not that god-awful tactics advance), rate higher than most with me. Its art was eye catching wthout taking over the game, it had an indepth story and characters you tended to care about. (I kept Mustadio in my party even though he was next to useless cause I liked the bugger)

think I'm biased towards Final Fantasy, well #3 on my list isn't an FF, its not even an RPG..... Good ol classic Mario Kart for the SNES. when released it was nice and fairly innovative...though sadly its type are a dime a dozen now. Not much can beat throwing Toad screaming along the track zipping past the slower bowser and peach

and finnally, RHapsody: a musical adventure, The music is just addictive. its a good RPG with fun characters and an interesting story... gameplay is okay, but the music.... It gets stuck in your head.

Opening (ignore the footgae, someone made a montage, but the song is intact) http://youtube.com/watch?v=abn7ePPfSr4

Villians song (see above) http://youtube.com/watch?v=m9b2EX-qU3Y

Elder Scrolls: Oblivion... on my 360 :3

The graphics are amazing (the textures are some of the best I've seen, although the faces sometimes annoy me), the light reflection is definitely the best I've seen (*drools at Amber Cuirass in sunlight), the gameplay is endless (so many quests and also expansion packs like Shivering Isles coming out continously, great main plot, and great for wasting time (my favourite waste of time is putting on my Grey Cowl, paralizing people in their beds while they sleep, stealing their clothes and everything on them, then walking out and casually talking to the guards who have come running into the house, oblivious to what I just did).
