Ditto, I always want to compare and contrast; such things lead to a refined government that takes its ideas from a range of governments and how well they've worked.

Even before the Civil-Rights movement there were many peoples seeking to free themselves from oppression, and many had socialist views. John Brown is an example, he lead the raid on Harper's Ferry. There are also many Native-American groups that have sprung-up, such as AIM: American Indian Movement. Indigenous peoples are a major part in revolutions, they are always oppressed. I think we should have one sub-forum for all the anti-oppression movements.

A help section that lists helpful websites listing: Worldwide communist organizations, Communist/Socialist writers and writings, and current news. I only know of two, but are there any more? Also included could be an introduction into the guild and ease newcomers into the flow of things.

I would like to suggest a section for organized American Socialism under Lincoln, Debs, and the Roosevelts.

Interesting, yeah I've thought about such a thing, although I have to say there's a lot of hate towards the Roosevelts in the movement. I'm pretty sure you don't mean Teddy Roosevelt though, cause he was the daddy of American imperialism and had a tendency to slaughter innocents en masse. FDR is a different story though, some love him for stopping the great depression and creating great things like the public works act, and, he was arguably the best US president in history but others blame him for stopping a revolution. During the depression there was a lot of mobilization, and it was looking like a socialist revolution, and then it died. I have to say I like the idea though, and there were other socialists in the US, as well as communists of varying degree, from the originals (Debs, the father of US socialism in that he was the first to run a successful party) to the anarchists (Chomsky, etc.) the fighters of the more recent past (Robert F. Williams, Don West, Huey P. Newton, Joe Hill etc.) to the currents (Mumia, etc.). But there are some problems with this-
1) Who will run it, and how? Volunteer if you're willing, it is a comittment but based on your posting in the guild I trust you to follow through comrade. I never really buy anything here so I'm more then willing to pay for it with my surplus of gold.
2) List some people you'd put on, we can brainstorm here or somewhere else within the guild.
3) We aren't an exclusivly American guild, granted, most of our members are in the US, we have some who are in Australia, a few in Canada, one or two in Poland and a few in Britain (our former captain was located there), so it'd be best to also say why it matters globally. I like the idea, but is another sub-forum what we need? I may get rid of one to make room. We'll vote though, this is a democratic guild.

Out of curiosity, do you agree with the FDR's handling of the Business Plot? And Theodore Roosevelt had to be more pushy in the Caribbean do to German attempts to take over some countries there.

What's with all the justification of the US while anger at the Soviets and China? He was a murderor, an ultra-capitalist and an imperialist. What gives the US any more right to take over those islands then Germany? If Germany wants it, it has nothing to do with the US, but only with the people of those islands and whoever they want to concern with it.
On the business plot I'm not sure what you mean. From what I know it was discovered and a council handled it. I'm against what that council became (the council on un-american activities). Please clarify.

I don't know much about Technocracy, but I sure would like to.
I'm not totally sure if it's a kind of socialism, but I propose it as a subcathegory and if I'm wrong, well then I am mrgreen

I propose a sub-forum for Non-Marxian socialism such as traditional socialism, democratic socialism, social democracy, utopian socialism, fascism, market socialism and any other original socialist systems or theories members might have.
As for technocracy, technocracy refers to a number of different political concepts. Most commonly it is associated with assigning the "most qualified" individuals in a given field to head the government bureaus, agencies and companies that deal with such. It is sometimes contrasted with democracy, though the two aren't mutually exclusive as there can be a representative democratic system in which the electorate can elect one of a few "qualified" candidates for a position, though technocrats are usually appointed to their positions. The second definition refers to a more unique political and economic system that is managed by scientists and intellectuals, which based society and the economy off of such as opposed to the pure market or economic planning. I don't know much about this myself though, unfortunately.
