Hi!
Authors:
Poppy Z. Brite. I absolutely adore her (she's definitely not for everyone though). Exquisite Corpse and Liquor (and sequels) were good, but my two favorites are probably...Lost Souls and Drawing Blood. Julie Anne Peters Alex Sanchez (most famous for his Rainbow Boys series. Did you guys know there's a movie? It's Thai. I've put a link in the Movie subforum, if anyone's interested.)
Books:
Boy Meets Boy by David Levithan A Density of Souls by Christopher Rice (Anne Rice's son) The Snow Garden by Christopher Rice The Last Herald Mage Trilogy by Mercedes Lackey (Book One: Magic's Pawn, Book Two: Magic's Promise, Book Three: Magic's Price) The Nightrunner Series by Lynn Flewelling (Book One: Luck in the Shadows, Book Two: Stalking Darkness, Book Three: Traitor's Moon) Totally Joe by James Howe Geography Club by Brent Hartinger (the sequel, Order of the Poison Oak is probably good too, but I can never find it!) Swordspoint by Ellen Kushner The Fall of the Kings by Ellen Kushner and Delia Sherman Fire from Heaven by Mary Renault (she's good if you like historical fiction, particularly that pertaining to Alexander the Great) The Persian Boy by Mary Renault Hard Love by Ellen Wittlinger Desert Sons and sequel, Into This World We're Thrown by Mark Kendrick Comfort and Joy by Jim Grimsley (you might also try its prequel Winter Birds, though it has nothing to do with homosexuality. Instead, it focuses on one of Comfort and Joy's main characters as a child- look it up on amazon.com for proper detail)
Note: Some of these books focus on the characters being gay (the stress of hiding, the fear of being found out, coming out, etc.); others are just regular stories, where the characters just so happen to be gay (it's not the focus).
Enjoy! I hope you (whoever you are!) find something you like! ^_^

Also, thanks everyone for your recs!! *has written them down* mrgreen Heehee!

My favorites so far:
Fantasy The God Eaters by Jesse Hajicek Luck in the Shadows by Lynn Flewelling --- Stalking Darkness --- Traitor's Moon The Fire's Stone by Tanya Huff
Historical Brethren: Raised by Wolves by W. A. Hoffman Ransom by Lee Rowan --- Winds of Change Discreet Young Gentleman by M. J. Pearson A Gentleman of Substance by Julia Talbot
Contemporary Almost Like Being in Love by Steve Kluger Off the Record by Matthew Haldeman-Time Racing the Moon by B. A. Tortuga The Lodger by Drew Gummerson
Horror Drawing Blood by Poppy Z. Brite
All are romantic, all have happy, satisfying endings and awsome characters, and most have a good amount of action and/or adventure and at least some humour. But the best by far are The God Eaters, Brethren and Almost Like Being In Love.

Clockwork Umbrella Middlesex by Jeffry Eugenides is an absolute favorite of mine, I suggest it be read. :3 That's an amazing book, it's what got me interested into trans rights and stuff, it made me a lot less closed minded, and one of the first LGBT books I ever read. Interestingly it was my mum who read it first, and suggested it to me 3nodding

Quote: The Realm of Possibility - David Levithan I know I quoted this earlier, but it's not really about GLBT characters... there's a couple, but it focuses on 20 different characters in the same high school, and it's written in verse, so the amount of GLBT pagetime is like an eighth of the book or something. As for Born Confused, I don't think it's a LGBT novel... I think it's got more to do with Indian/Hindi themes, but I haven't read it, so I wouldn't know. Also, another recommendation: Kissing Kate by Lauren Myracle (been reprinted recently, so it's easier to find in bookstores now!) and Getting It by Alex Sanchez. And Alex has a new book out in October called The God Box about gay Christians. He's sending me an ARC to review for my book site. It should be really good!
