i thought that doyle was really cool and forhimto die off in the first season sucked, but was needed to give cordelia a meaning to be there.

A lot more people loved Doyle then the orginal poster seems to realize. When I was on here years ago we had a huge thread like this going on about Doyle. We loved him.
Doyle was meant to die, however. It was planned from the start, and it is a tradition of Joss Whedon's to kill of charactures that are well loved. This is the case with Tara, Wash, Jenny, and others. You never trully know which characture is going to die on Joss' shows.
The saddest part IMO, was that fact that Glen Quinn Died so soon after the characture of Doyle was killed off. It was a little over a year later. :/
I myself was, and am, a huge Doyle fan. I truly wish that Glen Quinn could have been around to make other shows and movies as the rest of the buffy, Angel and Firefly cast does.

Oh. I thought they killed off Doyle so soon BECAUSE Glenn Quinn died. Guess I had my facts a little messed up.

Oh no. He died quite a bit after that. The deaths were completly unrelated.

heart heart heart hum..Doyle? he is pretty cool. I love him more that Wesley William Price...Yeah cause Doyle having a big heart and he died without scare for save him friends. He is courageous!!!!I think this man was not to die....he was a good man. heart heart heart

I loved him, he was funny and cute...and when they killed him off I was pretty upset and sad. they should have killed gun i hate him.

What reason was there to kill off Gunn? He was nothing but a help to the group. Even after Fred left him, almost cruelly, he stayed on and help. Doyle, and loved as he was, was a crutch for Angel. To help his development, he had to be taken off.

I hated Doyle, I was going to stop watching the show because I found him so annoying. I was super happy when they killed him off and replaced him with Wes. I'm also not a huge fan of Gunn.
