Lord Charlemain Richards Now here's a thread the guild can really use. This is a thread for the discussion of strange events and occurences, with or without explaination, or, occasionally, with several, equally improbable explations. Oh, look. Small print. This thread is also reedeemable for weird news stories. Or maybe that should be another thread. And, of course, to make fun of Mulder, Scully, and Gino. *points to initial post* I see strange news stories, but where is the making fun of Mulder, Scully, and Gino? I was sure I would be seeing posts about Gaia's magical bishie water, but there are none. Total ripoff. I wanted to point out that the magical bishie water must be real if Gaia contains a spastic dorky vampire (vampires being, by default, hot - unless Hollywood gets to them and makes them ugly for horror purposes, of course). Wait... is Ian a vampire, or is he more like a non-violent, nerdy, talks-to-cats version of Blade? *headdesk* I think I'll go read more strange news stories now. They kill less brain cells than my current line of thought.

Kittywitch Is Blade another half-vampire vampire hunter, like D? I'm pretty culturily illerate when it comes to mainsteam. Yes, but in reference to Ian, I was talking more about the half-vampire part, and the treatments supressing his vampirism that the vampire hunter part. I can't imagine Ian making a very good vampire hunter. sweatdrop

This is true. Which means that if he was being raised to hunt vampires and run a store with a talking cat as a cover, he'd just be a big dissapointment. I can see that, actually, in the trial, he didn't seem to be getting high marks for self-esteem. If he was being groomed to hunt vampires, but he just liked watching the store, he'd probably be told he was a failure almost constantly.

Kittywitch ...If he was being groomed to hunt vampires, but he just liked watching the store, he'd probably be told he was a failure almost constantly. Poor Ian. I could see that happening, actually (specifically, the quoted part). The G-Team / G-Force / G-something-I-forget-the-name-of could have wanted him to be an amazing vampire hunter in the manner of Blade, or just a general asset to their team, but then he decides he'd rather run a clothing store. They'd be disappointed. Probably decide he was a failure. Though it'd be cool if they were grooming him to be part of the team, he utterly refused and decided to run the store instead, but was still perfectly capable in the former role even though being a shopkeeper is what he wanted to do (rather than a cover or something; the Ian we know being a cover would suck to a degree I don't even want to put into words). That'd be pretty amazing. I mean, the only time he's ever done anything even remotely violent, the butler ended up with... what was it?... needing a neck brace and having to have his jaw temporarily wired shut I believe. From one punch. Impressive... ^_^

*pokes thread back to life*
Does anyone think Ian would make even a passable vampire hunter? Does anyone believe in Isle de Gambino's so-called "magical bishie water". Show of hands, who says this Halloween is vampires?

Okay, so it's kind of obvious that there will be vampires this Halloween. It's still awesome. Also, with the various instances of creepy hairy-ness on the parts of the Gambino's (Johnny K.'s nasty patch of chest fur, Gino's magical gravity-defying ponytail of bishie-ness, and both of their giant eyebrows) it's entirely possible that we could have a vampires vs. werewolves plotline. Not all that likely, true, but how cool would that be?

Werewolves would be cool, yes... And there is no doubt that the Gambinos have scary scary hair fur stuff. But didn't Gino's hair have to do with the fact, he, his father, and the G-Virus were sharing a body? Doesn't that make him, like a psudeo-zombie? Or at least a carrier?
Everybody, Gino is the Typiod Mary of zombies!

Kittywitch, you've over-reacting and jumping to conclusions. The zombie-ism was the result of living and dead cells merging, and grombie-ism was from a merger between Gaians and grunnies. Two humans being merged should be a relatively safe use of the G-virus, comparatively speaking. Hm... so maybe it's just Johnny who is scarily hairy mostly, with Gino just inheriting his pronounced eyebrows?
Edit: Oh, and there's a new manga. Werewolves don't look overwelmingly likely, despite Johnny's furriness.

Vegitarian RobotsIt’s science fiction meets Victorian technology. The US military may be going a bit steampunk by funding the development of a robot that gathers its own fuel by foraging. The robot would run on biomass – like wood leaves or grass – or whatever other fuel source it could gather by itself, which would in turn power its own steam engine. From the Economist article ‘Vegetarian robots: Munching machines’: The EATR uses a robotic arm to gather and prepare vegetation, which it feeds through a shredder into a centrifugal combustion chamber, where it is ignited and then heats a series of coils. The coils contain deionised water (to stop them from furring up like a kettle). As the water inside the coils is superheated the steam is piped to a radial steam engine, which consists of six pistons. The steam rotates the pistons, driving a generator which produces electricity. This is stored in batteries that power the electric motors which drive the EATR along. The Energetically Autonomous Tactical Robot (EATR) could perform long and dangerous military reconnaissance missions without depending on humans for refueling. It could also prove useful in forestry and agriculture. Truth imitating fiction? In author Maggie Gee’s speculative fiction work The Ice People (199 cool – a novel in which a global warming scenario is followed by an ice age – cute little feathered robots called ‘doves’ power themselves by eating organic matter including grass. Steampunk king China Miélville’s Perdido Street Station (2000) also features steam-powered robots called ‘constructs’. by Graham Land EATR

Ninjas rescue Student from Muggers * From: news.com.au * May 20, 2010 3:41AM A STUDENT has been saved from a vicious assault - not by the boys in blue but the men in black. Ninjas scared off three thugs who had the misfortune to attack the 27-year-old medical student outside their warrior school. The German exchange student had been targeted by the men while he was riding the late-night train home, The Sydney Morning Herald reported. They demanded he give them his wallet but when he refused and got off the train, they followed. They pounced as he made his way through a dark alley in Sydney's west. They grabbed his phone and iPod and kicked him while he lay on the ground. However, the men were spotted by a member of a nearby dojo. Start of sidebar. Skip to end of sidebar. On seeing the ninjas, the men fled, only to be later arrested by police. "You should have seen their faces when they saw us in ninja gear coming towards them," the school's sensei, Kaylan Soto, told the Herald. They also failed to notice a ninja, Nathan Smith, standing in the shadows outside the dojo. Mr Smith immediately alerted his sensei, or teacher. Another ninja, Steve Ashley, said: "It was probably the worst place in Sydney where they could have taken him."
