I had a healer heard a child scream and went running to help. Found a pack of jackal dog like things who turned on her. She was eaten live down to like 1 hit point when the rest of the group managed to save her. I didn't need any DM to tell me she had a problem with dogs after that....

Ow. That's a good way for a character to develope a phobia. It's also a good reason to pair compassionate characters with bodyguards.

So, anyone else got a 'worst ever'? Or a 'second worst ever'? Or just a 'rather unpleasant to experience, but not so bad as to deserve some sort of a title'? Don't feel bad about angsting. This is the internet, after all.

I was DMing last game and managed to place explosive runes on 2 of the 5 members. Then with out even knowing what was going on, she was fighting the caster in melee when she spoke the words on the inside of her breast plate. sad by by armor, 6d6 dmg to her un-blockable, and 6d6 + 2d4 shrapnal dmg to opponent also unblockable. Needless to say he died rather painfully.

You and that spell. I'm gonna have to be exceptionally careful if I ever join a game with you as a mage.
Also, I'd imagine that a character could reflex save for half against explosive-runes-induced shrapnel. but that's just me being nitpicky.

The warrior was kinda dropped on the mage there for no reflex for the boom. Kinda hard to dodge when you are up on a small roof (Total space is 20 feet and its a 40 foot drop).

The group consisted of a Fighter(13)/Cleric(1) Elf, A Dragon EL 14, A Level 13 Dwarven Fighter with a Large Rifle. (2d6 dmg And has to reload after each shot), A Gnome Level Fighter(13)/Bard(1) Pistol user, and Midian an Cleric(10)/Divine Agent(10) that was reduced to Divine Agent(10) with no levels of cleric. God damn Wheel of Fortune!!!! (Lost artifact Item)
Midian already Nuked in 3 rounds a CR 15 Balor with over 20 character levels, and 60 Monster levels. sad (thats 2055 hp in 3 rounds ... 14 points first round, 2037 the second round (By using the 3rd edition spell Harm), then 14 points the third round. sad

My Worst Ever...
Joined the military. Lost contact with almost all of my HS friends. See my family maybe twice a year (If I'm lucky to be home that year...), and to top it all off, I created a character with one of those friends that I would really like to play! But he works nights while I work days! So getting a hold of him is becoming a pain in the

Ouch. That's really harsh. I can't help much with the military thing, but if you can convince your friend to join gaia, I'm sure you could run a campaign here on Entropic Forge. The wonderful thing about play-by-post is that not everyone has to be online at the same time.
