▫▪▫ Oh not at all not at all.
In roleplay fights I make myself lose. In an upcoming chapter for my fic (-pushes everyone to it-), I practically torture Ruby. In anime when my fangirlism gets hurt, I get fangirl tingles. :D ▫▪▫

`Rhea ▫▪▫ xD that was to Altomare~ Sorry~
▫▪▫ Wait, that was directed at me? D=
First of all, I know Ruby and Sapphire admitted their love for wach other. I never said they didn't; Franticshipping is a couple I ship.. o.o; And even though they're not complete rivals they did have a little rivalry thing going on. They made a bet about who could complete their goal first; it wasn't full blown rivalry but it was there.
Umm... the only pairing that I really ship like that is Palletshipping and I have valid hints and such for said ship. And please, don't worry, I'm not one who goes around and ships two males because I think it's hot. I'd ship Palletshipping if one or both were females, i'm a firm believer in the saying "Love is Gender blind". Besides, It can be the same with hetero pairings. "Oh my gosh they're on the same pannel! They must be in love!!" D=
And just so you know; I'm not a PreciousMetalshipper... =o

I usually strongly dislike rivial pairings ^^; ▫▪▫ I'm not fond of them either. However, with Shigeru and Satoshi (Red and Green mangawise) there is just something there that makes me think that they have way more than a friendship/rivalry. In the anime Shigeru and Satoshi each carry around a mangled peice of an old PokeBall like a rare jewel. That's detication in my eyes. Plus there's always this: "And this, Satoshi-chan is lubricant." "And this is where we put it." >D I'm sorry, I couldn't resist...

Angelic Indigo Wolf This applies not just to Pokemon, but just about every anime out there with a decent shipping fanbase. With Pokemon you have Palletshipping, Contestshipping, and perhaps a few more that I don't know of because I havn't watched the anime in ages, and with the Pokemon Adventures manga you still have palletshipping, but you also have Preciousmetalshipping, and Franticshipping (this one actualy turned out to be canon)
However, in Naruto we have SasuNaru, Digimon we have Taito, Dragonball Z we have Goku and Vegeta shipped together, the list goes on!
So I was wondering, what exactly is the allure of pairing two rivals together? Why is it that they usualy become some of the most popular ships of that fandom? Ugly is the world I'm on.Most of the time it's the whole "hate--->love" kind of thing. Everyone seems to like that. Other times it's simply because they're "cute" together. How many times must it be explained that a good relationship is not based on "cuteness"? If I'm right, then prove me wrong.

I think it's because it's "more fun" in a few ways since there's more likely to be some tension to be between the two characters. For instance, in the Harry Potter fandom, there's the Harry/Draco ship. It's not as easy to get them together than say Harry and someone else that he gets along with better.

O-o;;
That episode will never be the same again. xD
*has it on tape* o.o
But its not like I didn't twist it up into some creepy fantasy xD but ANYWAY..
On the actual subject. 8D I agree with...
Quote: You know, I'm not really sure. For Palletshipping it's because even though they're rivals there is so many 'hints', shippy dialogue between the two, and its obvious that they actually care for each other weather it be close friendship or romance. For Contestshipping and Franticshipping it's pretty obvious that there's more than rivalry/friendship. For the others the only one I'm even slightly interested in is SasuNaru because of Naruto's absolute obsession with Sasuke; they have deep emotional ties and romance is possible. I'm not sure about the others though.

I don't care much for preciousmetal shipping, but specialjewel shipping. I find it cute in the game how he's mean to her. I think Silver secretly loves Crystal at least in the games. I haven't read far enough in the maga to see Crystal though. I'm so sad since she's my favorite character because the's the very first girl in the actual game and the only one not to wear a skirt. (I don't really count Sapphire because her shorts have a skirt like thing and was girly before)
I also like Green/Red, it's one of the few pokemon slash couples I do like seriously. I can't help, but think that Red looks better with him than Yellow and sometimes Misty.

Why are rivals paired together?!
I believe its because that somewhere in a rivalry there is some sort of affection or friendship. And rival pairings make such good love hate relationships. <33 And who doesnt love that. whee
ohh im rya btw.

I'm gonna go all mommy-ramble (at such a young age. ugh.) and hopefully explain the best I can.
Remember back in, say, elementary school when a boy would get a crush on a girl and start picking on her? It was a form of affection, but only because he/she didn't know how to react and so did whatever it took to get their attention.
Not to mention, rivals tend to have some kind of bond beyond rivalry. As far as we know, Satoshi and Shigeru have known each other since they were infants and were friends, but rivals at the same time. (Especially according the Professor Ookido in the opening of Red.)
Not to mention, it's kind of like the Dork Love (Ichigo Kurosaki/Uryuu Ishida [Bleach]) fandom. Love/hate, baby. >:3

3<3<3 Taichi and yamatto never seemed like rivals to me >.> DBZ...er...They are both married...so thats a little out there. I guess it could work. Sasunaru...There are hints, and they seem stalkerishly obsessed with each other. I guess its because of how much time rivals spend obsessing over each other.
