[.candy.kitty.] Well, here's what I think: 1) Global warming is a very serious issue. I think that people should think of the planet and the future and stop being lazy. Sure, sometimes we have to use cars (especially in towns like mine which have no public transportation system). But there are a lot of things that everyone can do to make the world a better place. 3nodding 2) Al Gore is awesome and I for one hope he runs for president again in the next election. 3nodding @Jessi- Have you noticed how hot its been getting in the summer? Its only gonna get worse. And have you ever seen the movie The Day After Tomorrow? That is a scary possibility that I don't want to be the cause of. Sure, the outcome is probably not going to be sudden, but it will happen. The reason that Mr. Gore is so extreme about it is because if we all work together, we can stop the threat now. But if we let our current lifestyles continue, in 20 years, global warming will probably be impossible to stop. gonk Hot in the summer?! Puh-leese. It has been hot in the Winter here in Virginia. We at least get cold, sometimes snow. Temperatures have been in the extreme. Well, to me, a theory I have, and I have no evidence to prove this; but the Tsunami over by.... oh what was it... New Zealand? Not sure, but that bad a** Tsunami hit knocked the Earth of it's axis by an inch or so and that is partial the reason for a lot of climate changes.

We barely got any snow back here, in the Netherlands! That really bothers me, because we usually get a few centimetres thick carpet. Now we didn't make it to a centimetre. Not that I mind that much about the snow, just that's this is really happening!

@PUdge, Hmm, interesting concept.
But it's highly doubfull. Tunamis have happeded through out all of history, Just as powerful or maybe even more powerfull than the one which has hit in NEw Zeland.

Even if somehow this was possible, the cause of the tsunami would still be due to global warming.

JessiDlux93 eh true, but Im weary of any "open disscussion." w/e as long as theres no tention, the world could end the day after tommarrow, and as long as Its not tommarrow, I'd be fine. rolleyes

I think that's part of the reason most peole will not worry about it, because they have that state of mind.
I guess it's hard to worry about something that's not quite so harmfull now, but even today there have been major consequences.
Huricane Katrina has been proven to be directly a cause of Global Warming.
@CandyKitty--> it's good to be at least informed of what's going on in the world, at least then you can form your own opinions.
It's never to early to be concerned about your future, especially the future of your home planet.

You see the problem with global warming is that either we aren't aware of it and then the ones that are aware feel that they can't do anything all on their own. Basically, we all need to do something about it. Me not driving to work is not only an extremely inconvenient situation for myself because public transit is not at all useful. It is basically impossible to get where I want to go. That is why many people in my city do not use public transit because it is such a hassle. I do try to car pool as often as possible which is good.
But it is kind of impossible for me to bicycle to work sweatdrop

And the truth about Global warming is that it's really scary. To think that some countries could end up underwater or unbearably hot is certainly terrifying. I am glad that where I live is at no risk of flood or getting too hot. But with global warming it certainly does heat up a lot here, which can be nice, but not getting snow in the winter isn't as great. There's nothing we can do to stop it, but we can slow it down.
Sometimes I think about it and feel that maybe there's just nothing we can do about it and that we are going to drive ourselves into complete chaos. But then I worry for the generations after me. I don't want my kids, should I chose to have them, end up drowning or ending up with diseases because of overpopulation. I'm worried...

OH MY GOSH! dont rent that movie its sooo boring..well i thought it was and personaly i dont really belive in global warming.. i mean it has been hot but im not sure all the things they say are right or what i belive.. and thats just me

You're saying you don't believe in global warming? Believe what you want, but in 100 years time it's what is going to kill the living. I'm not sure if it's that you actually are oblivious to what's going on around you or if you don't want to believe. I just don't understand why you wouldn't believe. Perhaps it's because you are not seeing the changes? Looking at annual glacier melting, it's proved that global warming is greatly effecting our word. Every year more and more of the glaciers are melting and one day, they will not freeze again.

@Rencartu: Yes, almost everything is the government's fault, and really big companies... like the one that was looking for oil but hit an underground volcanic mud. D: Now, all the people have no homes because of that company, and it's the government's fault because they didn't make sure that the company had some way to control or stop that from happening. D:
Yeah, I know about Korean being under a dictatorship. It's also an example of the government neglecting the people to concentrate on the military. D: *sigh* I hate wars. I wish it didn't happen. It's pointless, it's stupid and in the end neither party ever wins. Both sides will lose many people. If leaders of countries want a war then let the leaders of the countries fight each other. >_<
Well if the government invested some money into renewable energy i'm sure they could find scientists to make things more efficient and last longer. Also I never said that they would just use renewable energy, just that we should try to become less dependant on it and try to make at least 60% of our energy come from renewable sources.
I'm kinda annoyed that Australia didn't sign the energy agreement thing, neither did America. D: And apparently America isn't even going to try to limit it's oil use, they're just going to keep using it as they always had.
@Keewa: Australia doesn't have much high ground. D: We're totally screwed if the ice caps melt alot, same with Venice. T__T *mentioned Venice cause it's pretty. <_<*
And it's going to get really hot in Australia and our water levels are never high, which means we're really screwed. >_<; I'm going to go live somewhere where they actually care about their environment.

I watched the Inconvenient Truth with my boyfriend. It's informative but also depressing to see how humans are destroying the Earth and what could happen in the future. I think he said if half of Antartica melts, the coasts of the US will flood...Like Manhattan will be a teensy island. Yikes. And I don't get why people don't believe it cuz he has PROOF of what has happened!! Like the rise in CO2, how the icecaps are melting...I don't know how people can ignore what's right in front of them!! And I heard on the radio some people were trying to say that global warming is a RELIGIOUS BELIEF! Do you believe that?!? WTF?
I live in NJ and we had windmills installed around Atlantic City. I think they look awesome and they are a good source of energy smile They wanted to put them up elsewhere in NJ but the people there didn't want them cuz THEY DIDN'T LOOK NICE. Ok so they cut down on energy costs but since they're not pretty, we don't want 'em...I was amazed.
And I found out that tigers are going to be extinct in 10 years, due to poaching and ruining their environment gonk cry Poor tigers

Zombie- Yeah, I watched an Inconvenient Truth, parts of it anyways. But I've heard tones of stuff about it and I've researched global warming myself. Yeah, some of the things mentioned on their were terribly frightenning.
Bahha haa! A Religious belief?! That's a load of crap. I cannot imagine what kind of a person came up with that. Jeeze, it's happening before your very eyes! Can't you see it? We're not making it up to scare you Dx
That's great that you've got windmills put up! We have one in the city, and we've had it for the longest time xD. Oh my lord! What a load of idiots! I'm sorry I cannot stand people like that. It's like girls not wearing their coats because it doesn't look as good as a sweater does, then they're freezing their a** off! So stupid! I've actually seen a postcard of a sunset and this huge coast of windmills. They look awesome in my opinion.
Oh my lord! The tigers! I feel so terrible for them! Apparently there are something like 5000 tigers left in the word. I love the tigers, I cannot imagine a world without them. Retarded poachers. I wish I could kill them scream They deserve it! So money crazed.
