mmzero252 the title is ok as long as you aren't selling these for gold there's copyright laws on pokemon characters, even if it's original artwork 1- You're a killjoy. 2- Sprite edits are acceptable, since I am creating an original character using a pre-existing template. 3- I'm looking into the legality issues of this now, all because you had to go and make me remember the Fair-Use Copyright laws. Thanks a ton for potentially ruining a good thing. 4- If anyone still wants character art (of your avatar, not of Nintendo-owned Pokemon), original creation monsters, or any sprite work (since this falls under parody), that is still acceptable, as far as I've found so far.

I digress.
I MAY NOT DO/SELL ANY OF THE FOLLOWING - Sprite edits based on previously existing Pokemon sprites, whether monster or human. - Pencil art of Pokemon or licensed characters, whether monster or human.
I MAY DO/SELL THE FOLLOWING - Original sprites of your character. - Original sprites of custom-made monsters resembling Pokemon. For example, if you have this great idea for an Ice-type snow fox, then I can make that, but I cannot edit and sell a Vulpix recolored to be white and blue. - Original pencil drawings of your original character, avatar, or monster, as long as it follows the same rules as the above.
All future commissions will adhere to the above rules. Actually, I'm going to open a new thread for a new shop, so that all of this can be posted like it should be, instead of scattered around the thread, harhazardly.
Also, mmzero252, no hard feelings, but there's nothing an artist hates more than the big "STOP" sign of copyright and fair-use laws from random people. Thank you, though, for bringing it to my attention, as I'd rather bend a bit and make some money than just pack up shop and leave because I can't do exactly what I want. I'm still looking into the rules on parody art and whether or not I can sell it...

So.....now I have to mutate my Arcanine so you can draw it for me? How wonderful. =_= No. This is unnacceptable. I want a picture of an Arcanine, and I must have you do it for me. Let me find the TOS.... Quote: Gold represents a limited license right governed solely under these Terms, has no real value, and is not transferable or redeemable for any sum of money or monetary value from Gaia at any time. As such, paying Gaia Gold for FAN ART of a copyrighted character should not be forbidden, seeing as how Gaia Gold is not real currency.

As such, paying Gaia Gold for FAN ART of a copyrighted character should not be forbidden, seeing as how Gaia Gold is not real currency. That was my train of thought as well. I'm considering emailing an admin or moderator from Gaia directly to ask where the various forms of art that I wish to "sell" here fall under, as well as what I may and may not do. As for now, go ahead and send me commission requests if you'd like, but I'll be taking no action on things until after I find out what's what.

The rule with copyrights is that so long as you give credit to the original creators of said copyrighted thing, it's legal to draw.
Because if it wasn't we wouldn't have any kind of fan art around, be it for Gaia Gold or not.
