Aeru rolled his eyes at the request for them to kill all eight of the approaching beasts. But then again, he didn't really have anything else to do, so why not go along with it? It would certainly amuse him for the few minutes it would take with two Anwen around.
He didn't leap from the tree. Instead he let his legs unhook from the tree branch, quickly wrapping his tail around it before he could fall, and holding himself up just a little bit off the ground. Hanging there, he did what he did best. He pulled two daggers from his belt, letting one fly right after the other. He scowled though as the first was enough to knock the Mengu down, causing his second to miss, and stuck in the ground, while the first merely injured. Irritated but quickly wiping the scowl from his expression, he let another dagger fly, piercing the wounded beast in the chest. He ignored the cry of pain that came before death, a sound that he didn't have to hear when killing more human creatures.
Down to three blades, Aeru dropped from the tree, landing on all fours and pulling out another two blades, sending them both at an approaching Mengu, this time both hitting, and he was pleased. But now he was down to one knife, which he pulled out just in time to see one of the filthy beasts in the air, leaping towards him. He ducked, trying to send the blade through the stomach of the Mengu, but the attack was sloppy in his attempt to not get his head bit off, and it didn't kill him. Quickly he darted to the dagger which had hit the ground, and he kicked it up with his foot, throwing it at the Mengu which was coming in for another attack.
"Two mo'. Havin' fun?" He grinned, using his camouflage to hide himself and confuse another which had come in for an attack.

Eykka moved along quietly inside the forest, seeking a water source. She had ran out of her limited supply of water, and knew that Jystan Woods was the closest place to the fair she had recently left to find water. I may have to do some hunting here too, she thought. But all I have is this knife. I don't think wrestling against a Mengu is a good idea when all I have is a single knife, she thought, heaving a sigh.
Eykka looked about nervously, she was rather jumpy now that mengus had come to mind. They usually form packs, so if there's one, there is bound to be more, she reflected unhappily. She found a stream nearby where she was currently standing, and began to stride towards it. But then, she heard the barking and snarling of several mengus.
Wonderful, she thought bitterly. I should have guessed that because I fear them at this moment that they would come. Groaning, she backed away slightly, but then beheld the silhouette of an anwen up in a tree. She had taken down most of the pack she noted, astonished, looking at the ground below the tree. Only two left! Well, since there are only two, I am guessing I can hit one by throwing the knife, but then the other one might turn on me. I can always climb up that tree, she thought, and then hurled the knife at the head of a bewildered looking mengu. She hit her mark, and it fell to the ground. Spasms coursed through the creature's body before it at last lay still. She had been taught hunting by her brothers before her exile, and was decent at hunting. That's strange, she thought. It looked like it lost something.

Aella noted Aeru's roll of his eyes but he was still quick to join in, as he swung neatly from the branch silently, there was no denying his skill with those daggers. As he dropped to the ground Aella watched him fight as she gathered more arrows. As she raised her eyes back again, she just caught sight of a wounded Mengu leaping towards him fangs bared and claws reaching. Aeru also had no daggers now. But his quick movement and thinking ensured his target went down. Aella sighted the two remaining mengu, one medium sized mengu and another larger more weatherbeaten beast. It shifted threateningly on its sharp claws as they raked the dirt beneath its feet. Regardless of the fact its packmates lay dead the Mengu would always defend their own. As Aella raised her bow to strike the creature it fell dead in her sight.
How could that happen, she looked to Aeru but he diddnt kill it he was looking somewhere else. Looking further in the distance she saw her, a Female chorda, a deep rusted brown. Aella also noticed more prominently, her lack of her horn. Chordas were so good at keeping themselves hidden, Aella hadnt even noticed her there, or how long she could have been there. Movement from the other mengu snapped the young hunter back to the task in hand.
One Beast remaining, it howled in rage and darted towards the girl. Aella quickly disposed of it. An arrow let fly and with an Arrow in the back of its head, it slumped defeated to the ground. Aella's grin spread across her face, the hunt was such a success. She had never had a hunt like it. She lept down from her branch and swung herself down to the ground. Stretching after bieng so long up the tree felt so good, on tiptoes smiling her hands resting behind her head she cried out happily.
'Another mighty mengu pack falls today'
She span on her heels, happily, she would eat well tonight she may even be able to get a couple of golds for such a good hunt. Then she remembered somthing.
'Ah the goddess!'
For such a successful hunt she really ought to donate one, she sould pick a small or average one, it might offend her. She picked her first kill, a good large male. She cut its throat under the trunk of the tree and said a short word of thanks. For a novice hunter such beliefs of luck and favour, helped Aella to keep faith in quite a tough life, but if the goddess was on her side or if she believed the goddess was on her side it made hoping seem more worthwhile. She turned her attention back to Aeru and the Chorda , she nodded in thanks to Aeru smiling. Then turned to the girl.
'Thanks for the help, you're quite the aim. You even managed to show up dark and dangerous here'
She said with a smile and added cheek at Aeru.

Eykka was taken aback by the friendliness of the female anwen. Eykka smiled in return, noting the bow, and the the multitude of arrows the anwen had with her. She must be a very skilled hunter. "Thank you! It was no trouble whatsoever. I don't mean to sound straightforward, but may I know your names so I can address you both properly? My name is Eykka."
She had of course pondered the possibility of not telling them her name, but she had decided it was best to be friendly in these times, or she may as well have already dug her grave. Waiting for a reply, she stepped up the the mengu she had slain, and pulled the knife out of its head, and whispered a word of thanks to the Goddess of Oaxu for letting the game live in abundance. She noted that she hadn't seen the male anwen for a while, until he came out of his camouflage.
Immediately, the thought returned to her mind about she dead sister Fae. As Eykka had held Fae's lifeless body close to her own, she could have sworn she saw a figure melding into the wall. She then thought of the strong possibility of an anwen being responsible for the murder of her sister. But, there were a lot of anwen in Oaxu, and what was the likelihood of one of the two she had her back to now, would be her sister's murderer? Besides, the female seemed quite friendly. As for the male, he hadn't spoken at all, so she didn't know.
Her head cooled quickly, but kept in mind that there was a very great probability that an anwen could be responsible. She just needed to keep her eyes open, but act civil to any dark creatures she encountered... so long as they were friendly. She turned back to the two anwen, smiling kindly at the both of them.

Well she seemed the friendly sort ad it would be rude to think badly of her due to her lack of horn. Aella knew Chordas sometimes threw out tribe members for quite petty reasons. One of the clothes merchants in Venna she spoke to often was exiled from his clan just for bieng a homosexual, crimes against the goddess counted too. So perhaps it wasnt a big thing, but just in case Aella was made sure not to be completely trusting of her, she seemed to be friendly and innocent. Aella had experienced that the worst kinds of people had a brilliant way of disguising thier true nature.
As the Chorda turned away to say a prayer, Aella noticed Aeru reappear from the surroundings. Seeing another anwen use this skill always made her unhappy, it was one of the skills that seperated Aella from bieng able to pretend she was truely a complete anwen. Niether really an Anwen or a Ehalu, she fit in better with the rag-tag Anwen hunters, so decided she should call herself one, she knew she looked like an anwen. She had the grey fur and the icy hair that many anwen sported. But she couldnt camouflage like an Anwen niehter could she merge threw objects like an Ehalu, she somtimes felt like she was stuck between some strange limbo between two species.
Looking around at the Mengu whick littered the ground she looked up into the trees for a flash of pink. Trella should be coming back, right? she did say she would help carry these things after all.
'Great to meet you Eykka, Im Aella, novice hunter' She said as she shifted her bow on her shoulder.

'Great to meet you Eykka, Im Aella, novice hunter.' Eykka had a good feeling about this anwen. She acted friendly, despite the fact Eykka was a light creature. Eykka really appreciated it. "Nice to meet you too Aella. I was just coming through. I am short of food supplies and water, and I knew Jystan would be a great place to come to for it." Eykka stated, knowing they would probably be suspicious of why she was there at that very moment. Eykka then turned to look at the male anwen.
She had seen the myriad of daggers embedded in different sections of mengus' bodies. She surmised that they belonged to him, and he was skilled with their usage. She tried not to gawk at him, but it was hard not to, knowing that he easily felled a great number of the mengus scattered before her. After a moment, she glanced at her knife. It was covered in blood, and she took a rag out of her pocket, and began to wipe it off. While she cleaned it, Eykka glanced around her.
Jystan was quite a wondrous place after all, just about everything she had heard about it was true now that she was seeing it with her own eyes. She was happy to be here right now, meeting a few dark creatures. She couldn't deny the fact that she had longed for someone to talk to. She wished her sister was still here beside her, but knew that it was useless to wish for such things. She felt rather sad at this point and shifted slightly, to look at the herbs among the ground over by the tree. Eykka pulled a few herbs, knowing that they would be good for healing wounds. She turned to them once again. "Neither of you are injured are you?"

Trella snorted, pulling and tugging the pups behnd her. The menkir pups pulled back on her leash, snarling and bitting on the leather. Tugging harder she pulled them along, and they soon finally understood that they needed to follow. Trella had wished she brought her Hjuuki, Offwing. He knew how to carry a mengu pup. Mumbling she headed back to wear Aeru and Aella were. She had hoped they took out all the menkir. As she headed towards the tree, she saw blood, and mengkir bodies on the ground. Her eyes fluttered, as she was quite excited for Aella and Aeru. Carrying a bunch of mengkir wouldn't be a problem, because she could carry two of them, live. A chorda was with them. She silently tied the pups to a tree, and went towards Aeru and Aella. She wondered if he would help carry a few mengkir. As she walked towards the tree, she heard a moan, a light bark. It was the alpha male. He was still partially alive. Trella put her foot on it's neck, and pushed down. It took it's last breath, and it died. She felt no remorse. There was no way anyone could save it. Medicine was hard to produce for the animals. There was only slightly good medicine for the Oaxuians. Why waste it on animals? She hated the animal activist for wild creatures. They were full blown idoits. Going and sitting in the woods waiting to be with their 'brother' mengkir, and 'sister' Hjuuki, and then later when people haven't seen their children in days, they go out and find their bodies decaying. But she did like domestic and tamed animals. They aleast.... most of the time wouldn't bite the hand that fed them. Trella lifted her foot, and smiled up at Aella. "I'm back to help you carry a few to te market."

Aeru was slightly stunned at the sudden appearance of the Chorda. He revealed himself again, flickering out from the camouflage and becoming fully visible once more. He said no words to the Goddess. Never should he say prayers or any sorts of things. Even if these were just beasts, they had once been living creatures all the same, and showing any sort of reaction in himself after having killed anyone or anything would surely effect him in the long run. No emotion. Best to keep it that way.
"S'Aeru, dahl." The Anwen said politely, though he didn't offer his hand nor did he do much other than a quick nod in her direction. He was already wandering around the corpses of the Mengu, and pulling out his daggers. All of these he wiped clean on the grass, before wiping them clean on the cloth around his waist and tucking them inside it.
His eyes flickered away momentarily. It was high time he had gotten out of there. Being so friendly wasn't smart. No, not smart at all. "If you'll 'scuse me." He said simply, before leaping up, grabbing hold of the branch and swinging forwards onto it. He paused there, looked down at the females, then waved and smiled before disapearing into his surroundings.

Eykka watched Aeru swing away, wondering where he was heading to. He seemed nice enough... but she didn't trust him near as much as Aella. Eykka was aware that certain people could easily mask their real personality, not that Eykka was positive. She then thought that Aella could be doing this as well, and became cautious once again. Eykka turned around to face the sarus who had just entered the bracken.
'I'm back to help you carry a few to the market' It was obvious to Eykka that Aella, Aeru, and this sarus were acquaintances. She also noticed the pups behind the sarus with ropes firmly fastened about their necks, and a makeshift leash connecting it with her hand. Eykka reflected that mengu pups fetched a rather high price on the market, so it was smart thinking on the sarus's part. "What a coincidence, me meeting with three people in one day. Nice to meet you as well." Eykka at this point was having an inner struggle, debating on whether to tell this sarus her name or not. Eykka had no idea how quickly the news of her killing her sister, (although not really) spread throughout the different species. The last thing she desired at this point was a confrontation with someone who may think of her as dirt.
She sighed inwardly, and decided that if the sarus did hear about it, she may convince her to believe her side of the story. Then, the sarus may be able to convince more sarus or other light creatures of her innocence. But, it would still be better if she didn't know anything about it. She made a prayer in her head and stated,"My name is... Eykka." Eykka then turned to face Aella. "I can help you carry them too if you wish."

"Neither of you are injured are you?" She watched as the Chorda skillfully picked out herbs from what looked like a bunch of undistinguishable leaves to Aella. 'No no im fine, They couldnt lay tooth or claw on me while I was perched up that tree' Aella smiled as she saw Trella dragging two unimpressed pups on thick leather leash. As she tied them to a tree Aella was silently impressed by the sarus' ingenuity. Pups gained quite a high price. "I'm back to help you carry a few to te market." Aella nodded greatfully with a smile.
Aella was upset to see Aeru leave so soon when he decided to depart, she really would have liked to get on with an Anwen as she had such bad luck with them, many were very seasoned hunters or skilled assassins who had no need for any kind of social life. but she had a feeling she would see him one day again.
"I can help you carry them too if you wish." A generous offer from the Chorda
'That'd be a great help, thanks Eykka, um...' Aella tried to ponder for a moment how many beasts they had to carry 'If you are okay to carry two Mengu each, ill take three. Unless those two nippers are giving you trouble Trell, in which case ill take four'
She tied the mengus front legs together to make it a bit easier for her to carry them and she shifted them onto her shoulder.
'I think the nearest towns Kinoc, we'll get these things to the traders and I think we all deserve a good meal on me. Its not often you find anyone these days who doesnt want to slit your throat sooner that speak to you, never mind lend a helping hand. Everyone needs to stick together these days its, rare that people do that.'

'No no im fine, They couldnt lay tooth or claw on me while I was perched up that tree'. Eykka was rather impressed with Aella. The anwen may have previously stated that she was a novice, but she was more skilled then many people who had boasted that they were highly skilled. She also seemed to be effortlessly civil with light creatures. It was a nice break from the usual. She may not have encountered many dark creatures, but she had heard story of merciless dark creatures, especially crows in particular.
'That'd be a great help, thanks Eykka, um...' Eykka smiled warmly at this. It was nice to be treated like any other creature instead of a "murderer". Eykka looked warily about her, searching for any other mengus. She certainly didn't hear any, and there weren't signs around that showed evidence of another mengu dwelling nearby. Eykka walked away from the tree, placing the herbs in her backpack. She walked back to the sarus and Aella.
'If you are okay to carry two Mengu each, ill take three. Unless those two nippers are giving you trouble Trell, in which case ill take four' Eykka watched Aella tie the mengus' legs together, and haul them up to her shoulder. She thought that was a rather smart idea, but then recalled she had no rope of her own to tie the two mengus' legs together. Instead, she took one and slipped it onto her shoulder, and then did the same with the other mengu. Then, she put her hands on the backs on the mengu to hold them in place. Eykka could manage taking the two mengus to Kinoc.
'I think the nearest towns Kinoc, we'll get these things to the traders and I think we all deserve a good meal on me. Its not often you find anyone these days who doesnt want to slit your throat sooner that speak to you, never mind lend a helping hand. Everyone needs to stick together these days its, rare that people do that.' Eykka was pleasantly surprised, and wholeheartedly agreed. Though Eykka had previously vowed to hurt any dark creature who tried to harm her, she hadn't looked forward to doing that sort of thing. She didn't exactly mind a good fight, but it was different nowadays, considering one action could have thousands of consequences to that action. Besides, if everyone looked past their differences, they may be able to see that light and dark creatures weren't so different after all. Eykka of course hadn't forgotten assassination on the parts of certain dark creatures, and reflected that was a big difference, but not all dark creatures did that. Eykka turned to Aella once again.
"I agree with you completely. These are harsh times, and it can be the best thing to stick together. It's also nice to meet friendly faces for once. Now... about that meal... I will only take you up on your kind offer if you let me chip in on the bill," Eykka said smiling.

Trella smiled, the offer of having Aella carry four seemed too kind for words. But she didn't need it. She wrapped and expertly tied the pups to her belt, and hoisted the two mengkir on her back. The pups didn't seem to notice their family members bleeding, and dead on her back. Trella saw no harm in helping these Oaxuians, even though they were not her kind. The other two were still under the creation of the Goddess Oaxu, so Trella had no problem helping. " That sounds amazing." A meal. The goats got to her bread, and she became hungry as the day progressed. She wondered which shop Aella would pick. "Oh yes, the nearest town is Kinoc." They were so far into Jystan, she wasn't close enough to Venna to take the pups in. She didn't mind. It meant more time to tame them. She followed behind Aella and Eykka. The two were interesting. Eykka was kind and reserved. Aella was more determined and confident. Today was most interesting. She wondered where Aeru was off too. He was an interesting character too.

((Private RP made public.)) Vyassa sniffed. The assassin had just gotten away from the seven, and was feeling rather strange. It was unlike her to stay outside with nothing of particular importance to do like that. And to be in the presence of seven non-bloods who she didn't intend to kill...Since then she had fled far from Ansantaniel, due west, and had eventually landed herself in the bit of woods called Jystan.
Vyassa didn't usually venture that far from the depths of Ansantaniel Forest, unless she was trying to add to her hit list. Unfortunately for her she didn't know her way around quite so well, but that thought was lost as she sat in a high tree, pondering her strange behavior and her new acquaintances.
Being a rather tactile learner, she pulled a dagger out from one of her boots and began to make some cuts in the brittle bark of the tree. Upon seeing that the bark was unsuitable for drawing, Vyassa dropped to the base of the tree. She leaned over to draw a few stick figures with a mild smirk on her face. The one with the big head was Leonardo. And then the Crow next to him was expressionless, possibly moody. The assassin continued to smirk as she drew another more animalistic figure, definitely female. She added a beer bottle next to the caricature of Candince. Next came the female crows...
Ooh yes, that was it. Vyassa had finished all of the drawings and was rather amused at her work. From there, she made a few mysterious diagrams to the side, sketching lines and connecting them to Crow and Hazuiel alike, as necessary. Words like 'stupid', 'drunk', 'finicky', and 'quiet' could barely be made out in her careful script, and other symbols such as a skull and crossbones as well as a dunce cap were drawn near those. She was interrupted, however, when she felt a foreign presence nearby. Vyassa began to rub out the sketches she would later copy into her journal.stickeh-tape "Nearby" didn't even come close. See, that was the thing about being an Anwen. Being of their race it was all too easy to sneak up on people without them noticing for a long while, and that was what was so much fun about it. Especially considering once more, Aeru was playing the part of a monkey, hanging upside down out of a tree branch by his tail, camouflaged, of course.
He was hanging almost directly above the other Anwen, head tilted curiously as he watched her draw, arms crossed, and his ponytail almost touching the ground with how long it was. Had he been visible it would have been quite an amusing sight. And then, all of a sudden, he was visible, shimmering into his normal state but still hanging there as Vyassa abruptly started to rub out the drawings in the ground.
"Tch. Aw, ah didn' even get ta finish readin' thems!" He said loudly, a wide grin on his dark features. "Yer quite the artist, aren't ya? But ain't it a li'il mean ta be callin' people stupid?" Well it was quite clear now that either he didn't know who Vyassa was, or he didn't care. More than likely it would have been both. If he had known who she was, it wouldn't have changed his approach, nor would it have convinced him to stay away. Maybe his hit list didn't amount to hers, but hey, with a history like his, he didn't have much of any reason to fear her.
"Why don' ya draw a few more lass? Amuse me, com'on." He continued, still grinning that big wide grin, and now even swinging back and forth a bit from his tail. Shame on her for letting him get so close without her noticing it. An involuntary tingle went up the female assassin's bare back as she turned her head around to glower at him in silence. Fellow Anwen and assassin he may be, but from the looks of it he was a stand-alone...he didn't have any markings that would associate him with any of the organizations. He wasn't entitled to what little kindness she had.
He continued to speak to her casually, as if she were his friend, or something...that did not sit well with her. And to call her mean, heh. 'Stupid', by her standards, was nice. If she didn't like the said person, they'd be dead already. And the lot were still alive.
It wouldn't be too bad to sketch out exactly what she thought of the silly Anwen hanging from the tree, though, Vyassa mused, and she wouldn't waste her breath speaking. Vyassa's arm lashed out again, quickly sketching an exaggeratedly unbecoming Anwen hanging from a tree. Then on the right, she drew herself. Now she was obviously her, because the drawing was wearing hardly anything and had the characteristic scowl on its face.
Her ears twitched as she decided what next to draw. She absently sketched two arrows—one from him, one from her—to an empty space. Purring as she filled the empty space, she glanced back at him once mischievously to see his expression...though there was nothing of interest yet. The Vyassa-figure was rubbing the him-figure's face into the dirt. And next to that, she scrawled out an 'if', followed by another sketch of him with an 'x' over it. She leaned back onto the trunk of the tree, pouting slightly with a challenging expression on her face. Put simply, the diagram said, "This is you. This is me. This will be you very soon if you don't go away." stickeh-tape The male Anwen dropped to the ground on all fours, crouching beside the little sketch in the ground. He tilted his head to the side childishly, studying the design, then looked up at Vyassa with a mock-hurt expression. "Well, tha's no' vereh nice either! Ah was only bein' friendleh." It was all too clear to him that Vyassa had no intentions of being friendly back. But honestly, he couldn't have cared less. Somehow it was just so amusing to him to continue to bother people, especially people like the assassin girl.
"Ah think yer gettin' the wrong impressi'n of meh now, wah is it ya don' seem teh like meh much?" The fake hurt expression disappeared, and another grin replaced it. He stood up straight, tail flicking and wiping out the picture on the ground, without him turning around to look at it. He patted the ground with his tail, then lifted it up and around to behind Vyassa, flicking at one of her earrings. Ah, the joys of being an Anwen with such a long tail.
He held out a hand as if to expect her to shake it, even though he very well knew that the chances of her doing that were slim. "Name's Aeru. Aaand you ah?" One thing that Vyassa didn't like when dealing with someone so much like her, was that they never became afraid of her. This Aeru character was ignoring her hostility, and rubbing out her lovely drawing as if it were nothing. Well, actually, it wasn't worth anything at all. Vyassa could easily reproduce it—there went her ego again.
Back to Aeru, though...she had a strong aversion to his attitude. Especially since he had already invaded her precious personal space. How old was he? He didn't seem to be much older than she. Vyassa couldn't remember a time when she had been such a twit, but she decided to grace his questions with an answer. "I," she began rather haughtily, "don't like...'friendly'." She narrowed her eyes and accompanied that action with a cruel smirk. "I am Vyassa," she continued in a silken voice, much softer this time, as if she were getting ready to attack something. She ignored his extended hand, turning away from it slightly.
Truth be told, friendly frightened her a bit. She was never taught friendly, or love. The female Anwen had known fighting and death all of her life. The only sense of friendliness she had was camaraderie and rapport with her parents, and allegiance—allegiance easily broken—to her organization. That was all. Though she would never admit it, she wasn't quite sure what to do in a friendly situation. To her, friendly was being only mildly 'mean', as opposed to cruel. stickeh-tape There! Now they were getting somewhere!
Sure it wasn't the most friendly of responses, but it was progress all the same to Aeru. Why he wanted Progress only the Goddess Oaxu knew, but it was probably just because he was bored. What did he get to do for fun? Nothing, honestly. If he weren't out on a job he was either sitting alone in the forest or off to visit his sister in town, and neither could really satisfy his hunger for some fun. Sometimes hanging out with Ezz was amusing, but they never spent much time together, so it rarely was. So this was what he got his kicks out of.
"Thar we go! Tha' wasn' so hard now was it, hm?" He said cheerfully, dropping his hand. "But wha' ah can' see is why yeh don' like friendly! Ah thought all Anwen were friendlier than mos'. But not yeh, huh?" He flashed her a knowing look, taking a few steps backwards and then sidestepping around her. His eyes held a mischievous look all of a sudden as he proceeded to use his tail to take one of the daggers that had been safely tucked inside the cloth around his waist, and throw it up into the air, catching it, and doing the same thing over and over again, never once looking at the dagger.
Men could be such show-offs.
"Unless..." He started, looking amused, and finally catching the dagger in his hand instead of his tail. "It's 'cause yer a lot more like meh than most'd see." What was this? Let's-show-off-our-skillz? Vyassa was becoming quickly disgusted, and didn't even bother to hide it. No matter what she did so far, he refused to take the message. In fact, it seemed that everything she did only made him happier. She didn't live to make others happy, no, she took life away from them, and when she let them live she sure as hell didn't let them enjoy it.
No, I don't like friendly. Yes, I'm different. Can't you see my colors? And no, I don't like you, she almost wanted to say. Instead, she fumed, merely continuing to glower at the offending Anwen from her seat. She wished he would cut himself while catching that dagger. Very much. Yes, she would laugh—a strange thing for her to do—if he chopped off the end of his tail while trying to show off. Maybe, if she ignored him, he would go away. And that she did; she went back to staring at the dirt in front of her, to see if she could actually draw something that might provoke him. Threats of violence hadn't worked so far, and if it was about the opposite end of the rating spectrum and he wanted a piece of a** he wouldn't get it either. Was the only way to be...friendly? Despicable.
Vyassa didn't get any more time to think, though, when he moved next to her, having caught the dagger in his hand. Instinctively, Vyassa hurtled forward and somersaulted out of his range, the way any Anwen could, all while flipping out another set of concealed blades and tail weapons. She was disgruntled to find an amused expression on his face. "I try to keep the Anwen count on my hit list low," she growled, replacing most of her weapons, "That's friendly enough." In that comment, she had warned him, acknowledged their assassin status, and provided an answer to that barb about being friendly.
The female pouted and folded her arms across her chest defiantly. She could see why he was so dangerous. He'd be friendly, and you wouldn't see it coming until it was too late. Never trust another assassin. Her pout deepened into a frown when she saw their difference in size, as well. He was a good four inches taller than her, and had muscle mass that she as a female couldn't have. Sure it wasn't much compared to races like the Crow, but he was a killer just like her. He could fight her in the same league. Vyassa had never been in a situation where she was contending with another hitman. She felt threatened, and the scowl on her face obviously told him so, against her wishes. stickeh-tape Aeru's amused look continued to play across his face as he watched her, and once she'd snapped her last and settled into her current position, a small snort of laughter escaped. Literally, a snort. "Look lass yeh can stop with the tuff gal shell. I ain't gonna hurt yeh and more'n I'm gonna try'n hurt tha' there rock." Adding to his statement of innocence he set his foot on a medium sized rock and nudged it a little. Even so he continued to hold a slightly mischievous look in his eye. Even if he had no intentions of hurting Vyassa, the look continued to stay there.
And as if to put the finishing touch of assurance on it all, Aeru stepped backwards, and all at once leapt up, grabbing hold of a lower tree branch and swinging backwards, letting go of the branch when he was as far back as he could go and going into an aerial flip, landing on his feet on the branch. (Dammit Anwen are so fun to control with their flippy, show-offy athleticness. XDD) Vyassa might have been right about a few things. He was a threat. But so was she. She was in her right mind to be cautious around another assassin, and even though Aeru didn't show it, he was being sure not to be too stupid, lest he get his neck slice or something of the like. All the same he would never act in such a way. He liked having his fun.
But at the same time, she was wrong about a few things. One was that usually if he were acting friendly, he really did have no intention to kill you, unless he really did need to use such a technique to get you to drop your guard. Usually it was a sneak attack, a clean, quick kill, and the victim would never have seen him, because he would have been camouflaged. The other thing was that despite his appearance he was much less than strong. He relied on things other than strength to fight. He wouldn't have been surprised if the female were stronger than he.
"Dahl, yeh should stop bein' so crabbeh! Look." He continued, standing on the branch as he talked and his tail went to moving again. This time he grabbed out the daggers from the cloth, and one from each of his boots, dropping them to the ground. More like throwing them, actually, because they all landed with the tips sticking at least an inch into the dirt. Of course, he would never let himself be completely unarmed, and so there was still a hidden dagger, but this he would not reveal to her unless she threatened him enough for him to, and so he kept it hidden. "Ah'm all helpless and unarmed here lass. Yeh gonna stop bein' so hostile now?" He crouched down on the tree branch so he was almost sitting, but not quite, holding his arms out wide. His tail swung a little below the tree branch. Vyassa was not amused in the least. He was so laid-back, and here she was, her walls straight up. He was talking about her shell, but the more she thought about it, the more she doubted whether she had an interior. Usually she didn't associate outside of her organization, and when she did, it was before she killed someone. Meeting seven people in the past day was a record for her. She didn't act any other way, did she? She was an assassin, trained in thought and in deed. She couldn't help it that she was born not knowing anything else.
And she didn't like how he talked to her at all, addressing her with 'Doll' and 'Lass'. She watched with a skeptical look on her face as he showed his weapons, claiming that he was unarmed. Of course, no assassin would be completely unarmed. That was one of the first rules she had learned as a child in the organization's schools. However, an idea was beginning to grow in the back of her head, and in the moment of reveling in the absolute comical genius of her idea she smirked. The expression was brief, and soon she reverted back to her mask of seriousness. Vyassa would begin calling his bluff by following suit and showing him her own weapons. One by one, she pulled out her impressive arsenal from various pockets and dropped them in front of her—daggers, brass knuckles, all amount of shuriken, wire, and various other disabling items. Indeed, she carried a good deal of metal around. However, like him, she left one thing in her pockets—trench knives. She grinned smugly at her weapons. At least she had beaten him in that aspect.
The female assassin decided she would follow him up the tree in a similar manner, as well. She launched herself at the base of the tree with lethal speed. When she neared, her leg swung up and for all but four feet it seemed she was walking up the trunk, for her momentum allowed her to carry herself that far. Stopping just short of the branch he sat on as she lost speed, she landed quietly on an adjacent branch. Finally, she jumped off of that branch, catching onto it at the last second with her right hand, swinging around once before letting go to execute a mid-air turn as she landed perfectly on his branch. Another smug smile.
She crouched down so that they were at eye level. Vyassa leaned forward until her face was merely inches from his, continuing to smile as her orchid eyes peered into his steel-blue. "Fine. You win," she purred quietly, her voice strangely velvet. Her idea was going well. stickeh-tape For the first time since they'd met, Aeru was slightly put off. And strangely enough, it actually was because of her suddenly sweeter nature. As she leapt onto the branch and moved so close to him, he lost his balance oh-so-slightly and slipped backwards a little, but his tail shot up to grab hold of the branch above him and pull him upright again. His gaze wavered, but just as quickly a smirk crossed his face.
In truth he was not doing this for any reason in particular but to have fun. He was not here to kill her, what reason would he have for that? Nor was he here for any sort of, eh... Reason that a man might be playing with a female of near his age as Aeru was right then. It very well could have seemed that way, but he had no such inappropriate intentions. No-sir-ee.
"Heh." Aeru locked his gaze on Vyassa's, with a half-grin on his face. One of his ears twitched slightly. "An' wussat I've won, hm?" He inquired, lowering his voice to a husky tone. It was more to get a reaction out of her than anything. If she really thought he expected anything out of her then that was her own problem. He was just having fun, really. Vyassa was delighted. He had played right in, and she had already caught him off-guard. She spoke softly. "Sex," she hissed, "We're going to have sex. No, excuse me, we're going to have great sex. The bad kind. The hot, steamy, mind-blowing, tear-off-your-clothes kind." The female Anwen's smile widened briefly. "What do you have to say to that?"
Indeed, what did he have to say? This was what he got for being so damned annoying; she was only returning the 'favor'. She cleared these thoughts from her mind, leaving room for focusing on a convincing act as she toyed with his long hair. Slender fingers ran through his bangs and down his face, stroking his cheek gently. Her smile was subdued. "Though...I can't promise that I won't hurt you, babe..." A throaty, catlike chuckle issued from the back of her throat, and her eyes half-closed in glee. Vyassa's fingertips felt the pulse at the base of his throat, just to see how nervous and riled up she was making him. She leaned forward toward his neck as if to kiss or bite—she was close enough that the both of them could almost feel her lips on his skin. When she felt his pulse quicken accordingly, she glanced up at him, with a malicious smile that gave her 'revenge' plans away. stickeh-tape It was clear by his reaction that such a response to his behaviour was unexpected. And it was hard to tell what he thought of it, other than shock, and the inability to tell whether she was just toying with him or dead serious. The way she spoke she seemed serious, but you could never tell, considering she was who she was.
Again Aeru lost his balance, swaying slightly on the branch, but one of his hands grabbed onto it and his tail's grip on the one above him tightened so he would not fall. A hot blush had risen to his cheeks to accompany the faster beating of his heart. Now it was his turn to feel unsafe. Then a thought occurred to him at seeing her smile, and in one quick motion he used his tail to drop off the branch and swing onto the one above them.
Once higher up, away from Vyassa, he put on a new look. This one was different: one of slight frustration. His cheeks were still pink from embarrassment, both at what Vyassa had done and at himself for letting his guard down. "Is tha' how we're gonna play at it then dahl? Playin' eachotha's weakness's back an' forth until we both run out of things teh do or jus' get too damn bored?" He said, on all fours on the branch, only his tail dangling off to flick at the female Anwen's earring again. It was becoming increasingly more difficult for Vyassa to stifle the urge to laugh as she watched his expression change from heavy to embarrassed to frustrated. No, she would not laugh in front of another person.
She threw her head back and laughed. It was a mocking, shrewish laugh. Had she been an Ehalu there might have been tears of mirth rolling down her cheeks, because his sudden change in demeanor was so great—and she had caused it. Vyassa didn't care about how he felt right now, because messing with his little head had been so terribly amusing. Things like these she never did anymore; torture usually had a different definition in her mind. To her, torture usually involved blood and pain, though now she realized that little twists of emotional torment were almost just as fun. The laugh continued for about a minute, before the spell subsided and she raised a finger to wipe away a nonexistent tear.
The female assassin tilted her head up to look at him, yet another smug smile plastered onto her face. "So that's one of your weaknesses. I should keep that in mind," she said, between chuckles. Vyassa grinned as she heard the rest of his sentence. "Really then," she began again, twirling her fingers around her belly button ring, "If you have that reaction again I'd do this again in a heartbeat." She fell into another spasm of giggles, before looking intently up at him again. "Hm?" It seemed as if she refused to let go of the game, at least for the time being. It was her turn to take him lightly. stickeh-tape For once, the laughter was not contagious. The Anwen was too much irritated at himself for letting her get to him so easily, and in such an unexpected way indeed. Tha's what ya get fer no' communicatin', ya don' know how ta deal with women. He thought to himself bitterly, cursing his inability to keep his head on straight in such a situation. It was so much easier to deal with her sour attitude, but when Aeru was put in an uncomfortable position, that wasn't so easy.
So how was he to put her off her guard now? He'd only just met this one, and had yet to discover more weaknesses. Thus far all he'd figured out he'd already played around with. But then again, he could continue to play with her lack of tolerance for friendliness and his annoyingly cheerful attitude until he figured it out more.
Once more his outward appearance of his carefree self took place, but on the inside he was now on his guard. He could continue to look happy, and act cheerful, but on the inside, he was feeling nothing, because too instantly she had become a threat, and with something so little. A fight would have been interesting, actually, if it were to occur, but for the moment it was mind games. "If yeh could do it in a heartbeat, why dontchya? Tha' won't make me go away missy~" He said in a relaxed tone, leaning over to hang sideways off the tree branch. He settled down more, crossing his arms under his chin and eyeing her, as he let his tail continue to play by rubbing it against Vyassa's neck and the flicking at her belly button ring, before wrapping it around the branch behind him. Vyassa was still finding her previous actions very amusing. She purred as he rubbed his tail against her neck, when he stopped and she opened her eyes again. The Anwen laughed darkly to herself as she listened to him challenge her to do it again. She certainly hadn't been planning to do it again; in fact she hadn't even thought out her plan to that point yet. And if he had let her continue with her actions before, she didn't know what she would do either. Inside she felt a twinge of chagrin. What was he planning to do?
Perhaps playing along wouldn't be too harmful. Vyassa leapt up quickly onto his branch again, and flashed him a vicious grin. "I don't want you to go away anymore, Aeru..." she said, using his name for the first time.
This, of course, wasn't true. See, Vyassa had reverted to using reverse psychology. Or intimidation, or something of the like. She still had those trench knives stowed away in her pockets. She hoped that when she waved them around later, they would throw him off the edge and make him, yes, go away. That was what her advances had done—they had planted the seed.
Again she began to paw at his long, blue hair. Her fingers lingered at the nape of his neck. A small smile played at the corner of her lips as she leaned in close again, close enough that their noses almost touched, and close enough that he couldn't see what her other hand was doing. Vyassa was not one to see the erotic side of blood. Blood to her only meant one thing, and that was death. If Aeru mistook what she was about to do for sexual sadism, there was something wrong with him, for she was quite serious. "I told you though, Aeru...I can't say I won't hurt you." In the next instant, a trench knife was poised at his throat. stickeh-tape Aeru was slightly less put off this time. But she had to just be trying to mess with him, right? She was an assassin, just like he. She was supposed to do things like this, to make you weak when you were supposed to be strong, and kill you right on the spot, when you were off your guard. They just needed you to be off your guard for half a second, and then...
Ah, there it was. A bloody knife. A knife, up against his throat, which was probably the first time such a thing had ever happened, considering he rarely dealt with others of his profession. And never so carelessly. Damn him for letting his guard down...
A scowl crossed his almost never-frowning face. "Ah should be sayin' the same thing." He hissed, before jerking back, lifting himself up off the branch enough to kick at the female Anwen with his feet. Once, hard, in the stomach, hoping to knock her off the branch. The force of the kick pushed him backwards, a little too carelessly, and he felt the knife brush too sharply against his flesh, as it had been so close to him before he'd moved all of a sudden. It stung, but the wound probably wouldn't scar, even if it did hurt like a b***h. Hopefully, anyways. The Anwen flipped backwards, hurriedly disappearing into his surroundings by way of the Anwen ability of camouflaging. He didn't know how long it would last, because there was a slight note of panic in his thoughts, and that was one of the sure ways an Anwen could lose control of their powers. Vyassa sort of wished she could say that she knew it was going to happen...in fact, she did. She just wasn't as prepared as she should have been, and thus had received a good kick to the stomach. "Ow," she said, loudly enough for him to hear. "That hurt." The Anwen had landed on her feet like a cat, but fell to her knees briefly to catch her breath. Looking up once she had, she saw that he had disappeared. A slight frown clouded her small features, before she too faded into her surroundings.
Silently, Vyassa fled over to where their weapons were, pocketing the knives she had thrown to the ground earlier. She left the non-bladed weapons alone, as well as Aeru's weapons. She would guarantee him that much of a fair fight. One watching the scene would merely see the weapons being picked up, before also disappearing into the air. Quickly still, the female assassin fled that spot into a tree opposite the one they had just left. The branch she sat on wasn't far off the ground, but it shook only very slightly under her weight. Vyassa was not aware of this as she closed her eyes to sense for his location. She hadn't been planning on a fight, but now that he had engaged one, her pride wouldn't let her back down.
He was pretty adept at hiding, Vyassa mused, willing to give him that much. She didn't hear or see him anywhere, though it was definitely apparent that he was still around somewhere. That was before she smelled the blood on the knife she had been holding earlier. After that, it didn't take her much longer to detect the metallic scent that hung from that tree over...there! A barrage of flying knives issued from the girl Anwen to that tree—five, to be exact—but she had aimed recklessly. She didn't think she had hit him, for there wasn't a significant rise of the tangy blood smell in the air. Perhaps she had grazed him some. "Did I hit, Aeru-babeh?" she asked, a hint of laughter behind her voice.
She jumped onto the tree to the left, lest he attack that tree. A few leaves fluttered gently between the two trees, suggesting movement. Vyassa smiled again. This was her idea of fun.

Goya had long since left the city at his mother's insistance. The town made him nervous since his attack and he was finding it increasingly difficult to live a normal life. Even before that, he had never felt that he belonged in the urban environment. It was too busy for someone with a nervous disposition like his.
So it had been decided that he should Journey to Jystan, for his own benefit and to visit a few distant family members along the way. His mother felt that being among more of his own kind would be good for him, learning the culture of the Sarus and how to become strong again with their lifestyle so staying in a Sarus settlement was the best plan of action.
The journey had been long and tiresome and the young Sarus had made a point of staying away from open terrain and the main roads, prefering to travel though overgrown woods and undergrowth so that he could hide easily. He had not encountered anyone so far, luckily. Nor did he want to, light or dark, he was hardly in the right frame of mind to meet strangers, let alone trust them. Even the cutest of creatures could stab you in the back if it could talk, that or bite your legs off.
Not that woods didn't have their own dangers also, but Goya had finally regained the use of his wings and his sense of hearing was keen enough for him to get by. Plus his current paranoia had left him overly cautious. Everything was dangerous until proven otherwise, he was taking no chances. He had even armed himself, in case he ever encountered a crow again, he'd be sure to make them bleed a little this time around before they killed him. It wouldn't be much but at least he could say that he'd tried, maybe even leave a permanant scar. He'd quite like the idea.

Nisrah moved carefully through the Jystan woods, so as not to disturb the peace. He had originally come to hunt, now he was merely here for pleasure. A walk in the woods, listening to the plants speak. No signs of the outside world. It was, in short, perfect. Nisrah could almost imagine that the rest of Oaxu wasn't in complete and utter torment due to the war between dark and light.
Nis knew he was classified as Dark. As evil. Still, his race didn't care for such matters. They had a cool neutrality to them about the war and preferred to hunt unseen in the forests of the world of Oaxu. Yet every day it was harder and harder not to think about what was going on in the outside world and just how it might affect them.
Nisrah growled in a soft frustration at the thought - why? What did those fools think they were doing out there? Why couldn't anyone just mind their own business? Why'd they have to fight? It was foolish. The Zymphs were a peaceful race, at least. And why was that? They lived and kept to themselves was why! Yet it was getting harder and harder to do such a thing now. To keep to oneself.
Nisrah froze at the loud crack below him. He had been pulled into his unnecessary thought stream and as a result had been paying little to no attention to where he was stepping. Foolish. Nisrah pressed his lips together under the tribal mask he wore - not that it was that big of a deal that he'd made noise when not on a hunt, but it was still made all the more worse from the poisonous subject he'd planted into his mind.
